She wrote her first novel in 2007 during her first summer break at university and has not stopped writing since. I was hooked on this story from the beginning. It's Friday the 13th, and Kate's husband surprises her by unexpectedly moving out. Rather than wallow in her misfortune, Kate decides to travel; she always wanted to but her husband didn't. On a whim, she picks Rome as her destination ... and the adventure begins.

Kate is brave, clever, and adventurous. The supporting characters are genuine and likable. This is a heartwarming story about family and new beginnings. As a bonus, the vivid descriptions of food and locations make this a perfect way to escape to Rome.

This is my first book by this author. I'm now looking forward to reading A Wedding in Italy.

Refreshing, realistic, and relatable!

At thirty, Kate was surprised to find herself dumped and divorced by her husband of twelve years. Once regrouped, she realized the divorce was the best gift Matt gave her. Kate decided to get away from rainy England for a week-long holiday in Rome to restart her life.

Upon landing in Rome, she met her new BFF, Jamie, a businessman from the U.S who traveled frequently in Italy. Jamie helped Kate to be adventurous. His friendship also provided emotional support in spite of the initial drama he caused.

While out with Jamie, she assumed he abandoned her when he stepped away to talk to someone and never returned. A tipsy Kate ended up in an amusing situation after heading for her hotel alone. She only made it to a nearby tourist attraction before falling asleep. Queue the sexy policeman, Alessandro assisted Kate to her destination.

Other circumstances led Kate to cross paths with Alessandro again. From here, their relationship strengthened, and Kate met his boisterous family. One evening, she spent sharing Italian/English conversation, delicious foods, and wedding dress woes with them. Through sight-seeing outings, Kate and Alessandro fall for each other.

Now, Kate didn’t want her holiday to end. She had big decisions to make about her future.

The story was more chic-lit than romance. The focus was on Kate’s life and the challenges she faced about her future. From the start, I liked Kate. She admitted her flaws and took charge about changing her situation. Taking a chance in the face of uncertainty was what I admired most about Kate. The relationship she had with her sisters was realistic, and the love and support they shared together was touching. She worked through issues logically and wasn’t prone to melodramatics. Oh, my, I relished the comeuppance she handed Matt (who desperately needed it).

But that does not mean the romance and chemistry were lacking between Kate and Alessandro. Alessandro frequently said lovely things to Kate in his charming Italian accent. Plus, I liked that the conflict in the book (mainly) came from outside their relationship. And, thankfully, this was not a book where the couple was at odds until near the end. I even liked that it was mostly closed door on intimate scenes.

This was a new author for me, and I loved the writing. Even with some heavier issues, the tone remained upbeat and hopeful. Plus, I enjoyed hearing the British words and slang about as much as I liked the story. I came across a few British terms that were new to me (and amusing since they were so unlike the American term for it).

There are books well suited for audio format. This is one. Melanie Crawley was fantastic with her British and Italian accents. The pacing was perfect too. I highly recommend the audio format.

Overall, this was a delightful story with great main and side characters. The conflict was believable and the outcome heartwarming. I hope to try other books by this author.

Do you need a vacation but it isn’t happening anytime soon? Me too, but after reading this gem of a book I feel as if I’ve had a refreshing holiday in Rome, it provided an absolutely lovely escape from reality and transported me to the sunny streets of Italy.

Poor Kate, when the story begins she’s just been unceremoniously dumped by her oblivious husband Matt. He seriously needs to get a clue, and though Kate knows she’s better off without him, that’s easier said than done. They’ve been together for almost twenty years after all, and while being suddenly single and free again is exciting, it’s also scary for her. Looking for a way to escape and heal her heartbreak, she books a vacation to Rome, all alone. She has plans to sightsee and eat plenty of delicious Roman cuisine, but almost as soon as she arrives, things don’t go according to her plans, but is that always a bad thing?

