This is another entry in this fun little series about kids trying to keep their elementary school safe from monsters. My son Spenser loves it. The humor is good, and here and there Troy Cummings sprinkles in a life lesson I want my little adventurer to hear from someone other than his parents. This is a terrific series for young adventurers with curious minds.

My niece was excited about this series, so I wanted to see what the hype was about. I read it while sitting at the public library. I didn't care for it much at all. I wonder if it would have made more sense if I had read the first one or if there was more of an explanation at the beginning. If I read another one, I'd read the first one, but I don't know that I even want to do that.

The SSMP is going to confront Ms. Vanderpants about being the big boss on the 100th Day of School. Will it turn out ok?

The SSMP learn a very important lesson about jumping to conclusions or reading evidence wrongly because of a bias. Some really good discussions with kids could come out of this read. Rip's sudden monster abilities also get explained in this one, which helped me. I was wondering why he suddenly had abilities in the last book and this satisfied my questions. And now the SSMP still has a huge mystery on their hands. Definitely wish I had #13 to read right now. Huge cliffhanger at the end of this one.

Notes on content: Not scary and some really positive lessons in this series. There's a perilous situation or two but everyone seems ok or we trust they will be after the series ends.

{My thoughts} – Alexander thinks he has everything figured out in this book. He is still rather sad that Dottie is no longer a part of their monster hunting club, but he is moving past that. Rip and Nikki are still there with him and they are all stronger then ever. They think they know how the Boss Monster is but they aren’t entirely sure either. They decide to do some digging around and when all that information leads to their principal they decide to set a trap and try and catch her.

I can see how they came to that conclusion. However, was it the right one. I’d like to say yes, but you’ll have to read to find that out.

I really enjoyed this book and that the author is able to tie the story together with all the characters. I look forward to reading the last and final book in the series soon!

Now I am not reading these books alone. My son is reading every other paragraph, sometimes more. Its great, slower going, but I am done with these early readers. He is 75% there to be able to do it on his own, but would not choose too.

Also, we read this book together and I fully though it was the last one. So ready to be done with the series!
