This books was so tediously long!! By 30% of the way through I felt like the book was almost over, I couldn't imagine what the other 70% contained. I started skimming just to find out what the big twist was and yes you don't really figure out who the villain is until towards end (about 75%) but by that point I didn't care anymore. I stopped reading after that. The characters and dialogue are rather flat and like others have pointed out it is in desperate need of an editor.

I wanted to like this book but it was just rife with problems. It had a good basic story, but extremely poor editing. Grammar errors galore and one of my pet peeves-a British author writing about American characters in America but having them use British words that we never would. Also the story ends and leaves too many things unsaid that left me confused.

1.5 stars DNF @ 68%, storyline was ok but predictable. I felt it was dragging a bit. I liked the characters but not enough development in my opinion.

My take:

I was contacted by Ms. Grace regarding reviewing A Fresh Start. I readily agreed to review after reading the book description. It had me intrigued about the novel's plot. This is the first book that I've read by Trisha Grace and if every book sucks you in and keeps you wanting to read and read and read (and try to finish it in one sitting) I want to read them all!

I started reading this book while traveling with my husband recently. I was drawn into the book from the first page and had a hard time doing anything else, talking to my husband during our drive was pretty much out - that is until he started asking about what I was reading. I gladly filled him in every time I took a break. He seemed interested in the book, particularly toward the end.

Paige and Drew (Andrew) in the opening scene have you intrigued by what has happened for this to be the solution. It feels like the start to a good action or suspense movie and by the way I was captivated by the book description, let alone the first page - it could be!

From the sounds of it, I want to move to Pine, Wyoming. I am "in love" with the idea of the West. I've traveled out there some and it has a mystique that I love and am drawn to. You don't read many book set in Wyoming unless they are through and through Western - type romances, but other than some references to places in the area, this book could be set anywhere but I love that it is set in Wyoming nonetheless.

Justin Doyle seems like the boy next door and apparently was just that for Amanda and Travis growing up and the three were childhood friends and continue to be close.

Ah! The Seymour's - you feel like you know them personally, they feel like your grandparents or that nice old couple from the restaurant, the store, church (anywhere really!).

Paige has run to Wyoming for a reason and wants to feel safe. Justin ends up helping her repair her house due to God's mysterious ways. The story between them is so very captivating and might be the first story I've read of it's kind. (We've all seen a Lifetime movie or two with a similar plot though.) The plot twist BLEW MY MIND!

If you are looking for a good read (not light by any means - this is a lengthy book and I was so glad. I didn't want to put it down.)and you like a little bit of romance, a touch of small town life, and SUSPENSE then do yourself a favor and pick up A Fresh Start by Trisha Grace.

I would love to see a sequel or even a prequel to this story!

Side note: Yes, like others mentioned there are some text/editing issues. Although, I believe that the author is not a native English speaker and as such there are slight wording problems. THIS DOES NOT DETRACT FROM THE STORY IN MY OPINION.

*I was provided an e-copy of A Fresh Start by Trisha Grace in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to provide a positive review. All opinions are my own.

Romance, Fear, and Faith

This is a sweet simple romance with a touch of mystery, and an undercurrent of Christian faith. Paige Watson, a twenty-four year old educated girl living in New York City, suddenly left her mortgaged home, all of the furniture and took off with one suitcase of clothing, left no forwarding address nor even resigned from her job. Her brother Andrew, injured in Afghanistan, leaving him with a prosthetic leg, advised and helped her. He was a large man, extremely strong and over-protective of his sister. He was always there for her. On his advice, she sought a small town far away where no one would ever think to look for her. She drove until she ended up in Pine Bluffs, Wyoming, near Cheyenne. She was on limited funds and when house hunting, she found a fixer-up at an extra ordinary low price, which she purchased. Later when questioning the realter about this, she learned that the house was on the market a long time because a woman had committed suicide there and it was considered by the townsfolk to be haunted. In fact, the locals identified her as the woman with the haunted house.
The neighbors, Victor and Celia Seymour, introduced themselves immediately and invited her to stay with them while the house was being renovated. They also introduced her to Justin Doyle, a carpenter, who made his income on flipping houses. There was an immediate attraction between the two when they met, and he undertook the renovation. He understood she was on a budget and he was so enamored with her that he didn’t charge her for his labor and helped her pick out the necessary products to do a good renovation. He was secretive about his past as she was also about hers. And it became a game as to who would reveal their past the soonest.
Up to now, the story did not reveal why she left New York as she did, but eventually it came to light when her past caught up with her and she was in danger. Both her brother and Justin stretched themselves to the utmost to protect her. She suffered some emotional trauma and when she did, she called on God for that was her bulwark for life. Although the story was not a page turner, it did have the usual romantic appeal and it flowed nicely to include the flashbacks to help set up the story. Although the other reviews criticized grammar errors, typos, etc., I have been informed that it has been edited and cleaned up.
I was given a complimentary copy for an honest review. I found it entertaining and the last third of the book picks up speed because of the mysteries that were just coming to light.