I LOVED the characters in this book, Kate is warm and likable, and her relationship with her two sisters, Anna and Lily was sweet and genuine. She meets Jamie in Rome and they immediately hit it off (as friends) he’s there on business from New York and he was just a whole lot of fun, just the type of friend Kate needs at the right time. Alessandro is a local police officer who represents everything you would picture in terms of a sexy Italian man. I kept hearing his accent in my head and let’s just say I could completely understand why Kate was charmed by him. He has a crazy, dynamic family with five sisters and a typical Italian mother. They were all easy to like and made me laugh.

This was my first Tennant book and I was drawn to her easy, breezy writing style. The beautiful backdrop of Rome was the perfect setting for love and romance and then add in the food? Heavenly! I was suddenly craving good wine and even better food, guess I need to book myself an Italian vacation. I loved the storyline but what I appreciated the most was that even though Kate and Alessandro had an instant connection, it wasn’t a quick fix to happily ever after. Kate returns home and has to deal with her ex and family making it so much more real than if she had stayed with Alessandro initially. I’m so pleased that this is the first book in a new series and the second book is out in April, can’t wait to see what happens with these two next.

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookoutre and Tilly Tennant for the opportunity to read this book for an honest review.

You will find my review on Goodreads from today under my name of Karen Whittard and on Amazon under my name k.ewhittard from publication date.

I have been a huge fan of Tilly Tennant for quite some time now. I always like to be whisked away by her books. The style of writing is really easy to read as well which is always fantastic. It is one that you can easily dip in and out of without getting all of a tangle with the plot.

Are you ready to be whisked away from the cold and Derry January whether? Then this book is for you. Although I am aware most people will probably read this in March when it is released. If you live in Blighty it can still be mighty cold here at that time. Either way this book is great escapism if you want an early summer holiday.

It is set in the picturesque Rome and Tilly does well to bring us the gorgeous city without leaving our home comforts.

The book follows Kate whose world has been wrecked when her childhood sweetheart and husband ho she has been with her over 16 years has decided that the marriage is over without ever talking things through with Kate. Kate is left feeling heartbroken and reeling. But she is determined to pick herself up and not whollow in self pity.

Kate decides that it is now or never to take the trip that she has always wanted to go on. To Rome. A trip Matt would never go on.

As Kate arrives in the city alone she makes friends with Jamie a American in Rome on business and a police man called Alexandro. Cue climaties and incidents galore. Pickpockiters, wedding dresses, fighting siblings, delicious food and much, much more.

Can a fleeting holiday romance lead to more? Is there a happy ending in store for our lovely Mancunian lass? Can Kate pick up the pieces of her life since Matt walked out?

This is a great read, it had me laughing very loudly in places. Not great when your on a bus full of other people!!

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a romance that is a little different to the norm. Who would like a change of scenery. And anyone who wants a change of character who doesn't come from London or the Cotsworlds.

I always really enjoy a Tilly Tennant book. If you haven't read anything by her. I highly recommend her, and this book is a great place to start.

Happy reading everyone

Kate needed a vacation… because being dumped isn’t a pleasant thing!

Hence, she decided to spend a week in Rome... and she fell in love with the Eternal city immediately upon her arrival. She just couldn’t withstand its bewitching charm: the sun-drenched piazzas and their beautifully sculptured fountains, the sumptuous and majestic palaces, the joyful and festive atmosphere which pervades the whole city… Better yet, she fell for a hot, sexy, handsome policeman: Alessandro. Actually, he’s the kind of man who is every woman’s dream… And as a consequence she was caught up in the most wonderful whirlwind imaginable.

Of course, I was even more sensitive to the main character’s emotions since I was recently in Rome with my bf; I’m still impregnated by the city’s atmosphere skillfully depicted by the author. Yet, how can one resist Alessandro? I have no clue…

I (too) fell for him; but, please, keep it secret… Don’t tell my bf :) .

