Playing Dirty #2

Perfect Spiral

Rate this book
~ Quinton Dunn ~

I had the perfect life.
Getting paid millions to play the sport I love and spending most of my nights with all the adoring female fans, what more could I possibly want?
I sure as hell didn’t want the baby boy someone dropped on me before running, leaving behind a note saying he’s mine.
If that’s true, then I don’t have a freakin’ clue who his mother could be.
Until I get the paternity test results, though, the kid’s my responsibility.
The sleepless nights with a crying baby have me crashing and burning on the football field, putting my superstar career in jeopardy.
And suddenly, the only woman I want hates me with a fiery passion. I knew Callie wasn’t going to be easy to win over. Not when she blames me for her sister’s death.
Oh, and if this baby turns out to be my son, Callie’s determined to take him away from me.
Somehow I’ll have to find a way to prove to her that there’s more to me than my perfect spiral.

Callie’s been cheated and mistreated by both her husband and her sister. All she’s ever dreamed of was being a mother but after years of trying she concedes it isn’t in her future. But the worse of it all is when she learns her sister is pregnant and it’s more than likely Callie’s husband is the father.

Quinton is tired of the easy pickups his position as starting quarterback for the Wildcats allows him. He doesn’t say no to them, but he keeps waiting for the one woman that can see him as more than his job, name and bank account. When a baby is deposited on his doorstep he doesn’t have a clue who the mother could be. But when he follows the barely remembered trail of a night long forgotten he meets Callie. And suddenly, that dream of a woman who sees him as just HIM, is standing right there.

This book had a lot of hits and near misses for me. At times I was upset by the decisions the heroine made and that the hero yielded to. But suddenly one or the other took a different step that I wasn’t expecting and that near miss was the perfect hit. I felt the struggle Callie had and the despair Quinton experienced as they faced a standoff that had the potential to destroy the promise of a future together.

This was a fast paced read, just a bit angsty at times, the steam factor in the red zone and with great secondary characters. I’m extremely curious about Lathan’s story and will definitely be checking it out ASAP!

Good read

This was a good book with a cute storyline. I loved Quinton and can't wait to read the next book with Pax and Lathan. This was the 2nd book in this series and while this was a great read I still liked Ballbuster better. Hopefully book 3 meets my expectations as well!

This was kind of ridiculous but that’s also why I loved it. The set up was interesting and pretty unique (a baby is left on a football quarterback’s doorstep, his romance is with the baby’s aunt), and I enjoyed all the dislike to love angst between Callie and Quinton.

There were a few times I rolled my eyes, like when they decided that he would be her sperm donor WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF their first time having sex. That sounds like the perfect time for two adults to make a potentially life changing decision! Like whaaaaat?😂😂 Also the endometriosis storyline didn’t feel very well researched.

However I have to give this credit for getting me out of the longest reading slump I’ve had in years. It was such an easy, fun and steamy read and as long as you’re not looking for realism, I would recommend this one. I had fun reading it!

*This is part of a series but can be read as a total standalone.*

My only thoughts while reading this book where 'that's sexual assault' and 'that's technically rape'. And it all is portrayed as sexy, steamy, romantic and unoroblematic...

Quinton is the definition of a playboy. So much so a drunken night leads to some very unsavory acts. One in particular that leads him with a baby on his doorstep.

He is very immature, but also, he has a mature way of thinking when it comes to important aspects of his life. So, the two are balanced.

He does care for this little baby, and you get the anxiety over, "What is this baby doing on my doorstep aspect." Ah, the life of a bachelor turned upside down in the blink of an eye.

"𝑩𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒐𝒏𝒆'𝒔 𝒇𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒐𝒓 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒃𝒍𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒇𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒊𝒔 𝒅𝒊𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒕. 𝑯𝒊𝒔 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒎𝒚 𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕'𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑰'𝒎 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒈𝒐𝒏𝒏𝒂 𝒄𝒂𝒔𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒑𝒂𝒅𝒅𝒐𝒄𝒌 𝒐𝒇𝒇 𝒐𝒏 𝒂 𝒏𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒚 𝒐𝒓 𝒏𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒆 𝒐𝒓 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒆𝒍𝒔𝒆. 𝑰𝒇 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒃𝒂𝒅 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒉𝒊𝒎... 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕'𝒔 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒐𝒏 𝒎𝒆."

