The Capital Trilogy #1

Capital Encounters: Love, Loyalty, Freedom, Flings

Rate this book
When a promotion to junior recruiter affords her the chance to move across the bridge into DC, Summer—a free bird—quickly sheds her loner lifestyle after she meets, Emily, a class act whose heart is still tied to her ex-husband; Brooke, a career-driven woman looking for love who wants to have it all; and Amber, the fearless pianist who makes a living off her flings.

Summer’s life begins to go as planned, until she meets a hot Cuban at a party who will change her life forever. What starts off as a “harmless affair” with Ruben Sotolongo, turns out to be a perilous situation as she struggles with her temptation to play with fire. Soon, Summer realizes that she must walk away from him before it’s too late. At the same time, Summer’s friends slowly find the tide turning against them. Brooke will have to face a deal breaker after finding love; after months of suffering, Emily’s chance at healing is threatened by an impediment least likely of all places; and when Amber accidentally betrays someone dear to her and underestimates the personality of a client, she realizes that her flings may not exactly be all fun and games. Will they make it out of the turmoil bruised and battered or stronger than ever?

Received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I was so excited to get stuck into this book after reading the blurb. I was a little worried about the dual POV’s though but excited.

I just want to start by saying what I disliked and that would be the dual POV’s, it got confusing as to who was who, I’ve never been a fan of more than 2 POV’s in a story. I think it could have been more promising if the characters point of views were more spaced out instead of crammed into certain chapters. That the main reason’s why I couldn’t give this story more than 3 stars.

Another thing I dislike is cheating and it happens a couple times in this but I powered through it. I really hate a girl that’s with a man that makes her feel good but conveniently can’t help herself when another man from before comes along, it’s weak and pathetic and makes my blood boil.

Other than those parts I quite enjoyed reading it. The girls were fun to read about, they annoyed me at times but yeah, I liked them.

There was so many twists in this book I didn’t know what hit me. It was insane.

This is my first read by this author and although I didn’t enjoy it as much as I had wished, I’ll be definitely try some of her other work in the future.

I'm going to give this book a 3.7 and round up to 4. These women all become friends and each have their own story to tell. Throughout the book we are on a rotation between them all and the events that take place. My interest was first perked with Summer and Ruben then onto Brooke and Jackson of course we also have Amber and Emily's stories. I'm left curious as to what the future has in store especially for Summer.

I don't read romance, for the simple fact that it is, most of the time airy fairy and so unlife like. But Dawn Wright has written such a gritty story about love and friendship and how it can all go very wrong. I loved it. I was hooked from the start and found it hard to put the book down.

5 Crazy Ass Must Read Stars!!!!!

I received this book a while ago to review and in the craziness that is my schedule and life, it slipped through the cracks. I know, I know. The horror! Right? I'm kicking myself I didn't read this sooner because this was so unique and fresh. I have not come across a story quite like this. That is a rare feat being as I am a book whore. I loved how I got four stories about four different women in one book. I usually don't like books with tons of drama that it gets overwhelming. This book never felt that way to me.
I loved all the characters, even during the times when I wanted to reach into my kindle and shake the ever loving crap out of a couple of them. Well one in particular, and when you read this you will know who I'm talking about.
This was very well written and it never felt choppy or slow despite the number of main characters. It was so full of the feels I love to experience when reading a great book. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

This book is about 4 women from different backgrounds, different occupations, and how they meet and become friends. Summer, Emily, Amber and Brooke take you on a journey through their friendship, the relationships they build with each other, their own individual lives and with the men in their lives.
The book held my attention from beginning to end. It was well written and I felt like I was in the middle of this friendship. She had just the right amount of drama, comedy, and sex in the book. The descriptions of the ladies and their men had me totally knowing and feeling each character.
This was a new author that I haven’t read before, and I will look forward to her next book.

**I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.**

I actually really enjoyed this book. I say it like that because I am very picky with my romance novels, as they tend to be very predictable and over the top. But the author wrote this novel well, and there were so many twists, I didn't know what to expect. I can't wait to read more by the author.

I received this book for an honest review. This is my first book of he author and she don’t disappoint me at all. The plot was amazing, the writing was very good but the connection with the characters were a little slow. This book had a thing that I dislike but I won’t spoiled for you. But overall was great!!!

Dawn has done something that I am not sure has been done before. She has brought us four completely different woman and sent us one a roller coaster of emotions, in the best way possible. The story is full of love and intrigue but at the same time is going to rip your heart out with all these emotions and then stuff it back into your chest when she is done. Dawn has us question what is really right and wrong and what you have believed for so long. Join these four fabulous friends on a journey that will either make or break them.

