Del Bellator’s simple life of treasure hunting and demon slaying ended the moment she learned she was a Guardian between the Underworld and Earth. The only problem? She has no idea what that means and no control over the magic that could help her. Sure, she can turn into a Phantom and walk through walls, but in a world where demons can throw fireballs or strike her down with lightning, she needs control of some bigger magical weapons.

To make matters worse, demons are now drawn to her like flies to honey. She’s a walking, talking demon magnet. To save her own life, she must master her powers. That means embarking on a treasure hunt unlike any she’s ever conducted. Fortunately, she has the help of Were-demon and Warden of the Underworld, Roarke Fallon, along with her FireSoul sisters, Cass and Nix. As the clock ticks down, she can only hope it will be enough.

Demon Magic features kick butt heroines, a powerful hero, and otherworldly adventure.

Recommend audible version: Yes.

Story Review:
This is not a standalone series. You will need to start at book one because each book is picking up right where the last one stopped.

In book two, we still have a lot going on despite killing the demon in book one. Now that Del has stolen the demons powers, she is like a beacon for other demons and she needs to learn how to control it.

Roarke still struggles with doing the right thing and dealing with his feelings for Del. As they search for answers on how to control the demon powers, more questions open up to what Del is and what her powers are.

This is a very slow burn love story in the midst of an action packed paranormal story. The author is doing a great job of keeping me pulled into the story and I'm loving Roarke and Del even though it's taking forever for these two act on their feelings. On to book 3...

Four and a half from me
So once upon a time Cass, Del and Nix were prisoners of a monster! Somehow they escaped him but with no memories of who they are or even where they came from. Fast forward and the girls are women but not ordinary like you or I but powerful FireSouls with the dangerous ability to steal the powers of those they kill. Cass may have found love but Del has discovered something more insidious , the ability to seemingly cheat death! Now she's shadowed by Roarke, Warden of the Underworld as more and more demons start showing up and it's vital that Del somehow gets a handle on her long forgotten powers.
I'm really enjoying these books and have to admit that the burgeoning relationship between Del and the somewhat closed off Roarke works really well. Why? Well frankly they just feel more adult and Roarke comes across as too hubba hubba for mere words! Yep much as I enjoyed seeing Cass learn to trust Aiden I have to admit that right from the outset this couple steamed up the page with what's clearly a smouldering passion between them. Oh Roarke might try to keep his distance but the tension between them is palpable but it's the secrets they both hide that keeps them on their toes and clearly at arms length !
Del as a lead character shines. She has a sense of fun that just works but it's her quirks that set her apart. With her dragonlike soul it's easy to understand her leanings but the abilities the author imbues her with here were a total surprise. This all added greatly to the adventure as Del and Roarke took in all manner of challenges. As usual it's the attention to historical detail that elevates these stories and this time we travel from a Klondike gold rush steamboat to Cambridge in England and even as far as a slate mine in Wales! Expect creatures of legend but most of all expect a rollicking adventure that keeps you entertained until the last page!

Del has secured her freedom from the underworld, and stopped the poison that was turning her into an ubilaz demon; but her problems are only just starting.

I received a free copy in return for an honest review.
I enjoyed this second adventure following Del. The first Seeker book concentrated on her getting free from the underworld, whilst coming to terms with her growing attachment to the handsome warden, Roarke. Now, she has to save herself before her new powers overwhelm her and her friends; and in doing so starts to chip away at the mystery that is her past.

The demon-magnet thing was a cool twist, that really helped to add pressure to the treasure hunt, and gave the constant demon attacks that happen in the Dragon Gift series a fresh approach.

As fragments of Del's past start to come through, there are hints that her family life wasn't quite as caring and nurturing as Cass'. And the more that is discovered, the more questions arise. About what she is capable of, what is blocking her; and ultimately what would happen if she died again?

I really enjoyed the expanding of the world we know so far, visiting Cambridge etc. Finding more supernaturals that might not spurn the sisters for their powers.

