➳A filthy boss, with a mind and character that will swoon you? COUNT ME IN!

➳This was a cute and sweet story. One that is easily found anywhere, meaning its cliche aspect is common. Harrison and Hanna have known each ever since they were kids, due to her brother’s relationship with Harrison. Hanna is taking a break from college, and her appearance to be Harrison’s temp for the summer is pretty accurate since he needs one ASAP! He has been lusting over her for a long time, but his attraction to her isn’t just only in the physical side, but also in the emotional. Though there is the risk of losing a friendship of Harrison’s, he knows that his feelings for her are much more stronger than the norm.

➳ As their friendship begins to evolve more and more once Hanna starts to work for Harrison, she has come to a conclusion that she cannot stay away from him. He cannot stay away from her either, making their attraction inseparable. I know this is a short review, but thats because the story itself felt like it was rushing but still got to the point of telling the story. This is the third book by Mrs. Perry that I have read, however nothing comes close to Hooker. Overall, I enjoyed this story a lot and I think Perry’s followers will enjoy it as well…

When I saw this book land on my Kindle I canceled my plans for the night and dove right in. I'm a sucker for a brothers-best-friend novel and this one had me all kinds of excited. A hot story of falling for your best friends sister with the bonus of a boss/employee relationship too? This is the jackpot of the year!

Harrison was one sexy character and I really liked getting his POV of how much he wanted Hanna. Not having the best home life as a child, he leaned on his best friend, Ethan and his family, to have some semblance of normalcy. But with Ethan comes his too tempting younger sister, Hanna, and now that Harrison is older it's getting harder and harder to stay away from her. He's wanted her since they were both young, but what he didn't know was that she wanted him just as much. And when she makes her attraction known Harrison isn't able to deny her, even if it means breaking the one true friendship he ever had.

This book is only my second read from JL Perry but I just knew she would deliver a hot as hell story of forbidden romance. I loved the chemistry that was between Harrison and Hanna and how they couldn't fight the attraction for long. There was the good amount of angst thrown in about their relationship being one not approved of by Ethan. It did kind of lose me in the middle when the drama started and seemed to take over the relationship. I would have much rather gotten to see more of Harrison and Hanna together rather than see them trying to share their relationship with Ethan in the best way.

Overall, I definitely enjoyed these two characters and the hotness they brought to this book. Even though I wish there was less drama I didn't let that ruin the book for me and I would still recommend it. If you're a lover of the brothers-best-friend trope like me than this is definitely one you want to read.

THE BOSS: is a sexy standalone Novella with a HEA, by #1 International Bestseller of Bastard, Hooker and Jax.

Before I get into the nitty gritty story line we need to go back first.
Harrison and Ethan have been best buddies as far back as he can remember. Harrison was always at Ethan’s place when things weren’t so great at home which was often, living under the roof of an alcoholic father and an absentee mother didn’t make for the kind of place he wanted to be in.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic He's more than just my best friend, he's my brother, He's been a part of my life for as long as I can remember; and he's helped shape me into the man I am today.

By the time Harrison hit his twenties he’d made his first million and Williams Enterprises was born.

Harrison to date has made 5 of his secretaries run crying out the door of his office never to return, finding out that he has an opening in his office has Hanna, Ethan’s sister asking to come and help out whilst UNI is on a break for eight weeks, only until he can find a permanent employee.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

With him fighting his attraction from afar how is he goIng to handle her when she’s right under his nose 24/7.

I need her
I want her
I crave her

Harrison has been struggling his inner demons with his undying attraction towards Hanna once his teens, being that she’s his best friends little sister sends up many taboo flags and he’s placed her in the off limits basket.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic I love woman. I love everything about them-pleasing them, kissing them f#cking them, and more than anything, I love hearing them scream out my name when I bring them over the edge.

But then to find out that Hanna has been harbouring feelings for him since she was younger ignites a spark neither can put out.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Oh my Hanna pulls those big guns out when she tries to show Harrison that she’s not that little girl that used to tag around with them when she was younger, she’s a hot little temptress now and she’s gunning for Harry, from the extra sway in her hips, to the seductive little touches, the shy little glimpses all entrap Harrison in her web.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic I've been in love with you since the moment you walked out of your back door when you were fifteen; in that tiny pink bikini. After my eyes landed on your spectacular rack, I've been walking around with a permanent boner for you ever since.

