Nice guide to basic grammar. It is a children book, so the story is quite childish but the explanations are simple which is great for German beginners!

Good for brushing up on basic German. Quite shallow though. The comics format is great and relaxing.

Not so easy, the beginning its quite hard of you know near to nothing. I imagine that if you have already some knowledge and want to start with the grammar, it would be ok.

Although a book aimed at school children, I borrowed this book for my own use. I’m currently learning German via an online program (not linked to this book) and I just wanted a text book of sorts to help me figure out areas I was getting bogged down in. I happened to notice it when helping my children find research books of their own so thought I’d give it a go.

I found it a well-structured and formative book and very helpful in smoothing out the areas I was getting stuck. The ‘story section’ was, of course, a little childish for me (as this is a book aimed at a younger reader) but I did enjoy getting the chance to read and translate in my head a very basic story line.

I didn’t use the online help and support mentioned within this book, so I don’t know how helpful it is or if the links are still valid. I did, however, find this book a good stand-alone aid to learning basic German. I tried to encourage my own kids to try, but they are like me at that age and don’t find learning their family’s 2nd language as interesting as they do learning other languages. I guess it means my parents and I can talk about secrets (in German) when they’re in the room a little longer. ;-)

All in all I found this an entertaining and educational book that I feel would help anyone out (more a child than adult) when learning German. Though I would recommend they used it partnered with another media too, whether it be German lessons at school, via the internet, or so on.

I've just finished a book on grammar and I don't hate it. This basically means that the book is pretty cool.
