This book is a blend of paranormal and science fiction romance. Fans of all kinds of shifter romance will enjoy this new take on female werewolves who are created through genetic engineering. It also has enough humorous romantic comedy to keep those fans happy too.
I am an active dreamer and find writing to be the best way to use my creativity. Needing to satisfy both sides of my brain, I have become a cross-genre author of contemporary, romantic comedy, fantasy, science fiction, and paranormal romances.
I feel blessed that my books appear on bestseller lists for humor, romantic comedy, space opera, and more. I crave laughter from all my readers and focus my attention on making that happen as often as possible.
I love to hear from anyone who has read my books. Each reader is a hero or heroine to me. I am inspired by you.
I did not know Donna McDonald had shifter books or I would have attacked them when the first one came out. I loved this! I would recommend reading book 1 first. This book continued on with the story from previous books so I did have questions about a few details but that can be quickly solved by reading book 1 & 2. I still very much enjoyed this despite not understanding a couple things. I'm glad to be finding shifter books lately that are unique to their own genre. This didn't feel like all the other shifter/werewolf books out there. And best of all, we have possessive mates in this series! Arc provided by NetGalley.
My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!! ***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!
The cover is pretty nice and what attracted me to look into this book!
This is the third book in the series, but the first book I’ve read in this series and by this author. Of course this is for adults only due to the steamy scenes and violence. You can read this book and still know what is going on, but I suspect it would be way better if I had read book 1 and 2 and knew the characters better and their gifts.
I really liked Heidi, and she has a lot more strength than everyone was giving her as well as morals. I didn’t know what to think of Ryan in the beginning, but I liked him and understood him better in the end. This was a unique take on a new wolf pack with nano tech. I really liked Donna’s writing style and will definitely check out more of her work when I can afford it. Awesome storyline and action packed with all sorts of new ideas!
I highly recommend this to any wolf shifter fans who want a new adventure!

Her pack sees her as a liability when it comes to fighting. Does she have what it takes to save herself? Heidi’s about to find out.
I can see where others say this was not as good as Ms. McDonald's best Effort, but I felt Heidi's & Ryan's story best. We can see that Heidi's gentle nature does not stop her from defending herself and those she considers family. This is also a story the shows family is more than blood and sometimes the heart makes stronger bonds.
Not your normal shifters, Heidi, Brandi and Ariel are unique in their metamorphosis and personalities as the find their mates and place within the Gray Pack. This is an interesting series and I would like to hear more of them and the others mentioned in the future.
My rating of "Heidi - Nano Wolves 3" is 4.75 out of 5 stars.
This was a wonderful book! Donna McDonald’s story holds your attention so you don’t want to put it down until you’ve read it all! Heidi is not an alpha like her 2 friends that underwent a forced experiment. Heidi is the healer of the group! Heidi had picked Ryan to help her through her mating heat in an earlier book and now Ryan is questioning whether she wants or loves him. He knows that Heidi is his Mate! But Heidi is not so sure. Heidi makes a choice that she thinks is best but only time will tell if she made the right one! Brandi has a vision that she’s not sure if it was just a dream so she has Ariel and Heidi go with her. They save a Russian female werewolf who was kidnapped by Travis. They give her a safe place to stay. But Travis isn’t going to give up that easy. Travis then kidnaps Heidi, and she just has to hang on long enough for help to find her. Her Alpha and her Beta won’t stop looking until they find her. But it’s a race against the clock because Diane Crane, evil Scientist, is determined to learn all her genetic secrets so that she can make more nano wolves and that might include Heidi being dissected. To find out what happens to Heidi you’ll have to read the book! But if you haven’t read Ariel and Brandi’s stories then I suggest reading them in order because the stories are much better when you do! I can’t wait to read the next story in the Nano Wolves series!
I was so glad to read another Nano Wolves book and I really enjoyed Heidi. Heidi is the healer in the pack and she is good at what she does but she feels like the weakling because her Alpha and Beta are so much more cunning than her. She and Ryan are together but she wants her space after being trapped at home and then by the crazy scientist Randall Crane. She sends Ryan away using her mind trick but it doesn't work because he knows he's her mate only she doesn't know it yet. When Heidi and her pack find a woman in the woods with a silver collar on near death they know Diane Crane is continuing in her brothers work. Now that woman has gotten away Travis has to find another so he set his sights on Heidi but he can't seem to get close to her so her tranquilized Ryan and gets Heidi to come alone for him. This story was about love and finding yourself and a few surprises and I just loved Heidi's story. Reviewed on behalf of Once upon an Alpha
McDonald sets the growl meter high with this third in the Nano Wolves series. If you have not sampled McDonalds works this series will not disappoint. Unique Wolf story of Laboratory research that does a metamorphosis on humans. Heidi is a healer who must meet the challenge of the Nano experiment along with a mate chasing her tail and a kidnapping by another evil scientist. This author develops fantastic fleshed out (Furry) characters. Author supplied copy; resulting in this honest review given freely.
