Complications on Ice

Rate this book
Fun-loving professional hockey player Benjamin “Benny” Perry is all about scoring, both on and off the ice. With his good looks and easygoing personality, women flock to him, which is great. It keeps things the way this Las Vegas Wolves forward likes—uncomplicated.

Too bad that’s all about to change.

When Benny decides to get back at his coach by pursuing his daughter, Eliza, who’s just returned to town under mysterious circumstances, complications abound. What begins as a simple conquest becomes anything but when Benny starts to really fall for Eliza.

But something is up.

Though Eliza seems to be as into him as he is to her, Benny senses she’s hiding something.

Or maybe she’s hiding someone.

Benny would never guess Eliza is hiding a baby—her baby. But it doesn’t end there. The father of her child just happens to be a hockey player too. And he’s Benny’s biggest nemesis.

Now he’s joining the team. Talk about complicated!

Sexy, sweet, funny and cute are the types of words I think of whenever I read a book from S.R. Grey, especially the ones in her Boys of Winter series. Who doesn’t love a story about a hot hockey playboy who becomes a reformed manwhore? I’ve loved Benjamin “Benny” Perry ever since I met him in Destiny on Ice. At one point, he was an addict and his drug of choice was alcohol. Oh and women. However, his drinking days were in his past thanks to meetings and his sponsor (a man who I hope gets his own book too!). The puck bunnies were another story, especially since he found it hard to let go of his “little black book”. Eliza was the coach’s daughter and was most definitely off limits. She had a bunch of secrets but they weren’t going to stop her from pursuing her latest crush - Benny. The chemistry and connection between these two characters was too hard to resist… complications be damned.

Benny was awesome. He was a fun-loving, overgrown softie with a heart of gold. I couldn’t get enough of him and his POV. It was strangely insightful, evocative, quirky, humorous and sweet. As for Eliza… She was a character I found it immensely difficult to get behind. I’m not a fan of people who play games, keep secrets, and lie in order to play their games and keep their secrets. I get that it was all to add to the angst of the story. These secrets were what built this story up and made for the basis of her character, however, the deceptions carefully and methodically drove me nuts. However, her biggest secret was also her biggest accomplishment and helped to give her character credibility. So I may not have loved her or liked her much, but I definitely accepted her for Benny’s sake.

If you’re a fan of any sort of sports romance, with a charismatic hero who is everything a book boyfriend should be and who you can’t help but fall for and a heroine that doesn’t hesitate to go after what or who she wants, then you’ll love Complications on Ice as much as I do. Take a chance on Benny. You won’t regret it!

4.5 stars!

What a sweet story!! This is S.R.'s third book in this series and it might be my favorite. It was a totally easy read with just enough angst. I loved Eliza even though she made me want to shake her a couple of times with her secrets... At the end of their story I had a big grin on my face and a little dreamy sigh.

Brilliant, sexy, smart and so much fun!

The Review:
I’ve been waiting for this one! I’ve loved all the books in this series so far, but I kept an eye out for Benny because he just drew me in since his on-page debut in the first book. And I was most definitely NOT disappointed.

Benjamin “Benny” Perry is a self professed ladies man and he likes to keep things uncomplicated. He loves his life and he loves being free, both on and off the ice. He’s good at what he does and he loves the limelight. He’s got a sordid past as he’d indulged a bit too much in the spoils of his fame, including alcohol, but he’s on the right track, taking his life back and trying to be the best player he can be. I loved Benny so much. He was a bit intense, but he was also fun, gentle and seriously hot. I loved his soft side, and I really loved his sexy side. He delivered some fantastically fun dialogue and kept me glued to the pages.

Eliza is the coach's daughter and has come back to town with mystery swirling around her. She’s also totally off limits, but Benny can’t help but be drawn to her, even though he knows there more to her than meets the eye. She’s in hiding, she has secrets and I’ll be honest, it took me a while to really warm up to her character. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the chemistry between Benny and Eliza and I enjoyed their story a LOT, and I loved that she knew what she wanted and wasn’t afraid to go after it. But at the same time, she was playing games and at first, I didn’t think I was going to like how she handled her situation. I still think there were better ways, but after all her history unfolds, you understand where she’s coming from and I began to really feel a connection to her.

