Livia is on a journey to find herself. After a tragedy and a broken engagement, she is taking to the road to find out what she wants to do with her life. When her car breaks down and she is stranded at a truck stop she decides to approach a trucker with an offer. Fifteen thousand dollars for one month on the road with him.

Killian Lemarque has demons of his own. He enjoys the peace and solitude that long haul trucking provides him. The last thing he wants is to be stuck in his truck for a month with Livia. But something in her eyes has him agreeing.

One Month. One Truck. Two Wounded People...

What a refreshing and original little book this was. In the vast sea of overused plots and tired tropes it's nice to see an author give us something DIFFERENT. Oh sure it's still a romance at heart. Boy meets girl...they fall in love...they live happily ever after...yadda yadda yadda. But what made this book unique to me was the setting. A romance between two wounded people set against a backdrop of long haul trucking.

description

This book felt intimate to me. Just two people without the interference and drama of others. We get an occasional few pages of interaction with secondary characters, but for the vast majority of the book, it is just Killian and Livia.

I adored both these characters. Livia was just such a likable character. My heart broke for her, but at the same time, she showed a strength and love for life that I couldn't help but fall a little in love with her myself. Killian was the brooding silent type. Fighting his own demons, he made the perfect foil to Livia's zest for life. Together these two brought out the best in each other.

Usually, I'm not one for slow burn (and honestly, I don't even think I'd call this one slow burn) but I love how the author built up this relationship for the first half of the book. I think in this particular story it was needed. Sure the sex was hot, but for me, the best part of this book was their conversations and interactions during the long drives. It gave the book that extra layer of intimacy that made it that much more amazing.

So ya, I LOVED it. Not too much of a surprise since I have been loving on this author since I read her book THE FINAL KO and many others since. Now I shall have to sit and wait patiently for Joel's book! Two HUGE thumbs up from yours truly.

Overall Opinion: This was a pretty light and sexy read. I enjoyed the fact that it was so different. I think I would've appreciated some more depth into the characters, and I really wanted more of a HEA. It's not one for my favorites shelf, and it might not be all that memorable (except the different premise). Overall it was enjoyable, hot, and low angst read.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Livia and Killian's story. Livia is in a bad place in her life right now, and she decides to take to the road. When her car breaks down, she propositions a truck driver to let her tag along for a month. Killian's reluctantly agrees because he sees something in her that he can relate to. They start their journey, and it is bumpy at first. They eventually fall in love, but have to get through some personal issues before getting their HFN ending.

POV: This alternated between Livia and Killian's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Good. I never skimmed, and I thought it flowed well.

Instalove: No, they take a while to develop stronger feelings (but they are together for shorter than a month, so I guess it was pretty quick)

H rating: 4 stars. Killian. I liked his grumpiness, dirty talking self.

h rating: 4 stars. Livia. I liked her bubbly personality, and I felt bad for her struggles to where I was rooting for her.

Sadness level: Low. I never needed any tissues for this.

Push/Pull: Not really

Heat level: They have some hot chemistry and scenes.

Descriptive sex: Yes

Safe sex: No

OW/OM drama: Yes, but mild

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This had a cute epilogue, but my greedy self wanted more. I would call it a HFN ending, but others might call it a HEA.

How I got it: I paid the $2.99 on Amazon for it.

Safety: This one should be Safe for most readers.

★★★★ 3.5 - 4 Stars ★★★★

Long Drive is a sweet romance, between a woman fresh out of a broken down engagement, and an ornery trucker who prefers to keep people at arms length.

When Livia finds herself at a crossroads in her life, she decides to offer the lone trucker $15,000 to take her with him on a run, and despite his reservations, Killian Lemarque decides that this talkative woman who ambushed him at the trucker stop is worth taking a chance on.

What I liked most was that the characters were very likeable, and the natural progression of their relationship was completely realistic - it was a solid story with no drama, and recommend this book to those who love a bit of spicy with their sweet.

Great and fun question from book: "What is your theme song? If you could use a song to describe you right now, what would it be?

