A very short graphic novel, but pretty good. There's a lot of tension between Spock and Sarek, while each says that the other is logical, neither really is.

Spock is jealous (not that he would admit it) of his very elderly father marrying another human, Perrin. He's skipped the wedding, not even answering the invitation, to which he explains to McCoy (now an admiral) that he simply didn't think he'd be missed and that Sarek "does not need my approval to marry a woman young enough to be my great-granddaughter".

And Spock goes out of his way to upset Perrin by telling her how she'll never measure up to his late mother, she'll always be second. Perrin tries to repair things between Spock and Sarek, but only ends up making it worse.

Behind the scenes there's the agents of the Cardassians trying to wreck Sarek's carefully planned, delicate negotiations between several groups, including the long-lived Legarians who adhere to ultrastrict protocols and are easily offended by even the smallest variations.

The tensions build up nicely, but then sort of fizzle at the very end, and there's no real ending for the Legarian emmisaries' plot line, which left me wanting a little bit more from the book.

3 stelle piene.

Overall it was a nice read. I think it was maybe a bit short. The drawing was nice and the story was engaging enough, having a good balance of the main plot and the side story. I wished we saw McCoy more but other than that, the balance was there.

The comic being dedicaded to the memories of Mark Lenard and DeForest Kelly almost made me cry : I think it was a good way to honor both of their work in Star Trek. I would re-read this comic, in a few years perharps.

The timeline is a bit odd - as this is supposed to be set 40 years before DS9, but Cardassia has not yet invaded Bajor.
But apart from that it’s only fault is that it’s too short. I want more.
