Jaguar shifter, Mitchell & Wolf Shifter, Dean
Mitchell is the leader of the felines pack. Since book 1 of the series he has been looking for his the lost younger brothers who have grown up among humans. So far his men have discovered three of them, but they are still two missing.
Dean is the brother of the leader of the wolf pack, second born and not really an alpha wolf. He was born to serve.
Mitchell and Dean have already a history together before this book begins and they have a “thing” still going on when this book starts. The book mostly describes how the other will accept their mating. Cats and Dogs certainly DO mix!

Oh, my, Mitchell's story! Ever since I read the first book, I wonder when Mitchell will get his HEA too -- especially since he's the leader of the lost shifters pack and seems to have the world on his shoulders, being responsible for his pack and all.
I am a bit surprised when I read that Mitchell actually has a 'history' with the lover in this story, Dean, the brother of a Wolf pack. Not that I don't like Dean (in fact, I come to like him a lot), I sort of expecting a more detailed story about how Mitchell and Dean came together and what happened between them. Sure there is some nitbits of it by way of Mitchell telling the story to Cassie but I would love an elaboration in terms of flashbacks or something. Since Mitchell is the leader of the pack, doesn't he deserve a lengthier story?
Still I'm glad that Mitchell finally claims his mate. I think Dean is a good partner for him, he can help share Mitchell's burden.
I can't wait to read book #5 and wonder whose story it will be. I would love to read about Noah, I think he's a great character -- strong despite his hard life being a street hustler as well as being a kidnapped slave for over a year. Maybe he can be with Seth, the big blond guy who first appearance is in "Savage Awakenings" and is the one who saves Noah? Urgh, this series cannot be fast enough!

Quarto libro della serie “The Lost Shifters” di Stephanie Hecht, “Cattive intenzioni” ci racconta la storia di Mitchell. Chi ha letto i tre libri precedenti sa di chi sto parlando. Non è possibile dimenticare il capo indiscusso dei felini, il fratello che con ogni mezzo a sua disposizione ha dato vita alla ricerca che sta riportando i cuccioli dispersi a casa. Mitchell è il personaggio che tutti amano in un modo o nell’altro, perché senza il suo impegno nessuno dei protagonisti si sarebbe mai incontrato. Le sue spalle sorreggono un peso incredibile, ha sacrificato ogni cosa per la sua famiglia e finalmente veniamo a sapere quanto gli è costato davvero.
Dean è un personaggio che abbiamo già incontrato e che speravo sarebbe diventato importante. Sono stata contenta di vederlo ancora e poter leggere di lui. Il rapporto con suo fratello e il suo affetto per Mitchell sono alla base di ciò che lo spinge ad agire.

What I liked about this fourth book in the "Lost Shifter" series was to find out more details about Mitchell's background.
So far he's been a bit of an enigma, but in this book he gets to meet his own mate. Of course, Dean being a wolf doesn't help. The focus of the book is very much on advancing the larger story, and I missed some of the emotional intensity I liked so much in the first three books. This is still a very good story, though, and I wouldn't have liked to have missed it.

too short but an ok read in this series

I was super jazzed to get to this fourth installment of the 'Lost Shifters' series by Stephani Hecht because I really wanted to see Mitchell get rattled. *evil smirk* I thought it was about time that the leader of the feline shifters and the man who inspires the most fear met his match. And since Dean is second in a wolf shifter pack, he was definitely up to the challenge. Plus, cats and dogs. HA!
Dean was born second to Chris, the alpha of their pack, and while Chris is like their dad, hard, unemotional, and will do whatever he has to to get what he wants, Dean takes after their mother and allows his emotions to peek through and feels that family always comes first, no matter what. That is a sentiment Mitchell shares one hundred percent. Mitchell was thrust into the role of feline shifter leader way too early, on the night their parents were killed twenty years ago. Most of the time he second-guesses his leadership abilities, although no one else would ever know that, as Mitchell prides himself on being calm and confident, always.
And, well, well, well a surprise. It would seem that Mitchell and Dean have nightly Skype conversations and there's a whole lot to their relationship that no one else knows. Oh, I love a good intrigue. And since they're a feline and a wolf shifter, respectively, that's as far as their relationship can ever go, no matter that Mitchell will never have anyone but Dean, ever again. When Chris and Dean show up at the felines' HQ to get their "allies'" assistance in retrieving a lost wolf and what appears to be another brother of Mitchell's, it takes all of Mitchell and Dean's restraint to not let anyone see how they feel. The fact that Dean knows information that Chris isn't going to share with Mitchell and that might just get the feline killed and start a war between wolves and felines, is destroying Dean from the inside. Loyalty to family or loyalty to his love?
This was another good addition to the series and I was happy that Mitchell finally got someone for himself. It also set up a little of the background on Noah for his story which I'm looking forward to. I'm really enjoying this series!