These two together had amazing chemistry. I loved the bantering back and forth and all the fire they had when they were together. S.R. Grey really knows how to pull you from the reading chair and put you right in the scenes with her characters. You become part of the story and you connect with them in all the right ways. Benny was easy to love. Eliza was complicated, but ultimately, you couldn’t help but cheer for her in the end.

This read was sweet, sexy, full of life with a bit of angsts, secrets to uncover and a whole lot of flirty moments between the mains. I can’t wait to reread this one!

S. R. Grey scores a hat trick with the third book in the Boys of Winter series, COMPLICATIONS ON ICE.
NHL star, Benjamin “Benny” Perry, decides to get back at his coach by dating his daughter, Eliza Townsend. He doesn’t plan on falling for her and the complications that come along with it. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for new adult and adult audiences. It primarily takes place in Las Vegas.

We met Eliza in the previous book. I was looking forward to her story, and I was not disappointed. I like how the novels overlap. A lot of stuff was going on with Eliza that we had no clue about. She went through a lot. She grows up tremendously in a short amount of time. I like Benny. He is a former substance abuser. He matures throughout the story. He is a sweet guy. I didn’t really like that they both wanted to get to know each other before having met each other, but I like the way that the story played out.

The plot was clever and believable. There were numerous obstacles and twists that kept the story interesting. I like how Drew Chidders was incorporated into the book. I wouldn’t mind hearing his story down the line. The baby food diet was amusing. COMPLICATIONS ON ICE was skillfully written and flowed well. I had a hard time putting down this book. I’m looking forward to Dylan’s story, CAUTION ON ICE. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

I received an ARC in exchange of an honest review.

My review: https://www.facebook.com/books4girls/...

First of all, I would like to thank S.R. Grey for this ARC.

I’m in love with hockey romances and this one is really really good! After Brett and Nolan, it’s time to discover Benny’s story.

I found this tome less funny but no less interesting. Benny was intriguing me, we only had bits of informations about him in the previous books.

I liked to see him fall in love with Eliza. I suffered with her when her daughter’s father acted like an asshole. And I laughed a lot by imagining Benny, a tank, with a pacifier.

In brief, if you like sports romances with a solid plot and good humor, this book is for you! I look forward to reading the next book about Dylan.

* * * * * * * * *

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely love this series, but this one? It simply blew me away. The meaningful storyline. The unforgettable characters. Once again, S.R. Grey gives her readers a humorous yet remarkable story that is not to be forgotten.

Womanizer, Benjamin (Benny) Perry has decided to go after the coach’s daughter. Eiza. If you think that’s where the complications arise, you are sadly mistaken. Eliza’s sudden return to town is only the beginning of the mysteriousness about her. She harbors secrets. Soon enough, Benny realizes this is more than just getting back at his coach. Perhaps his heart is bigger than he’d like to admit.

Benny and Eliza had a strong and palpable connection. Despite his past, and her secrets, there is an invisible yet underlying thread that makes it hard for either one to deny what they have. I absolutely loved their banter. It came across as genuine. Real. The flow of the story was absolutely perfect as there was never a lull. I was either crying of laughter or so caught up in the storyline, time was never measured. I prefer stories that not only have a great plot, but ones that are character driven. S.R. Grey has this innate ability to allow you to become so engaged with her characters no matter how imperfect they may be. You grow with them. And most of all, you fall in love with them. Benny and Eliza were in no way immaculate characters, but their development was authentic and I without a doubt enjoyed them and their story.

What I loved most about this book is how the author perfectly balanced humor with sincerity. Benny and Eliza are flawed characters, but the author writes them with a skillful and unmistakable voice in which I found that their story easily resonated with me. While this (and the rest of the series) is a bit lighter than some of her other work, she still makes a point to produce a thought provoking and poignant story. Funny, witty, and clever, S.R. Grey’s talent knows no boundaries. Unique in it’s delivery, the storyline will have you turning the pages. I read it in all one sitting as I found it very hard to even put down. Well done!

Complications on Ice was a cute, forbidden romance. It’s the third of a series, but can be read as a stand alone.

Whole it was easy for me to get into the story, but it didn’t grab at me. Eliza was a bit immature at times. I had trouble falling in love with Benny. I really wanted to see more of Eliza with Ava, to see a bit more of her as a person. I feel like we saw deeper into Benny in regards to Ava.