Livia has had a major life shift and a crazy idea to help her get her life together. When her car breaks down at a truck stop she approaches Killian Lemarque with a deal. She will pay him to let her ride with him for a full month. At first Killian thinks she is crazy but he sees something in her eyes that make him say yes. Killian is a grumpy loner with his own bad memories that haunt him and at first the bubbly passenger seems like a mistake but as they ride and get to know each other they bring things into each others life that had been missing but with time being limited they must also think what happens when the month is over and Livia has to figure out what to do next.

I loved, loved, loved this book. This is my second trucker plotline book and another one I really feel in love with everything about it. Livia was nice, sweet and funny. She is really the type of heroine I love. She had spunk but nothing that could grate my nerves. Killian was hot and super sexy but he also was smart and could be so extreme intuitive with Livia too. Livia brought some sunshine in his dark, lonely world and he teaches her that she is good enough to be anything she wants and to be brave enough to be herself. Now their was a short separation but it was one that was actually sweet and one that I understood and was completely okay with which is not my norm. It was funny and sweet and hot. It was romantic and made me feel good. I loved it and so far this is my favorite of the year.

LONG DRIVE: This is my first read by this author, but add in the hot cover, the synopsis and I was beyond intrigued to see what was within the pages enough to request an arc of this, and I am so glad I did.

Long Drive is told in ‘Dual Perspectives’ Killian is a man of few words, but you can’t help but warm to him, but once Livia starts knocking down his fort knox walls his words are delectable.

Livia is a happy go lucky kind of female who finds pleasure in the little things and has a bubbly talkative personality to boot which makes 'Long Drive' a quick quirky fun read.

So who in their rightful mind would approach a virtual stranger and offer him $15,000 to take her with him on his journey out of state? Livia that’s who!!
With a new chapter in her life, and a life that she knew to be in ruins twenty-six year old Livia can’t think of a better way to get it back on track than a one month road trip, a time to heal, a time to reflect, a journey of self discovery.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic I had one goal, to figure my shit out. I needed space and time to figure out what I wanted out of life, a little soul searching along the way.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic Image and video hosting by TinyPic

What she didn’t plan on encountering was the broody, hot, doesn’t talk much Killian Lemarque. An ex military man with battle scars, a lone wolf who lives for the road.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic Killian was not a man of many words. He was mostly a caveman with a commercial vehicle license.
AND Livia was like a whirlwind, either get out of the way or fly in the wind with her.

I wasn't really sure what to expect from this or if I would really like it to be honest, but what a surprise, I fell under this authors story telling web until the very last page was inhaled. Such a unique storyline, I loved the characters, an easy to get into story without all the angst or too and fro I seem to get stuck with reading nowadays. This book is like a breath of fresh air.

What's to become of these two once the month is up and they go their separate ways? One click to find out!!

5 "TRUCK YES" STARS.

Long Drive was my first Jessica Florence's book. I have to say that I'm not that much into 'road trip' books, hence I was hesitant to read this one after reading the blurb, but I decided to give it a try anyway and right now I'm ready to pack my bags and hit the road with a hot but grumpy-ass trucker.

I'm pretty sure you will be wondering, A TRUCKER? Really? Yeah. We don't usually get Truckers as heroes; so even though I wasn't sure how the author was going to make the hero likable, I was gladly surprise for the change. Don't get me wrong, I love the detectives, psychos, rich men, killers, polices, etc. But a trucker was definitely a breath of fresh air, and I didn't just like him... I freaking loved him!!!

description

"This was a new chapter in my life. I had no clue where my storyline was going to head, but I was willing to turn the pages one by one to find out."

Wanting to move on from her past and trying to find herself on the road, Livia Jones decides to hop in her car and just drive. But what happens when your car breaks down and the only way to keep up with your plan is to hit the road with a total stranger in his big, blue semi-trailer truck?...

Being around people is not something Killian Lemarque enjoys, but one look to Livia eyes and he couldn't say no. And so their journey begins.

Livia and her bubbly personality got on Killian's nerves but after a couple of songs and some twizzlers, Livia got to crack his hard exterior, making Killian enjoyed her time with her.

description

With every mile, the boundaries were burn to ashes. The stares were more penetrating and not to fall for each other was impossible.

They agreed to one month. So what happen after their time is up? Are they going to go their separate ways? Or are they going to take a long drive with destiny?

description

Long Drive is the perfect recipe of quirky and sweet mixed with a sensual love story. Ideal for all romance readers looking for a HEA.

