Leda Cox enjoys country living in Heartwood, Virginia, and considers herself an old poet soul living in a small town. When her best friend asks for help reconnecting with the love of his life, Leda must push aside dreams of opening a bakery and focus on the task at hand. Helping August win his true love. After all, her Papa always says that family sticks together. There's only one problem. August's true love is engaged. Now Leda will need her wherewithal to handle her inner romantic around Duncan Whitaker, a smooth-talking insurance salesman with a heart of gold. The more time she spends in his company, the more she can see herself falling for him. In more ways than one. However, when August's secret comes to light and the negative backlash from the town threatens Leda's dreams of the future, she'll have to decide where to draw the line, and whether to trust her head, or her heart. Will her strong sense of familial duty cut off her budding romance with Duncan? Or is there a real chance for her to have her cake and eat it, too?
Thanks for visiting my profile! I'm a new Contemporary (small-town) and Paranormal Romance author who loves writing about flawed heroines and the heroes who love them. I've been writing since I was in third grade, and love to read about anything with a little romance and a lot of magic!
Although my TBR list is long, there are a few awesome books on there that deserve a third, fourth even fifth read through! Those are the stories that never get old.
I'd love it if you'd add my books to your TBR shelf and give this author a try! If you want to find out more about me, click over to my website: http://www.breaviragh.com
This is a slow progressing love story between two couples. I found the all of characters irritating and lame. Until the end of the book I only had sympathy for Duncan, but then he lost my sympathy as well. I didn't like August or Isabelle at all. Leda was weak. And Duncan, he was acting like a player. I just didn't find the story enjoyable or entertaining. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest opinion of it.
This was truly amazing.. it was heartwhelming.. sweet.. and so many fun things going on. I laughed a lot.. i sighed.. i felt things.. it was wonderful. I loved it and im so glad i got to review it
Leda's friend, August asked her to help him. He needs to convince his best friend , Isabel, that she is making a mistake in marrying Duncan. He needs to tell her that he has been in love with her since they were children. When Leda sees their chemistry with her own eyes she agrees to occupy Duncan while August spends time with Isabel. Little did she know that she would enjoy Duncan's company way too much. She ends up losing her heart to this warm, thoughtful man as well as losing her reputation and in turn her income and future dream.
It was so hard to get into. Seemed very confusing to follow. The similes that were used broke up the flow of the story. It was difficult for me to visualize. However, once I invested myself into the story the similes were somewhat refreshing.
By the end of the book I was glad I stuck it out and now am looking forward to the next book.
Even though family is blood and friendship is thicker than water. Don't make I owe yous that will ruin your life.
August wants his childhood love Isabel to his true love. Only problem is she is engaged to be married in a couple months to a handsome man named Duncan. August decides to enlist his friend Leda to help. Leda doesn't want to help with his plan. But with August, he is almost like a brother she never had and she owes him a favor. He's cashing it in and will not take no for an answer. But when the heat hits the fan, who's left standing happy and who will be unhappy in the end?
OK first off just because you are my bud, bestie, do or die for you no blood but stronger than blood bond, doesn't mean all of your ideas are good ones. In this case when a pledge to help a best friend goes wrong EVERYONE gets the fall out especially Leda. There is plenty of blame to shift but this wonderful cast of characters provide us with an awesome and quite enjoyable read. You will laugh and yes get all up in your emotions as you enjoy this read. I am soooo glad I had the chance.
