Being on loan to the FBI has its advantages, and for the first time in far too long, Mark is taking a few weeks off with his family. But he's barely gotten started when he finds his brother unwittingly entangled in a mess that can be traced directly back to an attempt on Mark's life some months ago. An attempt that left something unexpected behind. And now that one loose end has started to fray into many and Mark must hurry to tie them all up, before unscrupulous drug dealers, power hungry witches, and even unwitting competitors of his brother's biotech company, unleash a power that could destroy hundreds, if not thousands of innocent lives.

I've had a very varied life. I grew up in New York, on Long Island.
I went to school to become an Engineer, then joined the Air Force.
After that I worked first in Robotics, then in Aerospace as a Flight Test Engineer. I moved into the medical fields, then into more Technical markets working for a number of high tech companies where I became a Contractor.
I used to own and raise big cats. I love motorcycles and old cars. I'm a pilot and former martial arts instructor. I'm a fan of the Reno Air Races.
Then there's the stuff I'm not supposed to talk about, but that's another story.
I've seen a lot of interesting stuff go by, met a lot of interesting, wonderful, strange, or sometimes just psychotic people. I've had the opportunity to work on some truly game changing technologies. And while I've had some very bad things happen to me in my life, I've never let it stop me.
Keep smiling.
-John

Good action story which I enjoyed reading. I feel it is not as good as the previous parts, mostly because the ending felt a bit disjointed Nice tension building towards facing big bad monster and then we have a few chapters on what is basically cleanup with nothing supernatural. John Van Stry could have done more with the angle of scientists and the supernatural. I also wonder a bit how this could happen in the first place (top secret stuff, but leave the cleanup to a normal company?), but lets stick that to people having been distracted at the time.

We do get to see a bit more of the family, and I like it when the protagonist is a family man with living parents and siblings who still speak with one another. Of course, you should not pay too much attention to how the supernatural is kept secret with things like this happening, but that is a common problem in urban fantasy and not overly important in an action orientated novel.

All in all, I found it an entertaining read.

Another interesting and enjoyable book

I enjoyed the fact that this book involved Mark’s family more, as they seemed more interesting than more random devil hunting. The storyline was tight chasing down parts of a demon to stop bad outcomes, even if it did seem a bit Rambo at the end. A fun read.

I liked this series plenty of movement in there and despite the fact its often good to be left with the impression of the guy getting his just deserts theres plenty of scope for future stories (which I wouldn't mind reading)

Family matters

The cast and family grows in this this installment. Lots of action and a couple of story lines that tale weres, family, fbi, witches, drug dealers and more. While a bit more conceited, a fun adventure.

the story keeps being interesting, I like that the story doesn't center on just 1 bad guy but several and how each plot gets a satisfying ending.

Rough ending

I am so very happy to be finished with this series. The entirety of the series made reading less fun. On to the next series and hopefully more enjoyment.

great book

This was a great book. We tied up some loose ends, went on an international caper, and left just enough room that there might be a book 4 years from now if the author gets the urge. I’d highly recommend starting with book 1

Good Stuff!

The latest in the series, this book tells even deeper and the characters and their stories. Well written and definitely well worth the money. The story is very good, the characters are interesting (and grow), and the action is ever present, even though the pacing is slower to better let us into the characters. If you've been following the series then this is a definite must-read. If you haven't been following the series, then you should give it a try. Definitely recommended!

Beware cliffhanger ending, but great none the less.

Even with a cliffhanger ending I cannot fault it. I don't think it's just a ploy to read the next one. Lots of action for new and old characters along with solid story arcs make it a five star read.

Good book, almost as good as the last two in series wasn't as exciting and a plot holes but still worth the money.

Another Good Story...

Although this book really needs some significant editing. Still, the story is quite good, and I can't wait for the next one to be published.

Hammer Commission

One more devilish mishap contained. I love this series, it has action and romance and best of all, werecreatures! I also enjoyed how the author rotated through Mark's wives, involving them through the series. Highly recommended books for modern fantasy books.
