This book was such a fun read! I loved the world, the characters, and the dialogue! What I liked about the dialogue was that it showed both how much the characters cared for each other but also similar to us have different accents based on where they are from or in the book different creatures! I overall really liked the tone of this novel and am looking forward to the next instalment!!! Highly recommend!!!!

I received this copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I was captivated from the start to finish, it amazed me how a short book like this can have all this much details, The writing is amazing I got lost with the words, the description of Zarox and the creatures make it easy to imagine them, I found myself wanting to discover the world more along with the characters, and speaking about the characters I adored the friendship they had, I think them being friends yet family was so heartwarming.
I love the friendship between Lucy and Riley how they tease each other is super cute, and the relationship with Parker and Callum and how Parker the big brother takes care of his younger brother Callum and how they are always there for each other it's so beautiful, I also loved how the characters developed and everyone of them find themselves
Overall this was a fantastic read, I really enjoyed it and I can clearly see this book turns into a movie, because it deserves it.
If you like fantasy adventure books this is for you I recommend it

“Well, let me assure you, tonight is going to be anything but fun for you and your little friends,”

Parker Reid and his group of friends are your typical group of brains, bronze and beauty. With the stakes high for a spine-chilling adventure, who knows what could happen.

Parker, Riley, Callum and Lucy all bound together to head to one of their towns more frightening places, Churn Zone.

When a school teacher, Mr.Hobbs is involved within their mystery by surprise, nobody knows what to make of their survival or their sanity. After awakening in a new yet unfamiliar world, the group bonds together to find a way back home.

Thrown into a different world of human-eating creatures and nothing they’ve ever seen before, the world of Zarox.

When magically crystals have been chosen, who knows what powers and adventures the group will tackle.

Read Zarox by Louis Smith to find out!

“The crystals you see before you contain powers of unimaginable proportions. I want the four of you to obtain their powers and defend Zarox from the evils within.”

Zarox reminds me of an adventure movie and in some parts, one that’s unheard of.

I found the creatures to be very cute and add a unique twist to the stories plot. I thought the book would be entirely different when I first started it but I’m glad it turned out the way it did.

I loved Lucy’s character, she is independent and being the only girl in a group of boys never made her underestimate her powers. I also loved Rotlier’s character, he reminded me of Dobby from Harry Potter as he tries to take care of the group of warriors and acts as their guardian.

I loved the plot twists and watching the characters develop not only as a group but also finding who they are throughout the story.

I also fell in love with the quest the characters were set on. It took very unique turns and I loved how genuine and honourable the characters became as the story progressed.

The book definitely left on a cliffhanger but I look forward to reading the next installment of Zarox.

I would recommend this book to those who love adventures, sci-fi and a great character developement.

Thank you to Louis Smith for sending me a copy for an honest review!

I was asked to review this book by the author and all my opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed this book, it has a bit of action and a whole lot of fantasy thrown in to keep you reading until the end.

The author takes you on a journey with four young friends, Parker the leader, Lucy the strong female influence, Riley the tough guy and last but not least Callum the younger brother of Parker.

The book takes you on a journey to the world of Zarox with a small vibe of Narnia the quartet travel through to a different dimension where they meet straight away trouble but are helped by Rotlier and sent on a journey of self discovery and work as a team to save a world.

This book is definitely aimed at the younger reader but I did enjoy the book and found each character likeable. My favourite I will say has to be Riley, I feel he will be underappreciated by many but his character and sense of honour is strong and you can't help but love the tough guy.

I would definite recommend anyone who wants to escape into a different world to give this book a read.

At 31 years old I still enjoy stories such as The Hungry Caterpillar or Henry and the purple crayon and let's not forget Goodnight Moon. That's one of the wonderful things about books. They don't have an age limit. While this book is geared towards the middle schooler (middle grade) I found myself on the edge of my set to see where the quest for Parker, Callum, Lucy and Riley led.

When reading as the tale began to unfold about the decrepitation of Zarox, I found myself saying this all sounds so very familiar, Treaties were drawn up, treaties being broken, separation of beings. Then it hit me this is a mystified version of the UN (United Nations). I know it sounds insane but that's just what popped into my mind. It completely captured me in full.

You have a magical language which I found to be absolutely delightful when I figured it out. Maybe you'll figure it out if you look close enough.

In this book, you'll encounter important lesson that are cleverly hidden amongst our young cast. You can see values being thought of friendship, family, healthy competition, and bullying. All put into a form that will inspire those with an inquisitive mind.

You'll find yourself lost and reluctant to return to reality as Smith creativity of an eccentric world that is easily imaginable in your mind. This is by far some of the best world building I have encountered in a book with this marketing age bracket.

