May 2021 update: I recently discussed Goldzilla, the long-overdue 8th Esther Diamond novel with my editor. We’re planning for delivery of the manuscript later this year and publication in 2022. That’s all the information I have for now. My profound and sincere apologies not only for the long delay on this book, but also for my late or total lack of response to anyone who has asked me about it.

from the author's website:
" Sorry, no, still no release date for Goldzilla, Esther Diamond #8. This is on me, not my publisher, as I am running well behind schedule. No, I have not quit the series, forsaken writing, been dumped by DAW Books, or any of the other things people have anxiously asked me. I’m just tardy."

I loved this series, it was hilarious. It’s been 7 years since book 7 was released. The statement from the author said book 8 would be published in 2022, that she was just very behind. Yet here we are in 2024 with no release or date for the next 3 books! Why say after 5 years the book would be released, just to not release it?? Being dishonest with your readers is not a good look….

7 books of back and fourth with Lopez, and that is beyond irritating.

Obviously I haven't read the book, it hasn't been printed yet, or written, or even given any priority by the author.

So Neil Gaimen said it's totally up to the author whether they want to write a book or not (in answer to the criticism George Martin has received for not completing the GOT series).

It's true, it is up to the Author, but it is also up to the author to put up with the disappointment and criticism delivered by readers who rather wish the authors would pull their fingers out and finish the series.