I was riveted from that very first page right up till the end, I loved everything about this book, even though this is a short read the author J.L.Perry knows how to pack a punch, and that has what's made her one of my top go to authors.

This extremely hot friends to lovers quick read is definitely one you don’t want to miss out on!!

I knew JL Perry could write ever since I fell in love with Carter in Bastard. She makes cocky heroes oh so tempting and they always seem to have hearts of gold. In THE BOSS, Harrison is no exception.

Known to have quite the reputation as a ladies man, Harrison is averse to commitment. His longest relationships lasted weeks. However, his crush on Hanna has lasted YEARS!! The only problem is that she's his best friend's little sister and essentially untouchable? Or is she? Find out what happens when Hanna reveals that the feelings are mutual.

That's all I'm going to say for the plot. It's light and easy with plenty of chemistry and some sexy times. The main focus of the story is the feelings involved and how virtually nothing can stand in the way of love.

The story basically follows Harrison, who had a really rough childhood but now, he's all grown up and is a really successful businessman.
He falls for his best friend's little sister, Hanna. It is basically their love story.
I can't say anything else because of spoilers.

The writing was really simple, therefore it was easy to read. I really enjoyed it. It was a sweet kinda love story.

Hanna and Harrison were giving me all the feels.

A word of advice, This book contain some steamy scenes too. So if you are not into that kinda stuff, don't read it then.

I really liked how the story is written predominantly from Harrison's POV. It's not too often that you see this in novels but it's great being able to see inside the hero's head and realize just how deeply he cares for the heroine. Definitely a strong selling point of this novella. I also enjoyed that he made something of himself despite his background. I just think that with a background that's so awful, much more detail needed to be added. We're told of his issues, but then are never shown how this affects him.

"Why is it so hard for people to love me?"

Hanna seemed fine, though there was absolutely nothing to help connect the reader to her. I found that her character just didn't have substance. At times she was naive and her actions were quite predictable. I understand why she made certain decisions, but that doesn't mean they were the right ones.

I really wanted to like this novella. It sounded right up my alley but the character development and storyline ultimately fell short. I get that this was originally written as a short story and for an anthology, but I was underwhelmed. Even if it's a novella, I feel like there are some big holes that needed to be filled. It's suppose to be a condensed, but full story. Not just bits and pieces of two peoples lives.

Definitely a bonus that this is a quick and easy read. Sometimes you just want to curl up on the couch at night with a short book and dive in! I know that's a regular occurrence at my house.

My biggest issue has to be the drama component. I get that with the conflict in a story comes drama and angst. Believe me, I'm fine with that, I love angst! But in The Boss it was so overdone and piled on, I couldn't really enjoy it how I normally would. It was drawn out, ridiculous and the characters were acting like such children, I couldn't believe it. It felt like there was nothing else in the story at this point so it just had to be filled with drama.

"I feel guilty for breaking my promise to Ethan, but at the same time, I have no regrets. Those few short minutes I spent with her, will go down as one of the highlights of my life."

All in all, this read is fine if you want someone quick and dirty, just don't go expecting substance. It's a little cliche, but a lot predictable. Perfect if you're looking for an in between read.

3.5 review to come!!

Harrison and Ethan have been best friends since they were kids. Harrison really depended on Ethan's family for support when times were rough at home. Which was often!

Years later Harrison is a successful business mogul and is still best friends with Ethan. After all these years Harrison has still not admitted to any one that he has feelings for Hanna, Ethan's sister.

Hanna has loved Harrison since she was a kid. But things could never worked out because of how close he is to her brother.

When Hanna is home from uni and Harrison needs an assistant things get hot and heated and sparks begin to fly!

ARC of The Boss by J.L. Perry was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.

Harrison is a self made man who allowed his less-than-stellar childhood be his motivator to becoming a successful businessman who can afford to buy whatever he wants. He can quit and still be able to live comfortably if he chooses, but he doesn't want to as he loves what he does. He's on the hunt for a new secretary since the previous ones left in tears, literally. His last five secretaries weren't competent enough in his opinion.