The Seeker books aren't as carefree and fun as the initial Huntress books, but I guess that's more fitting with Del and her death-related powers. I still didn't feel that Del and Roarke were very distinct from Cass and Aidan, but it was an entertaining adventure all the same.

Speaking of the sisters, definitely Nix's turn next?
That made me chuckle when Nix pretty much stated the same thing in the story. She deserves a rich, good-looking romantic interest, and to find out her past.
I do worry that it'll be along the same lines as Del and Cass' books. You know what I'd really like - it would be awesome to break the mould with making Nix's significant other to be another woman, it would definitely give this series some fresh, new ground to cover. Just a thought.

Anyways, I'm still enjoying this series, and look forward to the next book!

***4 ‘Knock on Wood’ Stars***

And were are off and running on another quest with Del, Roarke, her deifiur and Aiden as Del works to unlock the mystery of what her life was like before she was taken by The Monster, figure out how to manage her magic and deal with with the mixed signals her new partner in crime, Aiden, is throwing her way with the same frequency as those pesky demons who keep popping up all over the place.

As much as I enjoyed Cass’s journey in Dragon’s Gift: The Huntress, I’m finding that Del’s story is slowly edging past Cass’s. Part of it has to do with The Huntress series having that real feel of a first in series book where there is a lot of information dumping about how the world works and in this series things are much more settled, this isn’t to say that the world building has ended, not by a long shot, but it doesn’t feel as frantic. The other part is I’m really liking Del’s character. There are a lot of similar personality traits between her and Cass, but there is that “thing” that just works for me when it comes to her. As far as the story arc is going, even though there are still a lot of unanswered questions about Del’s past, her evolving magical talents, and what the whole Guardian thing really entails, there have been enough teases and some out right answers to hold my attention and keep me wanting more I’m enjoying how Del and Roarke’s relationship is growing and I’m actually quite curious to see if the sins of Roarke’s past will come into play. He may walk the straight and narrow, but he’s strayed from it in the past and I’m wondering if there a few things lingering around that will come out of the woodwork.

All in all, Demon Magic is a great addition to the series. Things are moving forward, though there are times I wish they would move a little faster, but I’m liking where everything is going and can’t wait to see what’s coming up next. And getting to hang out with the crazy cast of characters we’ve met along the way is always a good time!

If you are looking for an action and adventure packed urban fantasy with some magic thrown in that I would highly recommend this book to you.

This book is full of magic, family love, and trust building which is always refreshing to see, because you don't see many people trust others in the real world. I also love the fact that this story is adventurous because it makes the book so hard to put down because I can't help needing to know what could happen next.

Dell is an amazing character strong and willing to fight for her family no matter what, even if it means she has to put her life in danger. This book has a strong sense of family love and also shows Dell growing into her powers and learning how to control them better. In the process of all of this she is learning to trust someone new, and being that she is a firesoul it can be tough learning to trust, because firesouls are one of the most feared and hated paranormal beings alive; some call them abominations because they were born with a dragon's soul and have the ability to steal other beings powers at will.

Not only must Dell learn to trust someone new but she also believes she is falling for him which makes things even more complicated when she is fighting to control a demon power she accidentally stole; one power that if she doesn't learn to control it can end up in some serious chaos and death to many people.

This book does have some mild violence but nothing too serious. I would recommend this book to readers looking to read a young adult book.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader's copy of this book.

Loving this series so far! Love the demon fights and all the action! The magic usage is awesome too! I like the character development in this book, and I enjoy the mystery of Del's past unfolding. The romance between Del and Roarke has some kinks they need to work out, but the connection between them is wonderful. It's also great to learn more about Roarke. The Underworld stuff is fun, and I love all of the adventures! Unique, Entertaining and fun!

Started out like the book before. However, the author built on the story and gave us more background as she developed the characters. Definitely right and wrong based: Choose what is right! All in all loved it!

