Active Voice The Comic Collection: The Real Life Adventures Of An Asian-American, Lesbian, Feminist, Activist And Her Friends!
"Active Voice" started as a column written by P. Kristen Enos in the LGBT Orange County & Long Beach Blade Newsmagazine in 1994. It was an opportunity for her to share random serious and humorous stories as an Asian-American, Lesbian, Feminist Activist in ultra-conservative Orange County, California (nestled between Los Angeles and San Diego.) The stories in this collection are primarily from Enos's days in the UC Irvine Gay & Lesbian Student Union and her corporate world. Key events covered are the first LGBT pride event in Santa Ana in 1989 and the debut of the NAMES Project's AIDS Memorial Quilt in Irvine in 1990. Several of the anecdotes are from moments in the spirit of standing up for yourself and others.

In 1994, she began a column called "Active Voice" in the LGBT Blade California Magazine. The column focused on her real-life adventures as an out lesbian activist in ultra-conservative Orange County, California. After a period of burn-out, she returned to writing the column in 2011 in the magazine, where it still appears at the time of this write-up.
Otherwise, she spends her time doing a full time corporate job that pays her bills and volunteer work that doesn't, which includes being a professional event photographer. She also wrote an epic & canon fanfiction series "Bubblegum Crisis Post 2040" based on the Japanese anime series Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040.
For about five years, she created and managed the website "This Lesbian's Guide to Anime and Manga". She now expanded her reviews to western material as time allows, which unfortunately is the constant challenge.
Though a self-professed Southern California girl in her heart and soul, she moved to Las Vegas in 2011, where she stays when she's not out having adventures and causing trouble.

I read this for my "history" square on SPL's book bingo. It was really interesting to read about an Asian American immigrant lesbian going to college in a conservative southern California during the 90s. I bet we would have been friends.
