Succumb to Cole Manchester—talented, witty, charming, sexy and oh-so flawed—a womanizing rock star whose shallow life is transformed when he experiences love for the first time.
From the outside, Cole Manchester seems to have it all: looks, fame, money, awards and women. When tragedy strikes, he realizes how hollow his life is, and opens the door to the one thing he’s never considered … finding love. He’s inexplicably drawn to the quiet wallflower who works on his team, a line he knows he shouldn’t cross.
After devastating heartbreaks, all Rose Morgan wants is to blend into the background. Working at her dream job as a publicist, she’s safely hiding in plain sight. Until her client, the irresistible Cole Manchester, notices her. Rose must ignore her desires in order to protect her bruised heart … and keep her prized career.
Cole needs Rose to teach him how to love. Rose needs Cole to teach her how to trust. Together, they form a bond ignited by passion but fueled by insecurities. When her mother’s interference collides with his fan’s twisted plot, Cole and Rose may find themselves with No One To Hold.
***WARNING: Due to strong language and sexual situations, this book is intended for mature audiences. This book ends with a cliffhanger; Cole and Rose’s entire trilogy in The Hold series is available now.***
For as long as Arell Rivers remembers, she has been lost in a book. During her senior year in college, she picked up a romance novel … and instantly was hooked.
She started writing her first novel, No One to Hold, because the characters were screaming at her to do so. The story started coming out in Arell’s dreams and attacking her in the shower, so she took to the computer to shut them up. But they kept talking.
Born and raised in New Jersey, Arell has what some may call a “checkered past.” Prior to discovering her passion for writing romance, she practiced law, was a wedding and event planner and even dabbled in marketing. She lives with a very supportive husband and two mischievous cats. When not in her writing cave, Arell can be found making dinner in the crock pot, working out with Shaun T or hitting the beach.
She hopes you enjoy her stories about flawed men, strong women and the passions that ignite!
No One to Hold is the first book in The Hold series by Arell Rivers, and it’s sure to appeal to many fans of rock star romances. Although there were some moments that I enjoyed with this one, I was not as in love with it as I had expected to be.
No One to Hold is a rock star romance that takes an unusual approach. I enjoyed the way the book handled issues that are usually overlooked in such stories, which kept me on my toes about the way things would play out. Although these details had me curious, I never fell for the characters. Their romance was too insta for me, the depth was never there, and it prevented me from feeling the connection to them that I had hoped for.
Although there were some interesting moments, this wasn’t quite what I had expected it to be.
I love rocker stories and this series about Cole and Rose is pretty good but it’s a little slower in the beginning and it definitely picks up plus a bonus and it’s all in Cole’s POV.
I just was not buying these two as a couple let alone a forever one. She's seen him screwing around for five years and he final just noticed her after his mom died. I couldn't find myself caring enough beyond their first couple of dates. I also personally hate the she's a nerd but underneath it all beautiful trope.
Started really well then the end got really screwy for no forseen reason other than there are 2 more books in the series. Not interested enough to read on looks like a slog.
Wow! What a great book! Not only was it a fantastic romance, but it had some mystery added to it to. Cole is a rock star who seems to have it all, but deep in his heart he’s hurting and looking for something more permanent than the revolving door of women he is used to. He has always had a soft spot for his publicist, and now he is seeing her in a new light. He thinks she might share some of those feelings. The problem is there is a strict policy….no publicists in her firm can date their clients. When danger comes close to Rose, their attraction grows even stronger. Will Rose risk it all for love?
I literally was drawn to Cole from the very beginning of the book. It opens in a heartbreaking way for Cole, and my heart belonged to him from that moment on. Yes, he was a womanizer, but tragedy can make you take stock of your life and realize change is essential. Cole does just that. From the beginning, I knew he felt something for Rose, but sometimes we are too blind to not see what is right in front of us. Luckily, Cole finally “sees” Rose. Rose, OMG, I just loved her. She is kind and loyal. She is beautiful, but she doesn’t realize that! However, there is a lot of mystery surrounding her which makes her character even more intriguing. One of those mysteries is revealed, but there is more to come. Their romance was both sweet and steamy.