When you see Rome in the title of a book what do you think of? I know I think of good Italian food, a city steeped in history and sexy Italian men. Ok so my thoughts may be a bit stereotypical, but Rome is Where the Heart is has all of that and a good deal more too - for this is a book featuring at least half the story in The Eternal City, but takes in another side to the city too.

Yes there is Italian food, how could you have a book like this without it, and Kate ends up having some great meals with two very different men in the city - Jamie who she meets at the airport, and Alessandro who she meets for the first time at The Spanish Steps. One of them even take her to have a good Italian meal with the whole family, so you get a good insight as to a large Italian family dynamic at work, and I must say I really enjoyed his sisters and mother.

Both Jamie and Alessandro are happy to take on the role of tour guide on various days of Kate's week in Rome, and we see The Colosseum, Trevi Fountain and The Vatican amongst the other smaller sites. In fact The Colosseum plays its part in Kate's second meeting with Alessandro. I should mention that he is a Roman policeman!

Kate has not come to Rome to look for love, more to try and start making her own way in the world, after her decree absolute comes through in her recent divorce. However fate has other plans for her!

This is a highly enjoyable story that is a pleasure to read, and definitely shows another dimension to Tilly Tennant's writing, especially with some of the more serious story threads that are intermingled with the fun. Jamie is heavily involved with one of the more serious stories, as is Lily, Kate's younger sister who I really felt for.

Rome is Where The Heart Is, gives an energetic look at Rome, and is also a lovely story of the closeness of sisters, with most of the story set to the most glorious of backdrops.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Contemporary Romance
Series: From Italy with Love, book #1
Publication date : March 9, 2017

When Kate's husband dumps her on Friday the 13th (!), she is hurt and confused. They've been together since school, why the sudden decision? Kate has always wanted to travel but not Matt. Now that she is single again, its for her to decide where she goes and what she does. So Kate impulsively book a week-long trip to Italy, Rome, a place she has always dreamed of visiting. As Kate has little experience with travelling, she soon gets into a few mishaps. She also meet handsome Jamie and a local policeman Alessandro. By the end of her holiday, will she want to leave Rome and go back to her home in England or she has lost her heart to Rome and man she met there?

I don't read romance stories very often, but this story was quite a nice surprise. I like that author concentrate on following Kate, and not jumping around different characters POVs. The characters are likeable. I dislike that the heroines so often drink too much alcohol!

Kate came home from work sooner than usually and that’s when she found her husband about to leave. It was unexpected and hurt her, but life goes on and she decides to do something her husband didn’t like-go travelling. She decides to go to Rome all by herself. Right after arriving in Rome, she meets Jamie, who’ll become a big part of her vacation and their friendship does not end in Rome. While discovering the magical Rome, Kate also meets Alessandro, who is a policeman. Kate tries to find balance between her sisters, Jamie and Alessandro. Kate’s sisters worry about her and they keep in touch as much as possible. Kate enjoys the company of her new friend Jamie, but her heart beats faster for Alessandro. Kate is in Rome for a short time, is their love going to survive the distance?

I really enjoyed the book, I loved the deep connection between the sisters and also the atmosphere in Rome. Kate’s stay in Rome was full of adventures and different happenings, which were so much fun to read about. As I really enjoyed this book, I can’t wait to read the second book and head back to Rome and meet the wonderful characters again.

A lovely change of pace to the relentless Christmas stories at this time of year.

Kate has just received her decree nisi after her childhood sweetheart left her. Determined to drag herself out of the pit of despair she has been wallowing in, she decides to indulge herself with some of the things that her ex-husband Matt wouldn't do. A trip abroad to Rome is top of the list.

Through a series of random events she meets an American, Jamie, in Rome on business and an Italian policeman Allesandro. As Kate wanders the historic city seeing all the famous sights she navigates pickpockets, jealous brothers, wedding dresses and an awful lot of pastries for breakfast. But can a holiday romance last when she returns home to Manchester.