Secrets told

Finding out Del has been cursed and must go on a quest for a talisman was fun. I love quests and adventures. My favorite part was when Del and Roarke finally told each other their secrets and finally made a solid connection.

this book was filled to the brim with adventures and thrilling quests and i really love it. the only downside was the anticlimactic ending and the unclear plot. yes, the quest was fun, but i couldn't help but felt like it was pointless and without any clear goal. i understand that this story was part of a whole but it felt blurry. and some of the events, details, and conflicts were so similar with the previous series, making it felt rather unoriginal. but it was fun and definitely better than the previous series.

Recap:

Del was practicing her new power with roarke on the shore of lake labarge. her task was to make the ship-wreck that happened in 1902 happened again. she managed to recall it but not banishing it, then four demons came. they easily offed them but one of them, an ice demon said to Del that they were attracted to her. Then Del killed it by pulling its soul but somehow, she also stole its power so now she got ice magic. then they returned back to ancient magic.

Del and roarke met with cass and nix on P&P about what happened. again, del attracted three demons, roarke and claire swiftly dismissed then but an enforcer from the order of magica with sensor power came to give Claire a job. he said that he sensed the ubilaz demon died but not its power and told claire to find it. now del really needed to control her power if she didn't want to be found out by the enforcer. roarke suggested them to go to Cambridge (it secretly had a department to learn a hard magic) but it was very secretive so they needed to sneaked in and cass and nix couldn't come.

they arrived in a pub next to cambridge, straight into a bar fight, but roarke easily stopped it with his commanding voice (HA). but there was a demon there and it trailed them. it said del was a power thief and attacked her, but roarke snapped its neck. then, they sneaked inside the college and del used her dragon sense to find the dude named Horatio who was a mind mage that could control people's self-control.

following Del's dragon sense, they rode on a boat to cross a river when they were chased by 8 demons and the securities came too. they were captured and jailed (this series loved to jail their characters and gave easy escapes). del couldn't use her phantom power neither roarke could turned into demon. del said she wished pondflower the hellhound was here and voila, she came. the dog lend del her power and she could transformed into phantom, and the dog transformed too! so pondflower was a conduit.

they easily escaped and found horatio. he said that she was cursed so she couldn't control her magic (except the lower level one and her natural magic). but he said that he expects her visit and there was a seer who wanted to meet her. they met with the seer named Cassandra and she gave del a map in unknown language that would lead to some answers and said that she was born with a talent to read it. then she got a call from their jailer and they immediately ran away.

they popped out in Roarke's house because it was demon-repellent. they kissed but roarke immediately pulled away. del tried to read the map but she fainted. next morning, demons already gathered, dozens of them. roarke forbid her from helping in case she stole another power. but he was attacked by so many demons and she just had to help so she threw ice spikes to the demons and it worked.

then they went to ancient magic to meet her sisters, but the enforcer from the Order came and accused her for the surge of demonic power, proven more by the lucky charm she left in cambridge when she was captured. roarke knocked him out and they decided to erase his memory by taking him to the blood mages. they easily erased his memory but only for half of the day (or he'd be unable to function) and Del asked for their help to retrieve her memory that allow her to read the map.

they took lots of her blood and she was bleeding out while trying to focus on reading the scroll and she fainted. she woke up on her own house with roarke by her side. they fought because del felt he was distancing himself from her while he thought she had a lot of secrets she was unwilling to share. then he kissed her. intense. then she met with her sisters, talked about their situation (they said del should just told roarke what they were), told them that her parents didn't want her and was cruel towards her, and turned out she could read the map now and it was something in welsh. she told them to stay while she and roarke went.

she returned to her room, told roarked she promised to tell him her secret and set out to Cwm Y Ddraig (going to call it cyd because no way i'm memorizing that) in search for answer. they were searching for something called Eastern Railway in a very small supernatural town. a lady said that it was somewhere near/on the mountain near the lake oh-so-deep so they went there. there was no boat and it was impossible to fly over so del conjured a boat from the past. on the way over, they were attacked by water monster and del was dragged underwater. she fought it and speared it with an ice spear, then using her magic, she somehow dragged herself, and the boat, out of the water (?!!!). Roarke was fighting 3 of the monster but he offed them easily but they lost the paddles.

