Lisa Henry's dark stories are actually fairly dark, meaning it's not the fluff with fangs stuff I also enjoy.
Give Me Your Heart was violent, yet pretty. The prose was trying too hard at the beginning, but the tone settled soon enough and the flow improved.
The story was just enough, it didn't get the chance to become boring, and enough glimpses were shown of the world to get a vague idea of the setting, but that setting was mostly used to build the atmosphere.
Still, there wasn't that certain something, though it did come close.
For some reason I kept picturing this as a manga or a graphic novel. That would be such a cool adaptation.