Complications on Ice was a cute story about the bad boy of hockey falling for his coach’s daughter. The core of the story is cute, and funny at times. The pacing felt a bit jumpy, but overall, I enjoyed the story.

I wasn't a real fan of hockey because here in Portugal is not very common sport but after reading a few books about it I think I'm starting to love it... Lol
Like I've already said in my previous reviews it's always risky to read a book from a new author because, despite we know what is it about after reading the blurb, we can't guess what type of writing we will find out.
S. R. Grey is a new author to me and her writing is hot, simple and intense.
Complications on Ice is her latest release and it's the third book from the Boys of Winter series.
This book explores the lifes of Benny and Eliza.
Eliza had to get back home since she needed to get her life back on tracks. She used to love hockey, since her father coaches a team and all, but when she moved out she forgot the rush. Now that she's back she went to watch a game and when he sees Benny again, after so long, her former crush gets back with a vengeance. Lol.
Benny loves to play because he feels complete in the field. He's a recovering addict that made it out of rehab and now he just wants to focus on his career and play the game he loves.
He's super funny and with a heart bigger than the world and that sometimes can be a bad thing. When he sees the beautiful Eliza he knows that she's off limits since she's the coach's daughters but....
Oh boy... This two are hilarious. If there is a rule that needs to be break sign them up.
The plot is amazing and the interaction between the characters is beautiful, hot and so funny.
Secrets can be a deal breaker and if we want to keep trusting others or make others trust us we need to open up.
In this book we will find lies, deceit, distrust but also love, friendship and fellowship. The things we do to get revenge of someone someyimes can bite us in the arse and then you need to bite your tongue.
Love can get you when you least expect it and secrets can jeopardize it.
Oh boy the hot factor is through the roof...
S. R. Grey this is the first book from you that I've had the pleasure to read and I can assure you that I'll manage to read the others as well.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Complications on Ice is the third book in the Boys of Winter series. Each book is a standalone as each book features a different hot hockey player’s story! I loved Benjamin “Benny” Perry from the previous books. He has been a confidant for some of the other WAGs in this group and he has such a great heart! I was ecstatic when I had the opportunity to read his story!

Benny is not the coaches’ favorite player even though he is one of the best on the ice and he’s on the first line of his team. The coach has been through a lot with Benny with his stint in rehab and his reputation as a womanizer. He has a spiral binder as his little black book and even has a rating system! Benny had another run in with the coach and when he saw the coaches’ daughter he knew how he could get a dig at his coach. Go out with his daughter! Even though the team was warned that Eliza was off limits, Benny wasn’t swayed.

I met Eliza in the previous book and was excited to read her and Benny’s story. Eliza moved back home after having her baby Ava. She had been attending Georgetown in DC but she needed help with Ava and she certainly wasn’t getting it from her ex a professional hockey player. He wanted nothing to do with Ava or with Eliza anymore. He did pay child support, but that was it. Eliza despised him for not wanting anything to do with their daughter. The catch is she couldn’t tell anyone that he was the father or he would try and take Ava away from Eliza.

This book is my favorite so far in this series! It was sweet and steamy. The book was fast paced and kept my attention all the way through. There were secrets that were kept that really caused some problems and trust was put in question. There also were a few twists added in. It had all the feels and I enjoyed every page from start to finish.

If you love sports romance like I do then you will enjoy Complications on Ice.

The writing is good and I liked the humor Grey puts into her writing. This one just didn't connect with me. I really disliked the characters. Mainly Eliza, she's immature and a liar. She lies all the time, and she really got on my nerves. She's really irresponsible, and everyone in her life just let's her get away with it and take very little responsibility for her actions. She got pregnant by a jerk hockey player, the guy doesn't want anyone to know he has a baby, so he pays Eliza to keep quite about him being the father. She doesn't tell anyone who the dad is. She can't take care of the baby by herself, so she moves back in with her parents, and decides to keep the baby a secret from everyone. That right there bothered me so much, then when there's hints to her having a baby, she chooses to lie about it over and over again. Eliza's character really ruined the whole story for me, and I couldn't enjoy any connection between Benny and her. I also didn't really care for Benny. He was okay, but he was a little too blah for me. The book is mostly entertaining, and I like Grey's writing style, so that's why I gave it 3 stars, but overall, this book didn't work for me. I really liked the first 2 books in this series, so I'll keep reading the next book(s) in this series, and I like Grey's writing style too. I listened to the audiobook version of this story, and the narrator did a good job, so I enjoyed the listening experience, so I'd recommend it.

