Wolf's Mate #3

Saving Sorell

Rate this book
Running from a tortured past, Felix uses discipline and control to survive. Stuck in an abusive relationship, Sorell will do anything to protect his pack.

Sorell may only be twenty-three but he knows how bad things can be and he’ll do anything to protect his new pack—his only family. Even if that means ignoring his feelings for the sexy pack doctor, Felix, and staying in a toxic relationship with a dangerous and violent man.

Lust brings them together, love will keep them there.

Felix wasn’t trying to find love, especially not with a younger man. He’s never been attracted to a man before he met Sorell and he’s still coming to terms with the horrors he witnessed during his last tour as a doctor in rough, foreign lands. The only way he can function is by keeping his days measured and controlled—until he sees Sorell, the only man he’s ever had feelings for, sacrifice himself for the sake of the pack.

Will they give in to their urges or will they forfeit their love to guard their pack?

Sorell is set on sacrificing his own safety for the greater good, but Felix’s dominant nature is only growing stronger and he’ll face the whole world if that’s what it takes to save Sorell.

Saving Sorell is book three of the Wolf’s Mate Mpreg Romance series but can be read as a standalone. It features first time gay tropes and themes involving an exchange of power.

*I received a free ARC in exchange of an honest review.*

*some spoilers in it*

This was a great book. I loved Sorell and Felix. They were both strong yet struggling characters. And the plot progressed amazingly from the previous book in the series.

Felix had me feeling sad for him, with his nightmares and his confusion over his feelings for Sorell. But I was elated to see that the author didn't drag out the moment when he realised that he actually wanted Sorell and did not care for him as a doctor only. It gave a lot of emphasis on how they then worked bloody hard to stay together and safe.

Sorell had me giving my heart to him right from the first chapter. It was terrible what all he had to go through in his relationship with the stupid pack master, Isaac. And he wasn't even allowed to leave? Isaac, you frikkin asshole! And when he finally got the courage to end it completely, he got his family threatened, making him feel stuck. It was painful when he got dejected after that point.

But it was fun to see Felix come through for Sorell, and not just physically, by getting heightened senses and increased strength. He came through for Sorell emotionally too. He seemed to know what it was that Sorell craved and how to give it to him without causing Sorell any discomfort.

The only issue I had was that maybe the intimacy scenes could have been reduced in number. I think there were maybe four or five scenes. And I get that the author needed to show us how their D/S relationship got established, but it isn't as if they struggled with it. Sorell had a great time right from their first scene together. It was just a matter of showing us various ways. And I honestly skipped a couple. Because the plot is so engrossing, I wouldn't have minded just a vague allusion to them doing the dirty and rather have the plot unfurl so that I could get to the end.

Oh, and there are way too many typos. I hope they get thrown out in the final edition.

But this series has me completely hooked. I can't wait to read the next one. And I am hoping that Frannie will get her love life started in it.

4.5 stars. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to read and review it.

This series is getting better and better. Felix and Sorell are just so perfect for each other, and Felix is one tough cookie too! There were a couple surprises in this book, especially the one at the end. I am now very curious what is going to happen in Pippen's book and what all is in his past. Pippen is so full of spunk, he's my favorite guy in this series so far.

Great read, You have the Love story developing between Felix (the packs human DR) and Sorell who is currently trapped in an abusive relationship with another pack's Alpha. Felix has to come to terms with his attraction and protectiveness of Sorell, as well as newly improved senses. Sorell Tries to keep his pack members and Felix safe by staying with his abusive partner, even though he only ever went with his partner because he needed someone to take his attraction of Felix who is human and straight.

All comes to a head and Felix takes charge of Sorell's safety and life like Sorell has been yearning for. But this causes conflicts for Sorell, his abusive partners threats are one and the fact Felix demands that Sorell obeys him over Sorell's pack alpha. I found myself drawn into the story, the world was described well and real and believable characters.

This honest review has been given in return of a free Arc copy.