Although Tilly Tennant's name is familiar I don't think I've ever read one of her books before. I would say this falls very firmly into a specific genre of novels about English women, either recently divorced or widowed, with messy family lives who find new love - by authors such as Sue Moorcroft.

Kate, Jamie and Alessandro were all engaging characters, I liked that Kate was a Mancunian - it makes a change from everyone coming from London or somewhere like the Cotswolds.

Recommended for people who like gentle contemporary English romances but fancy a change of scenery, or anyone who liked the holiday parts of Shirley Valentine.

I received a free copy of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Bumped for release.

With Rome is Where the Heart Is, Tilly Tennant once again brings to life a story so rich in locale detail that I don’t know why I am sitting here writing this review when I should be on a plane bound for Rome! In addition to all of the food and drink delights that await one visiting Rome, the city has amazing history and architecture that really should be reason enough to put a visit on your bucket list. Instead, I was able to tag along with Kate on her holiday to Rome.

I really liked Kate and admired her courage to not only travel to another country by herself, but her determination to not let fear or apprehension keep her from enjoying all the city of Rome has to offer. I really enjoy stories that shake the characters out of the rut they are in and do something exciting and unexpected. Deciding to move to Italy and start a new life is definitely something very unexpected and not something I recommend but it definitely worked for Kate. I thought Kate’s sister advising that Kate take more time before jumping into this plan also made sense, and I understand she was only trying to look out for her. Kate’s frustration and sense of guilt for doing something for herself for a change was keenly felt and understood too. I very much enjoyed Kate’s family meeting Alessandro and seeing them connect with him made the impossible seem possible.

I also enjoyed the side story of Kate’s new friendship with American businessman Jamie and thought he filled the role of big brother, tour guide and new best friend perfectly. This is the first book in the series and ended with Kate returning to Rome to start her new life. I am looking forward to the next book to see how she fares and hopefully get to reconnect with these characters again.

My Final Verdict: Overall, if you can ignore the voice of reason in your head pointing out why moving to another country, a country whose primary language is not one you speak or understand is a bad idea, then you will enjoy seeing Rome through Kate’s eyes and will likely fall in love with it as she did. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy romances and the excitement of visiting exotic destinations. Readers who enjoy seeing the characters take chances, not worrying about the future and living in the moment will also enjoy this story.

Honestly, thank you so much Bookouture and NetGalley for the Arc in exchange for review. I jump at most any book that takes place in Rome, or really any place in Italy. Rome is Where The Heart Is will be added to my favorite books based in Italy that I will read over and over. I typically hate when a book starts out with the woman being dumped, especially in this case where Kate and her husband Matt had a deep history. I often wonder how someone loves someone for years and builds a life together and one of them cheats, or betrays the other. Kate doesn’t know if Matt cheated and at this point it is not all that important because the most important thing is that he left her when she appeared to be clueless that they were not doing well. Kate is pretty shocked, and Matt is a bit of a “tosser” so it is hard to feel sorry for someone that knows they are unhappy but never bothers to try and do something about it and just leaves. But, Kate does the one thing that I admire, head to Rome, which in my humble opinion, can never be a bad idea.
Kate has one week in Rome which not nearly enough to even see half of it, but, she makes the best with the time she has there. She sees some amazing sites and meets some amazing people. It goes without saying that she eats some wonderful food. One of the people she meets, Jamie, takes her under his wing and I like that the reader gets to know Jamie. He isn’t just a passing character. He is an integral part of Kate’s story and he adds so much color to the book. But, that is one of the great things about this book. The characterizations stand out. Each person Kate meets or interacts with is well written. Even the people who are not main characters are colorful and well-written. Kate has a mishap while out one night near the Spanish Steps and meets Alessandro, a policeman in the Rome police department. Oddly enough they run into each other again and hit it off. At this stage, Kate has made two friends in about 2 days in Rome where I have made zero when visiting for about 10 days across two different visits. I’m not sure what I am doing wrong, but, I’m hoping I have it straight for my next visit. Kate has this way of drawing people to her even when she is not trying and her personality shines through in the book. Alessandro is a good looking Roman guy who people appear to love. He loves his job and believes in his city and wants to ensure that others love it also. He has this lively, close family and he and Kate have a lot in common. It doesn’t hurt that Jamie loves him also. What is key is will Kate’s sisters love him enough to cheer for their sister’s second chance at love? It is well worth reading Rome is Where the Heart is to find out. Review can also be found at LadyTechie’s Book Musings http://ladytechiesbookmusings.blogspo....