June 15, 2010I have been waiting on this book it seem from the moment I read the first book in the Lost Shifter series. Why because this is Mitchell’s story – Mitchell is the big brother, the leader of the Jaguar shifters and for all intend and purpose the leader of the coalition of shifters that is slowly forming around him.
Still on the hunt for his missing siblings Mitchell is elated when he hears that there is news of one of his lost brothers, that news however comes from a source that Mitchell is not only wary of but knows that he has to have his guard up at all times.
Toss into that mix is the fact that his mate - Dean is related to this source and so it is really a bittersweet moment for Mitchell. Wanting to know as much as possible about his brother but on the other hand wanting the time with the man he knows is meant to be his, who also insist on choosing family loyalty over following his heart – is maddening for Mitchell.
Time is literally against them and Mitchell has to step up to the plate and do what he is best at – Lead. With the new info disturbing and sketchy at best he and his other siblings draw on their strengths to find the most advantageous of time to strike.
Dean is Mitchell’s Achilles' heel and while he is willing to do just about anything for him – Dean comes from a different set of standards and it takes some home trust and an ultimatum for him to get his ass into gear and man up to what life is all about – but, will Mitchell still be waiting for him when he make this revelation.
I really like CARNAL INTENTIONS alot, it does not follow the train of the other books in the series which was a good change in my opinion and hopefully it will set the trend for future books in the series.
Firstly Mitchell knows who his mate is and as such most of the guess work is already done for me. When Dean is initially introduced to me, he comes across as whiny and indecisive, but as the book progresses I saw that Dean is actually a strong character and Mitchell is actually very lucky to have him.
From the second book in this series there was a niggle in the back of my mind that someone must be orchestrating the rage against the shifter coalition and more over this feeling of a personal vendetta against Mitchell himself, so the fact that Ms. Hecht added more meat to the plotline was definately a welcome change.
The siblings are closer than ever and it was sweet to see them all living, working and sharing the pain and joys of finding another brother together.
Short and sweet was this book and as much as I wanted Mitchell to be with his love, I really liked the fact that the emphasis of this book was on the lost brother and his hopes and fear and his battle to stay alive to meet his family.
Bottom line
Hecht is only getting better and better with each book in this series and CARNAL INTENTIONS is without a doubt my favourite of the LOST SHIFTER series so far. All the smexing is still there but the entire books has a more mature feel to it. With the siblings mixing it up with their different personalities, I laughed out loud a time or two and my heart almost broke at some the darker scenes in this book.
With the possibility of betrayal and a constant worry about the future of the coalition, Mitchell has to keep his ear alert and his wits about him, however it is sweet to see him with Dean who he has waited a long time for and would have done anything for.

Definitely the best of the "Lost Shifters" novels so far. I love the fact that Dean and Mitchell already have a 'thing' going on, on the down-low. It's all well and good having couples that are brand new to each other, but there is something about reading about characters who have a history - whether good or bad - that sometimes just hits the spot.
The themes in this one are kind of hard to deal with for those who may be sensitive, especially to non-con, when dealing with a pair of minor characters. Nothing was overly detailed, although it was very obvious what they had to go through 'behind the scenes.' This makes for a very good and involved plot, but makes me wonder exactly how well Stephani Hecht will be able to handle the character's after care and recovery.
The dynamics between Dean's brother Chris left me a bit bereft. At first I disliked him, from the very first word, because of the way Dean views him. Dean himself doesn't hate him, far from it, just the description given makes his character distasteful, and the way he presents to Mitchell makes it worse. However the change at the end, especially the vibrant interactions with Cassie, made me wish I'd been able to read a few more scenes with him in it and gotten to know him better.