Because of who I am- I rate this a 3.5, which is awesome for me and romance!
Capital Encounters tells of past mistakes, desire, chance and most of all Friendship. Our heroines are Summer, Brooke, Emily and Amber. Each woman, lovely and laced with some sort of issue, is pretty much easy to understand, but not quite relatable. They left me both interested and irritated- as should any good author manage to incite in a reader.

Though bits of the writing was stiff (felt forced more than flowed), the writing was terrific, making the read pleasant during my crazed day of NaNoWriMo in November. I believe I enjoyed Summer's story the most. Described by the author as a Free Bird, I saw me in her. The wide-eyed, bushy tailed, ready to leap sorta life is how I still greet life. What she endures along the way is a completely different story, but kept me hooked.

The issues I had with Capital Encounters is the amount of characters involved. I understand this tends to happen when each pivotal character has a life outside of the others. Sadly, sometimes it caused me to drift and not keep up. It happens with several POV's and intricacies such as this novel. Is that a negative quality? Nah, just stay focused. Remember, I'm a tomboy with selective ADD- you gotta keep a hold of me!
The twists and surprises are definitely a winner, and should be expected, but I didn't see some of these coming!

Loved the way the book focused on the women's friendship as much or more than their romantic connections. These strong, compelling women were surprising and complex, each with her own unique qualities. Lots of characters to keep track of but I never got confused. The tight, well-chosen language used to tell this edgy story made the story flow and I quickly became immersed. The basics of construction (grammar, punctuation, spelling, word choice) were all well done, but I occasionally felt the dialogue was stiff, especially in moments of passion.

This is a wonderful story about Summer, Emily, Amber and Brooke who although they are very different people with very different goals become the best of friends. We follow them on their journey as they try to maneuver through life, love and relationships and experience their disappointments and their triumphs.

There is drama, humor, chemistry and complex compelling characters that you can relate to. This was my first book by this author but I would definitely read her future books.

This book plays out like a TV show. It jumps effortlessly between the four main characters, following them on their individual journeys and also intertwining their stories. I really enjoyed how it was set up! Every reading session felt like tuning in to a new episode.

The characters are all unique in their personalities and their situations. I loved the variety. Even though the women were all friends, they weren't cookie cutter replicas of each other. One finds what seems like the perfect romance while another can't commit to even the labels of boyfriend and girlfriend. One is hung up on her ex-husband while another jumps into wealthy beds for money. Their friendships between each other are varied too. Some were closer than others, the way a real four-way friendship would be.

This book had lots of humor, plenty of surprises, and it had steamy scenes without being vulgar. I'm excited to pick up book two!

"We're adviced in our lives to tell the truth no matter what, but no one could ever tell you the exact price of admission."

This book totally surprised me.
I have a doubt when I started reading it. There's many main characters here and I'm not a big fan of too much characters to focus on. But this one is an exception, because the more I read the more I like these characters. They got me feeling so many emotions, sometimes I want to yell and scream and slap them for those stupid things they did, and other times I totally rooting for them, and got teary when they're broken. And love their friendship despite they're not always on the same page, just like a real friendship should.
Yup angst, laughter, sadness and some hotness. All is in this book. And with some twists and turns. I really love this book.
Love when the author keep me on edge, expecting something bad happens. Makes me wondering what will happen when the truth is coming out.
In the end, I really enjoying reading it and really love the characters.

This book is about four ordinary women in real life. Making stupid mistakes, doing something reckless, being hopelessly foolish about love, got so many responsibilities, with happiness, freedom and contentment as the goals. That's why I'm really enjoying this book.

If you love romance packed with emotions and lots of drama, you must try this one.

When I first started this book. I didn't know what to expect. I'm so use to reading about thugs and drugs I didn't think I was gonna like it. I wanted to be open to read something different. I read the first chapter and was like hmmmm I don't know. Whoa, was I wrong!! This author brought a story that had clean language and it still had be like a omg. I didn't think it was possible unless it was a Christian fiction. A love affair that you know in your heart was wrong, but it felt good, and drama with each friend. I won't spoil it, but I felt like I was actually there. The story line was perfect. I swear I was living in a lifetime movie ( Back when the movies had you on the edge of your seat). There was never a dull moment with all the characters because she brought them to life. Ms. Dawn is mean with that pen❣ Come on part 2! I'm ready!

I was truly intrigued by this book and I will be reading this author again. I love when I am kept on the edge of my seat and this one did not disappoint. It is packed full of drama, romance and the whole range of emotions from happy to sad to anger. This is a book about four women who are best friends that go through their lives making mistakes, doing stupid things and making their way through life. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to more.

4.5*** Sass, drama. This story was about four friends and their struggles. Unfortunately, it didn't grab my attention at first because some of their struggles I thought were self inflicted and could be avoided. As I kept reading I got drawn into story, wanting to see how they handle the situation thrown their way and how it would end. And I'm absolutely happy that I did stick with it because I wasn't disappointed. And I'm actually looking forward to reading more from this author.