Very heartwarming story with a little fringe of angst ... that should be enough to give me the *happy sigh* I always crave in my romance fiction, but it wasn't. Two reasons ... as cute and laugh inducing Eliza's lies/cover ups were, they made me roll my eyes waaaaay too often and also, her maturity level was entirely too low for my taste.

I'm not saying this story wasn't well written, it just didn't hit the mark for me personally. It felt a little foolish on too many occasions. The thing is though (and this may sound weird) I over all enjoyed the story. I especially liked Benny's character. He was done very well. If you've read this series from the beginning then you'll understand he had some personal hurdles to jump threw and he did those amazingly.

So for me, I'm middle of the road with this one. I liked it but it didn't wow me. So 3.5 stars leaning towards 4 for me.

3.5 stars story
5 stars narration

Overall, I enjoyed this next installment in the Boys of Winter series by SR Grey, but there were a few things that kept me from loving it. I think I just had a hard time connecting with and liking the heroine, Eliza. I understand that she is young, but some of her behavior was just ridiculous. She continually lied and no one ever seemed to call her out on it and to make it worse, they enabled her. She seemed more interested in getting the attention of our hero, Benny, than actually taking care of her daughter and getting her life in order. She did get better towards the end and I really tried to look past her immaturity, but overall I was just not sympathetic to her.

description

Benny on the other hand really surprised me in a good way. I thought his instalove with Eliza was a bit much, but overall I liked that he was taking responsibility and making positive changes in his life. He readily admitted that he would be battling his demons and past for the rest of his life, and didn't back down or make excuses. He was proactive in his recovery and I really respected that. Was he perfect? Of course not, but he was real and honest. Something that I could not say about our heroine.

Tracy Marks did a fabulous job narrating and I enjoyed her performance. She has a great male voice and I loved her as Benny. She definitely brings a lot of emotion and feeling which helps enhance the story. Even though I wasn't a fan of Eliza, I really enjoy the author's writing and will continue on with the series. I also liked that this book ran concurrently in time with the previous book about Nolan and Lainey. It was fun to get an alternate view of those events.

Benjamin Perry has an addiction and his new addition is names Eliza Townsend .. but she is off limits since she is Coach Townsend's daughter ..

When Eliza moved back to Vegas know one knew who she was and she wanted to keep it that way .. school and family was the only thing on her mind except for the little crush she had on Benny. When they finally meet for lunch the draw to each other was strong .. could they afford to hide there relationship ??

We all know that secrets and or lies could get in the way of a relationship and when they are found out they can also be devastating .. even when Benny wants more and Eliza isn't sure she can give more until she can tell him ALL of the things she has been hiding. It never seems to be the right time and them BAHM it all goes down the drain .. unless one little girl can get them ALL to see life is to short for denial !!

The twist turns and betrayal in this installment are mind blowing when you find certain things out !!

Benny and Eliza are meant to be with each other if they can just TRUST each other .. I loved them !!

I was pulled right into this story. The story has pain, suspense, and heartbreak.

This is Eliza and Benny’s story. Benny is a hockey player who is also a player off the ice. He has woman falling all over him. When his coach starts messing with him he seeks revenge by going after his daughter. But it backfires in a big way. He was supposed to get Eliza to fall for him but really, he is the one falling. But secrets have a way of coming out. So, when both of their secrets come out will it be the end of anything they had together. When her secrets come out it is huge and complicates everything. Can they handle the secret being out or will it add a new complication to both of their worlds? Add in a ex that is his nemesis and things are about to get out of hand.

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book.

Heroine is a liar and hides her baby from everyone. What mother hides her baby? Maybe if the child was in clear and present danger I could understand. But it wasn’t the case here. Immature, liar, sleazy.