suddenly, the lady of the lame called Morgen came. she thanked them for getting rid of the water monsters so she dried them up (i think she dried the map too...) and sent them to the shore with a warning of the evil mining goblin (called Coblynau) who had a touch that kill and multiply if killed. and they had to stay on the mining track but of course they didn't, because the goblins distracted them. they caused an avalanche and they were trap in a blasting house (a house to hide when they blasted the mine). the rocks blocked their escape route so roarke blasted through the roof with his demon form but it harmed him so badly. but they pushed running until they arrived to a cave, del blocked the entrance with the ice and they explored the cave.

they arrived to a lake and in the middle of it, del saw an orbs. she took off her clothes and took it, put them on a pedestal around there (there was 4 pedestals but only 3 orbs). the orbs shattered and turned into phantom dragons. they said the last one was Draka but they didn't know where she was. they said that the Shadows was the one who cursed her and one they she would face them but her curse already weakening. they gave her a hilt to a sword that could focus her power but she needed to find the blade herself and it'd turn into an OP phantom blade that would always return to her. they also told her that she was kind of immortal (roarke too) they could cross the boundary from the Underworld.

before del asked about her parents, the coblynau came. they were supposed to be the phantom dragon's protector but because del killed one of them, they were after her blood. the phantom dragon took them out and placed them in one of the cart and Del turned brought the past back to live to activate it and the dragon nudged them. it was a crazy roller coaster ride straight out from history. sounded epic. when they arrived to the shore of the lake, they asked for morgen/morwena's help to transport them to the other side in exchange for a debt.

roarke asked one of his demon stuff to arrange a place to stay the night and when they had settled in, he finally told del his secret. turned out, his brother was abusing blood magic and killed half a dozen people for a ritual, and he didn't turn him in because he was too blinded by his love. then they rested so they could find the blade the next day with del's sisters and aidan.

using her dragon sense to find the blade, it told her to go to the Underworld through the portal near Roarke's house. her sisters and aidan wanted to come but they wouldn't be able to come in or out without roarke's assistance but they came anyway so they teleported to roarke's house then to the underworld.

they journeyed through roarke's underworld, then to icy underworld, jungle-like underworld, attacked by many demons, then to a tower from del's childhood but the demons followed them. del was thorn between finding the sword and her family or helping her friends but she was attacked by the shadow that cursed her but pondflower was there and suddenly, the blade too! and the shadow ran away when her sword touched it. she returned to help her friend to kill all the demons and she was able to control her power now and it's over (fckin anticlimactic and too convenient. there were so many different kind of demons but no one got another poisoning or dire injuries, or none of the higher level demon came, the heck?)

they rested and claire gave her boss some dagger and said that the ubilaz's power was destroyed. also, the boss didn't recognize her so del was off the hook again. she told her friends what happened in the tower. if she went down the stairs, she might find draka or her family but it was definitely a trap and she would face the shadow again soon.

Awesome 5 star contemporary paranormal adventurous book with a bit of romance. The Seeker books should be read in order so you understand the main story line. Del is one of 3 girls that are Firesouls, they consider themselves sisters. Del has a specific task and journey but has no idea what it is. A seer said she was a Guardian but what that entails she doesn't know. Roarke is the head of the Underworld (hell). Neither he or Del are sure if they can trust one another but they need each other's powers. There is intrigue, suspense, demons, fanrasy, and a bit of romance between Roarke and Del. I found that I kept cheering Del and her friends on. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series and future books by this author.

I think I have a mental block on this series, I have them in my Kindle and I think "that is going to be kinda boring" and I have no idea where that comes from since I have loved each one of these books and this one was no exception.

Short version: Roarke and Del make a great couple now that he has thawed out a bit. The action is almost non-stop and the romance thaws along with Roarke.