Looking forward to read more from Jessica Florence.

**** IT'S LIVE ****

** ARC received in exchange for an honest review **

The thunder cloud gets his sunshine. ♡

Two people, both missing pieces find each other by destiny.  That is the best way to describe this story.   Killian and Livia each were broken, yet together, they made one.

If you want instalove,  you won't find it here - they tried to resist their pull towards each other.  It was inevitable though.  (Around the 50% mark things did get spicy ) I adored them and was rooting for them all the way. I will say though,  the lack of instalove worked for this story.

HERO~Killian Lemarque was a broody, grumpy, sexy hero.  He was an injured veteran who kept to himself.  With very few friends, he spent most of his time alone on the open road.  He liked the solitude of a long drive in his big rig across the United States, where he could hide from the darkness he often felt.

HEROINE~Livia was a very likable heroine.  She was quirky and bubbly, but she too had a dark/sadness that she was struggling with.  She needed to escape and find what she truly wanted out of life

SEXUAL HISTORY~Neither were virgins.  Although Killian had been with women, he didn't appear as a manwhore and hadn't had a relationship in years.  Livia had been engaged and it turned bad (one of the reasons she needed to get away)

OM DRAMA ~As noted, Livia had been engaged.  She realized she hadn't truly loved him and he didn't love her, just wanted her to fit a certain mold.  He didn't cause the couple any problems at all.

OW DRAMA~ None whatsoever

ENDING~ There was a cute epilogue BUT, it left me wanting more.   Killian's friend Joel is set to have a book so I'm hoping/wishing/praying we get more about this couple in his story.

**update - this couple will be in book 2 so I'm upping my rating

I didn't know it was a 157-page novella and by the time I realized it was, I was already half way and totally pissed at myself because I don't like novellas. They are short without enough depth. Problems are solved way too easily so I never find the story satisfactory or convincing. Same here, of course!

This one begins with Livia asking this question to a random truck driver, Killian, she has never met before:

“I ’ll give you ten thousand dollars to let me ride around with you for a month.”

Why Killian?

Because the group of truck drivers that she met and talked to in the truck-stop said he was the only one who drove out of the state, and that she should ask him.

And why was she at that truck stop?

Oh, her car broke down on the way and the mechanic said she should wait for a few days but instead of waiting and then travelling safely in her own car, she had this crazy idea of "going out of state and travelling with a random guy in his truck!" (I think this part was the part that was supposed to be hot... Um, I couldn't get it or feel it, sorry!)

Killian, the hot and grumpy truck driver first refuses her but then when she insists, he caves in.

So, Livia starts a one-month-journey out of state with a truck driver! All she wants is to go and find herself on the roads and she couldn't think a better way! I mean, come on, take a tour or a bus drive with people in it for God's sake? Or how about with a friend? Or why not wait for your car to be repaired? God, how crazy is that? He could be a dangerous person, a drug dealer, a psycho or a rapist... How can you drive all day with a random truck driver and then sleep peacefully in his bunk-bed in the truck?

Yeah, of course the story goes from finding herself on the road to finding herself in Killian's bed or both!

Before this crazy journey, Livia was destroyed by the latest events in her life and Killian's life was already clouds and shadows.

Long story short, she becomes the "sunshine" in his cloudy simple life and driving all around the country with Killian becomes "her thing" as she loves this adventurous life style and finds it satisfactory and peaceful enough to go on. All past problems are forgotten - happily ever after!

So, something crazy, nothing special. You might as well pass it...

This author is absolutely going to be on my 2017 #Stalking schedule. I really enjoyed this hostile acquaintance to friends to lover's story. Totally other woman drama free and full of sexy times that had me fanning myself. But note than that it had one hero , Killian, who was by far amazing and loyal and simply perfect for Livia our heroine. These two had sparks that you felt even when he was so surly. It's like you could read through that animosity right to the heart of what he truly felt and that was deep and soul stirring want. But not just physical. No it was way beyond skin deep. These two were funny , silly and sexy. I adored everything. The only downside was a missing part in their HEA ..but since we'll see more of them hopefully in Joel's story I'll hold out for my dream to come true. Please Jessica give me.. please.

IT'S LIVEEEEEEEE!!!

