Better known for his surreal films El Topo and The Holy Mountain filmed in the early 1970s, Alejandro Jodorowsky is also an accomplished writer of graphic novels and a psychotherapist. He developed Psychomagic, a combination of psychotherapy and shamanic magic. His fans have included John Lennon and Marilyn Manson.

Sıradışı bir western öyküsü. İlk ciltte olduğu gibi bu ciltte de alışılmadık olaylar var. Her zaman kazanan iyilik, ölümsüz denen aşk ve haklının kazandığı bir dünya yok. Gerçek dünya var. Bouncer serisi oldukça iyi gidiyor. Bakalım üçüncü cilt ne zaman gelecek. Tavsiye ederim. İyi okumalar.

This is the first book of Jodorowsky that I have managed to finish, I have tried The Incal before, but stopped about halfway (ill restart it again in 2024!). Anyway, this is the first Western themed/set comic that I have read, and I found it to be excellent. The art is good enough for you to differentiate between the dozens of characters, and the pacing of the story really motivates one to continue to plow ahead.

Its a good tale, and very different to the Incal. Im sure that this could be made into a movie.

Jodorowskyn käsikirjoittaman lännensaagan toinen osa käsittelee todella läpinäkyvän arkkityyppiajattelun sijaan Bouncerin isäsuhdetta ja intiaanien asemaa. Käy ilmi että Bouncer on puoliksi intiaani, ja että hänen isänsä kulkee tappamassa kaupungin silmäätekeviä heittämillään myrkkykäärmeillä. Isä on itse asiassa ollut Bouncerin elämässä läsnä alusta asti, sillä hänhän on itse asiassa Bouncerin saluunan omistaja, naamioon pukeutuva El Diablo! No sehän ei välttämättä yllätä ketään, sillä Jodorowsky on kertojana hyvin "säästeliäs" siinä, että kaikki henkilöhahmot ovat tärkeitä osia arkkityyppigalleriaa. Näin kerronta lähentelee paikoitellen esim. Kauniiden ja Rohkeiden tapaisia saippuaoopperoita, mutta se ei liene Jodorowskyn kohdalla uskottavuusongelma, pikemminkin päinvastoin. Kerronta on toisin sanoen koko ajan vaihteella 11, eikä hidastumista tapahdu missään vaiheessa. Bouncereissa kuitenkiin jäädän piirun verran Metabaronien älyttömästä hurjastelusta, sekä hyvässä että pahassa.

Bouncer graphic novels - especially gritty horrific wild west series by Alexandro Jodorowsky, the most famous man to not make a Dune film. Not for my taste, too single minded revenge stories with totally random characters coming and going, mostly to the world beyond.

Part of the latest Humanioids Megabundle - among them the graphic novels by Alejandro Jodorowsky and Moebius. Although this first series I tackled from the bundle features only one of them.

Bouncer'ın türkçedeki ikinci cildi. Üç hikayenin iç içe geçip sürpriz bir sonla okuru heyecanlandırması. Vahşibatının kuralları adeletin güçlünün elinde belirsiz bir canavara dönüşmesi. Sevginin biçimleri, nefretin yaptırımları. Bouncer'ın geçmişi ikinci cildin içinde gizli. Ama gelecek henüz yazılmadı, bir kızılderili kabilesinin katli nelere yol açacak hep beraber göreceğiz. Kötüler adaletin suçlarından kaçamayacak, ilkel kanunlar usta bir savaşçının ellerinde. Mutlaka okunmalı.

I wasn't as big a fan of this as several of Jodorowsky's other comics -- the art was very good, as has tended to be the case with his collaborations, but the story felt a lot more cartoon-y than in his other works I've read. Still fun, but felt a bit shallow.

I was sceptical about this French graphic novel, but I admit, I was won over. It's a cowboy romp, full of expected cliches, but executed well. Since the gunslinger can't clap himself, I'll do it for him.

If you into comics you have to read this: outrageous characters and deathly plots pure unadulterated fun! Beautifully draw, dark and brutal storytelling but with a happy ending :)
