Remington Kane

Remington Kane is an American author that writes action-packed thrillers. The author might be unfamiliar to some people because Remington Kane is actually a pseudonym for Donald Wells.

Donald Wells has garnered a reputation for writing darker and somewhat serious novels about killers. The author was born in New Jersey. He never really left and has since made a home there. Like most of his peers, Donald Wells was an avid reader as a child.

He spent many an hour devouring every book he came across. And it wasn’t long before he began to yearn for the chance to write. Like many aspiring authors, Donald Wells knew he had the capacity to tell stories. However, he was a little hesitant to venture into such uncharted waters, not only because he didn’t know where to start with regards to writing a book but also because he didn’t have confidence in his own ability to produce compelling fiction.

Again, like most notable authors, Donald meandered about for a while. Rather than going into publishing the first chance he got, Donald tried his hand at various odd jobs. He worked as an insurance salesman, a Real Estate Sales person, and even a Retail manager.

The jobs, though seemingly meaningless in the grand scheme of things, did wonders for the author’s writing capabilities. Whether he was driving trucks or cleaning floors, Donald gained insight into the workings of the world.

He met unexpected people and heard their intriguing stories. He came across numerous strange encounters and even participated in some of them. He essentially dipped into so many unique aspects of life that it came as no surprise that he had more than enough stories rattling around his head when it finally came time to write his first novel.

Not that many authors can claim to have been offered a chance to act as bodyguard to a drug dealer. Since getting his first book sold, though, Donald has finally settled in his career. The author loves writing novels and there is nothing he else he would rather be doing. The fact that he has found a way to make money out of his passion makes him one of the luckier individuals in the world.

By the time Donald Wells began writing as Remington Kane, he had already become established as a novelist with numerous thrillers under his name. However, writing as Remington practically took over his life.

This is because Donald has achieved more success writing as Remington Kane than he did producing novels under his real name. Kane is best known for the Tanner series of novels. Tanner is a hit man who accepts a job to take out a mob boss.

When he is betrayed and thrown into prison, Tanner thinks of little else besides getting revenge. And once he finally gets his freedom, the hit man becomes a one man army, engaging in a brutal way against a crime organization known as the Conglomerate.

Each new book sees Tanner raising the stakes by finding a new target that will sting the Conglomerate in ways they couldn’t possibly fathom.

Remington Kane has been praised for the Tanner novels because Tanner is such a refreshing hero. The protagonist is so average physically, devoid of the exaggerated traits that most action heroes seem to bear. If not for his natural fighting and survival instincts, one would be hard pressed to tell Tanner apart from any other ordinary man on the street.

Book Bub is great, each day books for 99 pence. This book was below was one of these books, disadvantage, read the book enjoyed the book, but read the first book by this author and it's Number 16 in the series!!

So do I read the first 15 or carry on with the next book, Number 17?

From REMINGTON KANE The author of The TANNER Series TO KILL A KILLER - A TANNER Novel - Book 16.

What I have noticed is how many books Remington Kane has wrote, lots of books, and I did enjoy this book, looks like another series of books to read.

Although not quite as good as some of my favourites David Baldacci's Will Robie, Tom Wood's Victor The Assasin, Ben Coes's Dewey Andreas, Mark Dawson's , Mark Greaney's Gray Man, maybe not as serious as the above characters, a little softer, maybe more human, maybe not so much detail about his weapons, his planning.

But still a very enjoyable, fast paced action film, with a rather nasty character in Maurice Scallato.

A guessed one twist completely wrong, which was good, but very entertaining.

If you can buy into the premise that professional assassins walk among us (and I do), you'll enjoy this book. I haven't read the previous 15 books, but apparently the designation "Tanner" is passed down from one American assassin to the next, whom he finds and trains to replace him.

In this book, Tanner #7 (aka Cody Parker) is pitted against Maurice Scallato, the latest in a long family line of assassins. Tanner is accompanied by Sara Blake, a former FBI agent, who once tired to kill him, but is now an ally and potential love interest. They travel from California to Italy when Scallato breaks out of a local hospital and escapes to his hometown.

Lots of intrigue and a fast-paced, engaging plot. I finished it in two days, despite having to work.

The author needs to learn that adding an apostrophe and an s doesn't make a last name plural. For example, the family name Scallato should be pluralized as Scallatos, not Scallato's. That drove me crazy!

In To Kill A Killer, we find Tanner on a mission. His mission is to seek and kill Maurice Scallato, the Italian assassin who is plotting to kill him because there’s only room for one greatest assassin and Scallato wants that to be his position in life. Both Tanner and Scalatto think they are the best and there can only be one “world’s greatest assassin.”

With Sara Blake, Tanner’s once sworn enemy, at his side in this joint mission, he searches for Scalatto, to kill him before he can kill Tanner #7. We know Tanner will be the victor. That is a given, but will Sara survive the mission? A woman who once swore to kill Tanner has become Tanner’s partner, friend, and lover. If she doesn’t survive the mission, how will Tanner handle her demise?
Time and time again, Scalatto escapes Tanner’s grasp, as do Tanner and Sara escape his well-devised ambushes. This is a rip-roaring, globe-spanning roller-coaster of a thrill ride. A genuine page turner. A book that you won’t be able to put down even when life forces you to. The nonstop action will keep you glued to the edge of your seat.