The only problem I had with this book is that we have a quest of sorts in this story and along the way she had to skip over something she wanted and I must have missed the memo that said she could not go back. So with no explanation and not even an attempt (assuming it is being saved for book 3 of this spin-off series) I had to make this 4 Stars but it was great reading, great action and I can't wait for the next one.

Demon Magic by Linsey Hall
Dragon’s Gift: The Seeker #2

In which Del seeks to gain more control of her magic, goes on a quest, nearly dies, meets mythical creatures, makes decisions, gets closer to Rourke, receives a special sword hilt, is helped by Pond Flower, and gains new skills – great read – great addition to the series – can’t wait to find out what happens next.

Thank you to the author for the ARC. This is my honest review.

Del and Roarke make a kick butt team in this second book of The Seeker Series. Together they are stronger. Secrets are revealed and mysteries unfold only to add more on top of it. I love getting to know each sister separately as well as a team and the men that have entered their life thus far. Linsey Hall grabs your attention and holds on tight, keeping you wanting for more.

I love the fight scenes in this series. There’s plenty of sword-swinging and magic-flinging. Del’s weird abilities related to death are causing her to absorb odd powers from demons she kills, but she can’t keep them under control. That plus Roarke’s ability to fly when he shape-shifts into his demon form add an extra level to the action.

The romance is the most formulaic part of the book; for example, the male love interests are uniformly handsome, wealthy, and powerful. Nix even comments that now that Cass and Del seem to have found their honeys it should be her turn next (which it will, of course). On the other hand, many readers don’t mind formulaic when it comes to romance, so that probably won’t bother a lot of people. Roarke and Del do have some chemistry to enjoy. Naturally Roarke has grown a little more distant recently and Del has to figure out where they really stand. After all, trust comes hard to her.

The women in this story definitely kick ass, and one thing I do love about the romances is that the men respect their women. They’re allowed to be protective without stepping on the women’s agency or ability to do their own fighting. With everything going on right now, simple respect in a relationship has become a romantic thing in its own right. (Men, take note!)

This is a good installment in the ongoing series. I enjoyed the quests and adventures, and the look we’re getting at the Underworlds is interesting. I’m looking forward to finding out more about Del’s unusual nature!

Second book in the Seeker series. As I stated in my review of the first Seeker book, the series is basically a carbon copy of the first one. So this is the bit, were the male love interest teaches our heroine how to use her powers, while giving her his tragic origin story to give a little depth to his character (it doesn't, just adds a bit of eye-rolling drama to their relationship) and then setting out to unveil more about the heroines past.

Overall rather amusing to read. Del turning back the wheels of time can be very interesting at times. And the hellhounds are back in force, we uncover more about the phantom dragons and the villain is revealed (though at this point this is as vague as the Monster, here it is the Shadows).

On a side note: Del has more than one core power. I did wonder, why they didn't even try to use the statues to get her transportation power back, they way they did with Cass' battery power (even if she did loose it through the FireSoul power). So as the series progresses, she is leveling up the same Cass did. The also included a partnering effect. While Cass could mirror Aidan's power, Del enhances Roarke's. But because of the curse Del has a hard time controlling her powers and therefore has to supplement her weaker seeking skills with research to actually find artifacts. So why is she called the Seeker, especially as in the first series it was always Cass that went looking for artifacts, while Del spend her time demon hunting and Nix guarded the shop?

Demon Magic by Linsey Hall.
5 out of 5 stars!
A great series about three young women that have banded together after waking up in a field one morning with no memory of who they are or how they came to be there. In time, they come to realise that they are a supernatural species called Firesouls. The problem with that is that Firesouls are automatically reported in to the Order of Magica, tried, and usually executed.
This is volume two of the series and centres around Del who has found out she is also half Phantom.
The second book shows her and her new found 'friend' Roarke, the warden of the underworld, trying to control the power that she has inadvertently stolen when she killed a Ubilaz demon. They draw other demons to them which is why they are strictly forbidden on Earth, but all of a sudden, Del has them raining down on her. Wherever she turns, there is another demon showing up, and they all want to kill her!
And now she's learnt that she has a block on her power. A very old enchantment that no one seems to be able to lift. There's a lot she has to contend with and is she enough to do it all by herself?
Another brilliant instalment of this series. I just can't wait for the next one! I'd recommend it to all interested in Magic, Demons, and Shifters of all kinds (not just your usual kind either)