Harrison greatly opposes when his best friend and his wife suggests Hanna Scott to be his replacement secretary. He simply can't have that. He can't have Hanna around him for long periods of time. He can't control what he feels for her, the girl he's been lusting after since she was fifteen years old. Hanna Scott also happens to be his best friend's little sister. There is no way he's ever going to cross the line with her and ruin a great friendship. He doesn't want to take that risk.

The more Harrison works with Hanna, the more his control slips. He's having a hard time keeping his feelings for her in check. Failing to keep Hanna in the dark about what he feels isn't working. He's caught twice sniffing her, liking the way that she smells and Hanna calls him out on it. What's even more crazy to Harrison, is that Hanna is reciprocating his interest in her.

Like Harrison, Hanna has wanted him as long as she can remember. She wants him. She wants him to touch her, to kiss her and taste her, and to feel him inside her. She wants to do the same to him as well. She has craved him for the longest time. She intends to do something about it. She plans to put herself out there and she does just that.

This book is a quick read, but I just felt that it was filled with too much drama and that it dragged on in some parts which was my only issue with it. I give it a three star rating ⭐⭐⭐.

LOL

This was such a fun, quick read. The first part of the novel was so funny and entertaining, as we got a glimpse of Harrison's internal monologue. He desperately tries to resist his feelings for Hannah, his best friend's little sister. He has spent his life protecting her, but can he protect her from his lustful thoughts and does she want to be protected? This book has made me want to read more by this author.

5 star Review The Boss by J.L. Perry
Although not a particularly long read, J.L. Perry still managed to give me everything I wanted. This was one of those books that I did not want to put down. I was riveted from the first to the last page.
I love the genre of friends to lovers and this book was certainly that. Hanna is the younger sister of Harrison’s best friend Ethan. It feels like he has known her all his life and in truth he has lusted and fantasised over her since he was seventeen. In fact Ethan, his wife Michelle (I loved her) and Ethan’s family have always been there for Harrison.
When circumstances bring Hanna to work in Harrison’s office, he has no idea of the turmoil that is about to launch itself in his life. If he thought wanting her from afar was difficult, what happens when she is with him constantly? Even more worrying is that it appears Hanna feels the same about him; will Harrison and Hanna give in to the attraction they both feel?
This was a roller-coaster read as you could almost feel the angst and struggle that Harrison goes through trying to do the “right” thing by his friend. His loyalty to his friendship, a bond that saved him on numerous occasions from a truly sad childhood, is one that he doesn’t want to jeopardise.
However, he doesn’t count on Hanna’s determination to explore the feelings that are so obviously shared. The chemistry between these two was magical and you just knew reading this story that these two are meant to be together.
I will admit I would love to revisit this couple a few years down the track. Hint, hint Ms. Perry.

An engaging short read.

I really enjoyed this short read - normally I prefer novellas to be about characters that already have a previous book so the novella is a further extension of their story, but JL Perry has written a novella that is a great read as a standalone, and I did not get to the end and feel like I needed more story ( although I would happily read more if there was ever more written!! ).

I loved watching Harrison and Hanna come together, even though they faced some emotional times during the process. Ethan was really not my favourite person, but I was so happy when it all fell into place. Although this book was quite emotional at times, it was also funny in places and made me smile. Harrison is quite the character.

THE BOSS is the boss of ALL THE books!!
Seriously, this book had me on tender hooks!! Hot, sexy and so riveting!!
I want my own Harrison Williams so badly!!! Holy hotness that is Harrison!!
Hanna is Ethan's younger sister and offers to help Harry as his assistant in the short term! Secretly she has been lusting after him for so many years, likewise in Harrison's case too! Can they work together and not resist their base desires?? Read it to find out!
You are in for a sexy, emotional and tumultuous ride!!
An absolute must read!!!

Great short read... this book had everything you'd want from a novella! It had passion, deception, love, family & friendship. Harrison had wanted Hanna since she was 15 years old but she was his best friends sister so he kept his distance. He also hadn't wanted a relationship and worked his way through women, dating but not getting attached. When Hanna comes to work for him their mutual passion erupts and the consequences for all are high, when life long friendships are tested... highly recommend this book it's a great short read.

This was an easy, quick read with some serious hot scenes and sad past memories that will make you love these characters from beginning to end.

I've really enjoyed this story and even if it isn't long as much as J.L Perry's previous works it is still interesting, compelling and it will make you share some tears but in the end it will leave you with a smile on your face.

