An unexpected meeting at the beach and a young nephew who won't take no for an answer, has Owen falling hard and fast.
Charlotte feels something too, but violently losing her mother at a young age has her afraid to take a chance.
With only five days, Owen will have to work fast if he has any hope of winning Charlotte's heart.
This is a stand alone contemporary romance with characters related to the NYT Bestselling Titan series by Cristin Harber. Owen is the cousin of Mia Winters from WINTERS HEAT.
Claudia Connor is the author of the New York Times and USA Today bestselling series, The McKinney Brothers.
Claudia writes, warm, heartfelt contemporary romances with a bit of steam, a lot of family and always a happily ever after. Claudia attended Auburn University, where she received her undergraduate and masters degrees in early childhood education, and completed her studies in Sawbridgeworth, England. When she's not writing, she enjoys movies, reading, and travel, with a heavy dose of daydreaming during all three. Claudia lives near Memphis, Tennessee, with her husband and three daughters.
I have enjoyed the majority of this author's work to date, and this was no exception. A little slow to get moving for such a short story, but once it hit its stride, I was liking it.
This story was very reminiscent of Worth the Fall. Especially the hero, Owen. He had that "good guy" feel that we loved with Matt. They met at the beach. They lived in separate states. .... Only, neither the hero/heroine had children.
I adored Owen. He was a not a manwhore, was close with his family and he went for what he wanted.
Charlotte was a decent heroine. After hearing what she had endured, I understood why she was as hesitant as she was. It was actually something I could relate to on a small level.
-great hero and heroine -not as much pushing away as I'd thought there would be -steamier scenes later in the book -no cheating or ow/om drama whatsoever -good secondary characters - I feel like they may have had stories but I didn't feel as though they were pertinent to this book. -no epilogue - there was a jump ahead of a few months but not a look into their future which was disappointing for me
Charlotte Fischer is taking a rare vacation in Florida when an adorable little boy, Kyle, engages with her at the pool. That leads her to his handsome uncle, Owen Anderson who is also vacationing with his large, extended family. Both are immediately drawn to each other and slowly start getting to know each other better.
While Charlotte has some tragedy and other factors in her past that has impeded her ability to develop long-term relationships, there wasn’t much in the way of conflict or anything else to make this journey very interesting. Both she and Owen are two very nice people who seemed to have found their someone special. It was heartwarming at times and sensual but I found it difficult to connect with their relationship, primarily because of Charlotte. I just couldn’t figure out what made her relevant.
I love this author’s stories, every one of them to date. This one didn’t reach me on any meaningful level. Nice story but just not memorable.
Owen and Charlotte meet on vacation and spend their days getting to know each other and falling hard. I loved Claudia Connor's romances, full of heat and emotions. There's usually a fun supportive family featured, and she always writes the cutest kids! Little Kyle stole my heart.
A surprising amount of emotional depth considering the short amount of pages.
3.5 Adorable, sweet, funny, family driven and hot! A bit of the ending storyline had me scratching my head though. Seemed off and uncharacteristic. But I am a MASSIVE Claudia Connor fan and if you haven't read her McKinny Brother series YOU ARE MISSING OUT!!
This was a short but sweet, holiday romance that I absolutely loved.
Charlotte has a busy life in New York and looks forward to holiday time to relax and recharge. A lounger beside the beach with a book in hand is her idea of a great day on vacation.
Owen is on his annual family holiday with his parents, siblings, their partners and a bundle of nieces and nephews. He loves having fun with his family and catching up with them all. When he meets Charlotte at the resort pool he experiences an instant attraction to her, like nothing he has had before. He just needs to know her.
Charlotte is initially reluctant about Owen’s interest in her but she bravely casts her fears aside and enjoys some holiday fun with him. Neither of them expected just how hard and fast they would fall for each other, it’s crazy really.
‘So beautiful. You are so damn beautiful, and I want you. So much my hands are trembling.’
At the end of the holiday will goodbye really mean the end or is with Owen where Charlotte really belongs?