Yea, this is an action packed urban fantasy with kick butt heroines!
But unfortunately a lot of things don't get explained.
This rating is more like 2.5 stars

Pros:
Butt kicking heronies
Urban fantasy with main female leads

Cons:
Lots of things unexplained
Robotic style characters

Roarke still seems to be a robot with unexpected emotions throughout - which yea, they make sense that it's confusing to the main character...but it just all seems out of place? Like the explanation for his feeling comes in one sentence (I'm not saying it should be half the book but these are really simple sentences) and Del then seems to understand. Everything comes together....oh...ugh

Del meets a ghost that helps her just a bit at the end that said he knows her, but she doesn't know him? And it never gets explained (even in the next book!). He was there just to have the story progress because god forbid something else that makes sense to progress it wouldn't do.
And she can take powers from other demons...but not using her Firesoul power? Then there's the fact that Aiden can heal people almost immediately so to move forward but it's not used? And instead of doing that the story stops and moves to Roarke's house for a nurse?

All in all, this story is all over. Nothing is explained when it comes to Del's relationship with Roarke, and her powers don't make sense and this book seemed just to be a weird filler.

I might just need a break from my the author. I have really enjoyed her series but this one I just can’t get into. It’s the same book as the previous series. Maybe not word for word but man there are so many similarities that it’s become monotonous. Here are just some of the HUGE similarities I’ve seen between this series and Cass’ (the series right before this)

Heroine: beyond belief power that she doesn’t know she has, new powers are being received and she has to learn to control them. Prophecy that she will save the world but has to master her powers before the big fight

The Hero: Uber powerful, one of a kind, swoon-worthy looks, shape shifter who is exceedingly rich

Evil Antagonist: don’t know much about this entity except they are out to get the heroine and are super powerful themselves. The Heroine is the only one that can defeat them

Romance: instant connection, like they were made for each other. Trust issues between them. Hero is constantly saving her life and giving comfort

It really is the same plot line. Yes the story itself is different but the big things are the same. I just don’t know if I want to finish the series because it’s just so similar it’s become boring.
So why the 3 stars and not lower. I cannot say enough how much I enjoy this world the author created. I also enjoy the characters (although with this one it’s a little less and the side characters are more interesting to me). Maybe a short break will let me see the books with new eyes.

"Demon Magic" is the second installment of the Dragon's Gift: Seeker series. This time Del is desperate to find a way to control her powers especially since she seems to be beckoning demons who wish to kill her. Roarke is by her side but is acting strangely. It is clear he is interested in Del; yet, he keeps her at arm's length. He goes so far as to break rules for her. She is so confused but she knows that when the time is right she will confront him.

As they travel from place to place seeking answers, Del and Roarke are captured by college security when they break into the hidden
place. Although they escape, this simple infraction puts them on the radar of the Magica ( a paranormal enforcement squad dead set on capturing and killing FireSouls).

I'm this read there is a self-defense of some of our previous characters like the demon hound, Pond Flower and the dragon, Draka. Will Del be able to control her powers and stop the demon boards that is continuously attacking her or will she go down in a blaze of glory? Once again I enjoyed this read especially the characters and action scenes. It also nice that the author reference historical places and data that I previously knew nothing about causing me to do research. It certainly will be interesting to see how Del handles the challenges in next read.

