Are you still searching for a funny chapter series to captivate your early reader? Is the boy in your life reluctant to read? It's probably the book.Max and his big brother Cody can’t wait for a day at the beach. But wait—what about that time when Max was bodyboarding, and got totally body-slammed?! Will he chance another face-crushing, sand-in-his-teeth disaster?
SO refreshing to read a book where family values are paramount with parents taking time to do things with their kids. Meet Max and his big brother, Cody. The boys are typical kids: they get their words mixed up once in a while and also get into mischief. You'll have to read Chapter 2 regarding the false teeth. SO funny.
Today is beach day. Follow their adventures as Max and Cody catch a crab. When it's time to go bodyboarding, Max is a little nervous as last time didn't turn out too well. What will happen this time? Will Dad just yell at him or will he encourage him?
A few black and white illustrations are scattered throughout the book. This is a short chapter book for independent readers or as a read aloud. VERY clean. GREAT book. I downloaded this book onto my Kindle. I was not required to write a review but chose to do so. Thanks, Liz
This story is about a boy, Max, who spends the day at the beach with his family. Besides catching ghost crabs and playing in the surf, Max has to overcome one of his fears. This story was an enjoyable read from title to end. It is perfect for 2nd and 3rd graders who are building confidence with chapter books. The characters are likable and the illustrations are perfect for this age range. I’m looking forward to reading Max E. James Birthday Bash Part 1.
This is a pleasant little story with lots of humor. The 6 - 10-year-olds will get the humor, but the adults will laugh too. It's nice to see a family going together and having adventures. Max and Cody are brothers who love each other but aren't above competing and challenging each other. The artwork that graces this chapter book is great and helps the action move forward. Both boys and girls will enjoy the story. This is one of those stories kids will want to read again and again.
It moves quickly and the illustrations are cute. There were a couple minor grammar errors but those didn't bother me. I did have trouble pinning down Max's age. If it was in thee book, I !missed it. He just seems to use a broader vocabulary than most kids under 9, through that is possible. I can see how kids might like this.
This was a cute, humorous book about a family's trip to the beach, told by a small boy. He has many adventures on the trip. It is written for a child, but the parents will understand some of the humor better than the child. I enjoyed the book, reading it as an adult who survived her children's childhood.
Here is a chapter book about a boy, his brother and going to the beach. It's a 👍 from me. It shows what a big brother should be. It might take a little while to find the good big brother, but he's there. I recommend this 📙 for 👦 and 👧 alike. There is also a free download attached to this book. Enjoy Max and his fun beach 🌴 day.