Oh my goodness, I LOVED this book! I have binged a bit on crime/police procedural novels so I needed some pleasant escapism - and Rome is Where the Heart is gave me that in bucket loads. I was first introduced to Tennant's writing with The Little Village Bakery and this book continues with the same wonderful, warm writing with likeable characters.
Kate has been cruelly dumped by her husband on Friday the 13th, Matt is all she has ever known as they were best friends and childhood sweethearts so this is particularly tough on Kate. Upon the finalisation of the divorce, Kate decides to do something crazy and out of character so books a week away to Rome....alone! As soon as she arrives in Italy, Kate meets Jamie who saves her from being swindled by a taxi driver. Jamie is on a business trip from America and they quickly form a friendship. I adored Jamie, everyone needs a Jamie in their lives!!

I won't spoil how it happens but Kate later also meets the charming and terribly good-looking Alessandro who makes her begin to believe that there is life after Matt....even if it's only for a few days whilst living the dream in Italy.

Rome is Where the Heart is has made me want to visit Rome (even more than I did before) and is pure escapism, the romance of potentially finding the love of your life during a chance meeting in a foreign country is wonderful. I just couldn't put it down. I loved Kate, Jamie and Alessandro - these characters soon begin to feel like your friends. This book explores finding love again and family bonds as Kate's sisters are fiercely protective over her...as are Alessandro's five sisters and the head of the family, Signora Conti.

I enjoyed this book so much that I immediately moved onto the second book in the 'From Italy with love' series, A Wedding in Italy and it's not often that I will read books from the same series back to back - but I just had to find out what happens with Kate, Alessandro and Jamie. Look out for my review of book 2!

This book starts with some real drama! The first scene had me completely hooked as Kate comes home early from work to find her childhood sweetheart and husband, Matt leaving her. Kate is obviously distraught but she manages to find a silver lining. Matt never wanted to travel and Kate always did. Brilliantly, the first thing Kate does once the divorce comes through is hop on a plane to Rome!

Once she's there, two men take centre stage beside all the landmarks, sounds and tastes of the city: American Jamie and Italian Stallion (okay, policeman) Alessandro. There is romance, friendship and hints of a new and exciting life. But of course there a problems as well, both Italian and English in nature.

The best thing about this novel is the way Tilly describes the city of Rome. All the major sights are there; Colosseum, Vatican, but so too are the insecurities and unforgettable smaller moments anyone who's visited a foreign city on a whim will recognise. Tilly is a fabulous writer and, although I've never actually been to Rome, I completely feel like I have now!

Overall, this is a charming, funny (Kate's sisters especially) and enjoyable tale that no romance fan should miss. Bring on the instalment!!

Browsing through NetGalley I found this book, and it seemed a nice story to get into. Rome is one of my favorite places in the entire world, so when I read the title of this book I was filled with joy and wanted to read it badly. It was a complete disappointment, I expected the story to have more adventure in Rome and its wonderful and mysterious places, but it was completely the opposite. The story of Kate and her divorce, wanting to free herself from that long time relationship lead her to visit Rome, where she was looking to have some adventure. The characters were quite simple, they were not so detailed so it is very difficult to like them or even imagine them, you just have a general superficial view of them. For me it is a book you can just get to pass time.

