Escape can be a tempting offer.Running off with Captain Finn to deliver a portion of the stone to Silo seemed to October like the perfect way to get some breathing from her shifter king and vampire mate, but she soon learns how horrible life without them can be.Despite her best efforts to slip through Silo unnoticed, October soon finds herself swept up in a war against an army that turns out to be worse than her greatest nightmares. She is determined to hold her ground, until a budding friendship with the uncaring and violent Captain Finn turns her world upside-down.If you love Bella Forrest, Cassandra Clare, and falling in love with the bad boy, you'll devour the "Terraway" series by Mary E. Twomey. This is the fourth book in the 9-part paranormal reaper romance series written by USA Today Bestselling Author Mary E. Twomey.
USA Today bestselling author Mary E. Twomey lives in Michigan with her three adorable children. She enjoys reading, writing, vegetarian cooking, and telling her children fantastic stories about wombats.
While she loves writing fantasy, dystopian, and paranormal tales for her readers, Mary also writes romance under the name Tuesday Embers.
This one was a bit frustrating. We got some answers, the fighting in the beginning of the book was pretty cool, but then we get a whole a lot of drama. Not that I mind that, but Von acted mostly like a complete jerk and extremely emotionally immature... He needs to gravel a lot for me to forgive him and October has to stop excusing their bad behavior...
#3 & #4 have been had the most uneven pacing. I still love the characters. The stress of the emotional pacing has not let up at all. It's pretty much a "high stress" situation from start to finish. I am afraid that the extra relationship lines will not fit well with what has been plotted. Hoping that I'm wrong!
This is one of the series I so love and can't wait for the next one as soon as I am done reading. I have to read it in one sitting because I am so eager to see what is in store for October. There are always plenty of surprises and twists. If you enjoy paranormal stories, you definitely want to read the whole series in order. Each book takes place immediately after the other and you don't want to miss the buildup.
Finn is an interesting character. This book shows you there is more to him than he seems and you learn about his background. I like that the author doesn't feel the need to make characters either good or evil but shows their many sides. It happens with Von and Mason too as well as October's mother.
October is a favorite character of mine for many reasons. I respect her ability to keep going regardless of the cost to herself when others need her. She is very protective of those she loves and even when they hurt her, she still will help them. As the series has continued, she has stepped out of her comfort zone time and time again and suffered a great deal of mental and physical pain. It just doesn't stop her from trying. There is more pain for her in this book but you know she will stay strong.
So many things I want to say, majority of them about October and her tendencies to be a pushover for these dumb asses in her life. I think these characters are awfully stunted when it comes to feeling and expressing emotions. God help me before I sock them all. Seriously. I think I'm attached, like an unhealthy fixation, but all these walking over and getting walked over were making me snap out of the haze. I feel like yes, there are a lot of developments happening here and there but not much of processing to identify each and every one of them. Plus I hate how October always sweeps everything and everyone under the rug just to compartmentalize. To say it's unhealthy is the understatement of the century. And I am so freaking tired of dealing with assholes like Von, Mason and Finn. Even Judge is better than the three of them together. Heck, those three dumbasses can be killed in the next book and be done with them without batting and eyelash. Yes, that's how I strongly hate them.
Man, I just don’t know. I’m truly sucked into the series but I do wonder where it is going. All this back and forth between October and her Pullers, and the secret looks others seem to share when they watch October with Mason or Von. It makes me think there’s an underlying meaning there or something. Is October supposed to be with any of these guys she’s interested in? Like is she ever going to get a guy that doesn’t hurt her? Mason with his visionary wife, Finn with his position and curse, and now Von with his words, actions and just everything.
I was floored by what went down between Von and October. I was floored when something similar happened between Mason and October in the last book. Yet time and time again October gets hurt. October’s feelings are diminished.
I really don’t understand the continued cruelty I keep seeing in this series. I don’t understand the actions or reactions of some of the characters but I am able to feel their emotional depth.
The writing is fabulous, lends to the experiences and emotions really well.
But overall in this book we learn more about October’s abilities though lack explanations. The whole Omen’s in love thing is weird, and I’d like to know more about it. Basically I’m just reading now to see where this goes but I still need some wins. I need to see October couple up or talk about a harem or something soon. I can’t do this get her hopes up make her feel wanted then crush her business.
I still love this series but I stand by what I said previously, I needed Bev to remain a villain. I needed to hate her and having her come back from being “poisoned” just irritates me. That coupled with the fact that I wish October would finally have real relationships.... I feel like she has these deep moments with certain people and I need her to just commit. Not saying to one of them, I just need her to commit to something here, it’s driving me nuts. I basically feel like I wouldn’t mind her dating everyone in the book as long as she’d do it already. I’m also getting a little annoyed at the changing dynamics of her and von’s relationship. I loved their playful friendship and the beauty of them having a loving friendship. I don’t know why it has to be taken to the next level... that’s why I gave a 4/5 instead of 5/5
Book 4 "tempt" sees October running AGAIN from her new life and from her reapers Von and Mason. Sick of being managed she runs off with new guy Finn.
Finn is the 'I am mostly dark pretending to be good while the pretty girl is around' character. It annoys me that October runs off with him without telling anyone who actually cares for her.
Yes it would be super hard to adjust to a completely new life and magical world that she is responsible for keeping alive but I feel like leaving with Finn is just about the dumbest thing she could have done.
Also will someone please tell October that her 'dreams' with the perfect 'Philip' can not end well.
I am getting very antsy for a HEA that I just can not see coming any time soon.