I highly recommend it if you like office romance novels and best friend's little sister romantic interest.

A short story that delivered. I don't think making this story longer would have changed how good it is, it has everything you need. The short read doesn't stop this from being a great read. I found myself teary eyed during most of this book.
It's a heartbreaking but beautiful story.
Jodi becoming a must read for me, I can't believe she was able to compact so much into this story and you don't feel disappointed. Lots of feels and emotions and another great read

“You always want what you can’t have… it’s human nature.”

Since reading Hooker, I have read every book J.L. Perry has released, and I will continue to do so! The story of Harrison and Hanna was beautiful, emotionally intense and full of heat. J.L. Perry’s writing is fluid, the pace is perfect and the characters are so attaching! This book was absolutely unputdownable.

Despite the odds, Harry Williams has become a very successful business owner in the cut-throat real estate industry. In his professional life, he is ruthless and driven, in his private life, he is a sworn bachelor who has never been in a relationship for a long period. It’s obvious that is primary focus has been his business and he can be a very demanding boss. He grew up in a poor and dysfunctional family and found his motivation in his desire to be nothing like his parents. This hero is confident and yet so vulnerable.

The only woman he has ever wanted is his best friend Ethan’s little sister, Hanna Scott. Hanna is the woman of his fantasy and he considers her more than a friend. He wants a common future with her. Harry is definitely a genuine character, a bit complicated but very endearing! He is convinced that he can’t be in a relationship with Hanna, though. Ethan doesn’t trust him with his sister, and he refuses to lose his best friend or the only real family he ever had. The Scott family has been a constant source of support since his childhood. With them, he felt he was home.

“I don’t think she has any idea, but she undoes me on so many levels. She’s on my mind from the time I wake, until the time I go to sleep. Even then I dream about her.”

Although Harry is fighting his all-consuming attraction to Hanna, things get complicated when she steps in as his temporary personal assistant. Hanna is a wonderful heroine, she is sweet, caring, sassy and has deep feelings for Harry. She has decided it’s time for her to act on those feelings. Does Harry stand any chance of resisting her?

The Boss is a heartwarming, sexy, uplifting and elegantly written short story that tugged at my heartstrings. The dual point-of-view was well-done, with a particular mention for Harry’s perspective. I loved this story and would definitely recommend it.

A short story that packs a punch. JL Perry has delivered another winner that you will be craving more of. This book has you hooked from the get go, and definitely has all the "feels" that we love to read about. If you love reading humour, hot sexy office romances, friends to lovers then this is a book you must read.
Harrison and Hanna have known each other for years, she's the sister of his best friend Ethan and that's a no go area. Harrison is the hot, sexy, alpha male boss of his own company and has a reputation with the ladies but has secretly lusted after Hanna since he was 17.
When circumstances bring them together at work the sparks fly and you can guess what happens then. The heat from these two will have you fanning your face while reading. Of course it wouldn't be the same without a little family drama and interference so when Ethan finds out what his best friend and little sister are up to you know what's going to hit the fan.
Ethan's wife Michelle is a key character in this book and you will love her too. She is the one who sees it all and has done for quite sometime and won't hold back at keeping Harrison and Hanna together.
I have throughly enjoyed this short story from JL Perry and would honestly love another one to follow on from this one.

I love a brother's best friend / little sister romance. I think it is because they have known each other for so long, then become a couple, that it has some truth and reality to the story. And this novella has that exact feel to it. There is plenty of angst and emotion and lots of steamy bits to keep you turning the pages.

I also liked the background of Harrison, that he came from a dysfunctional family but could still rise above and make a name for himself, keeping a level head. He is the type of character that has some growth as well within the book when he realises his feelings are more than he thought he could ever achieve with his history. Hanna is a head strong girl, and is selfless when it comes to her family and Harry.

This is a quick read that you will love. Even the secondary characters are a stand out. The multiple POV's are always a treat as we get so many different perspectives.

Where do I start with this book, it's has everything that you would hope for from a short book. It has passion, betrayal, lost love and the forbidden don't mess with your best friends little sister.

This book is packed with emotions and I found I cried a real lot reading this. I love how well JL Perry manages to pack it full of so much emotional baggage that it just ends up breaking you with every page you read.