Definitely a fun read

Well written, very enjoyable. If these are her first books, I look forward to seeing Kiki progress. Shifter love, family, friends, babies (mpreg) and a crazy alpha all make for a fun, fast read.

I didn't like this one as much as the first couple in the series. Sorrell was with an abusive boyfriend, who was pack leader of a different pack, because he was being threatened with the safety of his friends and family. Felix is the brother of Finn and Frannie, acts as the pack doctor, and pretty much keeps to himself. It starts off with Sorrell being attracted to Felix, but it isn't until Felix sees Sorrell pretty much being abused that he finds himself protective of Sorrell. It seems like he almost made the situation worse at times. When they finally got together, though, it seemed to go pretty quickly. I couldn't quite figure out what it was that they liked about each other. It kind of glossed over their character connection and made it a BAM insta-love type of situation. One thing I did love, however, was that human Felix ended up the Alpha instead of the other way around. That was a cool take on the trope, and I liked that a lot.

This one kinda has like a similar plot from the first book which I didn't like.

Also much more complicated than the first two
They didn't explain much of why felix a human could turn into one or not into one idk how to explain this- cause he changed but not into a wolf but he's like a half shifter it would've been better if felix can turned fully into a wolf tho maybe something change in his blood during his enlistment.

Also so many unnecessary side characters for the set up for the other books which I didn't quite appreciate.

Not broken

I got mad when Finn and Luke were talking about Sorell and Felix being broken, because I don't think either of them were. Wired differently yes, broken no. Perfect for each other definitely.

Contains slight BDSM

Oh this book is heart wrenching. In a good way but still. We are back with the pack and this time it is Sorell's story. And what a story it is.

Sorell is one of the young ones of the pack, but he knows how tough life can be. With his old pack he has been through hell on Earth and now he is stuck in a relationship that he doesn't want but has to stay in because he is being blackmailed. He will do anything he can to save his pack, including being beaten himself to keep everyone out of harm's way. That's a huge sacrifice he is always making for such a young wolf. And a glimpse into the kind of person Sorell is. And I love that.

During all this, the pack doctor, Felix (who is also Finn and Frannie’s brother from books 1 & 2), is watching Sorell come home with bruises at every turn and it is getting to him. Sorell has been in love with Felix but doesn't think it will ever be returned because Felix is straight. But Felix is enamored of Sorell as well and wants to do anything he can to save Sorell from what he is going through. Felix sees that Sorell is hiding something and wants to be his protector and more. He wants Sorell to be his.

After a vicious beating on the night of Sorell's birthday, we start to see things change with these two and I couldn't be happier, because these two deserve each  other. Sorell and Felix are both broken characters who don't know how to love. Both men have so much to work out before they can be what the other needs. Sorell needs someone to show him loving dominance while Felix needs to exert his control and care for another. However, Felix's demons hold him back from giving his all in an effort not to cross the line and become someone he doesn't want to be again. Eventually circumstances overcome the past and these men get exactly what they need.

The sex is everything both could ever want. But it's not just about sex. It's about life and finding that someone who fulfills every part of each other's lives. For these two it's amazing because when you read what they have been through, you can't help but want to see them happy. I root for them to be with each other because they love each other so much and need each other.

I love that Felix doesn't care that he's human. To him he's the alpha for Sorell. I love that Sorell finally feels safe and protected. Even though he finds it frustrating at times, he knows he's loved. And although life is still throwing curve balls at them, they find a way for them to make it work and keep going strong. Sometimes it's a bit of spanking. Heehee.

This series is just so good and I hope that you all are reading with me and enjoying them as much as I am. The author has a way of keeping you hooked til the very end and I love that. Can't wait to see what happens next as we get into Pippen’s story. See you soon!

This book was so unique! This genre is full of alpha shifters who find a human mate and that mate's physiology is changed to be an omega, but this is the first time I've read about an omega finding a human mate and that causing the human to take on alpha shifter characteristics.