Spoilers ahead This is a novella with links to a series I've never read but I wasn't lost Again this author gets me with the kids H/h meet on vacation and have a great connection, she's shy and sweet, he's sexy but kind and with his darling nephew and meddling family they get pushed together a lot The only bummer was no epilogue Quick read with a non manwhore hero, no cheating or OP drama
This is my first book by this author and I enjoyed it! It was well paced and developed for a novella too I felt like. Where I Belong is a sweet vacation romance. Owen (H) sees Charlotte (h) at the pool after his nephew ropes her into playing with him. They have some Insta-attraction and spend time going on dates and with his family until they have to separate. Their connection is so sweet as they get to know each other and open up. Charlotte has some trauma from the death of her mother as a child that’s made her a more cautious person, which does come into play during their romance. There’s a bit of long distance relationship happening for a time and a touch of angst close to the end, but this is a light read with a bit of steam. The story is told in third person, dual POV focus. No ow/om drama, neither were virgins and both had been celibate a while, bc used.
I did get thrown out of the story a couple of times by the speech formatting where I had to backtrack to confirm who was speaking. There’s also an instance close to the end where I think a part wasn’t included but was referenced, minor but I reread that page a couple times trying to see what I missed. While there is a one month jump ahead at the end, and you feel they’re in their HEA, I did wish for a bit more of a future epilogue. Esp with both of them being family oriented and loving kids. I’m looking forward to trying more of this author’s books though and seeing how a full length novel flows!
This is a sweet and swoony vacation love story with two likable characters and a quirky cast of side characters.
Charlotte is a reserved woman who follows the rules and is predictable. Her past has shaped her and she has her reasons for not being a big risk taker. Spontaneity makes her nervous and she takes a while to trust and to feel safe.
She is drawn into interactions with a vacationing extended family by a precocious young boy. Next thing she knows she is meeting his Uncle Owen. Owen is charming, funny, confident, and persistent. He wants to spend time with her and is willing to go at her pace. Although they know they have less than a week at the resort so the clock is ticking. They feel a connection and have a great rapport. They have chemistry and begin to build trust. But there is also fear of taking a risk and some obstacles in their way of pursuing anything more.
This is short, but heartfelt and engaging. I really liked the characters. I loved his fun family including his cousin, Colby Winters, and his wife Mia who will be recognized by Titan fans. It flowed will and was realistic and believable. Even with the short length there was enough to grasp onto regarding pasts and to become invested in their story. It was romantic, funny, and illustrated the importance of family and finding a home.
I really like the way Claudia Connor writes romance. Her characters are wonderful and her depiction of family life are spot on. In this novella, it just didn't click. We found out a lot about the heroine, Charlotte, but very little about the hero, Owen. The heroine came off as borderline neurotic and needy, trapped by the tragic death of her mother. Not a very attractive package to me as a reader.
Charlotte is in Florida on holiday she was meant to meet her Dad but he had other plans. Living in New York and living on the world of finance and numbers. Charlotte without even knowing it has kept a very secluded life. Due to the tragic death of her mother it is no wonder. Moving around a lot as a child at least twelve countries has never made her fit in anyway. She has been holding on to her father for too long.
She is shy and insular. She loves lists, she dislikes boredom and she doesn’t do relaxation aka holiday at all well.
But with the help of Kyle…
“This is my Charlotte,” Kyle shouted. “That’s my uncle.” “Your Charlotte, huh?” he asked Kyle though he was looking at her.
Owen is on holiday with his whole family and yes that includes Colby & Mia Winters. Colby and Owen are cousins which makes for fun times. Owen tries to break up the beginning of a beautiful friendship but falls for the shy beauty himself. He lives in South Carolina so how will that work? But family can’t help be family and then they get involved. No matter how much you don’t want them to Owen.
“I don’t want to be anyone’s project.” His father chuckled. “And you think you get any say? Especially in this family.”
So with the attraction beneath the surface and Owen’s patience a wonderful summer romance begins. It is the beginning moments of heart flutters and butterflies. Words of promise of something more.
“You take my breath away.” And she was taking his heart right along with it. And for a man who’d never been in danger of losing it, that took his breath away, too.
Of getting to know one another of exploring everything you want to explore of that special someone. He sure does know how to make you feel special.
Drawing her up, he brushed a slow, soft kiss over her lips. The kind of kiss that touched the soul. But what happens when the time spent on holiday is over and real life beckons?