Good

Fresh out of hell, and relieved of the poison from the Ubilaz demon who attacked her, Del is struggling to control the new powers that she discovered on the way.
It comes as a surprise when she finds out that one of those powers is courtesy of the demon she killed- and she wasn’t even trying to take it!
Now she has to work with Roarke to find a way to control the demon power inside her, a task that isn’t easy, and involves a quest of its own.
Along the way, Del will learn a lot about herself, and even her past…

Book two continues Del’s portion of the story in the Dragon’s Gift world, revealing a little about her past, and making some progress in her slow-burn romance with Roarke (but not too much!).
There’s lots of action, adventure, and of course magic- and if you finish up with more questions than answers, then at least you enjoyed the journey as you racked them up!

A thoroughly entertaining urban fantasy, and an enjoyable addition to Del’s story.
Recommended for urban fantasy fans.

I just love the entire Dragon's Gift Series and it is continuing to please. As we get into Del's story we have already met the dashing and stoic Roarke. The ore she comes up against the harder it is to keep her secret. Trying to balance everything that is happening with her new powers, controlling them, finding answers to who and what she is and understanding it. So much to do in so little time. Will her quest hurt all those around her and what about that which is stopping her from remembering? Most importantly what the heck is a Guardian and what does it mean?

This author continues to give us a high energy read, great story line and introducing characters that fit right into the family. Awesome read can't wait for the next in the series still so many questions.

Loving me some Del and Roarke!

Oh every book is just getting better and better. The secret is finally revealed to Roarke so no more hiding what she is. Oh and then there is the hunt to find the blade of a mysterious sword that can help her control her magic and to help suppress the Ubilaz demon power that draws demons to Del like flies to honey. What she learned about her family and what was most important helped her find the blade and gain more control over her out of control life. But there is this shadow that put a curse on her causing a block in her brain to keep her from being able to control her magic. Well I'm pretty sure that shadow is going to cause some havoc so on to book three to see what happens next. Loving these books!

Darla's magic is all out of control and she is in all kinds of danger

No matter what Darla and Rourke do it seems like random demons followed them everywhere trying to attack. They go to Cambridge to try to speak to a professor and again our Chased by demons. They have to escape the university jail to find the professor and when they do he doesn't have answers but he knows who might. The map holds the key if they can only get to read it. It's going to take a memory spell on Darla to probe in her mind for the original ability to decipher the map. This procedure is highly dangerous. Where the map leads them, how to reach their goal alive and how to come back are all part of this suspenseful adventure.

Demon Magic is the second book in Linsey Hall's second Dragon's Gift: The Seeker series. Del's magic arsenal has begun to change. Connected to Death, she can bring the past back to life and pull the soul out of demons. But what she didn't expect is that when she pulls souls out of demons, she also gets their powers. The bad thing is that she needs to find out why her powers are not always corroborative. With the help of Roake, Del needs to get it together, or risk being chased by demons forever.
Overall, I enjoyed reading this book. It is a quick paced fast read that is filled with action and adventure.

I came back to this series after reading Nix's second book because I like Nix's story better.

After reading Nix, Del comes off as so immature. She does childish things (like knocking on her head) and comes off as juvenile with the way she acts and talks. I finished the second book, but I'm not sure if I'm going to read the third.

There's nothing wrong with the plot or writing, (besides the author sometimes going from past tense to present tense without seeming to realize it) but I'm not sure I am going to finish the series because Del reads more like a high schooler. This novel would probably do better as a YA series, and didn't really have the NA feel I was looking for.

The Quest for Del's secrets

Del is learning more about her history and her future. Both are still seriously fuzzy yet, though. The present, that she's getting a better handle on by the end of the book. Cass and Nix gave their permission, and a push - for Del to reveal their FireSoul secret to Rourke. They head out on a quest that was almost more hazardous to find the information for than the quest itself! Almost. Now, the Shadow?

3 to 3.5 stars, similar to the first book, maybe a little better after you are more invested in the characters. I did do a couple of books from another series by this author and I am a little confused so I am going to finish this series first before jumping back. I think the series are based on each girl in the series. Each girl becomes the MC for each series, well I think that is what is going on anyway :) . So far I think this is the better series...
