Mr. Mumby's sore throat complicates his day as he gets a panda bear instead of a pound of pears, and a kangaroo instead of a can of stew, until a doctor's visit provides a final surprise
If kids were read this book they would like it because just like in Mrs Piggle Wiggle when a person's speech comes out like something else it can get silly as in this book. He asked for "a dozen bagels" and instead got a dozen beagles. He ends up with an entire menagerie.
Text and Illustrations: the illustrations are AMAZING! I love Peter Catalanotto. The text illustrates what Mr. Mumby receives every time he speaks. The illustrations go where the text does not.
Summary: Mr. Mumby is having trouble being understood. He's mumbling. He keeps getting misunderstood throughout the whole book. Finally, in the end, we find out what was wrong all along.
I'm not sure what flwew out of his mouth at the end, but this was a nicely written book and I enjoyed. The pictures were great. It reminded me of Elise Broach's Everything comes with a Dinosaur.