I thought that Sorrell was a fun mix of your typical alpha & omega traits - he longs to submit and be taken care of, but he is also fiercely loyal and determined to protect everyone that he loves from Issac and his pack. Felix was a very complicated character, and I certainly wasn't expecting the reveal about his past in Zambia to end up being what we got (but that was a good thing).

While not my favorite in the series, this was an excellent read and definitely one that I will read again.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Just when I think that this series cannot possibly get any better it does. Kiki is an amazing author who keeps coming up with a better book with each one hat comes out.

I have to admit this is probably my favorite so far in the series. Though I loved the past two books and the characters, Felix and Sorell have been my favorite characters so far.

I guess the reason behind it is because both of these men was broken when they came together and no one expected them to make it. But the thing is just because you are broken does not mean you cannot be pieced back together again. You may have a few jagged edges but you can still find a new whole.

All it took was these two men coming together and finding in each other what the other needed. They craved the same things in life and love so it made them perfect for each other. But all is not smooth sailing since someone from Sorells past not only threatens him but everyone he loves and holds close to him.

Can the pack come together to save each other or will the enemy get the upper hand?

Another exciting read from an amazing author. Can't wait to start the next book in this series as soon as possible.

So I wanted to love this book... I mean I kind of did. I just don't think it was for me. Sorell was abused horribly and he had no control over his life. After Sorell and Issac were over, Felix came in quickly to take control of Sorell. I know that this is a dynamic some people like, but I guess I'm not a fan. I like dominating alphas, but I think Sorell's past abuse made it hard for me to feel like their relationship was on equal footing. I mean at one point Sorell backed away from Felix because he was scared, and Felix said in his mind something like "yea you better be scared". What the hell dude!! And then Felix expected Sorell to be vulnerable in every sense of the word, while Felix wasn't giving his mate the same energy. It doesn't feel fair for me that Sorell would get punished for something, yet Felix would do the same shit to him. d/s is okay for me, but I need to feel like the couple are equals in the relationship. I know that a lot of people like the dynamic this book has. If you read my review and didn't mind the points that upset me, I think you'll really enjoy this book.

I loved this book! It continues the ongoing story of an unlikely pack. All your old friends are back. A new enemy, danger, loyalty, bravery, mm sex, kink, mpreg, and a new type of alpha. Kiki has expanded her wonderful world.
This is Felix & Sorell's story. Felix is human. That doesn't stop him from wanting to protect Sorell. He hates that someone has been abusing him. When Sorell shows up on Felix's doorstep severely injured, his alpha mode surges forward. And the attraction between them is too much to resist.
The interaction of the pack members is both endearing and full of angst. Just as Finn's body changed when he mated Luke, Felix begins to change when he mates Sorell.
You will be on the edge of your seat as the story progresses. As with the previous three books, there is HEA, by also a cliffhanger. This series is meant to be read in order. Start with book 1. You will be glad you did.
This book contains adult themes, language, violence, mm sex, and is intended for mature readers only.

These two might be my favorite yet and it's likely because I am a firm believer that love, when right, should fill the little holes you punch in yourself. The right person should make you the best version of yourself, smooth your rough edges and love you even with the darkness you carry. Felix's comes from being his time in doctors without borders. Sorrell from his previous pack. The shifter love is intense and new for them both but I honestly believe that at the end that they do in fact make one another better. They understand the quirks and darkness in one another and make it okay. I loved their story, how it didn't hide raw emotion but confronted it head-on. Now do not get me wrong I know the others did as well but this addresses even deeper darker pits than previously shown. PTSD, the after-effects of abuse. I have a feeling with Pippins's story next it will be even more intense and I have a soft spot for Pippin just from the parts with him in the books so far.

4.5 ⭐s Tell Me What to Do
The first two books in this series involved an Alpha Wolf and a Human plus pups. This third has the opposite dynamic a submissive Omega Wolf and a tough stubborn Dominant Human who felt compelled to take his mate from the harmful clutches of the wrong Alpha Wolf. Just as in the first two books the Human males ended up pregnant by their fated mates because their bodies changed to accommodate carrying a baby. Unlike the Alpha Wolves though the Human male's body also evolved - yet Dr Felix still had to use lube in a tube and prep his mate.