I already like Finn, and October turns into a complete badass in this book. Low key I feel like Von and Mason hold her back. They think she's weak and they make her doubt herself time and time again. They're just holding her back from her true potential and that really grinds my gears. That's why I like Finn, he doesn't baby her or treat her like an imbecile. He tests her and pushes her buttons because he knows she can handle it. He encourages her independence and doesn't stop her from being who she is. I also love how the supernatural world continues to evolve. All of the creatures are unique and they're all given life within the pages. The author has a great way of making you feel like you're actually in Terraway, its absolutely amazing.
Again my dearest author has thrown me for a freaking loop.. Why you gotta break my heart like this. You left me with so many questions. You better answer them soon...or I'll have to stalk your facebook and Pesta you daily. (See what I did there.)) I loved this book! It shows so much growth in our Gracie and I can't believe al the kick ass things she's done. Finn wasn't too bad to read about. I cant say anything else except read the book because one word.... Zombies!!!
This is the fourth book I've read in what I'm assuming is an 8 book series. I enjoy slow burn RH series, however I don't believe any of these books so far are RH. The genre this book is listed in is misleading.
With all that being said, I did really enjoy this book; but I think more readers in the YA fantasy genre would enjoy the book then the RH genre.
There are really creative monsters in this book as well as the what I'm guessing is another dimension beneath earth. The fantasy part of the book is very creative and thought out.
Okay where do I start! I guess at please don't ever let von know October and finn made out cause that will ruin them.... And then Omg when is she gonna figure out that her dream boyfriend Philip is clearly the bad guy on the island? And Omg finally her and von kissed and for what? For them to both redeny there feelings and him to get kidnapped! And can she ask someone about the thing that made him and finn have borderline heart attacks? I hope she doesn't loose her mind moving the stone with only one puller... Please don't kill von off!

I couldn't get enough of this series!!! Just finished binge reading all 9.
The story was so captivating and the characters were people you honestly felt connected to. It's not often that you really get sucked in the world an author creates like I did for Terraway.
I think my favorite thing about the whole series is that you never know what is going to come around the corner. Surprises left and right. You think you know which way the story is headed and it veers off.
This story is just ramping up. In this round, October finds herself getting closer to Captain Finn, as they travel through Terraway. Upon her return, she has to face changes in her existing relationships, and continues to struggle with her evolving feelings. All the while, she continues to battle her mental condition, which can sometimes cripple her. I am so drawn into the conflict within this character, and found myself tearing up more than once. Such a good read!
Warning: this is the last book in the series that is obnoxiously good and 5/5.
Definitely continue reading if you’re on the fence. While this book is 5 out of 5, the series overall is a 4 out of 5. And it’s a tearjerker so grab some tissues and continue on, however in my opinion the ending is trash so be prepared for that. (Its not as bad as I make it sound but I hated it) Read my review of the final book if you’re curious.
I'm giving this book 5 stars not because I loved everything about the story. I'm giving it 5 stars because it ripped me to pieces. At least once during the story I wanted to slap every character, even Ezra which is incredible. It is well written rollercoaster ride, you know the kind Von wants as a present.
Now that I have written my review I hope what Mary threatened to do won't happen...
So I'm not just leaving a review so Von won't die... Please Von don't die😭 Somebody please cut October a break. I wanna hug her...for half a second. Ok next topic... wait let me get some water... and a bathtub... and a damn pedicure!!!!! Daaaaaayuuuuum!!! I need Finn!! Freaking Hawt! Ok I'm done. Read the book.
This teeter-totter between October and Von are making me upset. When are they going to get over themselves? And October and Mason. I’m waiting for everyone to be one big happy family!
But really, October likes to preach to everyone else about their behavior, but sometimes she’s the worst offender. Sometimes I just really want to shake her.
This is a thrilling adventure, with strong, determined and courageous characters living in violent, oppressed environment. The individuals in this story have been given so much personality that it's impossible not to think of them as real people and hope that they find the happiness they struggle to obtain. I can't stop reading this very addictive tale. Great Story!!!!!
My heart broke all through this book. The FMC is so strong, but broken. The relationships she hopes for... I can’t stop reading. I have to know what happens next. 5 more books and then I’ll have to binge on rom-coms for a month to get over all the emotion.
This series has so many different characters, but is written in a way that it isn't overwhelming. Every page makes you more endeared to the main characters.
I am totally in love with this series and I kinda want her to choose all and I love Finn and his bad boy was and von wow and even mason October is one bad chick
So many logic problems - Completely lost the plot. Ocober has become a wet noodle - no longer has self control. Logic, Timelines, space - Author doesn't care.
If you or someone you love suffers from mental health issues and reading about this situation and the emotions and experiences suffered by a character relating to this area cause you difficulties, you may want to miss this book. There are a lot of issues raised around mental health in this book and it was heart rending stuff. This author captures the raw emotions of going through a mental break and reading about a character’s experience of that may hurt if a similar situation is still raw.
There are other issues around abusive behaviour, which has been a recurring theme throughout the series, but the thing that made me the most uncomfortable is that when the reason the abusive behaviour was taking place is removed how are you supposed to treat the abuser. Are you supposed to forgive them because it wasn’t the same person abusing you? I found this a very sticky area to read about.
I also came out of this book not particularly liking any of the men in October’s life, with the exception of Ollie, her brother. They are all emotionally absent and cause October a great deal of pain because of their weaknesses. Every time they hurt her October tries to understand and forgive and sometimes I want to shake her whilst shouting in her face ‘you deserve more than this’. In some areas October is tremendously strong, and it’s usually when she’s trying to protect others, but she does let people walk all over her, because she always puts other people’s feeling above her own. This frustration with October and the guys she is involved with is why I’ve dropped this down to 4 ⭐️, it’s not because it’s any less well written, it’s just I’m annoyed with the characters. I’m sure the next book will redeem them, it’s just sometimes you want the characters you love to be happier in every book.
