Forty-five-year-old Maggie Ashland is shocked when she learns she has inherited not only her great-aunt Lillian’s estate but vast wealth to go along with it. A divorced mother of three adult children and a music teacher at a local college, she has no reservations about changing her life completely and moving to the estate known as Blue Haven. After a few strange experiences, Maggie finally begins to settle into her new life. But matters are complicated not only by a group of money-grubbing relatives after Great-Aunt Lillian’s entire fortune but also by mysterious forces that seem to reside in the area. Maggie soon finds herself in the midst of a supernatural turf war, with the Blue Haven house right in the middle. Relying on wit, wisdom, friendship, and sheer persistence, she must rise to the challenge of defending the estate and all its secrets from the factions who seek to tear it apart. As Maggie deals with both worldly and otherworldly enemies, she seeks strength and courage in a situation she could never have imagined.
What an engaging story! Great attention to detail. The characters come alive and draw you in. By the end of the book I was fully invested in the fate of each character. The action kept me turning the pages through the night...even the parts the had me jumping! I was sorry to come to the end. I hope there's more to this story!
I am one of the lucky ones who won this novel in the Goodreads Giveaways. I was excited to win it.
This novel Blue Haven, is exactly the type of books i absolutely love. Fast-paced, filled with supernatural creatures, intelligent and action packed, which makes you never want to put that novel aside until it’s last page, and even then, you wish it would still go on and on.
This is a book i was so excited to receive and did not felt let down at all. It took me barely 3 days to read, hey i have a life too haha. What i know is that this is a novel i will reread in the future and most probably more than once. Considering the story was so well done and written, and that i can overpass the french errors, i gladly give Blue Haven 5 stars out of 5.
Update: I literally have read that book 15 times in exactly 2 years.
An interesting story that reads like a fiction novel with no inkling of supernatural forces until at least 1/3 the way into the story. And then the supernatural elements are slowly rolled out and intensify in a logical manner right up to the climax. I enjoyed this novel.
I loved reading this book. I enjoyed the different characters. They were well thought out and I enjoyed the interaction that they had with each other. Especially Maggie and Muriel. I can't wait for the next book. Well done Marc.