WOW! WOW! WOW!

These are the only words I can think of to describe this wonderfully written story of four girlfriends. And while they haven't been "lifetime" friends, they all seem to come together at pivotal points in their lives.

Emily can't get over her marriage breakup. Amber gets paid for her "services".

Brooke is a well sought after wedding planner and Summer seems to be the glue that holds them all together.

Each have their secrets, desires, fears and temptations. Each have their reasons for not being in a relationship but most of all, they each have one another.

Until one incident will tear the group apart.

To say I thoroughly enjoyed this book would be a huge understatement.

I'm extremely lucky enough to have my "circle", just as these four women do.

Dawn, Thank you for trusting me with your baby. Cannot wait for book two

3 3/4 stars..

Arc given by author for honest review..
Capital Encounters is a story about 4 different women.. Summer, Brooke, Emily, & Amber. All with very different personalities who meet and become friends. My biggest quam was it was told in 3rd person… I am just not a huge fan of that but I was able to still read it and understand it. 
First up is Emily.. She is a school teacher and she seems stuck on her Ex and just cant seem to get over him.. or the fact that her marriage is over. (couldn’t stand her ex). Amber is a Piano teacher by day and a woman who gets paid for her "services" at night.. Brooke is a very sought out after wedding planner and Summer is trying to make it on her own but she also seems to be the one constant that helps hold them together.
This was a interesting read.. my first from this author. She sought me out via goodreads and asked if I would be willing to give this a go. Thanks for thinking of me.

Capital Encounters introduces you to Summer, Brooke, Emily, and Amber. Four women with very different personalities meet and become friends. They support one another through the ups and downs, especially when it comes to dating or dealing with the opposite sex. My favorite character was Brooke and my least favorite was Emily. I knew Jackson was too good to be true.

The construction of this story was well put together { grammar, language, formatting, and editing}. It took me awhile to get into the story, some of the dialogue was stiff and the sex scenes were mediocre in my opinion. The story really got interesting in the last 20-30 pages of the book. If you like romances you will enjoy this book.

Capital Encounters by Dawn Wright is the first book in the Capital Trilogy

The book is about 4 women who meet and become fast friends and is told from their own POVs. Which I have to hand it to the author, that can be a bit tricky but she did a great job making the storylines flow.
I found these woman interesting and their storylines fun and yet somewhat heartbreaking

It started a little slow for me but it’s probably due to the introduction of characters and plot lines, but it does pick up half way through and just takes off.
I found it hard to put down

Overall, I enjoyed it. It had the right amount of drama and sexy time and I can’t wait to read the next one

The author has given us a generous helping of fun, sex and drama.

The writers style has your eyes smoothly melting over the words as the language and storyline flow fluently. There are four gorgeous girls to wrap your arms around and Im sure every reader will have one that they relate to.

I am Team Oliver all the way, with a shot of Jackson thrown in occasionally

While the characters had potential, the writing fell flat for me. It couldn't hold my interest following these girls around their crazy escapades in D.C and I ended up skimming a lot of it.

The premise was intriguing but it didn't come together for me like a book written for adults should; felt unedited. Hopefully those who stick with the series enjoy it! 2 stars.

A lot going on in this book. Lots of characters to keep track of and everyone going in different directions but seeming to intertwine more often than not. A very incestuous bunch.

The four friends in this story seem to become close fast and they have a lot of ups and downs and some serious drama, some of it is brought on by themselves, and some of it they just seem to stumble into. The story follows each woman separately. They all seem to have some baggage and or demons that they have to deal with in order to find what they are looking for. It took me a bit to get interested in the lives of a couple of the women, but once they started falling in love or making some questionable choices I really wanted to see how she would handle it, what came next and how it ended. I am looking forward to the next book in the trilogy to see what happens, the friends are all left in precarious situations.

While I did enjoy most of this book, there were parts that I didn't like that Summer and Amber did. I do hope that things will get resolved for Summer, Amber, Emily, and Brooke. Despite their mistakes, I hope they will eventually be happy. I plan on continuing this series soon.

I received and read this ARC about a year ago, but when I received the ARC of book 2, I realized my review for this one never got posted...so I'm gonna try this again. Lol

This is by a new author and is a series about 4 young ladies that form a tight friendship and go through all kinds of life experiences, both good and bad. Things happen that bring them closer, and also that try to tear them apart. The book is from all 4 friends' POVs and it helps you get to know each one better individually, although it was confusing for awhile until you learned all the characters and knew who was who and what was going on with that character each time their POV sections came up. Overall, I gave this a 4 star rating because it's a really good story of life, love, friendship, and growth.