I think this is definitely my favorite book so far in this series. The 1st three books seemed to be exactly the same, but this one was a lot different. Mitchell and Dean were great together and I'm also still loving all the secondary characters and the storyline.
Can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Finally! The first book in the series that doesn't fall into the same formula of shifter-rescues-shifter-andfallsinloveatfirstsight.
This was my favorite book of the series so far. Mitchell, the oldest brother and Alpha leader of the Coalition of shifters, is finally featured. I was really pleasantly surprised at the way this book was so different than the others because Mitchell's love interest did not fall into the above formula. I don't want to give out any spoilers so I'll leave it at that.
Dean is the second born to his brother Chris who is the Alpha of their wolf pack. Chris will do whatever it takes to ensure the safety and survival of his pack. While Dean holds his loyalty to Chris and his pack above all else, when Chris comes up with a scheme and needs the help of the feline shifters, will his loyalty finally be tested?
I enjoyed this book and the plot a lot and I thought it did really well in furthering the overall plot of the series. I do wish that these stories were longer. I'm glad I bought the whole series on fictionwise with a 50% off coupon or else I might feel I wasn't getting enough words for my money.

Finally! Mitchell's story! I had such high hopes. Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed in the end. Why? Dean. Sorry, didn't like him. Didn't like his betrayal or the fact that Mitchell forgave him so easily. I get that Dean was loyal to his brother/alpha (Chris) and his pack but seriously, when Chris is looking to trick and use Mitchell? Um, that's sooooo not cool. Mitchell is the consummate alpha of the feline pack and it didn't sit well with me that he continued to love and defend Dean despite his betrayal and despite the fact that his feelings for Dean were seemingly not reciprocated.
Bottom-line: I had high hopes for Mitchell's story but his "mate" left me wanting.

Some things just don’t add up – like Dean’s assumptions regarding Mitchell. If they’ve been in nightly chat contact he should be aware of certain facts.
This isn’t the most intense or intricate in the romance department, maybe more of a filler volume to handle developments. Good enough for me. But, as I said, not hugely romantic. Although I do appreciate Mitchell’s steadfast devotion.
Also. Someone please check every single “you’re” in this book. About half of them should be “your”. It’s been going on for a while but here it reaches excessive range.
(As for the rating, it's a low 3 for me, so it may or may not tip down into 2.)

Stephani Hecht is a terrible writer. I don't feel like pulling any punches here, because to do otherwise would be a disservice to my fellow readers. These books are awful, but have their own compelling pull. I wanted to carry on to see what happened next, even though the writing was making me insane, the characters were all the same, and the sex was becoming incredibly redundant. It wasn't until I got to the third book based on Shane (seriously, again?), that I finally hit a wall and couldn't read any more. It was (sorta) fun while it lasted.

La brevità delle storie non sarebbe affatto un problema se i personaggi venissero presentati decentemente e ci fosse un vero e proprio sviluppo. Peccato, perché la storia alla base è avvincente e anche i protagonisti sono spesso interessanti.
Questi in particolare potevano dare molto di più. Chiunque abbia letto la serie e apprezzato un minimo la storia aspettava che Mitchell si innamorasse. Speravo venisse data un'attenzione maggiore alla sua storia e al suo compagno.

This book skimmed the surface of nothing. We don't learn anything new about Mitchell so what was the point of him having his own book? Doesn't make sense to me. I feel like the only use this book had in the series was rescuing the three/four lost shifters and Noah meeting Seth.
Poor Mitchell he needed a better story.