Truly this book is meant for the many fans of {Hold your breath, I know this is a big title I'm going to drop} Harry Potter {Breath} and { Hold it again} Chronicles of Narnia.

*I was sent an ebook copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review*

Granted that middle grade fantasy is not the kind of genre that I usually reach out for, I actually found myself enjoying this book more than I thought I would.
Zarox is the name of the world our four protagonists, Parker, his little brother Callum and his friends, Lucy and Riley, are thrust into after events that I will not disclose because that would be a spoiler! Here, the four protagonists meet a variety of different creatures, some good and some bad, and are entrusted with magical crystals that grant them abilities that will be vital to their mission: saving the world of Zarox.
The book centers mostly around the protagonists learning how to master their new powers and their journey to finding the pages of the Book of Zarox, whose pages hold the secrets of the crystals.

The story itself was quite captivating also thanks to the writing, which is very simple and makes for a very fluent narration. I was very curious about the various characters that were introduced along the way and the abilities that the protagonists unlocked. The world of Zarox was vast, creative and very entertaining. Another element I really loved about this book was the importance of friendship and loyalty. Being this a middle grade book, I imagine this story going in the hands of children and I found that the representation of friendship in this book was quite inspring. Definitely a great read for young people.
However I wouldn't say I recommend this book to everyone. If you are used to MGs or if you are looking for a light read that is neither too long nor too complicated, then I really think you will appreciate this book. But, if you rather prefer YA or even Adult books, then proceed with caution. Personally, being a YA/Adult reader, what I found lacking in this book was a deeper introspection of the characters, a deeper analysis of their feelings and their relationship with their surroundings. The characters themselves were not too complex and at times I felt they were a little bit stereotypical: Callum is the little brother, so he is very exuberant. Riley is the strongest of the group, so he's not the brightest. Lucy is the only girl, she's competitive and not always very nice. Parker is the leader of the group, so he's the one delivering the inspiring speeches that everyone agrees with. However, I researched a little bit about the world of MGs and realized that this is actually correct for the genre so, once again, Zarox is a perfect representitive of its genre.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book, even if it was out of my "comfort zone" and I'm curious to see where the story heads in the next book!

All views are my own.

I liked it overall, it took me a moment to get into it as I realized it was more for a younger generation than my old self. But I gave it a chance and I thought if I had come across this while I was younger I would have enjoyed it. I really liked meeting the characters and the creatures and seeing the world of Zarox. The creatures were very creative and I think I enjoyed them the most. I would gladly recommend this book to young fantasy readers as I think many would enjoy it.

Brilliant book, it reminds me so much of Narnia and The never-ending story with the characters and all the different kind of magical animals and people.
I tend to avoid middle grade books or books with little to no romance as I never really enjoy them, I'm glad I gave this book a chance as it really surprised me.
Although it's a genre I don't normally enjoy, I would reccomened this book to people who love adventure and amazing friendships!

This is a fun and magical read that will suck you into the world of Zarox. The adventure of Parker, Lucy, Callum and Riley is easy to follow and the characters themselves are amazing. All the creatures in the magical world are so creative (e.g. the way they speak, where they live and the things they do) and the plot was pretty unique as well. My favourite part of this book is the magic and crystals. I honestly wish I was one of them so I could get a crystal and have awesome magical powers.

I know this is a book for middle-grades, but I feel like the death of a character would've made the story more realistic. There were a few close calls, and I'm not saying I want them dead or anything, but if they did end up dying, I would be sad, but not surprised.

Overall, this was a really fun read and it's a great book if you want to read a middle-grade book that has a message of friendship behind it. Can't wait till the next book comes out!

"Sometimes the power of the heart can see and hear things that we otherwise close ourselves off to"

I received a free digital copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. And, honestly, I really enjoyed it!

'Zarox' is a middle grade fantasy adventure novel about a group of four friends that enters the world of Zarox and has to save that world from the bad creatures. They receive unique powers to help them on their mission and after some training they start their journey through Zarox.

Like I said, I really liked this book. What I appreciated a lot about it was that there is no long slow beginning before the adventure begins. It starts with a chapter to intruduce the characters and to get to know their situations and then they already enter Zarox in the next chapter.

I really loved the characters and their friendship. They are all different and unique in their own way. And their friendship is actually goals. They trust and care a lot about each other and don't want anything bad to happen to each other, but they also make fun of each other sometimes. They are also a really good team when they are on their mission.

What I also loved a lot about this book is the world. With Zarox the author has created a unique world filled with fantastical creatures and magic. One type of magical creature, called Trallops, speaks with some kind of dialect. I liked the idea and it makes sense that different creatures in different worlds speak differently, but it slowed down my reading a bit, especially in the beginning because I wasn't used to it. But aside from that the book is really easy to read and there's always something exciting going on, so that it's never boring. I especially loved the training scenes and the ending. That was when the book started to really grip me so that I couldn't stop reading. The last two chapters were really well written. The book ended with a cliffhanger and I can't wait to read the next book.

