In an old renovated stone silo, set atop a granite shelf overlooking a gravel pit, ropes hang from the walls. Attached to them are student climbers, including Dieter and Mark Leighton, two teens under the watchful eye of Mia, who has brought young Brian along with her. Bad weather moves in, bringing with it more than lightning, rain, and wind. Three things travel in lightning storms: they are Wanderers, dark wizards, and demons. Two of the three are headed for the silo. Can a very pregnant Mia protect the people trapped within? Will Ted, Cid, and Murphy arrive in time to save them?
In Chicago, beyond the velvet rope stands The Eighty-eight, a piano bar owned by Ralph’s friend Dash. He has requested PEEPs help in discovering who is haunting his new bar. So far, a few Irish ghosts have made their presence known, and the only casualties are a few broken bottles of alcohol. Upon PEEPs’ arrival, an entity of unknown origin is discovered. It brings with it a wave of grief so strong that it cannot be ignored. What is this Dark Watcher, and why is it there? Trouble comes in threes, and the supernatural aren’t the only threat for The Eighty-eight and PEEPs. Can they get to the heart of the matter before all is lost?
Meanwhile in Big Bear Lake, the unimaginable has happened. Someone has ghost-napped Edwin, the beloved ghost of the Gifford house, and Bea White, the new owner, wants him back. Tom Braverman steps in to lead the investigation. He hopes that, given enough rope, the kidnappers will reveal themselves, and Edwin will be rescued. But things are never as simple as they seem, and like the nature of rope, the investigation is twisted and full of knots.
“Given Enough Rope” is the 20th book of the “Haunted Series.”
My idea of a great vacation is a porch swing, view of the water and a pile of books to read. Once upon a time… I wonder if those words spoken to, or read for the first time, were the catalyst for the spark that lit the fire within us. To write and tell a story the way each of us does is a gift and a responsibility. We sometimes toil hours with an idea, or even just one sentence, not knowing if anyone beyond us will ever read our words. We do it for love. The love of bringing to light the world that resides inside our heads. It does not matter if we have a happy ending or a soulful gasp. What matters is that we put these thoughts on paper. So keep writing my friends. Keep taking us to the secret corners of your mind. Be brave. Tempt fate and above all enjoy.
Better than the last few books on the series. It felt more like the first PEEPS books that I fell in love with. More ghost and paranormal adventure and less Mia angstm. Although, Ted's insecurities around Mia's fidelity and the other males in the series is beyond boring, annoying and old. I liked getting to know Murphy's father, and learning of his relationship with the Callen brothers. I hope we are moving back to enjoyable PEEPS stories but undersigned myself to the author continuing to make all men creepy perverts or goons and all the women into either victims of bitches but. . . As well as continuing the tired and annoying Ted and Mia angst as well as the increasingly ridiculous modifications to Mia's nature. I skip over that Crap and enjoy the investigations.

Alexei Aaron is one of the best authors I have ever read. I feel like I personally know the characters in her books. I'm blown away by the creativity of he plot lines. I was sad when the book ended but the story wrapped up so perfectly. I loved the new character "keeper of the asylum"
I've read each of the 20 novels in this series, and each are a great story in and of itself, but I really love following the lives of PEEPS members! Alexie is awesome in her own right.
Another 5 star read from Alexie Aaron and the PEEPs team. I can't begin to explain what these books are about - there isn't room on the page! But what I can suggest is that you read them, and read them in order , and a wonderful world will open up to you with adventures you never thought possible!
As usual the story starts of with a bang. The three adventures provide opportunities for the characters to flesh out their personal pasts, tie up a few loose ends, and provide plenty of laughs. Loved how Mark, Mason, Dieter, and Patrick find a place in the PEEP's family. Murphys story was a surprise, but made me care about the character.
My only issue was finding several grammar and punctuation inconsistencies, and incorrect word use in the text. I can read past those but perhaps a proof reader needs to scan for these.
It's always nice to get another addition to the haunted series. Mila and Ted, and some we haven't seen in awhile. Brian is a precocious intelligent young man. Mila is once again pregnant, and Sabine, her cousin, helps the PEEPS team on this latest adventure. Maybe things are looking up for her also. The characters are great, the storyline is always interesting. Can't wait for the next installment.
This is one of my favorite series. Mia and the whole Peeps team keep me well entertained. Their son, Brian, is a hoot. Talk about a precocious child. He is adorable. I am always anxiously awaiting the next book. (I wish Alexie could write faster...LOL) If you haven't read this series, do so...you won't be sorry.
I enjoy these books I can't travel being a single mom with so little. When my girls are at school or asleep books are my escape. I didn't learn to read until I was older so I always tell my kids places you can get lost in when reading. I want them to love it as much as me.
I loved this book and hope their will be a 21st book. It starts off at a rock climbing that Kia drove her poster son and his friend too. Then 2 more cases. I will be looking for another book!!
i love this series. i can never get enough. i never feel the book drawn out. she packs so much in each story and it never feels rushed. i am always satisfied at the end of each book but also disappointed because i finished.
Totally hooked on this series and hope it never ends. Always thrilling and the story is awesome. The characters are wonderful and I simply love them and their lives. Keep going and tell us more Ms Aaron.
can't wait for the next one. I always check Alexie first. when looking for a new book. Have joined a book club and suggested we look first at this author. Keep up the great
Excellent, I love her books, and am always sad when I finish reading one. The characters are so engaging that you get caught up in their lives and miss them when you finish.