My Review <3

Normally I would just say something like I dig it, or I approve.. But for this one I wanna say a little more.

This book is about a trucker. Yep. A trucker. Pretty much everyone who has read it so far has been like "uhhh not so sure about it but I'm going to try it anyways." Because let's be honest, a trucker romance is different.
But what you get isn't what you are expecting.
This book is different! It is unique!
It has the perfect amount of both to keep you reading from page one, living along side these two characters as they journey around the USA together in a big Semi Truck. It's been called a breath of Fresh Air in the romance Genre by pretty much everyone. Worth taking a chance on!

If you have ever just wanted to pack a bag and drive where ever the road takes you this book is dedicated to you.
Livia (h) does exactly that. Her life is screwed and she doesn't know what to do with it so she hops in her car and drives off. but then it breaks down and she comes up with a crazy plan to tag along with a trucker for a month and figure her shit out.
What she didn't expect was the grumpy, not a man of many words Killian. A super sexy trucker, loner, and ex military.
Together their story will captivate you and swoon your soul.

I know it's different. I know different is scary. But sometimes different is just what you needed.
Give this unique contemporary romance about a trucker a chance.

Long Drive by Jessica Florence
Contemporary Romance, Standalone (but there will be a spin-off)
4.25 Stars

I love a unique read. I'm always looking for books that don't follow the trends, so when I saw Jessica Florence was writing Long Drive ,  a book about a long distance truck driver, I wanted it right away! In a world of billionaires, sports stars, rock stars, Doms, fighters, cops, stepbrothers and princes, it's nice to see a regular guy hero with a regular guy job.

Livia just had a bad breakup and was going through some stuff. She took off for a month on the road to get her mind together and try something new. She has never left Florida, so it's time to experience life....that is, until her car breaks down. Desperate to start this new chapter in her life and not willing to wait days for a repair, she offers a truck driver $15,000 to let her go on the road with him for 30 days.
I had one goal, to figure my shit out. I needed space and time to figure out what I wanted out of life, a little soul searching along the way.

Killian is a pretty quiet man who likes his solitary time on the road. He is a simple man and doesn't need the money, in fact, he thinks Livia may be completely nuts.
Just another reason I should have said no to her proposal, except there was something in her eyes that told me not to, that she needed this like she needed air, and fuck if I was going to let this woman suffocate.

They are complete opposites. Livia is an upbeat, lively chatterbox and Killian is a reticent loner.
Killian was not a man of many words. He was mostly a caveman with a commercial vehicle license.

But he couldn't say he didn't really know what he was in for.
“Right, silent type. No worries. I can be quiet for a little while.” She looked determined.
My clock on the dash said 8:10 a.m. I bet myself a pack of Twizzlers the next time we stopped that she wouldn’t be able to make it thirty minutes without talking.

Even though he found her attractive, he wasn't a horndog, and had no intention of doing anything with her. He could go thirty days without sex, no problem. Well, maybe a little problem...
I’d made it over twenty-four hours without thinking about her in any sexual way, and now that I had, it would fuck with me until she left. But hell if I was going to start any sort of sexual relationship with her, and have to drive with her in the same truck.

Despite his attempts at being miserable for the whole ride, Killian just couldn't help but get sucked into her sunshiny demeanor.
For once in a very long time, I let myself enjoy the moment, breaking past my own rain cloud to bask in her sunshine, just for a moment.  She smiled, laughed, and gave the song her all. Livia was an incredible woman, and I knew she didn’t understand just how amazing her spirit was, that she could bring a man like me out of the darkness, even for four minutes of a song.

Speaking of songs, I love the games they played to get to know each other  -- 20 questions and "what's your theme song" at the moment. And speaking of getting to know each other, there was no insta-love, it was more of a slow burn. But when it finally caught fire....HOT!
“Say my name one more time, and I’ll crush your perfect fucking body against the wall behind us, and dry fuck you until everyone on the strip knows my name.”

“God won’t want any part of the things I would do to you Livia.”

What I found interesting was that we were in their heads a lot in the dual POV story. There wasn't a ton of dialogue or outside characters, but I never felt like anything more was needed. I like the fact that they both got to work on themselves and grow together without it ever getting boring.

The problem was...30 days was coming to an end really soon, what would they do then?