When it comes to Callie, he is very patient with her when their relationship evolves and her fears start to manifest. He does get upset when she starts to push him away, but it's more of a fact he's trying to get her to understand. He's not going to walk away from her.

"𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒎𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒆𝒍𝒔𝒆?"
"𝑩𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒘𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑰'𝒗𝒆 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝒎𝒚 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆, 𝒔𝒐 𝑰 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒌𝒆𝒆𝒑 𝒚𝒐𝒖. 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒅𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒊𝒕 𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒚 𝒐𝒏 𝒎𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍. 𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒕'𝒔 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑰 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖. 𝑰'𝒍𝒍 𝒂𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌 𝒂𝒕 𝒊𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝑰 𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖. 𝑩𝒖𝒕 𝒊𝒇 𝑰'𝒎 𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒘𝒊𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓, 𝑰'𝒍𝒍 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝑰'𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒕."

Callie definitely gives Quinton a run for his money. She's definitely not the type to fall at his feet. Does she see the sexy man he is? Of course, she's only human.

Some of the aspects I didn't like.

The constantly calling woman w*ore, st*t, ska*k ect. By both MCs.

The ending. That sealed the book's final star rating with me. It was abrupt with no resolution of what was happening and for their future together.

This is the second book in this amazing series, and what a story Quinton’s is!! He has the perfect life as a sports star, a total playboy, and he can have a different woman every night. Until a baby is left on his doorstep that is!! Callie is the sister of the baby’s mum, and she did not know that the baby existed at first either. When these two meet sparks explode; Callie does not fall for Quinton’s charm and is determined to take the baby away from him.
This is a beautifully written storyline, and I am awe at this author’s talent. I was hooked and captivated from the very beginning. I loved the banter between all of the guys from the previous books. I for one cannot wait for the next book in this awesome series.

Perfect Spiral is book 2 in the Playing Dirty Sports Romance series and is about Quinton and Callie. Quinton is the star quarterback from Ballbuster, book 1 in the series. When we left him in Ballbuster, Quinton was dealing with a newborn baby being left on his doorstep. We pick up in chapter one with how that all came about. Quinton is the quintessential playboy, having sex with almost any woman he comes across. That being said, he was always careful and used protection, so he can't figure out why someone would think the baby was his. Going over the time period when the baby would have been conceived, he realizes there was one night where he drank so much he doesn't remember what he did. It leads him to a bar and a waitress there who might be the mystery mother. He finds out she no longer works there, but gets her name & address and goes to talk to her.

That waitress turns out to be Callie's sister and it's Callie's address Quinton goes to. Callie is in the middle of a divorce with her horrible ex. He had sex with her sister, in their marital bed, and Callie walked in on them. She kicked him out and pushed her sister out of her life. The last time she saw her, her sister told her she was pregnant. Assuming it was her ex's baby, she never spoke to her again. Months later, when Quinton shows up at her door, Callie is grieving the recent loss of her sister to an overdose and wondering what happened to the baby.

When Quinton explains why he's there, Callie is relieved to know her sister's baby is alive, but no one knows for sure if it's actually her's, and especially if it's Quinton's. While they are awaiting the DNA tests, Quinton allows Callie to visit with the baby every day. They have a bad day in court, both trying to get custody of the baby. But the judge tells them that until the DNA tests come back, the two will have to work out an agreement on custody or the baby will go into foster care. Neither wants that to happen, so they agree that Quinton will have custody and Callie can come visit as often as she wants. Turns out, Quinton is becoming attached to the little guy and really likes Callie's feistiness, so he wants to try to convince her to go out with him.

That is just the basis of this story. I absolutely loved it and both couldn't wait to find out what would happen and didn't want it to end, either! By the end of chapter two, I was hooked and knew it was going to be a great story! Is Quinton the daddy? Is Callie the aunt? What about their mutual attraction? And Callie's mistrust of all men? You will have to read to find out! Let me tell you, it will be worth it! There's all kinds of emotions going on: sweet romance, hot sex scenes, worry & carrying over the baby, anger & frustration, lots of funny moments, so many "awwww" moments...just everything! GREAT job, Lane! I'm looking forward to book 3 in this series, Delay of Game, Lathan's story!

We met Quinton and the newborn dumped on his doorstep at the end of Ballbuster, which was the first in this series. So now we get the story of the Wildcats' womanizing QB and his search to figure out who the mother of this baby is, and more importantly, is it his?

