It is a bit hard to review this book since I can see that I don't share the same headspace as the author. I already stated that I don't particularly believe in the Law of Attraction. Why is it called a "law" when I can't be tested scientifically where each test will definitely have different value? Isn't it called a "theory" or something?
The sole purpose of this book is as a reminder
It started with a simple explanation of the law of attraction but then it focuses on "motivating" people. The term "law of attraction" is mentioned less and less throughout the book to the point where it is casted randomly at certain part of the book. I thought the author will delve deeply into this philosophical context to the Quran. I did my own research on the concept to know more.
Simply being wishful won't get you anywhere
"Utter your wishes as vividly as you can" will get you somewhere, as this book stated. I can see why, having a positive mindset (aka being mindful) will help you get thorugh the day. By being positive, it will make you more optimistic and you can see every beautiful things even in the most chaotic moment. On the contrary, being too self-conscious will make you only see the bad things. You will lose trust in other human beings and your own self and yes it may lead to your desperation, or worse destruction. But still, just simply "reconstructing" what you want won't help you have that first step. I daydream a lot, I even write what I want on my journal. Does the universe listen to me? Heck no.
There's also a paragraph on the book that manages to get me to the edge, it goes like this (more or less), "you have to picture what you want very, very (crystal) clearly. For example, you have a dream house and of course you want to have it in the future. You have to know what kind of house you want." How the hell I can know what kind of house I want? Maybe I take it way too the extreme because I literally think should I get an architect or look at some housing catalogues so I can picture it clearly? Okay, it's good to remind people to try as much as someone could to know themselves but simply blaming people for not knowing what they want in life is just... wrong.
I know about that already
There's not much eye-opening information in this book. It emphasizes on how important for Muslims to read the Quran, to pray, to be patient, and grateful. Those are the only things mentioned in this book, repeatedly. The problem is for some people it is hard to be motivated to be more religious. I still pray 5 times a day but yes I don't read Quran devotedly everyday. I know that as someone with faith, reading Quran has the same effect as meditation. It really calms me, and I won't deny the effect. But what if there's someone who never reads Quran to be sympathetic to your idea? This book doesn't resolve that problem and some evidences provided are not that strong either. This book is not for someone who's "lost" completely, and back to my previous points, it is only acting as a reminder.
Most of the advices given by the author are just simply words. "Read the Quran for a better day". "Read the Quran and you will be more focused". Yes, and? That's it?
Headspace difference
Back to my very first point, me and the author has a completely different conviction. Their goals in life and their expectations of other people's goals are so different from me. I do know people with this kind of mindset and I usually argue with them a lot ahahaha. Different conviction usually means different personality as some parts of this books irk me and it makes me super cynical. For this reason, this is probably why I can't like the book that much because it is not my cup of tea. I need stronger motivation triggers, fresh ideas.
The premise of the book is great but it is not explored
Back to my second point (because this though just invades my brain a second ago), combining a New Thought with Islamic teaching? That's actually quite interesting! But again, yes, haha.
This review is probably one of my messiest one yet. I may fix it later, I don't know *shrug*.