I was given this book for free in exchange for an honest review, it in no way guarantees a positive review.

Paige needs a fresh start; she has demons worse than the haunted house she just bought. When house-flipper Justin shows up to help her make a home of her new purchase, her world flips upside down. Old ghosts from the past are angered by her new happiness and the past will have to be dealt with before Paige can truly start over.

The hook in this story is a good one, the story itself flows very well and the suspense builds right where it should. If you are looking for a good suspense novel with some romance, the story will hold you. You will think you know exactly what is going to happen by the middle, but the plot twist toward the end is a very good one.

I firmly believe that this author would have a very good following if the book were edited. There are no two-ways about it, the novel needs it. I will adjust my star rating if I find out that this book has seen an editor’s desk. I would gladly have given it an additional star but for that fact.

A Fresh Start Suspense and Romance

This is a story of God, and how he works in our lives in every situation. The characters are vividly drawn and believable. The plot is strong and keeps the reader guessing almost to the end. This book is full of suspense and romance, and the closeness of family and friends. It also presents the Gospel in concrete ways as it works in the lives of the Characters. The only problem I found was that some of the sentences are a bit awkward and the word order seems unusual. Overall, however, this does not detract from the story. I recommend this book to anyone who loves Christian novels filled with not only romance, but a healthy dose of suspense.

Justin ,Paige ,Andrew, Travis

Paige was being stalled. She tried reporting it to the police but they couldn't do anything. Her brother Andrew thought she should pick a small town. Tell nobody and move there. Paige bought a haunted house that needed a of work. Her neighbor suggested Travis. Travis wife had fallen to Julian said he would start it for Travis. Things were going well until old boyfriend shows up. Then the stalker finally finds her. A great love story filled with suspense and small town gossip.

I enjoyed this for the most part but in my opinion it would have been a better book without the "twist" And lovely as Justin was there was no evidence that he thought of himself as a Christian.

Great book

I couldn't out it down. I had to keep reading to see how everything played out in this story. Paige had a stalker and she had to leave her whole life behind to try to get away from him. She met Justin when he came to bid for a job working on her house. There was an instant connection.
I really enjoyed this book but it was a nail-biter!

I really enjoyed this Christian novel. It shows that God is with us at all times we only need to rely on him. The story has the right amount of romance and the suspense had me throughout the story.

Badly needs editing

Overall it was a cute story, but the lack of proper editing got on my nerves and the stalker storyline didn’t fully make sense.

I really enjoyed Trisha Grace's book A Fresh Start. The story captured my attention right away. Paige is hiding from someone and with the help of her brother runs to hide in Wyoming. While living there she does not expect to be found and to find romance at the same time.

I liked that Grace made Paige's brother Andrew a wounder warrior. I wish more stories had wounded warriors in them to remind people of the ones who serve our country and the sacrifices they have given. I also liked Paige's neighbors, The Seymours. I wish I had neighbors like them. The story does have some religious tones to it, but never does the reader feel as if they are being forced to listen to a sermon. The story is a little predictable at times but keeps you guessing as to who is actually stalking Paige.

I wanted to give this story 5 stars but there are a few errors throughout the book. I did like Grace's style in writing and would love to read more of her work.

I couldn't put this book down once I started reading it. The story was well developed and both of the pasts of the hero/heroine were exposed early on so that the reader is not always wondering. There was a sweet romance (clean and totally PG rated), but the book doesn't totally revolve around the romance. I was expecting the romance to be more dominant, but it was excellent the way that it became secondary to the overall plot line. The heroine was a strong person who stood up for what is right no matter the cost. I would gladly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a sweet romance and suspense-filled novel

A Fresh Start is an engaging novel with well drawn characters and two people who fall in love but don’t sleep together—something you don’t see much of these days! The plot is well thought out and the heroine ingeniously uses something that has always been a problem for her as a means for escaping from a dangerous situation. This novel would be even better with some copy editing—my impression is that English is not the writer’s first language, and there are some odd language usages that are jarring to the American reader.

This would have been a,great story but the profanities ruined it for me. It was totally unnecessary and very disappointing. This is a Christian fiction genre and the author's use of crude language clearly was inappropriate for a Christian.

This would have been a good story but the author's use of profanity ruined the novel. The crude language was totally unnecessary to establish ing character or support of the storyline. How disappointing that a Christian would think or include inappropriate language.

I really wanted to give this book a better review. I liked the characters and the story was very entertaining, but the book is in desperate need of an editor. Between grammar mistakes and language use not consistent with a book set in the U.S. I found myself having a hard time finishing the book.
I'm glad I finished because it is a good story, but this is not an author I will want to read again.

This was a really interesting read.

The first half, I admit, was kinda blah. It took me a long time to get into it. But the second half! It got pretty intense there for a while! And the first half had to be written for the second half to have a solid foundation to build on. Yes, it’s a Christian novel, but it doesn’t bang you over the head with preaching like some novels do. I always appreciate that.

4 stars.