Quinton's search leads him to Callie's doorstep. She's determined to keep her late sister's baby for herself. A DNA test proves Quinton's paternity, and rather than shut out the sassy accountant -- she doesn't know who this guy is, knows nothing about football, and doesn't take his flirtatious BS -- but he agrees to let Callie co-parent with him. Naturally, sparks fly between them, and they make a deal of sorts in the bedroom... but Callie has some issues (cheating ex, being older) that make her hesitant to believe that a player like Quinton would find her attractive or want to be in a committed relationship with a Plain Jane like her.

The "deal" that they strike up sort of comes out of nowhere, I thought, but I get why it is part of the story. It adds the undercurrent to their relationship issues. Quentin really goes above and beyond to prove to Callie that he's committed and more than the reputation he has as a ladies' man. Overall, this was another great sports romance by Lane Hart. I can't wait to read Lathan's story next!

Lane Hart is one of those authors that for me I simply one-click just because it's written by her as she never disappoints. This is the second in the Playing Dirty series and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

This is Quinton's story, the Wildcats Quarterback who we were introduced to in book one, Ballbuster. He's your typical womanising jock to begin with and when a baby boy is left on his doorstep his life in a world of playing hard on and off the pitch is pulled into question. He is likeable and the way he steps up to the plate to care for his son is really nice and well written.

Callie is the sister of the baby's mum and is determined to take him away from someone she perceives is no good for him. Of course as the story goes on and Callie begins to melt her cold and harsh exterior you can see as she does just how devoted Quinton is to this baby boy, his obligations and eventually the romance between them.

I do agree with others in that I was a bit frustrated Callie and Quinton went from kissing to steamy hot sex (which Lane is VERY good at writing - cold shower anyone!) but let's be honest here and admit, it's the steam we are mainly interested in with a good storyline to boot which Lane Hart does perfectly!

Once again another hot read and I can't wait to see what comes next in the series!

Cute and Funny

In this second novel of Lane Hart's Playing Dirty series, Quinton is faced with a small problem---a baby left on his doorstep! This book starts out hilarious as Quinton and his teammates try to "tackle" the complexities of taking care of an infant. While he balances leading a team, caring for a baby, and searching for the identity of the baby's mother, he meets Callie who may or may not be the baby's aunt. Things "spiral" out of control quickly. While I loved the character of Quinton, a sweetheart that shows integrity both on and off the field, I really couldn't connect with Callie. Things just seemed to go too quickly for me. She goes from being a wild-eyed banshee threatening lawsuits to a please, give me a baby of my own manipulator. I just didn't see the chemistry or get past the fact that it seemed Quinton was just being used for his baby-making abilities. Despite my lack of connection with Callie, I still enjoyed the book and thought the story was entertaining and light-hearted. I'm excited to see where the story goes next in this series as well as keeping up with all the characters we have met thus far.

4.5 stars.

Quinn is well out of his element when he opens his door to find a baby there. Having never held a baby before it's quite amusing to watch him struggle. I loved Quinton. He's been a player in the past but he's surprisingly sweet. Most men would run if a baby turned up on their doorstep but not Quinn. Quinn steps up and does what's needed to be done for the baby, all while trying to find its mum. Which leads him to Callie's doorstep.

I didn't particularly like Callie. In fact that's too nice. I hated her. She's very bitter, which while it's understandable, it makes her come across as a rude bitch in the beginning. She's so single minded in what she wants and in this case it made her seem quite selfish and I struggled to really understand her. I did end up liking her in the end though.

This is a really good sports romance. The characters are mostly likeable and it's got everything I've come to expect from Lane Harts books. A good story, a new bbf for me to swoon over, some funny parts and some hot as hell parts..it's got it all.