Tanner and Scallato are both assassin, but Scallato is the villain in this story. He has no morals, no ethics, and will do anything to survive, to become the world’s greatest assassin. He proves that at the beginning, when he kills his older brother, during an assassination to become his father’s successor, in the Scallato line of assassins. Tanner has a moral code he lives by, he will not kill the innocent. Will that code in the end cost him his life or Sara’s life?

This is one of those books where we, the reader, will not know the outcome until the very last page. When the last confrontation arrives... well, you will just have to read the book to find out what happened and how it happened.

I don't know how an author can create a character that I loathe so much, but Mr. Kane has. 'To Kill A Killer' has so much action, thrilling scenarios, great and evil characters and some very creative scenes. Tanner and Sara have definitely come a long way. I actually really like her now. She has earned my trust again. I have grown to love Tanner and what he stands for, yes, even an assassin can have core beliefs that are admired. But then you have a twerp like Scallato. Man, I hate that man with a passion. So good job Mr. Kane. I look forward to loving and hating more characters of your imagination.

#16 in thriller series; there is a current Tanner who is the continuation of a series of men. All are trained to kill. Here he's facing off against another killer, descended from a lineage of them. Any questions about who will win?

There's an awful lot of backstory (with 15 previous books) including how his current lover was once a sworn enemy, and so on. But the writing isn't good enough to merit buying more Tanner novels, whether it's to get caught up on the past or see what's next.

I've read better.

Suspense All the Way

Tanner is a most amazing assassin. In this book he is matched against an assassin who believes he is the world's best. Their duel takes place in many countries, and the result is always in question. The style of writing makes for easy reading, and the narrative moves at a rapid pace. The characters are realistic with individual quirks. In the midst of the excitement a romance develops with Sara that influences his ability to function. This book is impossible to put down.

Really Really Good!

There can only be one,and to be the best you have to beat the best. The writer gives us a story that asks you to look inside yourself and decide who you want to be and what you want to be. The more we get to see of Tanner the more we like this side of him Also that the main character does not deny who he is and what he is. The relationship between Tanner and Sara to me comes off as convenient and I don't think I like this ,but I could be proven wrong. Overall a very good addition that's going to leave you gasping.

Maurice Scarlotta is the latest in a line of Scatlotta assassins. He killed his brother to achieve that goal. Now, his father lives in a nursing home, his wife and kids don't see him often ehough, his mistress loves him, and he is hiding and recovering from his injuries.
Tanner is searching for Scarlotta, and his girl is with him. She despised him previously, but they have formed a bond that is growing day by day.
Will they find Scarlotta before he finds them?
As usual, a lot of action that will keep you reading.

Assassin

This book traces the exploits of two world class assassins and their rivalry. While both kill, one can de described as a gentleman killer..silly as that sounds. The story of their life and death chess match plays out, the characters are well developed with some interesting twists. It is obvious that one of them must die...which one comes only at the very end. Well written and very exciting for the reader. Definitely a good read.

Maurice Scallato and Tanner are the best assassins in the world but there can only be one. Scallato has vowed to killer Tanner and Tanner isn't going to look over his shoulder, so they go on the hunt for one another. There are a lot of twists and turns in this story but the end was awesome. I enjoyed this book from the get go. I knew you will too. I could see this a movie it was that good. Characters well developed along with a great story line. So read the story to see who is the best....

Tanner finds love.

I gave this book five stars because as always I was surprised. Tanner hooking up with Sara was what I had hoped for. Now if they get married and have a baby would be cool. Cody and Sara should grow old and continue as the tanners. Now once again I'm looking forward to another Remington Kane book.

Didn't think I would even finish it, but....

WOW. Got book free and almost deleted because of the subject matter. However , this Author kept me engaged from the beginning. I was sorry I started it just before bed as it was hard to pause to sleep. First time in a while that I'm looking forward to reading more with these characters.

Worth the time

Ever get those books from bookhub and they slowly puke up and pretty soon you're trying to remember why you got it or what interested you at all. This was how I came across Tanner. He's the Saint, the Shadow and a little Bond. The author does keep you drawn into the story. I wiil probably lookup his other titles. Thanks

Two assassins

This is another great addition to the Tanner series and the KU library. It pits Tanner against an Italian assassin known as The Ghost and opens Tanner's eyes to the potential for a new relationship. I couldn't put it down and am looking forward to book 17.

Quick read

Typical Tanner story. And I’m not complaining. Lots of action. High body count. Glad to see that Tanner’s relationship is growing too. It’s a good series when we can cheer for the killer. Now officially number one in the world. Recommended

This one got off to a slow start for me; I almost put it down and walked away from it. I came back to it and found that the character became more likeable and the plot more acceptable, and in the end, I gave it 4.8 stars.

Anyways how i wish Hollywood can pick up on this book and bring it on the big screen. With Matt Damon as Tanner.

Just the way I like my assassins

This might be the16th in line but a first for me.
To say it was good doesn't give it enough credit.
It's a mastery of hunt and chase skill without a moment of boredom.
I'm probably in for the long haul in exploring more of the series.
