Holiday, Inc. Christian Romance Boxed Set

Rate this book
Two inspirational Holiday, Inc. romances in one set!

December isn't filled with the magic of Christmas for Noelle, just the looming dread she's about to lose something else dear to her. Will she ever be rid of her Christmas curse?

When she adopts an injured shelter dog, she discovers the love of her life... a Golden Retriever named Abby. Perhaps being single is God's plan for her, but at least she isn't alone.

Her meddling family, however, is convinced she needs a man in her life. They introduce her to two irresistible men who couldn't be more alike. Or more different. Both men sweep into her life, testing her faith, and stirring up desire and confusion in equal measure.

If she can just get through this humbug holiday without another heartache!

In the spirit of Hallmark movies, this sweet Christian romantic comedy tells the story of a believer, struggling to implement her faith in her everyday walk and battling fear to find the agape love that drives it away.

Book Two of the Holiday, Inc. Series, Haley's Hangdog Holiday

Haley has a chance at her dream job working for Holiday, Inc. There’s only one drawback. Her ex-boyfriend, Gavin Holiday is her supervisor.

Seeing Gavin again makes her heart pound and her soul ache, yet Haley knows he deserves someone better. And her secret crisis of faith is only one of the reasons.

Add one very recalcitrant Basset Hound to all her other problems, and it looks like Haley is going to have a real hangdog holiday.

In the spirit of Hallmark Movies, this sweet romantic comedy tells the story of two young believers, struggling to find faith and love in the midst of adversity.

Noelle's Golden Christmas - I accidentally read Haley and Gavin's story first. The Noelle in that book and this one were very different. It was neat to see how much Noelle had grown. If you don't think Noelle has changed enough by the end of this story, you need to read Haley's story and see how her faith has grown.

In this story Noelle has a few hangups and misconceived notions and is still struggling to find herself. She meets two men who are quite different, but each helps her discover things about herself and come into her own. I liked Noelle's character and her desire to do right even if she fails at times. Aren't we all like that at times? I wish we'd gotten to know David a little more. I felt I knew James better and wanted more real conversation between Noelle and David. That's my only complaint about this book. It's a beautiful story and helps remind us that we are all sinners and we can all change thanks to our Savior.

Haley's Hangdog Holiday - Wow, this book sure covers the entire spectrum of emotions. I was not prepared for that, but I love it. I don't want to cry every time I read a book, but I love when a book pulls me in so much and I am so invested in the characters that it does bring me to tears for them. I love Haley, I love Gavin and I loved the silly dogs. I don't want to give anything aware, but I will say the epilogue really got me.

Good clean read

Nice. Touched on some tough situations and showed how shakey faith can sometimes be. But showed support of others that help to support

Bad things happen.Life is hard without a foundation. People who profess in a strong Christian faith don't always have one. But that doesn't make God's love any less real. These stories chronicle that. Keep your eye on the goal as you travel through these lives. The rewards are worth it. I hope that you enjoy them as well.

I received a copy of this book as a gift. This is my honest review.

I wrote two separate reviews of these books, so I will combine them here. Holiday siblings are the best! Can I just say that I love the couples in both covers?

1. NOELLE'S GOLDEN CHRISTMAS

A beautiful, heart-warming story that makes you believe again in the miracle of Christmas. It has romance, friendship, family bonds, love for stray animals, strong beliefs and spirituality. The cover alone is awesome!

Noelle Holiday is a young Christian woman, who is however bitter toward Christmas celebration (even disliking her own name), due to her past experiences in two different Christmas Eves. Moreover, she resents the fact that time passes and she is still single, while her younger sister is happily married and her younger brother is also engaged. Then, some weeks before Christmas, two handsome brothers, David and James, root equally and at the same time for her attention. She is a bit suspicious of this perfect timing, but she can't help feeling flattered by their efforts and chivalry.

The men are described equally in a great way, to the point that it's difficult even for the reader to decide between them, let alone for the protagonist. The brothers have different views on religion, yet they are both kind, polite, funny, respectful and generally nice. And swoon-worthy.

I like that Noelle is portrayed realistically, with faults and weaknesses and driven by indecision and even desire. Being a Christian doesn't mean that she doesn't make mistakes, that she never complains or cries or she never gets tempted. Even if sometimes I was frustrated and thinking "Why are you doing this, Noelle?", it was interesting to follow her through her struggles.