I loved all the characters but especially Harrison. He was the typical playboy and is knocked for six by Hanna the forbidden little sister. Although the female character of the book for me was Michelle, the no nonsense, straight talking friend and sister in law, Ethan's better half.

This is such a beautiful quick read that you will be left feeling like you have read a full length novel. I really recommend this great book and hope to hear from the character again.  Michelle needs her own book.

Arc given by author for an honest review.

I have been following this author since she published her first book.

I am not much of a fan for short reads and when this author said this book was shorter than her other books. I was very doubtful that she would give us a great quality read. I am so used to this author books being longer that I was surprised to lose myself in such a short read. But I am so glad that I took a chance and read The Boss and meet Harrison and Hanna the chemistry was there between this couple I ended up being surprised by how for a short book but JL Perry still seem to drag me in between the pages. I got so lost in the story I wish there was more. But it was a great short read.

You will never lose me as a fan JL Perry. I am a fan for life. Grey hair and a rocking chair and I will still be reading your hot naughty reads.

***ARC Provided by the Author***

I waffled on the rating for this book. It wasn't the best novella I have ever read, there were a couple of things about it that didn't work for me. But there were things I really liked too, so it was a tough review to write.

I think novellas are hard to write. You want to be able to tell the whole story, but you have less time, and words in which to tell it. This can make the flow of the book a little difficult, and I think ultimately the pacing of this one was a little uneven. Parts of the book were a little slow, parts moved at the speed of light. I also thought the reaction and actions of some of the supporting characters were not quite right, which made those parts a little tough for me.

Overall, I enjoyed the novella, but I did think the effort to put too much into the second part of the story resulted in the pacing being uneven.

**Fans self** That was quite the sexy and entertaining little story! J L Perry has quickly become one of my go to authors- whatever she puts out, I want to get my hands on it! Her novels are sexy, fun and completely captivating- The Boss is no exception! This scorching friends to lovers romance is something you don’t want to miss!

There are times when a novella seems too short and you feel like there wasn’t enough content to really develop the characters and relationships, such is not the case with The Boss. Ms. Perry’s novella delivered well developed characters that I could connect with emotionally- I believed in their love. If you’re in the mood for a quick and steamy read, I highly recommend The Boss.

Oh wow! What an amazing story! Once again, Jodi Perry hits us with a story that grasps you from start to finish.

Written with such passion and emotion, I was completely swept away by Harrison and Hanna. Hanna is the sister of Harrison’s best friend. Unbeknownst to each other, they’ve both been in love with each other for years. Let’s just say, sparks fly, fists fly, family drama is ensued, and pasts are unfolded. It’s heartbreaking, heartwarming, and full of emotion! You’ll be touched by all of the characters.

Filled with humor, passion, sorrow, betrayal, and love, I was hit with so many emotions throughout this story. It didn’t feel like a short story at all. I laughed, swooned, cried, and loved. I didn’t want it to end! A definite must read.

For a novella this book had an amazing story line, with plenty of emotion, in depth story, was well paced and perfectly executed.

The story of Harrison and Hanna is sweet, being in love with your best friends sister is like breaking the friendship code. When her feelings are reciprocated is it worth taking the risk and ruining a friendship for? Can a friendship and family bond be put back together?

Though Harrison may be known as a man whore his sweet side with Hanna is adorable. These two are perfect for each other. Hanna's selfless ways are a testament of the beautiful character she has been portrayed as.

Once again jodi L Perry has written a book that has held me captive and withdraw from the real world until the last page

What a beautiful and tender love story!
This is the first time I read about Hanna and Harrison although their story was part of an anthology.
I simply loved Harrison. At first Hanna seemed a little juvenile for me but as the story evolves, I felt she became more confident which is a huge step to the story.
Don't be mistaken: this is not just a short story. This is a wonderful and very well written short story.
J. L. Perry has a special talent with words and she knew, once again, how to captivate me.
I seriously loved their story and I highly recommend it.
Thank you Jodi for another excellent book of yours.

received an ARC for an honest review
Hannah has known Harrison since she was a child, she is no longer a child but can she make Harrison see her for the woman she has become, rather than the little sister of his best friend. This short story is a fun quick read that delves into those awkward relationships that can make or break friendships and families. Written with both a sense of humour and an understanding of the drama that families can inflict upon their own loved ones this is a well plotted fast paced story that is sure to please most readers
