Všechny své postřehy a poznámky si Sofia zapisuje do tzv. předblogovacího zápisníčku a doplňuje spoustou vtipných ilustrací. Vede rovněž školní blog, kde informuje hlavně a zejména o nejnovějších drbech, zaslechnutých na záchodě.
Rose Cooper rocks, as does the lovely Sofia Becker!! This novel will teach you the in's and out's of proper eavesdropping in the girls bathroom.
Sofia Becker is looking to be super popular with the best.blog.ever! To get there she must find out things that other people don't know, and there is only one place to find that... the girls room.
She learns things about the queen bee Mia, who she secretly despises, and later tries to befriend. Along with a few other secrets she finds she begins posting them to make her way to the top of the food chain.
Of course we all know that where you are at in Middle School and High School is where you'll stay, but Sofia's climb to the top is funny and sweet. Your typical Middle Schooler misplacing notebooks, losing & making up with friends, and working her hardest to be popular, you can't help but love this read!!!
With fun words like Sunturday and awesome illustrations you'll be swept of your feet in awesomeness as this book takes you on one wild ride in Sofia's Middle School days.
CAN YOU BELIEVE I READ THIS BOOK IN ONE DAY. IT WAS SO GOOD I COULD'NT PUT IT DOWN. IT ACTUALLY TOKE ME ABOUT ONE HOUR. THE AUTHOR MADE THE BOOK SO INTERESTING.AND FOR YOU BOYS SHE HAS A BOOK CALLED''GOSSIP FROM THE BOY'S ROOM''.TOALLY READ THIS BOOK PEOPLE.
I won this book on a blog. Yesterday, it arrived in the mail while my 8-year-old daughter and I were home sick. When I took it out of the envelope, she became curious, leafing through it. I should mention that she's been in a big dog phase. She'll read any fiction or non-fiction book related to dogs that she can get her hands on. The only exception has been American Girl novels. She read 64 pages of Gossip from the Girls' Room in one sitting.
Before bed, she read for thirty-minutes and reached page 125.
This morning, she asked to take it to school (that almost never happens). When I picked her up from school, she said she took it out during snack and other students crowded around to see it. After she finished her homework, she took it out of her backpack and finished reading it.
I don't think she's ever read a book in 24 hours before. She loves reading, but this is 198 pages.
The book looks similar to "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" - like a kid's diary with pictures. I've always thought there should be book like that and Captain Underpants but with a girl character. Many times, my daughter laughed out loud and showed me the pictures. Highly recommended for kids.
I'm going to read it next.
*** EDIT *** I read it! What a fun book. My 12-year-old son has started it now.
Rumors from the Boys' Room comes out in spring 2012. When it does, I'll but it for my kids and me.
Sixth-grader Sofia Becker writes a blog about everything she overhears in the girls' bathroom, especially mean things about the super-popular Mia, but comes to realize that gossip has consequences and popularity is hard to achieve.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid read-a-like for girls. I liked this book and I think it teaches an important lesson on responsible social media and whatever you post on the internet is open for anyone to see.
Touted as Diary of a Wimpy Kid for girls, is a fun and funny speed read. Amusing illustrations add much to this engaging story about surviving middle school. Embarrassing moments, typical friendship issues, the quest for popularity... (click here for full review http://www.storysnoops.com/detail.php...)
This book was recommended to me from a friend. It was a pretty good read though a little young. I read it anyway, and will finish the series just cause I can.
I discovered this author via Facebook and Blogger when she was waiting for this book to arrive from the publisher. As she talked about a sixth grade girl named Sofia who wrote down everything in a journal that she thought was blog worthy. Sometimes she recorded hallway rumors and sometimes she learned interesting tidbits when she was unnoticed in a bathroom stall. She then posted to her blog—which is hosted by the school website—when nobody was watching. Sofia uses and assumed name and only her best friend knows the truth, but Sofia still dreams of popularity via her anonymous blog.
The pink and black cover and author’s doodling add to the irresistibility of this book. I checked it out to see if my older daughter (8yo) would be interested. Gossip is such a quick, fun read I had to pass it on to her. She couldn’t put it down! I highly recommend this to 8-12 year old girls. I think it is especially appropriate for the reluctant reader.
