Shadow Eater

Rate this book
The shadows can wait...

With Clay lost in the Shadowlands and Avery determined I honour our bargain, Apocalypse is no longer a haven, but a prison. Daemon is out of reach, and Avery and Cal watch my every move, but fate finally turns the tables in my favour. With Ryder’s arrival comes the chance of escape, and I’m not one to pass up an opportunity. Alone in the Shadowlands, with a compass called True and a pouch of magic beans, I’ll need to survive long enough to reach the dragon keep and somehow save my twin. Easy enough, until fate decides she’s done playing nice...

This is the second book in the Shadowlands series. Most of the book is taken up with Ash and Clay trying to find each other and being vastly apart. Clay travels with the dragon he befriended and winds up in the Saul district, where he encounters Jiva, a bunch of bats, and some other attackers.

The people of Saul want to keep the dragon, whom Clay has named Pearl, a prisoner until they think it will be safe for Pearl and Clay to leave. After a while, it looks as if it is never going to be safe there.

Ash, meanwhile, encounters numerous obstacles. She manages to escape from Apocalypse with Ryder to look for Clay, but it turns out that the person she thinks is Ryder is not Ryder at all. He vanishes, leaving her alone in the Shadowlands. She then meets up with another group of humans, these from a place called Haven, which is similar to Ash’s home, Shelter. But these humans don’t recognize her as human and seem unable to understand her when she talks. Daemon rescues her from them, destroying all but one girl, Em, who seemed almost to get that Ash was human too. Em, it turns out, has her own troubles there in Haven.

Meanwhile, Daemon and Ash travel across several lands, encountering unsavory characters known as the Duchess and the Prince before finally reaching the place known as the Keep, the home of the dragons.

There is a lot of action in the book, but not very much emotion aside from Ash’s lust for Daemon and Clay and Ash’s mutual determination to find each other – and even those seem to be mostly rather surface emotions. Actually, the dragon, Pearl, seems to be the most deeply feeling creature in the whole Shadowlands.

Shadow Eater by Amos Cassidy.
4 out of 5 stars.
I've been waiting for the second book in the Shadowlands series to be released for what seems like ages now, and finally it has been!
It picked up just where book one had left off in finding out that Clay was alive somewhere out in the Shadowlands. Needless to say, Ash wants to go and find him, but is prevented from doing so by the man in charge, Avery.
The only thing I wasn't too thrilled about was also having Em's input into this story as a main character, but then, it was probably unavoidable because of the storyline and her part in it.
I absolutely loved this book and now can't wait for book three to be released. Shadow Destiny is due out on the 28th February 2017, although keep in mind that the dates may change, and is up for pre-order in amazon now.
I'd recommend this book to all that are interested in fantasy, dystopian and a different sort of magical reality in your stories.

It was a little slow at first...

This book was pretty slow at first. And there were too many characters introduced which made it a little complicated to keep up with. It was just a little clunky but I’m guessing that the storyline is being set for the next book. Let’s hope the next book is better.

This second book in the Shadowlands series picks up where the first book left off. The story encompasses a strange and fantastical realm with interesting multifaceted characters. I can't wait to see where book 3 takes us.

Excellent continuation in the tale of Ashling.

I can't wait to read the conclusion of this adventure in the final book of this trilogy. To see if Ashling fulfills her Destiny.

Ash is stuck in a deal with Avery, a week of shadow eating and he will help her look for Clay.

Daemon isn't seeing her.

Ryder is saved from the Shadows by Ash and now knows the truth. But all isn't as it seems.

Clay is off flying on a Dragon looking for Ash and broken hearted of Blakes lie of Ash and her death.

This is how everyone starts at this book. So much drama, pain and heart. Holy hell does this story get to you. So much death and destruction, but amongst that Clay and Ash and the hope an faith of finding each other. Neither of them give up on the other, they just keep fighting to search. Unfortunately things get in the way for both of them, but they also have met friends along the way that help.
I adore Daemon, I know he is a beast and out of control sometimes BUT his connection to Ash is deep. They may believe it's something else but deep down you can feel it between them.

I loved and got hooked to the first book in this series and this second one was even better. Once again a cliffhanger ending but not all bad. The last book I feel is going to be intense and I'm not even going to try and guess what will happen. I just know I'm going to be impatient waiting for it. :)

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

A trip through the Shadowlands

I given a copy for my honest review.
Book 2 (Shadowlands) is an awesome read... I loved reading Shadow Eater... It was very captivating and full of action. I was pulled in from page one... I loved how the authors alternated characters with each chapter... It was like each character was telling there own story.
There is Ash who we find out in book 1 is a Shadow Eater... Her twin brother who is her twin who at the end of book 1 goes into the Shadow Lands to look for Ash and Bernadette (Bearnie) of whom we found out in Book 1 has her gender changed so that she could be a man.
In book 2 the story gets deeper... Ash learns more about herself and her powers... Ash also finds out that her brother Clay is looking for her in the Shadowlands and she wants to go find him.
While Clay is looking for his sister he runs into many creatures and different races of people. His only thought is of finding Ash and making sure that she is safe.
Does he give up hope in finding his sister? Does Ash find her brother?
For the answers you need to read the book... I did and I loved it and can't wait for book 3.

I absolutely loved where this story went! It is a great follow up to Shadow Reaper. We learn a lot more about our characters and the storyline stays pretty intense. We get to travel a lot more through the world the authors created, and they have made some pretty interesting places. I am hanging off the cliff at the end just waiting for book 3, Shadow Destiny.