After the magic is over and they go back to their respective lives they speak on the phone any time that they can. Owen goes to see Charlotte in New York until a moment of the past leads to Charlotte getting a scare and sets everything she has with Owen in jeopardy. But what are fathers for.
“Falling in love, giving your heart to someone, someone you might lose is risky business.”
I’ve got to say that so far this is my least favourite in the Titan World series and also my least favourite when it comes to the lovely Ms. Connor but even putting all of this aside it is still a sweet, sexy, heart-warming read.
On a side note my most favourite bit out of the book.
“SEALs use any equipment needed to train and get the job done.” “And I have a pink princess Navy SEAL bike with training wheels,” Clara added with all her father’s confidence and her mother’s sass.
Probably 3.75 stars rounded up. It’s a novella so things happened fast and that’s the norm pretty much for novellas. We do get a lot of backstory which was good. The romance was pretty sweet(and sensual)with a good guy hero and a shy woman with issues due to a trauma. Some good side characters just made it better.
Enjoyed the story although it could have been even better if it was a bit longer with more character development. I think I just wanted to understand more about the heroine. I know she went through a trauma, but she was happily in love and then when something happened she tried to change all that. It just didn't feel right and it bothered me just a small bit, but as I said, I enjoyed it. I've loved this author's books in the past as well. Recommended to adult contemporary romance readers.
Claudia Connor has a habit of just sucking you into a story from the very first page, grabbing your emotions by the . . . well, something, and not letting go until those two little words at the last, THE END. This was no different. I was totally invested in Owen and Charlotte as soon as they met. While their romance was something of a whirlwind, the journey rather short, it was no less enjoyable than a full length novel.
They met on vacation. Charlotte was waiting for her father to join her while Owen's entire family was with him. Owen's nephew, Kyle, was partially responsible for bringing them together when he encountered Charlotte at the swimming pool. Owen had no trouble taking it from there and was prompt in getting involved with her. They spent hours just getting to know one another as their attraction grew.
This was one of those stories that made me sigh at the end. And, you know, while novellas oftentimes leave me feeling cheated, like there was so much more to the story than what had been told, I really didn't feel that way about this one. I was completely satisfied (although I have to confess I wouldn't mind their story continuing in a future book)! I loved everything about this one and highly recommend it.
Sweet, fun and swoon-worthy vacation romance that has the perfect formula for a pick me up read!
If you have read any of Ms Connor's writing, you will be happy to know that this novella is packed with all the emotionally pleasing words that we expect from her style.
This is a story that can be read in a few hours and will sweep you along with Charlotte and Owen as they fall in love.
Charlotte has to consider disrupting her sense of order and shyness to take a chance on Owen. Owen's nephew Kyle is a little scene stealer and quite simply adorable. AND Owen... what a great guy. Sweet, patient and protective. What a lead male!
You will love this book for so many reasons. A feel good romance that will give you a lift up.
This book was a little slow moving for me, considering it's a novella. In my opinion Claudia Connor did a good job of supplying backstory in a few pages. I liked Owen in my opinion he is very likable, if you like the sweet, loyal and family oriented man. I liked Charlotte and how she was true to herself. She is a little complicated and very loyal to her father. Overall I liked this book. I read this book on Kindle Unlimited.
Where I Belong is a sweet story with a vacation twist. If only this was summer and I was sitting at the beach reading it!
Charlotte is vacationing solo. Her father was supposed to join her on vacation but was called away at the last minute for work. Relaxing isn’t her norm, and though she doesn’t have work to keep her busy, she is doing her best to stay busy. One particular attempt to relax by the pool with her book is interrupted by a curious boy who wants to play. His enthusiasm has her quickly pulled into the boy's family vacation, particularly when the boy’s single uncle meets the pretty blonde.
Kyle takes his time with family seriously. When he can get away from his construction business, he loves returning to the same beach his family has vacationed at since he was a boy. When his nephew Kyle includes a new friend for the afternoon, Kyle is attracted to and interested in the quiet girl in a way he hasn’t been for a long time.
This is one of the Titan world novellas, and so favorite Titan characters play a role. Kyle is Colby Winter’s cousin and Colby, Mia and their family are also on vacation. This is very much a Claudia Connor story, with the only reference to Titan activities being offhanded remarks about Colby and Mia’s work. For such a short story, there is a great deal of depth to both the characters and the story. At times, their backstories felt just as fleshed out as I would expect from a novel.