No One to Hold is a bit different in that it is told strictly from Cole’s POV. Some readers may not necessarily like that, but I did. By telling it from his POV, Rivers made it more intriguing. It made me want to know more about Rose and what her secrets were. I think that is a genius move! I wanted more!!!! The ending….WOW! I literally CANNOT WAIT TO READ THE NEXT IN THE SERIES!!!!
***Reviewed for Devilishly Delicious Book Reviews***
I give No One to Hold 5 stars for just being awesome. I went through many emotions while following Cole and Rose through the beginning of their relationship. I fell in love with their potential and winced when I read the cliffhanger. I'm definitely part of team Cole and Rose.
Arellano Rivers is a new author to me and I'm already beginning the next book. Her writing is phenomenal. I felt like I was right there living the story alongside Cole and Rose.
Cole wants Rose to teach him how to love because the passion is definitely there, but he needs to teach her to trust and let go of her insecurities. After much interference from others, there seems to be a rift between Cole and Rose that is forming like the Grand Canyon. Will they find themselves with No One To Hold?
Rose Morgan is an account rep with the Greta VonStein PR Agency, and blends in the background being a publicist for her famous clients. When Cole notices her, and begins to make a play for her, she tries very hard to resist because she wants to keep her career and their is a no fraternization policy. Can she have him and her career?
Cole Manchester is talented, witty, charming, sexy, and a rock star whose life is changing after the death of his mother. He has looks, fame, money, awards and women, but something is missing. He wants to find love so when his quiet, unassuming publicist begins to peak his curiosity, he knows he shouldn't go there but can't resist. Would she cross the line with him?
No One to Hold is a contemporary romance novel that has music, paparazzi, sex, and misconceptions that peak your curiosity but the cliffhanger at the end is bound to send you into reading the next book as quickly as possible.
I loved it, couldn't put it down, and am already beginning book 2, Hard to Hold. I dare you to follow the music, follow your heart, and find out what happens with Cole and Rose.
2.5 Stars. While i think this book was good, it was also just bad. I can see where some may want to give it 4 stars; maybe 5? I mean who doesn't want a rocker that is a gentleman and pretty much puts you at the center of his world? The story starts off with Cole losing his mother and also, seeing his nerdy publicist, Rose, with a new set of eyes. To me Rose is pretty dry. Even when she gives in to Cole's advances, her personality is just blah. I really don't understand what Cole sees in her.
The story seemed to move right along but again, it was just blah. I found myself looking to see how much further i had to go and realize I was only at 25%.... Skimming right along hoping things would improve but it really didn't.
Yes, it ends in a cliffhanger but i can't find myself wanting to see what happened next. b/c in all honesty the cliffhanger was stupid. The whole thing about Rose setting Cole up with other people could have been a good idea... But Cole wasn't a flirt or a bad boy (at least not anymore), so there was no drama or anything that made the outings entertaining. To me it was wasted pages.
This is just my opinion and you may like it. I just found it boring... and to know there are TWO MORE BOOKS... I am gonna have to stop here. Especially after I read another reviewers review on book 2. She felt about book two; like i feel about book 1. So i know my feeling wont improve over the next book.
The writing was okay, the story not so much, Cole was a little too down to earth for a rock star and Rose, well everyone keeps saying how great she is, I don't see it, she's a career woman and that's all she cares about, their little romance feels forced like only Cole wants them to be together and Rose doesn't care one way or the other. I kept waiting for her to grow a heart never happened. The first 3/4 of the book, was a little boring but okay, the last part on the other hand was like a different story with different characters, and the change made no sense. It was like I blinked and missed the part where everything went wrong and I get that a cliffhanger meant to leave you with questions but in this case it went a little sideways for me and left me thinking WTH just happened and why would I care what happens to these horrible people?!
I was unaware this book was a cliffhanger until I got to the end but that wasn’t the problem. It was the lack of communication between Cole and Rose towards the end that really let the story down for me. I have nothing against angst and heartbreak when the story has a semi realistic love story, however.... *spoiler alert* Cole declares love for Rose, then at the first challenge, gets drunk and is willing to sleep with someone without even getting the facts from Rose first. I’ve never liked cheating novels and changing your mind at the last moment doesn’t count. I had enjoyed the characters and story up to that point, which is why it was more disappointing when it finished this way. I’m not interested in reading the other 2 books now.