This review is for all of the Lost Shifters, Wayne County Wolves, and Assassin's Loyalty books since they are all interconnected and I read them back-to-back pretty much nonstop over a 10 day period. If I have anything to say about a particular book I'll add it under this bulk review. First, I'd like to mention these are more like novellas than books but they have the same underlying theme and pretty much continue where the last left off but with a different couple.
Everything starts out with the Lost Shifters. To summarize there was a war between the feline shifters and the raven shifters. 20 years or so before the first book there was an all out slaughter in which hundreds of feline homes were attacked and burned down all of the occupants believed to be killed. Turns out that the babies and toddlers that were assumed lost were not. They were hidden within the human foster care system for the most part. I won't say how because that'd be a big spoiler. In addition to foster care some kids were sold into slavery and that's where the whole assassin thing comes in. A couple of the main characters marry into the wolf pack so that's where those books come in as well.
Pros: Since the books are so short there are no long drawn out boring details or general angst. There's usually only one sex scene although it's normally long as hell. Which makes the fact some people shelved these as erotica confusing. I liked the world building and even though there were times I think a little more info might have been nice it never detracted from the story or left me confused. Most of the relationships were a sort of love at first sight thing. Or maybe lust or obsession? Despite this the shifters all seem adamant that's not a thing that happens. There wasn't one character I didn't like. My favorite character was Shane and he must have been the author's as well since he got a few extra books and a side series Shane's Chronicles. There's no big end battle or anything but the last book Baily's 9th Life does pretty much tie things up nicely. I think if I'd been reading the series when they were released I'd be a bit miffed because that book didn't come out until a few years later if you weren't reading the assassins books. Also, these books all have some really funny moments and/or dialog.
Cons: The last several books didn't appear to have been edited at all. If if wasn't for the fact that I was so invested in the overall story arc I would have quit reading them. Things like sent instead of scent and too instead of to they instead of them and random wrong words completely. There were also a couple of times that things were said/thought almost verbatim in different parts of a book as if the author forgot she'd already put that info in there already. At the start of the series, they state that all feline shifters are bisexual but at some point the author must have forgotten that detail because suddenly there are gay shifters and homophobia and all this hate. Which brings me to my next con, the themes of the different books started to repeat. Suddenly all these shifters had been thrown out of their previous pack or coalition or human home for being gay. And throughout this huge series of books there was only one straight couple. Like not even a straight friend or whatever. Even the females were all lesbians. It was just kinda unrealistic especially with the whole gay hate thing going on. Usually there's at least a few couples or friends or something on the periphery in gay romances especially in a world this huge. Which brings me to my final con, I had a hard time remembering who was who and what there story was after awhile especially if they weren't mentioned much in previous books. I wish there had been some sort of glossary to review.
Despite the cons, I would still recommend these books. All-in-all I really enjoyed them and was dreading the end although the editing in the last few books really had me also looking forward to the end if I'm being honest.

Its been a while since I read the last book so It was lovely to jump back into this world, see how all the characters and relationships are developing along with continuation of search for the brothers.
Mitchell is the lead here and I've adored him for ages, so it was lovely to finally see his romance and Dean was a perfect fit. They both are very committed to family and their people, so can understand each others views although it has affected their relationship.
I liked how they finally talked about their life's and Dean was able to make a decision, although I do think it was rather sudden and would have loved too of seen more of their relationship development. As we mainly learn through their talks and history then actual showing it, as the focus is very heavy on search for Joel/Noah in this book.
I adored getting to see Noah though and his strength, his been through so much so I liked that we got to see him safe and can't wait for the next book for his romance.
Overall I enjoyed this book a lot, but as usual wish were a little longer to explore more of the romance although I'm sure will see more of them in the next one.

Comme pour les précédents opus, il est vrai que j’aurai voulu quelques pages supplémentaires. Et pourtant, il m’est impossible de dire que je ressors de ma lecture déçue. C’est même tout le contraire. Ce quatrième est de très loin mon préféré ! Entre une intrigue captivante très bien menée. Une plume addictive. Un fascinant univers paranormal que je kiffe de plus en plus. Des personnages attachants malgré les apparences. Et enfin une bonne dose de tension, d’action, de rebondissements, d’humour, de manipulations, de passion et d’émotions vives. Je me suis littéralement régalée. Et avec ce nouvel élément fort surprenant, il me tarde de savoir ce que Stephani Hecht va me réserver dans la suite à venir… Je sens que cela va être d’un tout autre niveau…

Dean was an asshole making Mitchel wait all that time. For what? he never did give a good enough reason. Instead he betrayed Mitch at every turn for no reason. Plus he was an asshole to Keegaan in the previous book and now suddenly he is a nice nurturing guy. Bullshit

An ok read.
I've had a hard time with Mitchell previously in the series, not knowing if I liked him or not. This book was what it took for me to actually like him.