4☆ A Delightful Romance

Rome is Where the heart is, is a Heart-warming romance/ rom com.
I've never been to Italy but it was a joy to be whisked off to Rome with Kate.

After a divorce Kate decides to jet set off to Rome alone.
It's here she makes new friends, falls in love and starts a new journey of self discovery and adventures.

I have to add a trigger warning of miscarriage and mental health. It features quiet a bit in the later half of the book, which some readers may find difficult.

I love the Witty humour and the mishaps Kate finds herself in, especially at the hands of Justin the loveable rouge.
I absolutely loved the passion and friendship between Kate and Alessandro, I was routing for them the whole way through.

Overall this is a delightful story, that warmed my heart and had me giggling.
I do hope there is another instalment as I want to see what's next for Kate and Alessandro!

The narrating was perfect, I loved how the narrator bought the characters to life. Making it fully engaging, easy to listen to and a joy.

I had the pleasure of reading the book from Netgalley (Bookouture) and listening to it via Audible.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the advanced copy of Rome Is Where The Heart Is. And of course a big thank you to Tilly Tennant for writing this gem.

This was my first Tilly Tennant book and I was very pleasantly taken by Tillys writing. I genuinely felt transported to another world, infact another country. Rome is in my top 5 places I'd like to visit, so I was excited to be taken there whilst reading this book.

The characters were well developed and likeable. You instantly felt sorry for the protagonist Kate at the beginning of the story when she comes home from work early to discover her husband is leaving her. Kate decides that she will take a holiday as her husband never wanted to travel, she picks Rome and bravely travels solo. You really can't help but fall in love with her as you follow her adventures in Rome. Where she meets not one but two men. Kate meets Jamie at the airport and a fab friendship sparks between them. However romance is definitely on the cards when she meets charming and dashing Italian police officer Alessandro....swoon.
Kate has some bumps in the road and still has a lot to overcome but she doesn't just give up on life. There are some serious things Kate has to overcome and deal with too, it's not all about a holiday romance but that just gives the story more depth. I also really enjoyed the complex relationship between Kate and her two sisters.

During these cold, dreary winter nights, I was able to "feel" the sun on my face, "taste" the yummy Italian food and "see" the beautiful scenery.
My main goal and hope when reading is to feel as though I'm living inside the story. It doesn't happen enough, to be able to detach from the here and now but this book just seemed to pick me up and drop me into Kates world. I feel like I'm back from a holiday in Rome, minus the tan ha. I even bought myself a nice bottle of Barolo to drink whilst reading. When in Rome!!!

I'm looking forward to heading back to Italy with the next installment - A Wedding In Italy.

Currently available on audiable 🎧

I loved this audiobook.

Well narrated, easy, listen funny, heartwarming with some twists and turns, and a little heartbreak in the midst.

Kate lands in Rome, and from the offset, she meets Jamie from the USA, who becomes her personal tour guide as he frequently visits Rome. Jamie is witty/charming caring and simply put no holds barred type of character who just says it like it is they build a beautiful friendship very quickly getting to know each other very well and share a loving way of showing how even although in a country that speaks a foreign language they both speak English yet he still doesn't understand many of the little mannerisms and cologquisisims that Kate uses and has to explain which becomes a bit of a standing joke throughout the story.

Kate faces theft of her bag when she is shown to the local police station to report it where she again sees the beautiful Alessandro who very quickly and promptly takes her case file to task then offers her a lift back to the hotel where they begin to build on their relationship.

Kate meets Alessandro's family when she offers to help with his sisters wedding dress, which she finds herself wishing she hadn't put herself into that position, but things just continue to go from there. She has left behind her own family as this was only supposed to be 1 weeks holiday but she finds herself falling for the Italian stalian and the beautiful scenery of the city of Rome that she decides she really doesn't want to leave.