This is a sweet, swoony beach type read as Kyle and Charlotte have a vacation romance that changes their outlook. They know there is a time limit on their relationship, but both can’t help wonder what would happen if they lived closer to each other. I had fun reading this quick story and it kept a smile on my face the entire time.
I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.
When Charlotte agreed to meet her father at a nice resort in Florida. She had planned on doing a great deal of family bonding. As happenstance and her father's busy schedule would have it, the only unknown in this entire affair? Just whose family Charlotte would be bonding with.
Claudia Connor's Where I Belong is a wonderful illustration of the sentiment that home really is "where the heart is." Charlotte has always been shy, reserved, and methodical. She would most likely refer to herself as a planner. Never fully recovered from the tragic loss of her mother; when she was young. Charlotte has always been very guarded about both her body and her heart. But thanks to a little cupid named Kyle, a big man with an easy smile and a gentle heart, and the matchmaking machinations of his even bigger family. Charlotte will soon find that her corner of the world offers the final piece that both lives and heart need to make everyone involved whole.
This sweet and honest beach romance offers everything that those who love heart melting, forever love, love stories read for. Intriguingly enough, it is not the romance between leading lady Charlotte and leading heartthrob Owen that makes this read. At least not at first. No, that honor would have to go to an undeniably adorable boy of about 5 or 6. Who claims the hearts of both Charlotte and readers within this novella's opening pages.
When Kyle's irrepressible spirit is paired with the warm accepting nature of his exuberant family, and the patient, kind, loving, and "oh so HOT" man candy that is Owen. There is no way that Charlotte or her audience can not realize that this story, this man, and this love, are all "where they belong".
Reviewer's Note: Though this book is part of a companion collection, it may be enjoyed as a stand alone.
Is there any one better at penning sweet, sexy, family centered romance than Claudia Connor? Because if there is, please let me know, I want to read their books.
Where I Belong is a sweet read. A very warm, heartfelt romance. It was not my usual read, but it was wonderful.
Charlotte is taking a week to relax and do nothing on the beach. She still has her schedules, she can't seem to do anything without her lists, but she is determined to relax a bit. Her dad was supposed to come with her but had a last minute business thing that came up so she is alone. Not that she minds.
Owen is a super sweet, nice, wonderful guy. He meets Charlotte when his nephew makes her go swimming with him, but he doesn't mind. She is so kind and caring and beautiful and from the first moment he sees her he knows she is something special. So he does what he can to try and get to know her. Only Charlotte is a bit caution and doesn't jump into things without thinking about it first so it takes a bit of time to get her out of her shell. I loved these two together. Yes, Charlotte still has a lot of issues based on some things that happened when she was younger, issues that mean she is a bit more cautious than she used to be, but I loved her. She is so sweet and perfect for Owen.
I loved Owen so much. He is so wonderful with Charlotte. He knows she is something special so he is okay taking it slow and going at her pace. He just wants to spend time with her however he can. Because they are both on vacation and he only has this week to convince her that maybe they have something. Maybe they are meant to be together.
This story was wonderful. I don't read a lot of warm fuzzy romances, but I loved this one. Owen and Charlotte really got to me and I wanted nothing but the best for them. This was my first book by this author, but it definitely won't be my last.
"I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book."
A story of discovery, doing something outside of your norm and finding a deliciously sweet love affair on vacation. This is Owen and Charlotte’s story who are brought together by Kyle, Owen’s young nephew, who announces she’s “his Charlotte”. Of course, Owen’s family likes Charlotte and that pretty much ensure meddling will commence. Especially Owen’s older sister, Trish and his cousin’s wife Mia, who’s shrink and the no non-nonsense expression on her face scars him a little.
At first glance, they both knew there was something between them. Owen had never been in danger of losing his heart until he met Charlotte. Charlotte has never met anyone like Owen who’s a gorgeous man, sweet with his nephew and a smile that gave the sexy tingles she’s only read about. Charlotte doesn’t trust easily, she’s a ruler follower, list maker and is haunted by a dream of the last time she was with her mom and her last words to her were “You’ll know”.
