In rural Indiana at the end of the Depression 12-year-old Seely's world is forever changed when an ominous threat from the Fender twins explodes into violence.
This is a much darker story than "End of a Dark Road," although it features the same main characters. Seeley is twelve, in a family trying to escape the poverty of the hills, but their borrowed truck breaks down and they're stuck. Between a Holy Roller church and boys who are criminally insane who skulk around, lots of things are left unsaid by those who need to say them out loud. It just seems a dark tale for young adults.
Loved this series as a kid. Love it just as much as an adult. Written by a Hoosier author about her life growing up in southern Indiana. Got a chance to met her. Fabulous day we shared together!