When Kate is heding home there is some difficult sad news she has to deal with, will she ever be able to fulfil her dreams and return to Rome for her happy ending or is it all simply too much to hope for?!?!?!

3.5 stars. I wanted to read some fluff, and reminded me of being abroad in the sunshine on holiday in Italy. So this served this pretty well. The characters were likeable, the Italians’ clipped, English dialogue pretty realistic and there were a few exciting plot twists. I’d only say I was expecting this to be funnier…I feel there was so much potential with Alessandro’s mother and his sisters that we didn’t explore. I’d have much preferred that over the passages set in Manchester (which went on too long tbh) with Kate’s ex and her family.

When you can't just jet off to Rome a little vicarious escape is to be had in a book. It was a rainy, chilly spring week where I am so following Kate's trip to Rome and meeting Alessandro was fun. This wasn't the most immersive story if you're looking for something akin to a travelogue but as breezy romances go, this fit nicely. I enjoyed watching Kate recuperate from her divorce and open up quite a lot on her excursion. In addition to romance and friendship Kate also experiences a bit of culture clash which she navigates as gracefully as she can with varying degrees of success. When faced with challenges she pushed forward and displayed openness (sometimes too much), warmth and humor.

New friend, Jamie was a bit cliche but well used in the story (he's not the only guy in the story this happened to; I'm looking at you, Matt). I also enjoyed that sisters and sibling relationships played a large part of the story for both Kate and Alessandro. I'm a singleton so I often find reading about the sibling thing fascinating. Points also on the cover. It's cheerful and perfectly eye-catching. My only quibble is it was a shame that the woman on the cover isn't the red-head Kate is described as in the book.

This is my first read by Tilly Tennant but I'm sure not my last. Apparently there's a sequel to this one so it'll likely be that one. Recommended especially if you're in need of a little romance in your busy week.

Kate is married to Matt, they were childhood sweethearts who made the next step.

The next step probably should have been children. But for Matt it was separation.

The next step for Kate is unknown. She is in a dead-end job, which she tolerates, just and her love is for dressmaking.

At the chance to change her life, she books herself a holiday to Rome, on her own. It is time she did something with her life.

At the airport she meets Jamie, who helps guide her through a city so she can see just as much of the tourist attractions as she does of the real Rome. However, Jamie has problems of his own and it is when he leaves Kate alone she finds herself on the Spanish Steps.

That is where Alessandro finds her.

Kate had not gone to Rome to find love, but something has captured her love, for the place, the buildings, the way of life, the food, the people and Alessandro is determined to make an impact on her life and a dent in her heart in the time she is there.

Trouble is Alessandro has five sisters, a strong matriarch family head and a rather jealous ex. It is never going to go well for Kate, especially as tragic events back in England means she has to go back home.

Will Alessandro just be a past ghost or will Kate be able to maintain the dream of Rome, of Love whilst back in Manchester.

The book did start off a bit slowly for me, but it picked up pace once Kate was in Rome and I flew through the pages and the story as if I was a tourist in Rome itself. Tennant has brought the characters to life very well, I could almost sense the expectation in Alessandro's home when Kate first goes there. Just as much as I could feel the despair and desolation when Kate returns home to finalise some issues and put a closure on one part of her life. I was most annoyed at her elder sister Anna, who seemed to be ready to take over Kate's life, her constant interference whilst well-meant was positively irritating. But for me those feelings and emotions are the sign of a writer who has created a story which gets under your skin and characters who you actually care about.

Another book to escape on holiday with, without even having to get out of your pajamas for.

I was given an ecopy of Rome is Where the Heart Is by Bookouture, Tilly's publisher in exchange for an honest review, something that I'm more than happy to do.

The main character is Kate, her marriage has suddenly ended and she's bereft. She needs some time out and decides to totally escape her life and embarks on a solo trip to Rome to gather her thoughts and gain some traction on her life. Her sisters, are seriously worried about her plans and make her promise to keep in touch - something that she finds difficult as she is absorbed into Italian life.