This is book 4 in the shifter series and it’s Mitchell’s story, the alpha of the pack. Chris, the alpha wolf, and his brother Dean come to Mitchell to offer them information on one of the lost brothers who has been badly beaten and abused and is to be auctioned off. You find out that Dean and Mitchell had a thing 3 years ago and have been having an on-line affair since as Dean refuses to leave his pack and brother. Chris is not being quite honest about giving them the information out of the goodness of his heart, and while Dean can’t tell Mitchell what’s up, he warns him enough for him to figure it out. Finally Mitchell says he can’t do it anymore, Dean has to choose. To be honest most of this book seemed to be about their brother Noah and what he went through, some of it I had to read with one eye shut because it bothered me so, and the rescue efforts. I think he’s going to need some serious therapy in the next book. Because it kind of jumped into Mitchell and Dean’s relationship there wasn’t the build-up you get as they had 3 years of history, but I was happy Mitchell got someone to maybe smooth his life a bit under the heavy cloak of leading everyone. Looking forward to the next book and I thought seeing Cassie maybe find someone was nice too even if I’m not into m/f these days. It was a nice touch.

Book 4 in the lost shifter series - this is a little darker than the previous 3 books. Chris, a wolf alpha, and his brother Dean come to the felines with evidence that Noah, another of Mitchell's brothers is being held by a group of wolf shfters, and is to be sold as a slave. Part of the proof includes a video showing Noah being sexually assaulted.
Mitchell doesn't believe Chris has told him everything. Although Dean wants to help Mitchell, pack law prevents him telling him everything. Also Dean and Mitchell were lovers, are still interested in each other, but are trying to hide it - wolves and felines don't mix.
It was interesting to see more of Mitchell in this one, and I liked seeing him with Dean.
The parts where Noah is being abused or recalling abuse are unpleasant - Noah has not had a nice life. Despite this, he hasn't given up. The story also introduces several other young shifters - Noah had been part of a small pack of assorted shifters that were all captured at the same time.

It was certainly a nice book to read and good to some characters again and get introduced to new ones. It was good to see a different side to Mitchell, because he's quite the presence in the other books, but you only get to really see him as the leader.
The only real criticism I have is that the story seems a bit clinical, but I'm guessing that may be because Mitchell is a hard character to writing.
In that respect I almost felt there was something missing to Mitchell & Dean's story because it feels like it starts in the middle of something and you didn't get the beginning.
It also seems (but that is more my thing than a criticism) that Mitch & Dean's story is backdrop to that of Noah. Or maybe the books should have been a looooooooooooooooooooooot longer and then I could have enjoyed all characters more ;-)

I love the Lost Shifters Series.
Wonderful characters with a lot of personality and each more unique than the other, great and loving couples where some of them are polar opposites.
But, what I really find sad about these books is the poor editing job done. It annoys the reader and the language fanatic in me to such a degree that I have to grit my teeth.
When you are an editor, you have to know the difference between your and you're and too many times do I see that exact mistake in this series.
Other times there's a letter missing, so the word means something completely different and other times again, the characters suddenly switch place for a short amount of time.
Again, you have to get these mistakes, because the author can sometimes stare herself blind on her own stories and not pick them up.

I love M/M shifters, which is a bit of a surprise to me, given that I wasn't a big fan of shifters in M/F romance and I was always more of a Team Edward girl than Team Jacob. But give me two hot gay werewolves or were-whatevers and I'm all over it.
And I like these books. The sex is hawt and I like the way the stories bleed into each other, creating the one, big, overreaching story arc. But it's been a while since I read the third one in this series, and maybe they need to be read closer together to get the full effect of that arc, because I felt like I was missing more than I was getting from this story. There was a lot going on for such a short book and I think I would have liked to read more about Mitchell and Dean.
I enjoyed it enough though that I'll make sure to move on to the next one before too much time has passed so I can follow all the other threads.
