Christmas looks dismal this year for Feechi Anoduro, until she meets Carsten Raimes at an auction. The wealthy businessman asks for her help with an event he's planning, but Feechi has reservations, because the last time a man asked for her help, she wound up disillusioned and pregnant. She has no time to waste on a man who's clearly out of her league, especially when she has immediate problems that need solving—a fifteen-year-old clunker that needs to go on a scrap heap and the dog her son has fallen in love with that they cannot afford to keep.
Carsten enjoys a challenge any day of the week, and when he discovers Feechi, he decides she'd be a good addition to his team. But Feechi has other ideas and is hard to convince. Seducing her with a job offer doesn't work, so Carsten gets personal, but Feechi isn't sold on anything he has to give. As he alternates between work and play to get her attention, Carsten's attitude changes and suddenly he can't bear to be without this special woman, who makes him want things he never considered important before she came into his world.

A great Christmas story about Feechi and Carsten, Feechi is an independent single mother who has a industrious and smart 7 year old. Carsten is an Alpha businessman. He sees what he wants, goes after it and does not take no for an answer. Carsten notices the beautiful woman and her skills as administrator. He goes after her and does not take her no. Feechi is guarded in her heart because of her past. Carsten finds out he needs her on many levels. Can he make her see she needs him for more? Touching and moving story that keeps you smiling..Max nearly stole the show in this book..
First time reading this author and looking forward to more. This was a very sweet holiday romance. If you love a good clean romance (no sex), this is the perfect story. Hope there is a story in the future on Dee and Ian.
Carsten is immediately drawn to Feechi when he meets her at an auction she is working. Feechi begins to list all the reasons she shouldn't take a chance on a relationship with Carsten.
Feechi has some unresolved issues from pass relationships and no positive relationship examples. Carsten is determined to love her through any apprehensions she conjures, not even having a small child will deter him. He knows love and identifies it in her.
I enjoyed the characters in this book. The author is really detailed in her writing. It was a great love story to read with all the sadness going on in the world. A teen could even read it because there was not profane language or sex before Marriage. I loved the illustration of how a man can truly love a woman.
I thoroughly enjoyed Feechi, Carsten, Jack, Max and Dee! Carsten worked on Feechi's wavering thoughts and was able to help bring her around! A great read, J.L.! 💜
This was an okay book but Feechi was overthinking her involvement/relationship with Carsten and cared too much what others thought about her. I'm glad that she wised up and didn't let Carsten slip away.
I expected more from this book. It dragged and didn't have a very strong story line. I had to force myself to finish it. Carstand and See were the best characters.
A lovely story, Feechi is a single mum to a lovely young boy and lives with her sister. She works full time and some evenings helping out at auctions. She is head-hunted by an entrepreneur and decides to take his offer of a job. It will mean more money to enable her to build a better life for her and her son.
The complications set in when, Carsten, her new employer, sets his cap at her. He realises that she is reticent to enter in to a relationship but once he has set his mind on something he goes for it.
We follow Feechi’s thoughts and feelings along with Carsten’s as they enter in to an employer/employee relationship alongside a friendship that may mature in to a loving relationship or at least that is Carsten’s hope when Feechi is ready.
Add into the mix the young boy, a mischievous dog Feechi and her son are fostering for a short while until the owner decided whether she is returning to the island or not and you have a story that takes shape nicely. Feechi and Carsten both have some misgivings about a committed relationship, Feechi because of her own mother bringing herself and her sister up as a single mum and also Feechi’s own disastrous love affair which led to her son.
A well written story, with characters who have depth, feelings and emotions are explored and explained, minor characters have life as well and even the dog has an important role to play in this contemporary short novel.
I choose this rating because I always enjoy the writings of JLCampbell. I am hooked on her books as they weave tales of unfettered love or feisty heroine's unintentionally mixed up with the wrong people. I would recommend her books to anyone wanting to be submerged into a great book which always teaches a little about the beautiful island of Jamaica and it's rich culture. I always get less sleep when I start reading one of her books - they are hard to pit down. Kudos JL Campbell, very talented indeed.
JL delivered a fun holiday treat with this story. I liked Carsten and his steely determination to have Feechi in his life. Jack was a sweet boy with lots of mischievous ways. Mad Max the dog , was cute as a button. I liked the flow and feel of the story. A very sweet treat for the holiday season.
Beautiful love story. Carsten and Feechi are perfect for each other, if he can tear down her walls. Throw in Jacks curiosity and Max's doggie antics they are in for a fun family adventure. After reading you will also be sold on love.
The book could have moved along faster and some things were drawn out unnecessarily. Will give next book by author another try because the plot was interesting.
Feechi has let the past dictate her life. Will Carsten be able to change her thinking? Heartwarming story about a mother raising a young son who loves a dog named Max.
