Remixed Fairy Tales #1

Remington's Tower

Rate this book
Remington McKinney has led a sheltered life. For thirteen years, she’s had only her uncle, her four older cousins, and the mountains of West Virginia for company. She’s almost twenty-one, and she’s finally at college and free to experience everything she's been missing out on.

Until the nightmares start.

Nightmares she hasn’t had since she was eight, when her father died and her uncle took her in. Nightmares that suggest her childhood wasn’t what she’d always believed, that her father wasn’t a sedate tax accountant, wasn't a nice man at all.

The truth about her past will threaten everything she thought she knew about herself, and her past isn't the only place secrets lurk. The man she's falling love with, a man who makes the nightmares fade, isn't the person he's pretending to be.

It's a great story about a girl, Remington, who grew up trapped in a cabin in the mountains because of her past. She can't remember her early years but hidden memories have a way of tormenting her in her sleep. When she goes off to university, she meets a boy, Worthy, and her past suddenly collides with her present. The story unfolds with her finding out about her past. I enjoyed the story and would recommend it to others. A copy was given to me in exchange for an honest review.

When I first started this book, I didn't realize it was New Adult. I'd read a few of Katharine Sadler's books and knew she wrote paranormal romance, so I'd assumed this book was also of the same genre. Imagine my surprise when I realized half-way through it a genre I'm not a fan of and yet, I still enjoyed the book.
Remy spent most of her life living with her uncle and cousins on a mountain, isolated from civilization. She head off to college and meets Worthy. Theirs is an interesting and complicated relationship. Watching it all unfolding was fascinating and I quite liked the secondary characters.
