I recently read the brand new 'Arkham' book from Chaosium's arranged 'Arkham Unveiled' series they're putting out, and found it to be an absolutely fabulous and indispensable supplement for anyone desiring to be a Call of Cthulhu Keeper (and I do not often call rpg supplements indispensable).

Immediately inspired to want to run a game where my players were students at Miskatonic University, I ran out and bought this old book, 'Miskatonic University: Dire Secrets and Campus Life". I've heard rumblings that if I were to wait a couple of years a new and updated version of it might be coming, but I couldn't wait, and I'm glad I didn't.

Miskatonic University: DS&CL is not meant for 7th edition Call of Cthulhu, but that's not really SO big a problem. Conversion of stats has always been pretty easy, and as far as converting some of the unique mechanics within this book, it took me a little thought but I believe I managed it. Old though it may be this was a FABULOUS book, teaching me more about the nuances and workings of University than real life ever did, and giving me all the information I'd need for run a campaign set in Lovecraft's college of choice. There is some amount of overlap with the new Arkham book (BOTH felt it essential to explain how the sewers in Arkham function), and - due to their being set in different parts of the decade - there are some differences between how the new Arkham book presents Miskatonic and how this book does, but these aren't problems for a good keeper.

If you're thinking about going to college in Lovecraft country, get this book! (available as a pdf on chaosium's own site or drivethrurpg). ...or do what I failed to do, and patiently wait for the next edition that is sure to come out.

Basic Premise: All the tools needed to set a Call of Cthulhu RPG scenario/campaign at the infamous Miskatonic.

I started running CoC when I was a college student myself, and immediately connected with the idea of setting a game at MU. What is more eldritch than the library at 3 AM? Little is more terrifying than the building that somehow has 3 different 2nd floors and 2 basements (I'm not joking- North Quad at Ball State University). The university factors into Lovecraft's fiction so much that it has a real life and feel that just makes it good fun to include in a game. This resource gives all the tools to do that. It's one of my favorite supplements. Edition doesn't really matter with CoC, too, this will work with anything but d20 system, and even then the flavor and RP elements will be useful.