Owen and Charlotte’s time together has an end date and it’s fast approaching. They live in two different states, which add more complications to their relationship. When Charlotte’s world is rocked again by an unexpected attack, she makes a hasty decision that can shatter their love affair for good. Claudia’s writing charms her readers and the blending of Titan is a gratifying read.
I've had this book for a while, but for some reason I hadn't gotten around to reading it, which is surprising considering I devour anything that Claudia Connor writes. I think because I hadn't read any of the books by Cristin Harber in her Titan series, that I was hesitant. But I had no reason to. This was a classic Claudia Connor book!
Charlotte has finally gotten around to taking a vacation to Florida, where she's supposed to meet up with her father. There, she encounters Owen and his entire family (seriously- his parents, aunt, uncle, sister, cousin, their spouses, their kids). She gets roped into hanging out with them at the pool and going to dinner with them. They all see what Charlotte doesn't, and what Owen is reluctant to admit: there's some serious chemistry between these two! They get to know each other over the week, but eventually, they both have to return to their homes- Charlotte to New York, Owen to South Carolina. Due to a childhood event, Charlotte is very hesitant to pursue this relationship, but can't deny that with Owen is right where she belongs.
This was just as you would expect from a Claudia Connor book- it was well-written, had a solid plot, and characters that you care about. I think little Kyle stole the show for me (no one writes children quite like Claudia Connor)!! This is a book that I will definitely reread, and definitely recommend!
Where I Belong is a sweet, short story filled with a lovely summer romance and some great characters.
Charlotte is on holiday on her own in Florida. Her father was meant to join her but he got caught up in work. Charlotte doesn’t usually take time off, instead she is caught up with her busy life in New York, working in finance. On one particular attempt to relax by the pool with her book, she is interrupted by a curious boy who wants to play.
Soon this curious boy, Kyle is joined by his very good-looking and very much single uncle, Owen. Owen is enraptured by the pretty blonde. Owen takes his family time seriously and when he can get away from his construction business he likes to spend time vacationing with his family.
When his nephew includes Charlotte in their family activities, he couldn’t be happier as he wants to get to know her better. Charlotte and Owen go on a couple of dates and start a whirlwind romance. But they also live on other sides of the country.
I haven’t read anything in the Titan series, but I love Claudia Connor so I knew I had to read this. This was a beautiful romance filled with a lot of depth and emotions and even though it was short the story felt fully fetched out.
Wow. Another amazing story by Claudia Connor! With her McKinney brothers series she made me fall in love with a whole family, and made me impatient to read the next story about the next family member. She did it with this book too. Claudia is a master at weaving emotions, family bonds, and sexy moments all together into a page-turner, with the right balance of love, passion, strongly emotional (read tear-jerking) moments, and funny moments. Such a pity that it's such a short read and that there won't be more of these two characters. When I reached the end, I wasn't quite ready to let go. I would love to read more of Owen and Charlotte. If you're looking for a quick read that will wrap around your heart and feel you with all the warm feelings, this is it. The book is linked to the Titan series, but it works as a standalone (I haven't read any of the other books in the series) and it does contain some explicit sex scenes, but even if you're a clean romance reader, you should give this book a chance and maybe skip ahead when you reach those scenes.
I don't have words to explain how much I loved this book but I can honestly say this is the first time I've cried as hard as I did while reading a book. Even though this story is not what we're used to reading from a Titan book because there's no action/suspense, the romance is like anything I've read in a long time and it left me wanting more. This is the first time I've read something from this author and it definitely won't be the last!
Mia Winters' brother, Owen, falling hard and fast for Charlotte who he meets at a resort, she has a nephew with Downs who Owen is so good with. Charlotte feels something too, but violently losing her mother in a bombing in Munich at a young age has her afraid to take a chance. With only five days, Owen will have to work fast if he has any hope of winning Charlotte's heart. She works with her father in finance in NYC, Owen builds homes at Virginia Beach.
I obtained this free e-book from Amazon and I am voluntarily writing a review. This is about two people that meet on vacation and during the week they are their they sense a deep connection. But living several states apart with busy lives can it develop further? I really did enjoy reading this but other than a couple of Titan World characters popping up a few times I did not see the Titan connection.
