Now that best friends Knockout and CanCan are on separate derby teams, their paths go in different directions, with the pressure putting a strain on their relationship both on and off the track.

This comic book follows Knockout and CanCan who are best friends but on different roller derby teams. They both have different paths which bring them both in different directions in life. Because their relationship is rocky it really puts pressure on them on and off the track.
This Issue wasn't as good as the first one. I enjoyed it but the plot was a little confusing and all over the place. It seemed like the story was missing something. I really enjoy the illustrations and all the awesome colours. There is a lot of characters but they all have a little something that is likeable about them. I'm pretty sure I will keep reading to see what comes next. I really want to like this comic. Right now for me, it's just okay and I see potential.
More of a 3.5 star rating but I gave it 4 stars because it gave a bit of information about roller derby. It also showed the main 2 girls struggling to find balance with everything, as well as signs that their friendship may weaken at some point.
Derby newbies, Knockout and CanCan continue their story in the second installment of the series. Life is tough for the gals when they are put on separate teams. I love the vibrant art style of Veronica Fish.
This book was good, though hard to follow at times. I think I might have found out more enjoyable if I knew more about the sport. I did like the art style and the characters were interesting!
Take the screenplay of Whip It! and strain until excess flaws are evened out. Adjust recipe to include a plotline not driven by teenage angst and first love. Save those for another recipe. Add in two strong female characters with a strong friendship and love of derby. For good measure, add a dash of interesting supporting characters and maybe even a love interest who is not integral to the plot. Mix in amazing female comic book creators behind the series. Don't forget to decorate with good writing, amazing art, and vivid coloring.
This is a fun, heartening, silly comic. Ribon juggles several characters, weaving them through evolution and growth with uncanny skill. The pacing is fast but logical. The dialogue is realistic. I care about everyone. And even the antagonists, I begin to care for when we see glimpses of who they are and where they come from. The art is perfect for this style of story. I'm recommending this a lot at work.