We met Heidi as one of three women, who had been subjected to a barrage of lab tests, trying to convert humans to wolf shifters. (Arial : book 1) Heidi is now using her empathy and detection talents as a healer. This makes her feel wimpish beside the other shifters, as she perfered peaceful resolution to violence. This attitude had its boundaries, for when one of her clan members or her mate was threatened, she finds a way to act, without qualms. I love Donna McDonald's writing, and it seems no matter what genre she writes in, it is full with characters that you can relate to. I have voluntarily submitted this review after reading an advanced copy of this book.
To say that Heidi is surprising is an understatement! She has had the most interesting transmutation and the hardest in accepting her wolf. But when things get tough and she's put into a position where she's deciding on Pack, loved ones and herself...she freaking rocks it!
Ryan is the only one who has been honest throughout and his determination to show Heidi he's there for the long haul has been most entertaining and sweet.
Heidi is not an alpha wolf but a healer and having a hard time adjusting to werewolf life. Her relationship with Ryan is a flux. But when an old enemy attacks she fights back with the smarts maybe not the might. Another interesting book in this series a very different take on shifters and created wolves.
Amazing series!! I can't wait for book 4 to come out!! Donna McDonald is a talented author who draws you into every story!! If you like thius genre, you will love these books and not be able to put them down until the end!! I read each book in one setting and crave more!! You should read in order, but don't have too.
I didn't find Heidi's book as good as the first two. I'm not sure why as there was a lot of action, a mad scientist and romance. Maybe it was just a step too far. Still a good read but only 4 stars.
The ebook stopped at 166 out 222. The rest was advertisement for her other books and that is annoying. Otherwise it was a good story. I’m on to read Reed’s story.
This book nicely rounded out the three characters of the Nano Wolves. I particularly enjoyed how Heidi came into her own strength and I also enjoyed the humor embedded in the story.
Heidi and Ryan were having their same old argument. Ryan wanted her to move in with him; she wanted more independence for herself. She was not ready to be tied down like that. Most of all, she did not want the constant pressure he was applying for her to make a decision.
Katarina finally had the chance to make her escape from her captors. They had landed in Alaska and she desperately hoped the pack she had heard about would take her in. The silver collar around her neck weakened her, but she ran onward. Eventually a jolt of electricity in the collar brought her to unconsciousness.
Fortunately, Brandi had a dream about a collared wolf, and she, Ariel, and Heidi drove out to check if it was real or just a dream. They found the unconscious woman and Heidi, through her special gift, managed to get the collar off her somehow. She was hurt but would survive.
They finally determined who the kidnapper was – Travis, who let his greed turn him rogue from his pack. And they knew he would come after either Katarina or Heidi, whom he would think was the weakest. They didn’t realize he was already here and watching for his chance! And he has a plan!
I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it! I loved the author’s handling of the relationships among the friends. It made everything that much more realistic as you saw how they took care of each other, never hesitating to risk their own lives for another. I think readers will enjoy this one.