Per my 8yo: this was a really good book. Sofia is a really good character because she has a journal where she writes down everything she hears. It’s really cool that she has a blog on the school website because I don’t. I liked the weird jokes, when Sofia practiced writing her names different ways and when Nona’s tongue got stuck on the flagpole. I would recommend this book to other girls my age.
Sofia Becker is a sixth-grade at Middlebrooke Middle School. She writes an anonymous blog for the school as the Blogtastic Blogger. Sofia hopes that the blog will increase her popularity. In this blog, she writes about gossip that’s about teachers and students. Most of the gossip she hears she learns about when she’s eavesdropping in the girls’ bathroom. She can’t stand Mia St. Clare, so she often talks about her and other social climbers. Mia St. Clare is the most popular girl and apparently, Sofia’s crush Andrew likes Mia. Sofia is so angry. Will Mia snag Sofia’s crush? Will the blog increase Sofia's popularity?
I really liked this book. The drawings are so adorable. The book is described as “A Blogtastic Novel”, but it’s said that it’s a pre-blogging notebook. There are blog entries in the book, but it’s set-up on notebook paper. So, I was expecting something different. I still enjoyed it though. This book reminds me of the Dork Diaries, so children or adults that like that series should like this one as well. This is a very quick and enjoyable read. I’m a sucker for books that have cute drawings. The next book,Rumors from the Boy's Room, will be out in Spring of 2012. I'm not sure how Sofia will pull that one off, but I can't wait to find out.
Okay, so I'm a bit biased, but I love this book :) I encourage anyone who likes graphic type novels such as Diary of a Wimpy Kid or Dork Diaries to pick this book up when it's released. The images add a punchline to the text with the hopes of creating humor to the story. There will be a giveway for an ARC (advance readers copy) of this book on my blog (www.Rose-Cooper.com) on Wednesday, September 8, 2010, so be sure to check that out!
This was ok - 6th grader writes up gossip she hears in the bathroom and then posts it on her blog later on that night. I think my main "eh" is that there's little self-reflection in Sophia's journal (or pre-blogging notebook); she never seems super critical of herself, which doesn't seem at all to jibe with real life. I think 4th through 6th graders or so would probably like this a lot, though, so my rating is specifically for me.
Sofia runs a blog on the school computers. She listens in the girls' room to get her gossip. Naturally she only hears part of the story then adds what she wants to make it sound juicy. She is upset when Mia, the most popular girl in school, likes Andrew, Sofia's crush. Then just when she thinks it cannot get any worse, her mother starts substituting at her school. What will she do?
I found Sofia a hoot. She is exactly like the girls who aren't popular but want to be and since she has access to blogging she hopes that she will pick up more followers for it. She also has a lot of gossip about Mia. She practices for her blog with a notebook which she loses at times. Not good because who has it, who sees it, who reads it! Fortunately she finds it but who has read it? She hopes no one but she does not know for sure. I remember Mias from my school days and it was no different back then as now.
This is fun. I enjoyed the format of a notebook as she tells her story. I also enjoyed her artwork, especially the snarky comments. They are the most truthful and school is still the same.
I read this book and like the description says, it is literally a "Diary of a wimpy kid" for girls! like it is very cool. I didn't really like the "gossip" concept but the rest of the book was amazing. I like stuff that don't always end with a happy ending like fairy tales and you know, is like life, not everything goes right. And this book is totally my style!!! I think this book is a really fun book and it is a little book with lots of stuff going on, so it is easy to finish, but makes your mind feel full. You know, when you just finish a book and you feel very happy and feel like you have accomplished something really big. And the good thing about books are when you finish one, you immediately have a goal for another one and it carries on. reading books are very important and inspirational for kids and I highly recommend this book for having fun and just spend some time with your mind. And big thanks to "Rose Cooper" for writing this fantastic book. I wonder what "Gossip from the boys room" will be like!
Sofia is super cute, and she is so like me when I was in middle school. I wasn't popular, and the cool kids didn't really take to me, but I found solace in other avenues. I think this could be a more mature series compared to "Diary of a Wimpy Kid." I do want to read the other two books in the series.
I read this book a long time ago but I remember loving this book and wanting to reread it for the first time over and over again I remember the twist at the end being fucking crazy... its iconic really.
I love this book!!! Its so cool with the liddle picture in it and how its written... In this book you see that every middle school girl has the same problems like you.