This story is one of adventure and friendship and I would definitely recommend it. I think it's a perfect read for younger readers (8-12 years) and those who want to get into fantasy, but I'm sure older readers will enjoy this book too. I mean, I'm 20 and never read middle grade and I really liked it. I'm like the perfect example 😂
Also, there's a dragon in the story!! That alone should be a reason to read it haha.

Zarox was a very fun and light read for me and I really enjoyed it. Fans of the Middle Grade genre are going to love this. I find it the perfect story for young readers and for aficionados of the genre.

The story follows Parker, his younger brother Callum and their friends, Lucy and Riley. One faithful night--in a scene that gave me vague Stranger Things vibes (I loved it!)--they find themselves transported into the world of Zarox. Here, they meet creatures of all sorts, some that want to make a meal out of them, others that come to their rescue and help them on their journey. And what journey would that be? I am glad you asked. Parker and his friends have been chosen by Lupar, the last relitar, to wield the power of four crystals and with them attempt to save the world of Zarox from the evil Zaron. The four friends must journey to find the pages of the Book of Zarox in order to discover the crystals' hidden abilities and to learn how to control their newly gained magic or risk certain defeat.

The story's greatest asset was the bonds of friendship both old and new that the friends share amongst themselves and the creatures that help them during their voyage, especially the trallop Rotlier Rum, who was one of my favorite characters. He was so fun to read! The kids did their best both in terms of power and bravery when it came to helping and protecting each other. The writing was also excellent in my opinion. Very fluent and easy to read.

I had the amazing opportunity of being sent this book by the author and I am so great full for it! I would recommend this book for any child who loves A series of unfortunate events or Harry Potter. The writing is like Lemony Snicket. The book has a great imaginative world that children will adore. I highly recommend it if your child is looking for a fast paced adventure. The characters all contrast each other nicely. This book will be a series so If I were you, I’d be be awaiting for the world to expand even more. Overall, children will love this book. It is available on amazon and most book stores! Go get your self a copy! I am giving this book a 4.5

In a middle grade fantasy adventure novel, Zarox will bring you to a whole new magical world. When four school children go to their school at night looking for adventure, the unexpected occurs, and they are whisked off to the world of Zarox. Unlike anything they’ve seen before, the four are in for the adventure of a lifetime.

I really liked this book, it was a light read that took me on a journey along with the characters in this book. The storyline flowed, and was well paced, with all sorts of unexpected twists and turns within the book. All the different part of the story linked together really well, and it was easy to understand.

Zarox had fantastic world building. The whole land of Zarox – filled with enchantments, magic and all sorts of different creatures were created with perfection really. There was so many intricacies in all the different places the group travelled to that were described so well that I could easily picture the scene. Of course, I have to mention the different creatures as well. From troll – like evils, to soul takers, each had their own character and personality, it was amazing to read of.

The main characters were all unique, and this book with its circumstances really brought out each of their strengths and personality. The four each grew and matured, taking on responsibilities throughout the book in a believable gradual change. The book highlighted their bond as a group, and how working together and supporting each other would be so important. I believe this is a great message for middle grade readers.

All in all, Zarox was a great read, and I definitely recommend it for anyone who likes middle grade fantasy and adventure novels.

Zarox

WOW!!

I'm suprised by this book. I started reading without any knowledge of the story - at all. I found it a fast and easy read. I was with my mind in the world of Zarox, even when I wasn't reading. The pages flew by!

After an short intruduction of the mean characters the story developed when they enter the fantasy world. From this part on I really LOVED the story! Seriously it kept getting better and better!

Bit by bit we get to know the world of Zarox. They four of them are going on a journey to find something they need and in the same time they keep unlocking more of their powers. And grow as a character and person.

"By day, by night, we always have light. We may be small, but we've got lots of fight.
Big of hearts is the Trallops way, don't care what anyone else has to say.
Our eyes are large, but don't ye stare. We are feeling good in our pointy green hair.
So take a knee and sing with us. The Trallops' way is to live with no fuss. "

It was a facinating read! It reminded me about The Hobbit.

I give this book 4.5 stars out of 5. I really enjoy middle grade fiction and this one really tugged at my heart strings. At the start, this seems like a normal story about average, but nice teenage kids. I shortly found out I was wrong and once I could see there was something magical happening, I picked up my reading pace.

I quickly felt like I knew the main characters and became invested in them. This connection really put me through a range of emotions. The author did a great job of creating these characters who have powers, but are not over the top or unrealistic. Sometimes the bickering made me laugh because it's so true to how teenagers act.

