This is a cute, low angst HP AU story which covers the “what if Draco & Hermione found equal footing with each other while they were in school” idea. While some magical characters’ reactions are little over the top (Harry, Ron, Ginny) the approach to Lucius is realistic. This creates an isolated Hermione and is the catalyst for the plot of the first half of the story.

The plot, overall, is more like a string of “slice of life” moments with an underlying theme. The first half is what Hermione & Draco do to address the isolationism and Lucius. The second is how they move on after the war is over and Lucius is no longer a concern.

This is the biggest issue I have with the story. It is very slow and there’s really nothing to build towards so, even when things happen there’s very little climax. It feels like the story is bigger than the plot.

However, the author is one that I regularly reread as they have some amazing work. Additionally, it is a great change if you’ve been reading darker fiction a lot and need something lighter.
