Soon Mia plunges into a sensual relationship that ignites dreams of forever, until KJ returns to the court…and the headlines. Will the glare of celebrity blind them to the family that could be theirs by Christmas?
"Most enjoyable" from the beginning to the end! Keylan Kingsley was definitely an unexpected gift for Mia who thought she could fight off his good looks and genuine personality! From the start she misjudged him because he was rich and good looking, only to learn that he only had eyes for her and her son Colby! What an excellent read and wonderful love story!
I enjoyed this holiday story especially the special little boy but I never really bought into the romance. Seasonal relationships do have a time constraint but there has hardly any build in this one. I also wasn't comfortable with the conflict near the end. NBA star Keylan must do some community service and single mom Mia is the manager at the center where he will work.
I enjoyed reading Keylan and Mia's story very much. I love the cover. This story was very sweet and captivating, and I loved how caring Keylan was about Colby all in all. I really enjoyed it and would recommend reading this book. I am definitely going to read the rest of the books about the Kingsleys of Texas. Great job, Ms Kennerson.
Excellent read, good storyline and characters. Keylan and Mia are a good match, add Colby and you have a loving family. I recommend this simple but sweet romance.
Very enjoyable. Mia had to learn that Keylan was the real deal. Keylan helped her learn that even with a disability she needed to stop smothering her son and give him his independence.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Mila, Keylan and Colby makes a great family. Facing the various obstacles strengthened their relationship and love for one another.
I read this book a while back and decided to read it again during a reading challenge. I still love this book. Every woman should have a Keylan in their life.
Received as an arc I really enjoyed this book, Love Colby as a character and did not feel wrongly described with his needs. The first book by author and cannot wait to read more. Now I do wish the ending would have been better it felt kind of rushed and incomplete, possibly needs a sequel. Received as arc from the Publisher through NetGalley
Thanks to HQN Kimani for a copy of this book in order to review it!
I wanted something holiday themed to get me in the mood for writing my own book and the story of Mia and KJ were enough to do the trick. I fell IN. LOVE. with Colby, even though I am not a huge fan of children as plot devices. I loved the arc of Mia from hurt and embittered single mom who doesn't even decorate for Christmas to someone who could open her heart to find love again.
Will definitely put you into the Christmas spirit.
Mia Ramirez is focused on her career and being a single mother to her son Colby. There is little room in her life and heart for anyone else. When NBA superstar, Keylan “KJ” Kingsley returns home to run the Kinglsey foundation, her world gets turned upside down. KJ manages to worm his way into not only her heart but her son’s.
KJ is trying to smooth out all of the kinks in his life. Doing community service at the foundation is a piece of cake. Trying to win over Mia is an entire story. Colby manages to help bring them together and KJ realizes he wants a family more than ever.
I am pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed An Unexpected Holiday Gift. This is my first book by the author and I am excited to read more by her. This book is the soft compromise of holiday spirit and realism that will appeal to people who don’t like over the top hokey holiday stories.
Mia has her heart broken plenty of times during the holiday season so she it is great that KJ helped warmed up her to the holidays. The only problem I had with the story is that Mia kept this constant wall up that interfere with her getting to know KJ. The constant tug of war became a bit tiring.
The family dynamic is strong. I low-key love Victoria, the matriarch, and her bossiness. I am interested in reading more about this family. Colby adds a specialness and thoughtfulness to the story. I really appreciated the author’s ability to use his special needs in a caring way.
Overall, if you are looking to get into the holiday spirit, then An Unexpected Holiday Gift is the perfect way to start.