A fun, smoking-hot hockey romance. You have Benny, a recovering addict and notorious womanizer player with a big heart. Eliza, a young woman keeping secrets and trying to keep her life together after moving back home. I loved Benny from the beginning; I wasn’t a big fan of Eliza, though as the book progressed she grew on me. Once again, this author has given us a fun, sweet, but hot read amongst hockey action. I like how Grey shows their growth. Both Benny and Eliza are definitely better people by the end of the story. Only thing that took away from the story for me was the silliness of some of Eliza’s explanations, especially the pacifier.

I have always liked Benny in other series, now that I have read his book I like him even more. Benny is not only caring, kind and sexy. He's down to earth and forgiving. Those are some of best qualities in a man. Benny has them all and so my h more. No I was impressed with bunny directory, but he's also professional hockey player so I guess that's norm not sure lol. Eliza wow she's lucky Benny was such a good guy, cause one lie ok but multiple not every man would stick around. Now as for drew I don't I want more of him I think he could be good guy deep down maybe I'm right maybe in wrong will see.

I've been curious since it was hinted at in book two Benny and Eliza would be paired. Though I didn't know yet about the baby then I had a feeling that's why or something big she suddenly uprooted. Since the basic story is given in the blurb a summary wouldn't be too helpful so I won't add that. Knowing Benny was a player I wondered how this would play out. It plays out rather fast and smooth until that whole snag with the baby daddy.

My first impression of Eliza before she seemed nice enough. But here in her PoV getting to know her, I can see that she's young and it showed. Was not her biggest fan at the start but she grew on me. She had the not serious vibe at the start. I don't know why she was more focused on her crush on Benny than her baby and moving somewhere starting over. I get she had to deal with secrecy and all but I think telling her parents would have a smart move in the scheme of things. You know so her dad would have a heads up on the new player on his team. I mean she made a lot of mistakes in regards to the paternity stuff but I'm sure her dad can keep it under wraps at least or tell him what's up with the deal. She's afraid of the guy not sure why.

So Benny as I knew before as super laidback but he did not strike me as an recovering addict or maybe I forgot. I know for some reason he hid it well but he had a couple of bad habits that remain his womanizing and donut obsession. I think he was lax about things more than he should have but it works for him. His story goes along parallel to Nolan. While his initial plan of revenge by dating the coaches daughter changed a lot along the way. It evolved quickly and as surely.

So moving on what frustrated me the most was Eliza being hypocritical that Benny had his own secret when in fact she was hiding the fact she had a kid for a long time and baby daddy's identity. Yes I know she can't say for reasons that I think can be resolved but I guess she was scared but as the title goes. So it's basically dealing with the falling out of that. I do note some parts were dealt with easily which is also a good thing in a way. They both grew up and realized stuff in the course of the book which saved it for me.

Entertaining story and a lot silliness in between. Enjoyable enough and low angst despite the title. Of course I still want to know the other guys on the team stories to come. I do like my hockey sports romance so this is still win even with slight bumps along the way. Can I just say either SR Grey predicted well what with the a new Las Vegas NHL franchise just established this is pretty golden heh.

*4.5 Addicted Chocolate Eating Donut Stars*

This is book three in The Boys of Winter Series and I have read all of them and I have to say this one is my favorite. The writing and the sports. I love hockey. Best sport ever. That is one the things I love best about S.R. Grey, she includes the game. You feel like you are there with them in the arena and can feel all the emotions. Now, I say this is my favorite so far which should be surprising because there are lies, deceit, omissions and false intentions. Then you have a player with a big heart, and a woman trying to keep her life together after moving back to Vegas. Then you have some humor as well. Funny hockey meme texts. So many worthwhile elements to give this book or series a whirl. I was hooked from the moment I opened this book until the last page. I loved Benny and Eliza. Let's not forget that Eliza’s dad is Benny’s coach. Yes, there is that. Oh, and all his players have been warned to stay away from her.

You have Benny, the forward on the first line. He is a great player and he knows it. He is also humble to a point, and a big player with this enormous and funny addiction to chocolate donuts. He is also a recovering addict out of rehab and ready for the new season. When the couch starts to ride him, he wants to get back at him. What better way than to nail the coaches off limits daughter. What he doesn’t count on his her being a great friend and someone he can talk to.

