GRANDMA'S WEDDING QUILTS: Eleven Sweet Western Historical Romance Novellas and Novels from Eleven USA Today Bestselling, Amazon Bestselling, and Award-winning Authors. Grandma Mary's traditional gift to each of her grandchildren: hand-pieced and hand-stitched quilts. Made with love and woven with memories, wisdom, and a family legacy of enduring love.
The summer Meredith turned eighteen was filled with romance and laughter - two young men sought her hand, and she chose the one she thought would make her the happiest. He certainly was the most handsome, and the wealthiest, and could offer her the most pleasant life. But that turned out to be a mistake . . . one she would regret for a very long time.
In a strange twist of fate, now she's being given a chance to set things right. Will she be able to live down her past, or will her foolishness keep coming back to haunt her and keep her from ever being happy with the man she loves?
Amelia C. Adams is a wife, a mother, and a novelist. She spends her days dreaming up stories and her nights writing them down. Her biggest hero is her husband, and you might just see bits and pieces of him as you read her novels.
She loves all things historical and enjoys learning about days gone by, but she's glad she was born more recently (she won't say how recently or not recently) because the Internet is awesome, and she's glad she doesn't have to wash her clothes by hand in a galvanized tub. She has hit Amazon bestseller status twice, once for A Clean Slate and once for A Clear Hope.
The story began in 1871; it is Meredith’s eighteenth birthday, her family is having a party and her best girlfriend, Cissie, brings a college friend of her brothers over to meet her and ask if he can also attend that night. Alex Bingham is good looking, charismatic, seems to have a good head on his shoulder, with plans for a prosperous future with his grandfather running their shipping business. He says and does all the right things to impress a young woman. They will start writing letters to get to know each other.
Luke and Meredith have been best friends since she was nine-years-old. They confided in each other, enjoyed doing things together, and had the best camaraderie. Sometimes you don’t see what you have that is right in front of your face. Luke is in love with Meredith, but she has stars in her eyes for a charmer. What will a true confession do to their friendship?
Alex graduates from college and rather than going straight to Topeka, he comes to Salina, proposes to Meredith and wants a quick wedding. Infatuation or love, it all happened so fast with three days from proposal to marriage, and then off to Topeka for these newlyweds. All seems grand, with a fancy house, lavish parties, but then the reality of life sets in. Alex is busy with work, is drinking, reneges on promises, and refuses to allow Meredith even to visit her family. Then tempers flare, acts of violence, and now Meredith is in fear of her very life. “Marry in haste, repent at leisure,” will become a sad reality.
The story will cover from 1871 until 1875 and will come full circle. Meredith will have to make her own life mistakes, live with regrets, accept what happens, and eventually forgive herself and allow happiness to come back. The talk Meredith has with her Grandma Mary are precious. The beautiful quilt she makes for her is called Feathered Star or Bethlehem Star. It is a complicated pattern, to match her personality. “You were only doing what your heart told you to do.” Meredith never uses her wedding quilt during her marriage to Alex, it just never fit his house or lifestyle, but was always a comfort for her to hold and remember the love placed in each stitch. Will her wedding quilt find a happily ever after home?
This is the fourth book in an ongoing series called Grandma's Wedding Quilts. Meredith is Jesse's younger sister and as soon as she turns 18 is swept off her feet by Alex. Unfortunately Luke has always been waiting for her and she never noticed him. That apparently was the mistake. The author tried to bring in domestic violence as a theme and while I am sure it was a reality even back then, the book falls a bit flat compared to the previous books in the series. Am hoping the next one will be better.
Realistic story of Meredith and life's choices. This book made me laugh and made me cry. It brought up some of life's past mistakes and my heart ached for Meredith. This was a touching story and I can't reveal more of the story so I'll just say read it! I think you'll be glad you did.
Meredith just turned eighteen and she meets a new man, Alex Bingham. Alex sweeps her off her feet. Luke is her best friend and he loves her but Meredith doesn't return his feeling. You must read to find out how life turns out for Meredith and what mistakes she makes. This is another great book by Amelia Adams. I would recommend you read it.
“Meredith’s Mistake,” is Amelia Adams latest novel that takes the reader back in time to a place that makes you feel right at home. Meredith Atwell is smitten at first sight with dashing Alex Bingham and he peruses with a charismatic quality that is electrifying for Meredith. Luke Kelly has spent most of his life as Meredith’s best friend, but he has secretly been in love with her since the moment she first spoke up in their classroom. When Meredith announces her intention to marry Alex, Luke confesses his love for her, but Meredith believes that she could never return his love in any way except as a friend and goes on to marry Alex. Meredith quickly discovers that marriage is not what she envisioned and through a series of events she must decide what the true meaning of love truly is. This is a memorable novel that leads the reader on an emotional journey. I was given an advanced copy of this book, and all of the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Meredith's Mistake ⭐⭐⭐⭐ by Amelia C. Adams Grandma's Wedding Quilts Series
Meredith has just turned eighteen at the cusp of womanhood. When she meets her best friends brothers friend Alex Bingham she becomes smitten. Alex say all the right things and immediately tells her he wants her in his life.
Mederdith has her long time childhood friend Luke Ridley who has loved her for years as children and then her as an adult. Merridith see Luke only as a brother figure.
When Meredith decides to accept Alex as her husband all the plans seem very rushed and when Luke speaks up it is too late. Meredith marries and moves to Topeka she lives in a fine house and has all the material things she could desire but Alex lacks warmth and love and turns very abusive.
To tell more of his story would spoil the tale. But keep your fingers crossed and see what happens when she returns home and see Luke after the death of Alex. A Book Obsessed Chicks Review Team Selection
The story started a little slow, but ended up being engrossing and thought-provoking. Meredith dealt with some challenging issues many women face when they find out the man they love isn't what he seemed when they first met. Well-written and a thoughtful ending. I loved the advice given to Meredith by Grandma Mary. A must read.
It's hard to review this book without giving too much away! There are many moments of joy and sorrow, frustration and peace, love and fear! I pray more women don't make the same mistake Meredith made, but if they do, that they have a family to support them and a hope for the future!!! Thank you Amelia for discussing real important issues in both the past and the present!!
Wow! Each book I've read in this series is awesome! This is a sweet, heartbreaking, but tender romantic story. Amelia C. Adams is a wonderful writer and this book of hers, kept me busy reading from the beginning to the end. JudyE