Unlikable hero, his manwhorishness was very detailed mentioned; and how should I believe he could settle down with a 12 years older woman, when he told me permanently he needed sex almost daily and better with a new woman.
Unfortunately I also didn’t like the h. I understood that she was hurt, but she threw her pregnant sister away and then she cried that her sister didn’t give her the child…
H slept with h’s sister, h’s sister slept with h’s husband. H & h slept together. Happy family?!
The sister died, H got his son as a “present”, met the h and ups! fell in lust with her.
h knew he was a manwhore, but nevertheless slept with him without condom because she wanted to get pregnant… *eww*
He was 25, she was 37. I like older heroine trope, but only when a younger hero behaves mature. I missed it here.
Sorry, but I don’t believe in any HEA for this couple. 5 years max and he would cheat on her.
Sorry, but it how I saw their story…

Just Ok

I liked the story but I felt like everything happened too quickly. I wanted to see Callie and Quinton fall in love but it all happened so quickly I felt like I missed it. I thought Callie's actions were actually pretty crappy and it made her less sympathetic to me. The story itself could have been really great but the execution fell flat.

Callie Clarke drives up to her cottage and sees her sister’s car parked outside. Filled with anger, she yells at her to leave. Her sister is a heroin user, but she tells Callie she is pregnant and has been clean since she found out. Despite Callie giving her a place to live and spending thousands of dollars on rehab, for the price of a fix, her sister had slept with Callie’s husband. She refuses to help her sister and believe her lies yet again.

Quinton Dunn is the starting quarterback for the Wilmington Wildcats. All he wants is for a woman to see the real him and want him for who he is. But right now, they all want his money, fame, and whatever else motivates them. Yet he keeps looking for that special one. At the knock on the door, he expects a lust-filled woman to be visiting him, as usually happens. Instead, he finds a car seat with a sleeping baby! He thought his team mate was pulling a joke, but Lathan was likewise shocked. A note said the mother thought it was Quinton’s, so she’s giving the baby to him to care for. The two guys freak out and call a female friend to find out what to do as the baby starts crying. Fortunately, their female team mate, Roxy, comes to their aid.

In trying to track down the possible mother, he remembers only one time when he got so drunk that he wasn’t sure how careful he always was. He tracked the woman to a bar and was given an address, which turned out to be Callie’s. She was divorcing her husband, had lost her sister to an overdose, and now Quinton arrived with another issue to be dealt with. Until DNA tests can prove who the parents are, the baby’s future is not clear. Both of them spend time with the baby while they wait. Will Quinton ultimately realize he has found that special woman who saw who he really was, not the football star the rest drooled over? Is there a chance at creating a family despite all Callie has been through? And what happens if the baby is not related to either of them?

This was a very good story. It was fast-moving and kept the reader involved. The strong emotions allowed the reader to see how each character felt and responded to the difficult situations. I thought it was very well done and I recommend the book.

I was given this as an arc by Lane. I voluntarily decided to leave a review. This is my honest review.
Wow I loved it from the start and wow what a start, nothing like I expected! I don't know how Lane manages to write such great stories or how she thinks of them, every book she writes is brilliant and this book is perfect yet again! Her imagination is fantastic and I couldn't put the book down throwing yet again another really late night/ early morning before finally finishing it.
It was such a dramatic start and it didn't lose pace all the way through.
I loved the way she has characters from the previous books popping up throughout the book making it feel comfortable because you already know so many of them, like long lost friends.
Quinton steps right up when most in his position would just hand a baby over that's been left in your doorstep even if the note says it's yours.
He might not be the brightest but he knows what's right and he's never had someone that depends on him. He's scared of the thought of it but until the paternity results he is manning up and doing something right and responsible for once even though he can't remember who the mother is because they're has been that many. He's always been so careful, you have to be when there are so many wanting a piece of you all the time, but most just want you because of who you are and how much you've got, not because they want you for you.
I loved everything about this book and I loved the way you felt like you were there with them watching it all unfold.
You can feel the emotion pouring through the book. You see both sides and both points of view, I love the way Lane writes each chapter as a characters point of view from their perspective and you feel them coming through and an emotional bond to them. It's an emotionally charged book from the start and that carries on throughout.
You see the characters grow and you want to shake them and tell them to just trust each other and let themselves go with how they feel rather than how they think the other one feels!
It's a beautiful romance and you are willing them to see it.
I would recommend it to anyone that likes a great romance with some hot scenes to it, they are perfect and suit the story so well.
It can be read as a stand alone but I liked the way I'd read the previous book Ballbuster because of the characters from it being in this book as well, it's another series I will read again and love having in my library.