I loved learning about the world of Zarox.
At first I was very confused, but things were explained in such a way that it kept me reading to find out more. I loved Rotlier and he definitely became one of my favorite characters. His endearing demeanor reminded me of a hobbit and I chuckled at many of the things he said.

There was an element of a treasure hunt, which I'm always a sucker for. This allowed us the readers to picture this strange land and also we got to meet some very dangerous creatures.

The ending was tense and fast paced and I enjoyed it a lot. I think I felt all the emotions in the last few chapters alone. The ending had me yearning to know what happens next and I hope to be able to see more of these characters soon!

I was asked to review this book by the author and all my opinions are my own.
I loved his books so much, it was mysterious, and full of action.
The story is about four friends who find their way in a mysterious world, ‘Zarox’.
The story shows the progression of the four children as they go on a quest to save Zarox, finding friends along the way.
I loved how each character had such a unique personality, they were so easy to connect and empathise with. Parker, the leader of the group, and main character, Lucy the sassy intelligent strong female influence, Riley, the tough guy and Callum.
Despite the fact that this book may be targeted towards a younger demographic i thoroughly enjoyed it and think you would too! I would definitely recommend it if you are a fan of Narnia and enjoy books that allow you to escape into a completely different world!

It has a strong sense of family in it with a journey to maturity! I loved the fact that it explained how friendship can help you get through anything as long as you have people that care about you! I also adored the way it was written, I swear I read like 50 pages without realizing! I really recommend it!

Unfortunately this book took longer to read than I would have liked although this was nothing to do with the storyline or the writers style.
The Characters and story was very well written for the age range it was aimed for and was very captivating, exciting and funny to read. The Story was always being pushed forward so it kept you wanting to read on to see what was going to happen.
The characters were relatable in both action and personality of the younger reader.

Overall this book is definitely worth a read for the younger readers out there looking for a good funny sci-fi book.

*** Zarox was given to me by the author in return for an honest review ***

This book follows the adventures of a group of four friends, Parker, Riley, Lucy and Callum, as they stumble into the mystical world of Zarox; a place full of magical creatures and danger around every corner! The future of Zarox rests in the hands of the four children as they battle their way through the world to ensure the freedom of all who reside there.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Zarox, despite the fact that it is aimed at a younger (middle-school level) audience. I found the writing style easy to read which allowed me to quickly get back into reading it each time.

The group dynamic of the friends is so fun and they're all very supportive of each other, despite their competitive nature, which was really nice to read! I found this book to be very descriptive which allowed me to feel fully immersed in the world of Zarox and get a good idea of what the characters looked like.

Each character is very well written and I started to feel emotionally attached to them all, worrying about what may happen to them in such a dangerous new world. Every chapter was full of twists and turns, and there were some really cool concepts which I thought were really unique and kept me hooked in the story!

I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait for the next one!

I'd recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy-adventure books with strong lead characters, and is perfect for parent/children shared reading.

As Zarox is aimed at younger readers, there are sections which have been explained for the clarity of younger children which may be frustrating to young adults+ who can piece together the explanation themselves, however I didn't personally find the book to be that patronising or too over the top with that sort of thing.

Our Tale begins with four friends at school deciding to daringly meet up at the creepy Churn Zone in the middle of the night. When they return to the school to meet at the designated spot something unthinkable happens and the children suddenly find themselves traveling through a magical cap, having been captured by creatures called Glothers, to the world of Zarox. Once in Zarox they meet a cheeky Trollop named Rotlier and a wise Wizard named Lupar who informs the group of friends that they have been chosen to save Zarox...
.
This was a magical and unique read about friendship, determination, discovering magic, and saving the world! It was a story, in my opinion, reminiscent of Narnia, Eragon, and Harry Potter. Each character had distinct personalities and dealt with things in their own special way. The world building and descriptions were very detailed so you could easily picture things, which I think is a great characteristic in a middle grade book. That being said the fact that it is a middle grade book shouldnt deter anyone from picking up this little gem! I being an adult really enjoyed this read and I know kids will love it too.

I give Zarox 4.5 stars

I recommend Zarox for any young kids that are looking for a fun and fantastical journey! I have read a lot of fantasy and Zarox was extremely creative. While keeping in line with many fantasy stories out there (a group of kids find themselves in another world and need to work together to achieve their goals), the plot was unlike any other books I've read. Zarox had the feel of The Chronicles of Narnia and Harry Potter.

I had a few minor issues with the book. There some parts in which I felt the pacing was a little off: some parts felt a little slow, while others felt rushed. It took me a few chapters to connect with the story.

Overall, I think that this is a book that many would enjoy.