Likes:

•A unique story.
•I never read a trucker book.
•I really loved Livia.
•Killian is a quiet sex god.
•Good character growth.
•The love developed over time.
•Not a ton of outside influence or angst.
•Loved the theme songs.
•She's a reader, and friends with 2 real-life authors ;-)
•HOT!!!!
•Loved his actor friend and I'm excited there will be a spin-off about him where we will hopefully get to visit with this couple again.

Dislikes:

•It wasn't epic. Do books have to be epic? Absolutely not, or the epic ones wouldn't stand out.

The Down & Dirty:
The Long Drive by Jessica Florence was a unique read because I have never read a book that took place in a truck with a trucker! It's was nice to read a slow-burn book where no outside influences wreak havoc with the relationship. I enjoyed watching both characters grow and how their relationship naturally blossomed. I enjoyed both characters a lot, the sex was hot, and it was a quick and easy read. Was it an epic read? No. But I enjoyed it thoroughly and it hit the spot for a unique, quick, fun and sexy read with very little angst.

Rating: 4.25 stars, 4.25 heat

When a pretty young girl with a broken down luxury car asks a long distance trucker to let her tag along with him for a month for $15k cash, I happily jumped into the total unreality of that scenario because Livia was honest and upfront and Killian was extremely hot and a man of few words, besides, “Okay.” I give the author props for daring the reader to hoot in derision at that scene and plot line.
But, I willingly jumped, because what girl doesn’t hold a dream in her heart for an improbable adventure like this?

Oh, the beautiful romance bubble of a truck cab and two people getting to know each other, one unwillingly.
Killian is a closed up person from life experiences and solitary trucking suits him to a T. Livia is running to find herself. She has been under the thumb of a dreadful fiance and has had a recent family tragedy.

The interior thoughts in the dual POV were superb! I love a male POV and Killian is all male. Livia was a very good female lead. She wanted to draw out her silent companion, but knew when to be quiet. Killian found himself liking her, then wanting her. Livia was feeling the same.

Here, there was no quick leap into a truck cab bunk. Their burn was slow and then incendiary when the physical happened. The sex mixed with feelings was the best part of the book. The strong attraction and unspoken love between Livia and Killian was extremely well written for many chapters. There are intense sex scenes and playful sex scenes, all of them very good. Two beautiful, hot people. 🔥

I loved the bubble and the travel all around the United States. Their stop off stays were fun and sexy and had visits to nicely drawn side characters who didn’t come along for the ride, yay.

There is a parting. I didn’t like the ‘finding yourself’ trope and the scenes of them apart. Real love is a precious gift. Grab it and don’t let go.
Because a parting is not my jam is not the reason that I thought the writing fell down in the last chapters. There is a silly side plot and scenes with other people that had me wanting things to move along.
I thought their getting back together wasn’t well written, but I did like Killian’s reaction.

The epilogue was all tell and no show, but it was a clever literary device and I love a HEA.

Long Drive

3.5-4.0 stars

Standalone

This is my first book to read by Jessica Florence. I have to admit, I believe this is the first book ever that revolves around a long distant trucker! I thought to myself, how is this going to work...only so much you can do in a truck, right? Jessica Florence did a great job building the story that took so many different 'routes'.

Livia is tired of her current life... Just over it... Hops in her car and decides to travel. However, shortly into her venture, her car breaks down. While waiting for an estimate of how long it will be for her car to get fixed, she decides to see about paying a 'trucker' to let her ride with them for a month.

Killian the 'trucker' who accepts the challenge of letting a woman ride with him for a month... He has been through some pretty tough times himself and is really a loner now. Traveling from state to state delivering cars to their buyers.

This is a great story that has some pretty steamy sex scenes, hot alpha male and a quirky, chatty female. I would have loved to had more of their backgrounds revealed. More of the friendship between Killian and Joel...more on Livia and her family. In my opinion, adding these parts, would enhance the story even more.

Look forward to reading more from Jessica Florence!

10+++ AMAZING STARS for this story! Killian & Livia sucked me in from page one. I did not want to put this down to work. Or sleep. Alas, both those things needed to happen, but every chance I got, this book was open & I was devouring their road trip. SUCH a unique premise, beautifully written. I laughed a lot, had my heartstrings tugged nearly every chapter, sang along with their song choices, celebrated when they had their steamy steamy moments, and HIGHLY enjoyed the way the Epilogue is formatted. Brilliant idea!!