This author has me under a spell... It's the truth. Because everytime I know that she has a new book I can't wait until I put my claws on it and start reading it right away. Oh boy I was so not prepare for this
Has everyone knows Lane Hart has a sweet and spicy writing that can give you hot flashes, really hot flashes. And this book just proves what I'm saying.
Perfect Spiral is the second book from the Paying Dirty series and not only has a super hot cover, Jesus those arms!!!?, but also the story will hook you up with a flick of a page.
I totally advise you to read Ballbuster first because you will have an insight into the characters that appears in both books. You need to know the team.
This book tells the stories of Callie and Quinton.
Quinton is the star quarterback and loves that sport. He's very good doing it and he knows it. He's cocky as hell and a womaniser. He's a true believer of one night stands but he's getting sick of it. He wants a woman that can love him, for him and not for his fame or money. But can he find that woman? Or is she a myth like the lochness monster? But he couldn't believe the surprise that was left on his front porch...
Callie was seriously betrayed by the two persons who should loved her unconditionally and she can't forgive or forget. She only wanted love, happiness and a family and instead she got betrayal, sadness and loneliness. When she meets the enigmatic Quinton her only thought is that he's a jerk and cocky men.
Oh my freaking God this book is so so good. The hole plot, the story, the love even the sadness it's overwhelming.
I love a story the can hook me up from the beginning and this one has managed to do just that. Once I started to read it I couldn't stop, I simply couldn't.
And sweet baby Jesus the hot scenes... They were raw and intense.
The main lesson to take from this book is that love conquers all and that everything happens for a reason even if at the time we don't believe in that.
Oh boy Lane Hart you nailed it. I want more books from you, I want more books from the first main characters as well as the other team mates.

This sweet and sexy football romance was predictable but surprisingly well written and entertaining. Quinton epitomized the cocky jock who was on the top of the world. His world is flipped on its axis when he finds a baby in his doorstep.
Callie’s life is the flip opposite of Quinton’s as she is going through a painful divorce, her druggy sister has just overdosed, her own infertility and cheating husband dragging her lower than she’s ever been.
I liked the way the author brings these two together. Quinton man’s up and takes responsibility for his son that resulted in a drunken one night stand. He doesn’t make excuses and he doesn’t place any blame on any one. I liked that about him.
The fact that he is looking for someone to see past his star quarterback status and finds that in the older but totally sweet Callie was romantic and appealing. I also loved the way the author has him deal with Callie’s insecurities of infidelity by sticking by her and not giving up.
Not an original storyline, but well written and well executed. Good pacing and good relational buildup with very hot steamy scenes that focused on Quinton’s intense loyal feelings for Callie.
This one just kept getting better and better. A bit of drama with her infertility issues and other women wanting Quinton, but this just added to the story and enhanced the connection they had with each other.
Very enjoyable read!

This was sweet. Callie was a bit of a Debbie downer with all of her insecurities and whatnot, her cheating ex husband and junkie sister were to blame for that. Oh she was also a tad bit selfish. Like all the other nameless and faceless women that used Quinton for his money and fame, Callie used him as well to get what she wanted, so while she didn't trust him worth a damn and accused him constantly of cheating, that shit still didn't stop her from using him to get pregnant, so basically she was full of shit! When she wasn't being a downer, drowning in self pity or accusing Quinton of stupid shit, she was actually a pretty decent person who loved her nephew unconditionally and eventually Quinton too.

Quinton was actually really cool. It was sort of surreal seeing someone like him, famous, rich, sexy football player always refer to himself as less than smart. He may not have had Einstein's IQ but he was a smart cookie, a great father and quite frankly pussy whipped to the nth degree! He went from being a huge manwhore to following Callie around like a little puppy. It was funny but also pathetic. Still he was loyal and faithful to her despite her constant accusations, so kudos to him for putting up with her crap. Especially since he was so young, any other twenty five year old would have just moved on, so yeah she was lucky he put up with her crazy ass!!

I love football and thoroughly enjoyed this sexy story with great characters, romance and intrigue. He was a multi million dollar football quarterback who had a different woman every night. He was wishing to find a woman that did not throw herself at him. One day a knock on the door left a baby in a carrier with a diaper bag and a note without a name saying the baby was his. He didn't have a clue who was the mother and if the baby belonged to him or not. Some friends helped him figure out what to do with the baby, which was funny. After a clue from a friend who the mother might be, he tracked her down to find out she had died over the weekend. Her sister wanted the baby but he would not give him up. There is a lot of romance and the ending is great. I enjoy all the books from this author.

