Abandoned by her mother at private school, young Cara arrives out of the 'blue' for the weekend at the cottage of her beloved grandmother and her intrepid great aunt. She goes in search of the lost island where they grew up and in the process she discovers a stronger sense of her own identity and a deeper understanding of their radically different lives.