I love bad boy rocker romances and was looking forward to reading this one. The story is in the first person and told by Cole. Annnnnnnnnd I just didn't buy it, a bad boy rocker who decides to turn his life around and give up his wild ways, to find true love and settle down. It was too quick and I felt the story really undeveloped. The dialogue bugged me as well, it didn't feel real, the conversations were full of over description. Plus the number of times Rose used Cole's name in conversation grated on me. I couldn't get into this story and I just didn't gel with the characters and although I bought the other two novels in this trilogy, I won't be finishing the story.

"It’s like playing the guitar with a broken string. " "“Teach me how to love you.”
Well, fuck me, this one is cheesy and sweet...kinda liked it. Some twists with a little mystery. But not an unusual storyline. Cole was sweet, Rose had some sass... Liked the supporting characters... especially emma.
Perfectly acceptable RR, but needed a touch more depth in plot with some angst. I'm venturing a guess **spoilers ahead** that a kid came from that one night stand 10y ago and moms been raising it...And Marco is abusive. Not a clue if that is true...But that's why there is a book 2
Arell Rivers tells a very detailed story about Rock Star Cole Manchester and the event that makes him re evaluate his life. Rose Morgan has been Cole's publicist for 5 years, always getting him out of one scandal or another so why is he just now noticing her? And who is doing everything they can to make sure she is out of his life? On to book 2 to unravel the mystery
Omg! My first book from this author and I am shocked. This book left me frustrated with all the events going on. So many emotions. I really enjoyed it though. I'm so looking forward to the next book and can't wait for more of Cole and Rose. I'm sure hoping something great comes from these two characters. I really feel for both of them.
F***! I didn't see that cliffhanger coming! I fell in love with Cole from the start of the book. I loved the relationship he had with his family - one scene with his brother brought tears to my eyes. I liked Rose too. But she was a bit more reserved and I feel like there's still more to discover about her that we didn't get in this book. I look forward to finishing their story.
Another misleading synopsis that says nothing about having to buy another book to find out what happens next. So how many more books are required to see how it ends? And the writing wasn't all that great, the punctuation was horrible and there were a lot of missing words. Yes, I'd like to know how this story ends but this author won't y another dime from me!
As a fan of rock star romances there was much that drew me to this story. From the delicious rocker whose fame is just starting to go worldwide, caught up in the superficiality of the music world while dealing with the death of his mother, to the young woman devoted to her job and torn by her feelings, this story kept me on edge. Add in a stalker whose actions become more aggressive as the story progresses, and the nefarious actions of a woman whose job is all about images, and you end up with a romance full of highs and lows that culminate in a jaw-dropping conclusion.
Cole Manchester's fame gave him endless women and a life controlled by others to sate the public's appetite for what they expect of rock stars. It gave him everything he thought he wanted until the day his mother died of cancer and he was forced in to reevaluating his life. Seeing everyone around him finding love has him longing for the same, and after numerous disastrous blind dates, finds himself drawn to a woman who's always been there for him. Theirs isn't a romance without roadblocks though as her commitment to her job pushes him towards other women despite his proclamations of love. As doubts regarding her feelings for him, as well as her mother's prejudices, start driving a wedge between them their bond starts unraveling leaving readers guessing as to what comes next. Cole's immensely appealing despite his being a player early on. His mother's death makes him realize how empty his life is, and knowing she wants more for him, sets him on a path to finding someone that wants him for himself. Seeing him so vulnerable when it came to finding a forever kind of woman had me aching for him. His loyalty and commitment to those he cares for was also appealing and had me rooting for him as he struggled to win over the serious-minded Rose. Once he committed to Rose though he showed it wholeheartedly amongst their friends and family, as she wanted to keep it out of the public eye out of fear for her job, which left me saddened over his being relegated to being a dirty little secret. Despite how deep his feelings for Rose are she ultimately pushes him too far in a moment that changes everything for them.