Someone leaves a baby on Quinton Dunn's porch claiming it is his. He thinks it's a joke but decides to have a DNA test to find out. In the meantime, he tries to remember what he did 9 months previously to have a baby. He remembers with help from his teammates. He tracks down the address of the baby's mother only to be met by her sister with anger. Callie is exactly what he is looking for--a woman who says no. They fight over the baby then come to an arrangement. Quinton pursues her, but she is gun shy because of her ex and her sister. Is he the father of the baby? Can they come to an agreement? Can he convince her he's changed?

I enjoyed this story. I liked Quinton and Callie. I found Quin's criteria for a woman interesting. I loved the two points-of-view through the story. I like knowing what each one is thinking and feeling. I understand Callie's feelings knowing his history. I appreciated his teammates warning him about Callie's desire for a baby, but I liked that he ignored them.

I look forward to reading more of this series. It made me feel good although the subjects talked of are tough. I felt hopeful for Quinton and Callie throughout the book.

Perfect Spiral by Lane Hart a perfect five-star read. This is the second book in the second book in the Playing Dirty series and it just gets better with each book, I am eagerly awaiting the third book as the Wildcats have me hooked. Quinton is a star quarterback, it’s all he knows, that and drinking and having fun. But when he opens his door one evening the thing he wasn’t expecting to find was a baby, seems his wayward past is catching up to him. I loved Quinton when we met him in the first book if the series Ballbuster, where his cheeky attitude made him a lovable rouge. In this story, he has to grow up fast and it shows him in a different light, a light I loved.
Callie is a woman with the world on her shoulders and it’s about to get heavier, she is beaten down but in typical Lane Hart fashion she doesn’t let her leading lady stay down, she writes them with the skill to be more than they ever realised and she allows them to be the strong leading lady they deserve to be.
Lane Hart is one of those authors you leap at the thought of them releasing another book, I am fast working my way through everything she has written, my only worry is what will I do when I have read them all? I can only harass her so much to get writing, I know she has a family and all. But I do secretly hope I win the lottery so I can do a misery style affair but I would be kind and wouldn’t chain her up, and I would invite the family. But no distractions as we need more books. Mmmmm a girl can dream and buy more tickets.

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Quinton and Callie. Quinton is the starting quarter back for the Wilmington wildcats. Callie is trying to get out of get failed marriage, her husband cheated on her with her sister Bianca. So when Bianca shows up and tells Callie she's pregnant, Callie assumes is her ex's. Quinton gets an unexpected delivered at his home, a baby with just a note saying he's yours. So when Quinton tries to find the baby's mom, he finds Callie and she's is hurt since she can't have kids and her sister did, but then overdosed and dies. Leaving Callie and Quinton to fight over custody. But neither expected to fall in love. The chemistry is crazy. He promises to give her a baby of her own. Love the interaction between the characters past and present.

A wonderful older woman/younger man panty melting and steamy sports romance.
Callie is angry and full of resentment towards her sister and soon to be ex husband, it gets even worse when she finds out that her sister is pregnant.
And now there is a giant at her door claiming to be her nephews father.....
Quinton is the star quarterback for his team and a bigger star amongst the ladies , the sex crazed playboy will never turn down a lady.
But he is getting tired of the playboy lifestyle as its getting boring, he wants a challenge, he wants to be the one chasing the women.
When he meets his sons aunt he decides within minutes that she is the woman for him and there is no way he is letting her go. She is perfect, she has no idea who he is....and she punched him...what is there not to love about the pixie sized fiesty woman!!!. She hates him....she is perfect.

Another hot football player!!! This is a great series!
Quinton Dunn, the hot shot QB for the Wilmington Wildcats.... Callie Clarke, your average 30-something woman. What brings 2 people like this together??? A baby! His son/her nephew. He wanted a challenge and she gave it to him. When he finally wins her over, she still wasn't making it easy on him. I love that he never gave up on her. He never gave up , or let her give up , on getting her pregnant. He never gave up on getting her to trust him. And in the end, they both got what they wanted.

I was in love with Kohen and Roxy. I fell even more in love with Quinton and Callie. From what I have read of Lathan in the first 2 books, I know I will love him too and I can't wait to read about the special woman he's saved himself for.
