-Exceeded my expectations, loads of renowned breeders are involved and I really enjoyed the stories from them as well as the factual advice. I've no problem saying it is a great read for any Dachshund owner.- - Alice Owens
-So obvious that a huge amount of effort went into the production of this book. I've bought almost every Dachshund book there is, but this is the best so far.-
- Ian Allsop
-Our breeder suggested this book, we were glad to start off on the right foot by having a how-to-guide on many different aspects of Dachshund ownership. Being our first dog we wanted as much help with our new puppy as possible to ensure a smooth start and to understand the breed.-
A very useful resource for new and seasond Daschund owners, it covers a myriad of topics about everything sausage dog related. The book starts with the history of the breed, and goes on to extensively talk about owning and caring for your sausage as relayed by multiple expert breeders across the UK and USA.
It also impressively enumerates and briefly explains the different diseases the breed is predisposed to, and how you could detect them early.
Overall, a brilliant and comprehensive resource, especially for a first time Doxie owner like myself.
This book has all the information you need about dachshunds. From how to decide if the breed is for you, picking out a dachshund, how to care for your beloved pup, how to prevent problems, and potential health problems and how to determine when something is wrong. It even describes the differences between the different coats and sizes of dachshunds. The book is so strong in its facts because experienced reputable breeders were consulted. The author also has dachshunds, and while not a breeder, offers personal insights from a dachshund owner.
I found hearing from breeders I knew as well as those I didn't know very educational. The book gave a good understanding of what it means to be owned by a dachshund.
We are about to get our third dachshund so I thought we were pretty experienced with the breed but this book contained lots of info we needed to have reinforced.
Good reference and resource for new dachshund owners! Plenty of expert quotes on various topics from breeders, trainers and club members. Online link to bonus interviews included! A valuable purchase!
This book is great for a new dachshund owner. There is a lot of helpful information and covers almost everything you would want to know. The only thing I didn’t care for is that there are tips/opinions included from different breeders and sometimes they contradict each other.
Good book to give you a decent idea about the breed, personality, challenges, and basic commands. Do get it if considering a dachshund puppy, very informative.