Rose grew up with a mother burned by love one too many times which left her disillusioned when it comes to that feeling. A one night-stand that she comes face-to-face with once again, as well as an ex who broke her heart, has her doubting the feelings Cole engenders in her. Love has proven to be fleeting for her which has her devoting herself completely to her work where she's the brains behind her boss's questionable tactics. Though she comes to care for Cole her self-doubts eat at her and have her repeatedly choosing her work over what they could be if she just let go. Weighing even more heavily on her are threats from an obsessed fan that bring danger ever closer to her. When a blatant dismissal of Cole leads to a morning of regrets for everyone, the HEA that was once in reach now seems impossible. In some ways I liked Rose as she was smart and strong-willed, focused on making something of herself. She did show a duplicitous side occasionally which left me uncomfortable and doubting her time with Cole. He treated her like a queen, supporting her in everything she did, yet she refused to claim him out loud. She was happy to reap the decadent delights he lavished on her but wouldn't profess her love for him. Her final act left me frustrated with her but still holding out hope that she and Cole can reconnect.
From start to finish this was a romance that kept me on edge. From a romance that always seemed to be on shaky ground to an obsessed fan that always seemed to be on the periphery I was left in constant chaos. Cole was a good person ready to be a man and find a woman worthy of him. At times I thought Rose would be that woman as their connection was crackling, seen through numerous scorching encounters, but when it came to love she was running scared. Her job in public relations also made me question her devotion as her job relied on perpetuating lies, putting Cole in a position where she was left to doubt him. My biggest quibbles with this book relate to her and I can only hope she starts listening to her heart in the next installment. While waiting for that next installment readers will have much to mull over from the fall-out of Cole's drunken night in Las Vegas.
I love a good rock star romance. Arell Rivers took me on a journey that is also known as Cole Manchester. Cole is the quintessential rock star, however, an incident forces him to re-evaluate his life, choices and future.
Cole appears to have it all; sexiness, talent, fame and money, but there is one thing that is missing. He longs to find love. His interest is peaked after finally noticing Rose, but can he get her on the same page as him?
After years of working as Cole’s publicist, Rose is finally getting noticed by the rocker, but for the wrong reasons. The blend into the background publicist is being hit on by Cole, while she tries her darndest to resist. There is a no fraternization policy within the company and she is rather fond of keeping her job. Rose does have some spunk to her, despite her rather fondness to blend into the background.
Cole and Rose have something that the other is looking for. Problem with this is there is also a stalker on the loose, trying to keep them apart. So, despite having to conquer each other’s hang ups, they also must be on the lookout for the stalker.
No One To Hold started off a little slow, but it quickly picked up steam and had me intrigued. One bummer…it ends in a cliffhanger! I think I knew this, but had been sucked into the storyline and forgot, so when it happened, I was like ‘Grrrr’! That’s ok, it’s off to book two for me to see where this journey takes me!
You have Cole Manchester and Rose Morgan [aka Bloomer]. Cole Manchester had it all. He had money, fame, awards and lots of women. Rose is the type who tries real hard to just blend in the background. Rose loves her dream job as a publicist. It turned that Cole and Rose knew each other in College and had sex one time but, Cole didn't remember mostly because Rose has a different last name. Then when folks were paying their respects to Cole after his mom passes away, he starts to notice Rose. Things start to happen to Rose, her car breaks down, her house gets broken into, her room mate gets roughed up, someone writes something on the window of her car and other stuff happens. Cole decides to step in and help Rose and Rose is totally against him helping her. Then one day Cole tells Rose how he feels. Rose must ignore her desires as she has to protect her bruised heart and keep her dream career as a publicist. Cole needs to be taught how to love and Rose needs to learn how to trust. Cole and Rose might find themselves with "No One To Hold" due to everything that is happening. I truly enjoyed this book!! This is book #1 in the "Hold Series".
This book is awesome I loved every page of rose and Coles story.
Cole is a big time musician and leads a big time musician life style. He loves fans and love to please them. But when tragically he looses the only love of his life he is forced to re think his lives choicies. He wants to keep his promise so he sets out to do just that worthwhile of his best mate and his wife.
Rose is a big shot publicist and knows she is in the right place to climb the ladder of success. However that comes with a price she has no life out of work which suits her fine right now she is where she wants to be in her life. Rose has some big time clients that she lives precariously through sorry g there screen love loved ect. But she falls for her client and now harbouring a secret she lost on what to do follow her heart of follow her job?