The same applies for the two heroes. They make mistakes, but they try their best to fix them and be respectful toward the heroine and toward each other, even when they have this rivalry for her attention.

I also like that Noelle became friends with her co-worker. She is a modern, seemingly perfect, yet very insecure woman that Noelle resented at first, but then discovered that she was more than what she appeared to be. Nice touch here about some social/psychological issues. Well done, Ms. Dearen. :)

Lisa, Noelle's younger sister, is a sweetheart: a nice, dynamic and funny character. I think she steals the show from the protagonist everytime she is next to her! I would LOVE if I could read about her story, how she met with her lovely husband. The same I would like for Noelle's nice younger brother, Gavin.

In the end, Noelle will give much happiness and spiritual help to others around her. In return, she will learn not to judge other people according to their "cover" and religious beliefs, to believe in herself, and most importantly to believe in love, happiness and hope again and give them another chance. Because she deserves a happy life and a happy Christmas.

2. HALEY'S HANGDOG HOLIDAY

As always, Ms. Dearen manages to deliver a sweet, romantic book, while still inserting themes like illness, food disorders, family bonds and spirituality, without her characters' beliefs being preachy and overbearing. On the opposite, she writes her characters in a natural, organic way so that their beliefs and morals are part of their identity. Even their difficulty to believe in God or being strong during hardships makes them more human to the reader. The prose is easy and flowing as always, so you finish the book in just some hours. I liked that the author chose the technique of showing the present in the first pages, then exploring in depth the past of the couple for almost half the book and then returning to the present.

The story reminded me a bit of Jane Austen's "Persuasion": the heroine was convinced by her mother to dump her man for what proved to be a ridiculous reason, at least in my opinion. She then spent the rest of the book regretting her decision and falling into one misunderstanding after the other, while her fear of her sickness didn't make things better. The hero still loved her, but was reluctant or proud to admit it and afraid of being hurt again. It became frustrating after a point, when it was obvious they loved each other and they should just drop their insecurity and stubbornness and kiss each other!

The characters seem real with their flaws, problems and struggles and you can't help but feel sympathy during their journey to happily ever after. Gavin and Haley should just get over their false assumptions, sit down like adults and discuss their problems without storming out or disappearing without notice like teenagers! They are real sweethearts who deserve the best. They do struggle through many different issues, but in the end they find their way to each other's embrace and a happy ending.

I totally recommend this book to anyone looking for a fast, sensitive read with real life problems, but a sure happily ever after.

Two Christian holiday romances in which dogs figure prominently. I'm sure dog-lovers would like the stories even better than I did, but I really enjoyed them.

Usually I don't like cliffhanger endings, but I understand why the author left the issue of Haley's health unresolved. Haley's Hangdog Holiday does have a happy ending to the romance, and it's beautiful to know that Gavin loves her and wants to be with her whatever her health prognosis is. That is the definition of love: "in sickness and in health..."

Wonderful stories!

I enjoyed both stories. I liked that the people I came to know in Noelle's story was part of Gavin's. I definitely recommend this 2 book boxed set. I will read more by this author.

Noelle's Golden Christmas is so much more than just another Christmas romance. It is about personal growth, trust in the Lord, becoming a better person and giving your life and concerns to God. It has a great dog, a heroine named Noelle Holiday and the two Christian brothers - obviously written with tongue in cheek! Be sure you check out the awesome song written by Tamie Dearen. The link is at the end of the story.
I am loving this series of holiday stories. They keep getting better. Once I started Haley's Hangdog Holiday, I got nothing else accomplished until I finished it. A wonderful, Christian romance with very believable characters and the bumpy road we travel. This story has humor, pathos, life changing illness, characters struggling to be better Christians, and lots of faith. The basset hounds add a whole other dimension to the book.I will read these again.

A Series You'll Want to Read Every Christmas

I read Noelle's Golden Christmas last year and enjoyed it so much, I couldn't wait to read Haley's Hangdog Holiday! The book didn't disappointed and I was unable to put it down.

Tamie Dearen does a beautiful job of taking realistic characters that you can't help but care about. They are so well-developed that, by the end of the book, these are people you'd like to know in person.

The situations that Haley and Gavin face in this book really touched me. I laughed, cried, and cheered for them both!

If you enjoy Hallmark Christmas movies, you'll love these books!
