As alliances begin to crumble, Firestorm agents Brady Hawk and Alex Duncan are requested to help a lone CIA operative thwart Al Hasib from getting their hands on Sarin gas at the Somalian port city of Berbera. The mission gets complicated when Emily Thornton re-enters the scene and tries to convince Hawk to join forces with Searchlight as secrets about Alex’s past come to light. Meanwhile, Senator J.D. Blunt continues to live in a shroud of secrecy in Africa … until someone from his past threatens to expose Firestorm and kill him. Hawk must decipher who to trust in order to succeed in this pulse-pounding thriller. Fans of Ben Coes, Brad Taylor, and Brad Thor are loving this new action thriller series!
I absolutely love Jack Patterson's books, and the Brady Hawk series is my favorite by far. In Hawk, Patterson has created a dedicated modern agent determined to do whatever it takes to save the world from the terrorist groups Al-Hasib and its rival Al-Shabaab while battling a rival black ops group and a rogue faction of the CIA. Accompanied by Alex, Hawk's former handler, sometimes partner, computer genius, and likely love interest, Hawk makes his way to Somalia to intercept the ingredients needed to manufacture enough sarin gas to kill untold thousands.
Patterson moves his story quickly in a series of short chapters and no unnecessary verbiage. His plot lines are timely and well researched. If you like thrillers, try this series. The only regret you may have is having to wait for the next book.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Searchlight agent Brady Hawk is still besieged on multiple fronts -- rival group Firestorm is still trying to recruit or kill him; his boss, J.D. Blount is also on the run and hiding in Morroco; the mysterious international cabal known as The Chamber is working against Brady and Blount; and his relationship with his partner Alex is evolving into more than just a working partnership. Amid all this chaos, Brady's nemesis, the terror group Al-Hasid is planning to obtain Sarin gas and Brady and Alex are sent to Somalia to stop the group from getting it.
Author Jack Patterson manages all these plot lines adeptly. The reader is never lost in the chaos and the action is never bogged down. Patterson even manages to add another ingredient into the mix: Brady's lost lover Emily Thompson, returns in a way that affects everything. Where has she been and why is she back? Brady Hawk's journey has definitely taken a major turn and the reader is left wanting more.
NOTE: Although each book in the series deals with a specific mission that begins and ends in that book, the events affecting Brady Hawk's life are continuously evolving and each new book builds on the previous ones. To fully enjoy Brady's saga and the author's dexterity in creating it, I strongly suggest these books be read in sequence. It's well worth the effort and will definitely enhance the reader's voyage into Brady's world. Enjoy!
Target Zero is the fifth book in the Brady Hawk series. Each book has it's own primary mission which is always resolved, though somewhat unbelievably at times, and the series as a whole has several tiers of conflicts and mystery. These are not standalones and should be read in order.
I have a great love for our country and it's service members and veterans. I love that Brady Hawk was a Navy SEAL. I also love his principles and purposes to save all non-terroists.
There is moderate cursing and violence. I would recommend this series for anyone 16ish or older due to mature content. I already have book 6!! Onward!
Sarin, a deadly chemical. Especially if a large quantity gets into the wrong hands. Brady Hawk intends to stop that from happening. Problem is the CIA wants him dead as well as the terrorists who are in possession of the sarin. He's betrayed on a mission, lied to from a former girlfriend and operative who he thought was murdered...plus POTUS is willing to unleash this chemical upon innocent people in order to serve his own agenda. A truly fast paced action thriller. I highly recommend!!
Well, that last chapter. Was not expecting that crumb of info. Interesting developments!
But what is Hawk thinking doing going to Cape Town? I hope he at least informs Alex of all these developments, especially when going to Cape Town puts her life in danger. More than usual, that is.
With numerous secrets, lies, betrayals, and someone always trying to kill them, Hawk and his team are constantly attempting to make America safer by wrecking the plans of terrorists. It's still a mystery of who exactly wants all of Hawk's team dead, or maybe it'd be easier to figure out who doesn't?!? It's an ongoing story that continues throughout the series. I would recommend this book, series, and author.
Great read.? Alex and Brady are running from everything. They're assignment is to stop sarin chemical weapons from getting released at a Washington National's baseball game. That's only the beginning. This leads them into the ops of their lives. See how it goes. Another can't wait till the next book.
The book may be short, but even after reading just a quarter of it I felt no connection to it. Those who enjoy violence for its own sake might find some appeal in this clichéd story. Terrorists get their hands on chemical weapons, and CIA-backed agents set out to stop them. Honestly? Give us something original.
Brady Hawk and Alex Duncan are tasked to thwart Al Hasib from obtaining Sarin gas. His boss, Senator J.D. Blunt, and Firestorm.
Who can Hawk trust? This is an action-packed, fast-paced read. I love it. Hawk fights on several levels, creating multi plots. The sense of danger fell off each page.
Hawk and Alex are sent to help a CIA agent stop a chemical weapon getting into the wrong hands. However, as previous events have shown, they can not trust there fellow countrymen, as they are now targeted by friend and foe. Not knowing who to trust, a person from Hawk's past is thrown into the mix.
Wow another fast read. This the 5th book of the Brady Hawk series was another page turner. This book grabbed you from the very start & doesn’t let go until the very last page. Brady Hawk & Alex Duncan make a great team & have become a favorite of mine. Don’t hesitate. Grab this book today!!!
In spite of all efforts to prevent it the Taliban is in San Francisco and giving Brady a real problem. On top of this Alex is thinking of joining another team.
It seems everyone wants the duo to either work for them or they want them dead! As the song says," Where do I go when no one needs me!". I am still on the fence on whether Blunt is a good guy but, folks are trying to kill him too.
I like the growing relationship between Hawk & Alex. I don't like that Emily has popped up. There are so many people with multiple faces. It's crazy & fun to read.
The story moves at a good pace and had me hooked from the start. Once I started I didn't want to put it down. I'm eagerly awaiting the next book in the series
TARGET ZERO, is the 5th book in the Brady Hawk series, by Jack Patterson. My first question before reading,is when is the next one coming!Has the name listed,it will be called Fury. Love his books. Cal Murphy series and this series Brady Hawk. Once again Brady Hawk is teamed with Alex, In Tangier, waiting for Senator Blunt to come. Letter is delivered to meet in a private room, Blunt isn't one to change plans, why. They met Blunt and another, Senator Roland, mission to stop chemical weapons, and Hawk is the last resort. Things aren't what they are suppose to be, Alex uncovers paper, but when can she tell Brady. Searchlight operator Emily, is asked if Hawk is a threat, she has one week, to decide. The intrigue , the characters are well developed, the plot is great. Another great read, can be read alone, but, the characters do continue. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion I have given.
Yet another superb addition to the Brady Hawk series. The story moves with an irresistible momentum. The characterisation is excellent, the situations dramatic and compelling, the style energetic. What more more do you want from a book? Reads well as a stand-alone novel or as the fifth book in the series. Not read the other four? I recommend you catch up, pronto.