Eliza is back home in Vegas. She has had a bump in the road. To get back on track she moves back and is going to start classes. At the urging of her mother who she believes may think she no longer likes the game. She attends her first hockey game and sees Benny. Now, she already knew who he was because of her father being his coach but has had a crush on him. So whats a girl to do? Well, she takes her mother up on the offer and goes to the game. Her mom is hoping after staying inside and being a recluse now she will make a friend and she does in Lainey.

These two together are fun. They are the biggest rule breakers of all. Some of the things Eliza tells Benny and the lengths to keep her secrets are hilarious. Benny believes them. These two have chemistry no doubt. Benny is actually a great guy even though he was a player and there are times I wanted to smack them both. Though I have to say that Eliza took that prize the most in my book. They are having fun times together and getting to know each other and seeing where this goes. Benny feels something isn’t right in the whole situation. Then when you think things are ok complications arise.

Can these two overcome everything and admit the truth and get it all out there? Do you like sexy gorgeous hockey players? Do you love a man addicted to chocolate donuts that will do what he has to to get them? Me too, so read this book. Have fun and be sucked in like I had said.

Eliza is a single mother who has to keep her baby on the downlow, so other than her parents, no one knows that she has one. Her dad is coach of the professional hockey team, Las Vegas Wolves, and so when she needs some extra help, she moved home. Benjamin 'Benny' Perry is a star player on the Wolves, and is all about scoring on and off the ice. And since women throw themselves at him all the time, he enjoys hooking up with them, so there aren't any complications. Lately, his coach has been busting his chops, so he's decided that he's going to get him back by hooking up with his daughter, Eliza, especially since Coach made it clear that none of his players are allowed near her. Eliza, in turn, wants Benny in the worst way, and as they start spending time together, neither saw the quick developing feelings happening, not to mention there's still the secret baby in the wings. When he finds out, will he still take a chance on them? I'm a HUGE fangirl of the brilliant S.R. Grey, and for whatever reason, I've come fashionably late to the Boys of Winter party, and I could kick myself. Especially since I LOVED LOVED LOVED Complications on Ice so much, and am already needing more! Eliza and Benny were absolutely fantastic together, with chemistry off the charts explosive, which when ignited, well, my kindle nearly melted. She was a great heroine that kept me laughing so hard that my stomach hurts now, and Benny was yummy. However, he did make some decisions that I wanted to junk punch him about. And the colorful cast of secondaries only added to the depth and humor. There were a few twists & turns that some I saw coming, while one shocked more than one loud f-bomb out of me. I CANNOT WAIT to catch up on previous books, plus the ones still to come! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

I thought Complications on ice is a really good read even though the characters did frustrate me at times found it enjoyable . This would be book three in the Boys of winter series but my first story I read by S.R Grey and I'll be going back to read the first two in the series ,don't worry if you haven't read them either you wont be lost Complications on Ice can be read as a standalone for me I just want to to read Destiny on Ice and Resistance on Ice because characters that are in them are mentioned and I can't wait to read books 4 . Eliza and Benny are written very well together they have the same since of humor , love for hockey , both hiding something , and the sex between them is really steamy . Benny is hilarious but also gullible one scene just had be dying it involves him trying to curb his donut obsession just wow and his conversations with his teammates and sponsor I hope to see more of that character by the way . I'm a little iffy with how I feel about Eliza she's funny , great mom , could come up with entertaining lies , and has interesting conversations with judgey fish but the thing that kinda got on my nerves is how long she kept her secret and when she got mad at the hero for hiding something but that is my only complaint . Can't wait to read more by this author she really knows how to draw the reader in to the story and fall for the characters not only the hero and heroine but the secondary characters plus hockey is one of my favorite sports genres .

Secrets will always be revealed, no matter how much you try. Eliza Townsend still does not want to come clean to Coach T and her mom about who is Ava's father. She knows she has made mistakes and now is ready to straighten out and accept the responsibility of being a single mom. The baby's father is a hockey player for an adversarial team and besides that, the only way he will pay child support is if Eliza keeps his secret from everyone! Not only is she keeping this secret from her parents, but she has not come clean with anyone that she has a brand new baby at home.