I hadn't anticipated the BDSM aspect of this story but it made it more interesting and explained why Sorrell would remain with an abusive alcohol like Isaac. I definitely see Kiki's talent expanding the more she writes. I really enjoyed this book it's my favorite of the series so far. Expect violence, blackmail, pack disruptions, kidnapping, sacrificing oneself for others, and two broken men making each other whole.

Decent Omegaverse shifter story with a human twist

This series of Omegaverse stories are a decent read for those interested in somewhat wounded characters with a "rescue each other" theme and an mpreg flair surrounding the explicitly heated scenes. I am a fan of human mates in shifter stories, and this one delivers with a bit of a twist on that score. I'm rather finicky about BDSM themes in erotic romances, as they often strike me as non-consensual and/or of dubious safety, but the Domination, control, and pain lightly explored in this book fit fairly well into the story and sizzle.

In short, a decent shifter Omegaverse mpreg story with interesting touches of BDSM and human/shifter interaction (and a nice extra twist on the human character).

Ok, so there were things I absolutely loved and things that I didn’t. My biggest love is the steamy scenes, whoa baby, hot. The plot was intriguing and kept me interested. What I didn’t like? The inner pack angst and drama. But that is because I want to see these guys as a strong, solid pack together, led by Luke. And it’s clearly heading somewhere else which I don’t like as much but it only adds to the plot. The tension between Luke and Felix bothered me and I can’t say more without giving spoilers away and I don’t do that. If you’ve enjoyed the other books, you’ll enjoy this one too.

I'm totally addicted to this series. I Love the all the characters. The theme. The idea of the effects on humans. I almost skipped adding this to my reading list as I did the 2nd book... to jump in and read the next. Which is a rarity for me, I finish, I add. Unless I'm really into a series. But, I was so close. Grudgingly, I stopped myself. Skipping 2 books is a no-no 😊.
This may not be a 5 star rating to my system of rating, but I seem to fall in love more and more with the characters the more I read.

Wanted to give more stars

This story wasn’t bad per se. It read like a retelling of the Finding Fin. But I just couldn’t get over the fact that Felix killed an African child soldier and, its implied, a whole camp full of them. Without any repercussions and that’s why he had to be a Dom. Like what? Yes losing a family he was helping to guerrilla warfare was hard and that should’ve been the only reason. But killing a camp full of African people, no matter how “bad” they were, was truly unnecessary.

Not What I Expected

This 3rd installmemt of the Wolf's Mate series was the slowest and the weakest of the books so far. I was so excited to get a closer look into Sorell and Felix as characters and I was a little bit disappointed. It was still interesting and I wanted to find out what would happen at the end, but if felt drawn out and too reminiscent of the previous books. I liked the addition of Stella- to give Frannie some female company and I like the human Alpha aspect a lot. But it was just ok.

Getting better

This was really good... I really don't like blackmail plots because they just don't make since to me... Why not tell the lack what was going on...didn't make sense ...but other than that it was pretty good... I liked Flex and Soreil and once past the blackmail dumbness the story came together... Off to book 4

A selfless 💘 love 💘

This book is about family and grow in pains, but the most important part of the story is about having a love for another that supersede all else. It a love that you will give anything and everything to your partner no questions asked. In this story the reader gets to experience this type of love this takes a special type of writer to be able to do this.

Loyalty

Sorell was a member of Luke's pack, however he was dating Isaac the pack leader of another pack. Felix knew he had feelings for Sorell, but he couldn't put it into words, he'd never been with a man. Sorell was constantly showing up with bruises. Felix couldn't take it anymore so he kissed Sorell in front of Isaac and the pack. Things got very interesting after that.

WOW!! So Good!!

Well written story and well developed characters! Those are the most important attributes, to me, in a book. I want to be grabbed and kept involved the whole way through the book! This whole series, so far, is doing just that! I love it!