Heidi was tired of fighting with Ryan. He refused to give her some time to figure herself out since she had been changed into a werewolf by a mad scientist. The last thing she had time to figure out was how to be mated. She and two other - Brandi and Ariel. He wanted her to mate with him and live with him and she just wasn’t ready. Ariel was driving the SUV the three women were in as she was like werewolf GPS. They had come with Brandi when asked as Brandi had a vision/dream and sit would drive her crazy until she figured it out. Heidi felt primary pack was came first and Ariel was her primary pack Alpha and Brandi was the Beta. they also belonged to Reed’s pack. Heidi had saved Ariel’s life when it was supposed to be impossible . Heidi was a healer and loved her place in the pack and working at the healing Center. . The werewolves all had Nanos in them from when they were forced to be werewolves. The Nanos chose certain aspects of their personal appearances to tweak. Then Ariel stopped the van and they started to walk around then they found a female werewolf close to death. Heidi took the silver collar off her that had prevented Katarina from shifting and healed her as good as she could until they could get home. Katarina had been abducted from Moscow and had to kill the pilot to try to get away. The collar had nt drained her determination to be free when she saw the chance. The collar had burned Katarina so bad she felt like she was choking. Her grandfather had told her tales of Nikolai Vashchenko and how he had traveled all over Russia then into Alaska until he found a pack that appreciated his gift of prophecy and second sight.Once settled Nicolai set word back to a few close friends that he was fine but not to the family who had shunned him. She had been living among humans and had been kicked out of her pack by her father for being an Alpha wolf and wanting to lead the pack. Her biological father refused to admit she was his daughter and he hated her as giving birth to a female Alpha was mostly seen as a curse. No one had stepped forward to claim Katarina as a mate or to help her defend her right to rule the pack. But everyone had supported her father for getting rid of her. She was now in Alaska. Travis was Reed’s grandson but a bad wolf. He captured ryan and drugged him and put a silver collar around his throat He sent Heidi a message with Ryan tied up with a silver collar on telling Heidi that either she or Katarina had to come alone or he would kill Ryan. Heidi could not make Katarina go after all she had been through so Heidi managed to sneak away to exchange herself for Ryan. Heidi was drugged and taken in a helicopter when she came through she was in a cage and then Dr. Diana Crane came in. This was a great book and I loved reading it. I loved how Ryan finally learned how to be patient and give Heidi time. I loved how Heidi was willing to sacrifice herself for Ryan and did. I loved the relationship between Heidi, Ariel, and Brandi. I love how determined Ryan was to save Heidi for the lab she was being held in. I loved the plot and pace. I happily couldn’t find anything to criticize in this book. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend.
I want to say that Nano Wolves is my favorite series by Donna McDonald but the truth is that it is still a tie between the Wolves and the Cybers. Heidi which is Nano Wolves Book 3 is one wonderful reason why this is such a difficult decision. All three of the women used in a despicable experiment are very different which made each of their stories very unique, none more than Heidi. Heide’s nurturing and kindness hides a strong woman than any of the pack knows. It takes a kidnapping, another evil scientist and a desire to live to bring her strengths to light. The loyalty of her friends, along with Ryan add to make this an un-put-down-able read. Having read all three of the Nano Wolves books by Donna McDonald, I find it hard to say if this is a stand-alone. I think one could read and enjoy this book but I immensely enjoyed reading them in order. This is because Heidi is a supporting character in the first two. It has been fascinating to watch her grow and develop as a wolf and in her skills. This is a paranormal wolf shifter series that all fans can enjoy with Heidi being a great addition. The author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book.
This series just got more interesting and exciting. Heidi may not be the Alpha or the Beta, but she's got some tricks. And this book sets us up nicely for the next book in the series.
I am a huge fan of Donna McDonald and have loved this series from the beginning. I absolutely adore Heidi and Ryan. I love how Donna has been able to a different spin on the werewolf genre! My only suggestion is to start with book one, Ariel, to understand completely how the girls came to be werewolves with their unique abilities!
Nano Wolves is such a different mythology. Heidi has a lot of baggage adding to, and augmenting her new abilities. Her relationship with Ryan is also in flux. Their packs trouble with mad scientists is still a worry.
This innovative storyline takes us on an action packed ride into SciFi realms of possibilities and atrocities. But we are never without hope with these three amazing women and the mates who love and support them.
I have really enjoyed all three of these stories and I am looking forward to the next installment Reed and Katarina. I am really hoping that the author will write at least a couple more books for this series.
I love this series cause it so different but then has so many elelements of sci-fi I love but with the romance I adore also. Its the best of both of my reading loves. Donna knows how to write what I love to read. I don't want to give away any of the story so keeping this short and sweet. If you have been enjoying this series be ready to be swept away in an awesome read.
All i can say is read these books in order, make sure Heidi the healer and Ryan Calder the "pushy" werewolf is the 3rd one you read , then throw out everything you think you've figured out about Heidi, the mad scientist and what's going to happen in their future , because author Donna McDonald came in and shook everything upside down and sideways !! If you love paranormal romance books with lots of twists and turns as well as hot and heavy sex, you will adore this book !! Just be prepared to have a few things you think you "know" tossed out the window !! This is my second 5⭐ Book this week, which is very unusual for me, but it definitely earns it !! I received a gifted copy and am voluntarily choosing to leave an honest and unbiased review.
This was a new take on the werewolves for me, but I found it really interesting. Katrina was one of the best characters I have ever read and when Yana came I was dying laughing. I would recommend to start from the beginning of the series since the author doesn't recap the previous books. This being my first read in this series I was left with a ton of questions, so I will be reading the first two books and I'm really looking forward to reading Reed's story in the next book.
I was given a copy of this book for my honest review.
