Quickly on the rise in his firm, ambitious attorney Chad Hampton is forced to challenge his historical knowledge and religious beliefs when a WWII veteran stands in the way of his professional pursuits. In the final stages of a land development project in a small North Carolina town, Chad must tackle his final contract with William Lohman, an aging war hero with a dark secret and a deep grudge, neither of which he is giving up easily. When it becomes clear that neither Chad nor William are going to concede to one another, the two form an unlikely bond and a troubled William finds himself choosing to share his secrets that could leave himself, Chad and anyone in the path in danger.
The first few chapters were a little slow for me but after it picked up I was very into the book and even towards the end teared up. I didn't want to put it down and am definitely interested to know what happens next with Chad Hampton. Goodreads win review, thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this book!
This is a Goodreads win review. This is a book about Chad Hampton and he wants to build something but he has opposition from a war hero that does not want it built. I will not give away the end.