I know the year has only just begun, but this gets a TOP READ mark from me. : )

Did I love this book? Truck yes! Sorry I couldn’t help it! I just had to. I have one quick question.. Where can I find my own Killian? I absolutely adored him! He quickly fell for the annoying bubbly woman-riding passenger in his truck. But instead of keeping hold of her, he let her go in order for her to find herself. For her to discover what she wants to do with her life now that she has a choice. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and I devoured this book in one sitting! Killian and Livia are perfect for one another and I found myself chuckling numerous amount of times. I cannot wait to read whatever delicious read Jessica next releases.

After losing somebody close to her and breaking up with her controlling fiancé, Livia decides to take a jump and to go on a road trip. Before she can even get far enough her car breaks down and she gets a crazy idea to ask a trucker if she can travel with him for a month in exchange for £30’000.
Killian had been minding his own business eating his lunch when a beautiful woman with unique eyes comes up to him offering him money to let her tag along on his job as a trucker delivering cars. After finally agreeing to let her tag along Killian tries to keep himself to himself but he soon realizes one thing: Livia never shuts up! Slowly along the way Killian finds himself up to Livia and it isn’t long until he finds himself falling. But with Livia not knowing what she wants to do with her life and with her still hurting over losing a loved one, Killian knows he has to let Livia go when their month is up. He needs her to get her head sorted and figure out what she wants with her life even if it means losing her for good.

I loved this book!

I was told by a friend to read this I was skeptical I'll be honest a girl offers a random hot trucker a huge lump sum to tag along with him for a month.

Meet livia this poor girl is just lost she's trying to cope with her life, thinking she needs a break she offers Killian money to let her ride along in his rig for one month. Hoping in that time she can figure out what to do with the rest of her life.

Killian broody quiet sweet reserved killian. He's just the sweetst thing ever. He grudgingly agrees to let her tag along. Killian has his own demons he is trying to outrun.

Together these two find out maybe they aren't both so lost after all.... Together..

This isn't a dark book.. Light angst but heartwarming and I have to say I ABSOLUTELY love the theme song idea. I bawled on Long drive and my wish... Ugh the FEELS!!

if your looking for a short sweet finding your way and sunshine type book I would recently recommend this!

No cheating.. No dark taboo themes.. HEA <3

Liva finds a trucker and offers him 15 thousand dollars to drive her around for a month. Killian is a guy that keeps to himself has a past he doesn't share with no one but his best friend until sunshine aka Liva who starts to grow on him. Liva is trying to find herself she herself has a past and she is trying to get Killian to smile and open up so she suggests 21 questions. Wow at first glance your thinking how deep can this book be a story about riding with a truck driver but it opens your eyes. I loved it we see two people hurting inside that fate brings together. You will laugh, cry and fan yourself over the hotness between Liva and Killian 4/5 stars ****Reviewed for Sweet & Spicy Read provided for a voluntarily Advanced Reader Copy of this book ****

Unusual Premise + Low Angst = Fun Read

Livia needs a change of scenery, a chance to feel free, and the opportunity to get back in touch with her life's path. Oddly, she thinks she can find all that in the passenger seat of a big rig. Killian has carved out the ideal life for himself: transient and solitary. But then Killian agrees to take Livia on as a passenger for a month and, naturally, everything changes.

Really liked Livia. She recognized that her road trip companion liked the quiet and mostly indulged him. She wasn't whiney and she didn't demand that he entertain her. I wanted to hug Killian, that handsome wounded teddy bear, upon first meeting him. Loved them together. It was more than physical almost immediately and it was great to watch them both grow as individuals because they were so great together. Can't wait to read Joel's story!

I absolutely adored this book! What made it even better is that I know the author. 😁 This is such a beautiful story about broken people. Killian and Livia have a wonderful story that you just have to read. My favorite parts of this book involve the “What’s your theme song?” game.

I’m also excited that Joel gets his own story, too! Thanks, J Flo!! ❤️

I totally didn't think that I'd get into this book. ONLY because it was about a trucker. Jessica sure did pull me into her greatness. Well done Mz. Florence, well done.
