It’s not easy being a single mom, or a witch with no magical skills. It’s even harder for Tyla and her little girl on weekends and holidays, when pretty much everyone else in their supernatural community hangs out with their big ol' families. Tyla makes it work, because she has to. Her daughter means everything to her. And the nagging feeling that's something's missing? Yeah, burying that became second nature a long time ago.
But then cheetah shifter Quinn, her high school sweetheart, shows up in Rocky Falls for a wedding. Just like that, Tyla is forced to confront her past — and share her biggest secret.
He's a famous athlete who never wanted kids. She's a small town girl who never forgot her first love.
Could there really be a happy ending out there for Tyla and Quinn, after all these years?
CHEETAHS NEVER RUN is part of the SHIFTERS OF ROCKY FALLS series. It is a second chance paranormal romance short read containing plenty of heart, zero cheating, some steamy moments, an adorable four-year-old cheetah shifter cub, and a HEA.
Suki Selborne is a USA Today bestselling author writing paranormal, sci-fi and fantasy romance. She loves reading stories full of magic, drama, suspense, action and fun, so those are the kind she writes, too. Suki lives with her husband, kids, and way too many books, in London, England.
Characters' names mixed-up, no head or tail of the story, the h made ridiculous excuses for not telling the H about having a daughter for 4 years. When they come together, the story is cut off after sex and we're already in epilogue.
Cute story that ended kind of abruptly. They finally get together then the next chapter is the epilogue. I didn't get what Quinn did for a living. He's a celebrity but for what? I would have liked to know more about him. I was a little confused here and there but I did read it to the end.
This story was barely ok. After being gone for 4 years dude just shows up the day before a wedding and is the best man???? Not believable, it takes time to plan a wedding etc so you cannot just insert a person into the wedding party the night before. Second, no way does the bride not give her best friend the heads up prior to an hour before the ceremony. I generally do not like "secret baby" stories because I always find the excuses silly, stupid or just plain unbelievable. The I broke up with you so you could live your dream scenario blows as well. I know teenagers aren't the best at communicating so I doubt they'd be that great at self-sacrifice. The story was incomplete as well.
As maid of honor for her best friend, April's, wedding there was nothing she wouldn't do for her. That is until April springs on her at the last second that her ex, Quinn, will be the man of honor. April promises that she didn't know until the night before. But now Tyla has to deal with the man who left her five years ago, pregnant. Not that he knew or knows, but still. How was she ever going to get through this night? This was an impulse buy from BookBub in 2017. I didn't at the time know that it was a short story. In fact it took me less than an hour to read the entire thing. In earnest I can't tell you much about the book without giving everything away. I don't even know if there was enough substance to it to know if I enjoyed it or not. It was cute. Little melodrama. I feel like Quinn let her off a bit easy for not telling him he had a daughter for 5 years. Yeah, I get why she did it but in his place I'd have been PISSED.
There wasn't enough of the book for me to have a favorite character. I don't know if Quinn was actually the playboy Tyla made him out to be or if it was just her internal justification. It was a cute little fluff piece. That being said if you also want to read this book I wish you all the luck in finding it. I was able to locate it on the GoodReads page, but the links for purchase go to a "sorry" page for Amazon and "no results match your search criteria" for the other options. I only checked 5 of them, but still.
Sweet second chance story. Set at a wedding close to Christmas, it finds our mother and child as part of the wedding party. The unexpected surprise is that Quinn, the father of the baby is now the best man and he's going to be there in under an hour. Sparks fly between the two once they are alone, and Quinn is quite accepting and wants to be apart of both their lives. Tyla, the mother, has never stopped loving Quinn, but has trouble getting out of the self sacrifice role, she put herself in. Quinn is determined to change her mind.
I received an ARC for this story and chose to review it.
Prodigal son Quinn returns home to discover that his high school sweetheart had his baby. Tyla is determined that he will not take her child, remembering his reaction to another couple's situation when they were younger. One kiss is all it takes to bring up the old feelings and set them on the path to their HEA. A steamy little tale, but it wasn't really fleshed out, short though it was intended to be. In two days they were back together forever with few emotions expressed.
This was a cute, quick read with a fun story of second chances around Christmas. It was pretty sweet and a bit steamy with an adorably cute cheetah cub trying to steal the show. My only complaint is I would have loved some of the story told from Quinn's perspective. I felt like we didn't get to know him much and I really wanted to.
A nice, short, sweet story concerning Quinn and Tyla. So much misunderstandings between Quinn and Tyla. Quinn and Tyla meet up after five years of separation at the wedding of their best friends' wedding. The sparks are still there. Glad Quinn and Tyla got their HEA!
This book was awesome! Cheetas are so hot! This and Quinn are the cutest couple! The chemistry between the two was hot! I look forward to more shifter books! The have the best sex!
This was a short HEA that made me smile and hope for the heroine in this story. Was she wrong to hide her secret or do you get a second chance at true love? Come find out.
The reasons for keeping the baby secret was far too weak. There is no complications and no plot. The guy just shows up for a wedding and desires he wants her back and wham bam sexy times - end of story...
It was alright, but had an abrupt resolution. Felt rushed and stilted at the end, like the author new how to begin and what the outcome of the story would be, but not how to get there.
It was going great until the "end". What happened when Louella found out that Quinn was her dad? There needed to be more resolution about why Quinn left. Something seemed off.
This is an extremely short, cute book. Fun little read if you just want something quick. It would've been fun to see how a longer book would've turned out.
This is a good book but to short. The story line is good and the characters seem strong as well. So you can get your copy enjoy reading it but remember it's a little short.
A short cute read. A bit of a quick transition close to the end. Not enough character development. This was a free read. I enjoyed it enough to want to read more by this author.
Read in SHIFTES IN THE SNOW - BUNDLE OF JOY anthology. A short sweet story that was enjoyable to read. A wedding brings two former lovers back together with a little surprise for one of them.
Several years ago, Tyla and Quinn broke up. Quinn left to pursue an athletic career and Tyla never left home (she took care of her daughter). Quinn didn't know he was a father. Some four years later, her best friend was getting married and right before the ceremony, she was told Quinn flew in for the wedding. Tyla panicked and wanted to leave before Quinn saw her. Since the ceremony was to start in a few minutes, she couldn't leave. I can't tell you any more because it would ruin the rest of the story for you. So, you need to read this book to find out what happens next. Enjoy!
Tyla is a maid of honor at her panther-shifter friend April’s wedding. April and Noah found each other as mates in high school. Tyla finds out her one foray into relationships is returning as best man; cheetah-shifter Quinn! One dance at the wedding has the five-year shutdown of her system now lighting up her circuit boards. As long as she can keep her young daughter from shifting, things will be OK – because there is only ONE cheetah family in town. Sweet, second chance story!!
**I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book**
Tyla and Quinn created a beautiful little girl when they were teens. A series of miscommunications and misinterpretations resulted in cheetah shifter Quinn leaving to become a sports star without ever knowing about the baby. Fast forward five years. Tyla and Quinn are reunited at a friend's wedding. Will Tyla and Quinn get back together? Well, I'm not going to tell you. Read the book. It's lots of fun! It's very sexy! And it's well written. This is my first book by this author. I'll definitely be reading more.
