Heartbreaking really. My heart was heavy during most of this read. It was about Love, loss, and sabotage. All of the books in this series have a lot of history about Nantucket residents past and present. Of course, these characters are not real people, but maybe someone out there has a similar story.
Lin can see some ghosts and when they appear to her they need her help so they can pass to “the other side”. Lin had to do research to find out who the ghosts were and what they needed from her because the ghosts never speak.
The ending was a happy one for the most part. One person did suffer from mental illness and that affected his entire life and made him an angry being. His ending was not a good one, but the ghosts’ ending was.
Next book is the 7th of 15 and is called The Haunted Valentine.
A tragic love affair or an obsession or is it a mix of the two?
Great read. Renovating a lighthouse leads our heroine into a tale of murder, a lover story, broken hearts and minds. Who is jeopardising the renovations by under hand dealings that lead to injury and might end in death. A tragic triangle of love that spans years seems to be the answer. Can she and her cousin dig into the past so that today's culprit is stopped. Great plot with a slightly obvious culprit but one that will keep you reading until the end. The characters are just getting better and better with our two couples now firmly entrenched and into her gift of seeing ghosts.
Book 6 in the Lin Coffin mystery series has Lin trying to work out why the immensely sad ghost of a lighthouse keeper has appeared to her. Strange things are happening at the renovation of the lighthouse cottage and barn including dangerous sabotage. The story flows well with small pieces of the puzzle fitting together to eventually solve the mystery of the ghosts and connection to the sabotage. An enjoyable read.
I enjoyed this story tremendously. The author does a great job of describing the scene so you feel you are there. The story moved along at a rapid pace, with never a dull moment. The mystery was a good one, and the touch of supernatural phenomena was just right. I especially enjoy the relationships Lin has with Leonard and Anton, and the way the dog and cat are best friends.
Jeff gets a job working on restoring the lighthouse buildings and he tells Lin that Kurt asks if she world do the landscaping at the site. She sees a ghost on the lighthouse tower. She later sees another ghost a female who is soaking wet then this ghost helps to save her group from a raging storm by leading them to shelter. It helps that Jeff now knows about her seeing ghosts and helping find peace. A good story and characters.
I really enjoyed reading every one of the books in this series! The author does such a good job building the story line developing the suspension who...why...how. The characters are great and they work so well together you ( I ) really care about what is going to happen to them. I look forward to reading more of this author's books!!!!!
The lighthouse setting is really lovely, and I like how the mystery is also in the present and the ghosts guide Lin. I could tell the Lin wasn’t very good at figuring it out, she reached the right conclusion a bit late. But it was fun and I had a lovely time anyway.
I enjoyed this series and have enjoyed other books in other series by this author. The stories are "clean" with no offensive words or explicit sex and they include some paranormal experiences. These books are good for just an enjoyable read and, though there is mystery in the story, it is not oppressively dark or scary. Overall, I have enjoyed them.
Another great book in the J A Whiting Linda Coffin Mystery Book series. I love the chemistry between the two cousins, Lin and Vic and Liv's vision of ghosts and her reaction to them.
