Twenty-two-year-old Beth Ann is content with her small-town life. That is, until the day America’s electric grid is destroyed by terrorists. What starts out as an inconvenience quickly becomes a catastrophe—not only do the lights stay off, but cars won’t run and phones are dead. The world screeches to a halt. Without communication and basic supplies like food and water, widespread confusion spirals into deadly chaos within days.
A wealthy opportunist saves the townspeople with his secret cache of food and easily takes over the desperate town. But the darkness that follows is even more devastating than the electrical outage. When Beth Ann finds herself on her own, she must do whatever it takes to survive.
It was interesting to know the power that government holds. This is very possible to know this could happen any day. Who knows what will happen with the power the government maintains. I wouldn't be shocked either. Being a former military soldier, I understand the concept of this book.
Having read the the two other books currently available in this series I decided to give this one a try. While the way the story is told is similar, and the back story of Beth Anne is interesting I didn't find this book to be quite as engaging, or seem to feel as passionate, as the other books. It's a good story, just doesn't come across the same as the others.
This story was written so well, and it had me feeling so many emotions. I went from shock to sadness and couldn't keep myself together. If you want an emotional story, then this is perfect for you. I promise you won't be disappointed. I found the way the narrator read this to match perfectly with the story, and her voice tone was great. Also, I felt that all of the trials, I would never wish any of them even on my worst enemy. I promise you won't be disappointed in this book, so you should buy it today.
This one is a bit better then the main series, but I still DNFd it about 45% into it. I do like the change of pase and the characters are OK, I am just not into Damsel In Perpetual Distress narratives, not really my thing. If the Author will ever write anything else, I will check it out as I like her style a lot I just intensly dislike that this book is just a side dish for the horrible series the Authors husband wrote and not even it's own thing, the narative voice here is hijacked by an right-wing agenda and it sadly really shows!
This story was a wonderful addition to the series, "Equipping Modern Patriots". Fleshed out the story from the angle of Beth Ann, who survived her past complacent life. Truly, this IS what could happen. Ladies, this reality is why women should get trained, and take off the blinders to protect yourself!
The first chapter I didn’t enjoy, but I guess it was to portrait the character. I found too much coddling, naivety, and unrealistic stuff in the beginning. Later on I got into the characters and it became a little more realistic. Then I had a hard time putting it down. I enjoyed the Christian viewpoint of this EMP survival story. I would recommend and found it to be a good read. 3 1/2 stars
Two thumbs down! Way down. The story starts off with a lot of promise. I was very into for about half. But it gets progressively worse. Weak characters, weak plot, predictable and gag worthy. I could say more, but it’s not worth the time. Read something else.