Benny is one of the star players for the Wolves. The fact that Coach T rides him hard during practice is cause for stress. Benny does not realize the Coach is just trying to push him to achieve his full potential. Instead, he reacts to rough treatment by resenting the fact that Coach singles him out for more punishing training. As a recovering addict, he has to learn to manage his stress level better and this situation is not helping. So he comes up with the brilliant idea to date Coach's daughter Eliza just to mess with him. Little does he know all the complications this will bring to his life!

This is a wonderful depiction of current topics affecting young adults as they mature. Addiction, single parenthood, ambition, survival, and final the maturity that comes with the acceptance of responsibility for the welfare of others.

I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I thank the author for sharing a copy with me.

I just love this series. We met Benny in the first book and we got to know him more in book 2 so I really wanted to read his story.

Benny has many issues, many addictions and is trying very hard to stay on the straight and narrow. He’s funny, hot and genuinely an all around nice guy.

We met Eliza in book 2 and she and Lainey become fast friends. She is sweet and full of life but she has some secrets of her own.

When they meet there’s an intense attraction. Even though, Eliza is off limits to all the players being that she’s the coach’s daughter, Benny is determined to hook up with her, mainly to stick it to the coach who’s been giving him a hard time. His plans soon change when they start spending time together and really getting to know each other. Benny finds that Eliza is just the type of girl he needs. Eliza is determined to make it work with Benny in spite of the secret she’s hiding. Her fears that Benny might break it off with her if he finds out has her on edge. The road is a tough one, full of obstacles, if they want to be together. Can they make it?

This story, like the others, is full of twists and turns. S.R. Grey’s writing is wonderful. The characters go through struggles and always fight their way through. It’s a great ride the reader gets to experience as well. Every story is a standalone and exciting in their own way. I highly recommend this series.

I voluntarily read an ARC of this book.

A baby food diet and an addiction to donuts are just the tip of the iceberg in S.R. Grey’s next standalone in her Boys of Winter series. In Complications on Ice, a hockey star and womanizer go after the one girl considered off limits.

Eliza Townsend has recently moved back to Las Vegas to live with her parents. Her father, the coach of the city’s winning hockey team the Wolves, has made it clear to both her and the team that she is off limits to them. That doesn’t stop Eliza from pursuing her crush on Benjamin “Benny” Perry, though. The only problem, she’s keeping secrets. Not the least of which is that she has a daughter. The real secret isn’t just that she has a baby, but who the father is.

Recovering addict and ultimate womanizer, Benny starts his relationship with Eliza as a way to get back at Coach for riding his butt. As he gets to know her though, he finds something that has been missing from his life, love. His past and her secrets keep them from making a complete connection with each other. Sometimes love isn’t enough to overcome the lies, and sometimes it’s the only thing powerful enough to push past them.

This girl was tattooing my heart, leaving her mark. And the ink was f***ing spreading.

Benny and his donut addiction had me giggling like a schoolgirl. The fact that getting a donut was an emergency was absolutely hilarious to me. Plus when Eliza makes up the baby food diet and says a pacifier will help curb cravings, I had everyone staring I was laughing so hard. Her lies were creative, but I honestly can’t believe that Benny bought them. So, confession time, while I loved Benny from the beginning, I found Eliza annoying and childish. As the book progressed though she redeemed herself and I found myself relating to her and some aspects of her situation. Completely smitten!

I give this FOUR donut craving stars!!

Book 3 in the Boys of Winter series was filled with lots of secrets, tension, and drama. Benny and Eliza have instant chemistry from the moment they meet, but they both have secrets and demons they're dealing with. The story as these two navigate the big reveals and the aftermath is one that had me very involved and anxious to see what was next.

Benny is a character that I've gotten to know more about from previous books and have been a fan of. This book just gave me more insight to an awesome character. He was sometimes funny, often forgiving and generally seemed like a good guy despite his vices both past and present. One in particular I found to be very silly and added more to my things to like about him.

Eliza was a different leading lady from the previous 2 in a lot of ways. She didn't come in needing to learn about hockey, what with being the coach's daughter. She was a single mom and a new one to boot. And she was still very young, the youngest of all so far. I think that was the biggest difference for me, getting used to the 21 year old mentality and outlook on things.

But all in all I ended up enjoying this story and I feel like it really just kept picking up steam and interest as it moved along. It had a great ending for me and I will still be looking forward to Dylan's story next.