Rose and Cole will have you pulling your hair out at times but also have you clenching your own heart for them. I have loved them and can't wait to get into book 2
No One to Hold (The Hold series #1), Arell Rivers's debut novel, is the first book of a rock star romance trilogy. It's told entirely from the first person perspective of the male main character, rock star Cole Manchester, and it ends with a cliffhanger.
After losing his mother, Cole's playboy lifestyle feels shallow and empty. He's finally ready to meet somebody, fall in love, and settle down - something his mother always wanted for him. Cole goes on a series of blind dates, but keeps finding himself drawn to his publicist, Rose, and he sees her with fresh eyes. Cole knows her firm has a strict no fraternization policy, but he pursues her anyway. Dating Cole might cost Rose her job, but when a crazed fan sends threatening messages, is her life in danger too?
I enjoyed part one of Cole and Rose's story. It was sweet and smutty with a bit of mystery and suspense. I'm pretty sure (like 99.9%) that I've already figured out some of the twists coming up in books two and three. I guess I should start reading to see if I'm right.
Not your typical raunchy, major bad boy rock star book … but fun none-the-less! This story picks up in a rocker’s life when he’s lived that wild lifestyle for awhile and is now ready to settle down. The characters draw you in and you want to know what’s going to happen next. WARNING — It ends in a cliffhanger!
When rock star Cole Manchester starts to re-evaluate his life, he realizes that even though he had a lot of fun over the years and accomplished so many dreams, he’s left with a fairly empty life. He wants more, and he sets out to get it … he just can’t seem to get his shy Publicist off his mind long enough to do so.
Rose Morgan has worked for Cole for years and knows his lifestyle well … only he’s not partying and womanizing like he used to … and she can’t help but notice that he’s looking at her differently! Can he truly be a changed guy that wants a relationship all of a sudden? Can she really bring herself to trust that?
Hold onto your seats ladies(and gents) because this book and this series is a wild ride! I could not put it down and I could not get to the next book quick enough!! This book has it all - suspense, mystery, heartbreak and finding love in the most unexpected place. You can't help but fall in love with Cole and Rose!!❤️❤️. When Cole realizes that love, his one true love, has been in front of him for years he will do anything to keep her. But being in love with Rose may cost her the career she has worked so hard to achieve. But when his past comes back to haunt him can he keep his true love safe?
When it comes to rock star romances, I am 50/50 on them as I've read quite a few that seem to have a similar outcome. But No One To Hold had me hooked from the first chapter. I found it hard to put it down because I needed to know what happened next. In this book you follow along with the main male character Cole and how he appears to have it all, but is still missing that something that makes his life worth something.
Enter Rose who changes everything. No One To Hold is enthralling and such an easy read to get lost in. I know I did. I will be picking up the next book to continue this story. It's not your typical read, but that's what made me like it even more.
I love rockstar romance and this book didn't disappoint!! Cole and Rose's story is amazing. I always enjoy it when the rockstar falls for a regular girl and it was awesome to see this story unfold. I don't want to give a lot of info and spoil it for you because you're definitely going to want to read this book!! The author was very detailed and the story was written well and with some steamy scenes. It has a cliffhanger so you will absolutely want to read the rest of the series. I'm so happy I found Arell Rivers and look forward to reading more from her. I definitely recommend this book!! 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
OK it was kind of slow going at first, then it got hot and interesting, then it just ticked me off!! Rose is really ticking me off..sorry but she does or I am not just seeing the whole picture yet. Cole I actually like so far, he seems more willing and getting the shaft. It's called communication people.....now onto book two and see what the heck happens. The storyline is brilliant, sand I say that because I am mad and going back for more lol!! Thanks Jamie Nibarger Ellis
Yes, this book ends with a cliffhanger, but all the books were released at the same time so that’s not an issue. Now if they hadn’t been that would be another story. Cole and Rose burn up the pages in this book. He’s a rockstar and she’s his publicist. Will she be able to stand him fake dating for PR. I can’t wait to get to the next one. If you like rockstar romance then you’ll love this. I hadn’t considered myself a rockstar reader before discovering this author. I’ve read many of her books, and loved them all.