This is such a lovely, feel good book. Tilly Tennant has the ability to suck you right into the heart of a story and Rome Is Where the Heart Is had me hooked. It is such a sensory read I so want to go to Rome now and walk the routes Kate trod as she discovered the city, tried new foods, made friends, plans and found love - I felt as though I was there with her the descriptions are so vivid the story just wrapped itself around my heart.

This is ultimately a romantic read. It couldn't be anything but, the cover just exudes sunshine and happiness and brings a smile to my face every time I look at it. It isn't all hearts and flowers though and there are a few mysteries to solve along the way too.

I loved the way Tilly provided an instant friend in Italy for Kate, she so deserved some happiness and support. Arriving in Italy Kate stood out as a tourist and is about to be ripped off when she was rescued by Jamie, larger than life, with an air of mystique that runs throughout the book. My thoughts about him yo-yo'd as he ambushes Kate's holiday and she finds herself in more than one awkward situation - one such incident though brings her face to face with the delicious policeman, Allesandro so all is not bad. He's another man who takes her under her wing and gives her a glimpse of real, Italian life. The instant, romantic connection between the pair fizzed off the page and I silently crossed my fingers for a romantic, happy ending for them.

This was the perfect book to read, it inspires hope, happiness and thoughts of good things to come, a perfect slice of deliciousness that had me oohing and aching through every chapter. A dream like book, that melted my heart and has left me wanting just a little bit more. I'm off to the travel agents now - Italy here I come.

I am a massive fan of Tilly Tennant's books and have read nearly all of her releases so far (I'm working on the remaining ones at the moment), and I have to say that her writing style is one of my favourites.  I love the pace of her books, the characters always have good personalities and depth and they help her bring the words to life and will admit I loved this book, it made me feel all mushy inside and really played on my pregnancy hormones!!

I was delighted when I picked up a copy of this book and loved every page.  I've been to Rome myself and have walked some of the same streets mentioned.  I really enjoyed Kate's story and the next book in the series, A Wedding in Italy is just as good and out later in the month - keep your eye out as I'm on the blog tour for it! :)

Rome Is Where The Heart Is, is another lovely read, 5 stars from me and its out now!

Wonderful, lovely book! I am so happy to have decided to read this one! I loved the fact that half of the book takes place in Rome, Italy. It felts like going on a vacation! loved it! and I really loved the main character Kate, I recognized myself in her a lot, her story was so much like my own in many aspects and it was so nice to read about someone going through the same issues. I really loved also the character of Alessandro...we all want a guy like him in our lives! and I really loved to read about Kate's strong bond with her sisters. I understand that there is a sequel to this book and I really can't wait to read more about Kate and Alessandro's adventures in Italy!
I totally recommend this book! Tilly Tennant is an excellent writer in my opinion!

The title of this book is what grabbed me immediately. I am a sucker for Italian contemporary romance!

One of my favorite things about this author is her writing style. Tilly Tennant did a beautiful job with the writing of this novel. Everything flowed so amazingly and made sense the whole way through. The drama in the beginning was so heart-felt that a few pages in, I was ready to grab tissues.

Next, the characters were great. They all had their own individuality and it was very awesome to see that. The sisters in this book were very funny as well. I have a sibling and I am definitely a worrier, but also pretty laid back. It was awesome to be able to connect to Kate's sisters.

Lastly, the ending was great. I was extremely happy to see everything at the end. I felt like it left out somethings, but now there is a sequel!! Very, very excited to read to see what happens!

The title of the book caught when i was browsing NetGalley and i thought it would be a nice, light reading. But it was really lighter than necessary! My mistake was that i did not read the summary, otherwise i would have skipped it.
Kate just got a divorce after Matt, her husband for the last 12 years, decided it is not what he wanted after all. So, after the first devastating months she decided to take control over her life, and do all the things she dreamed of starting with a nice holiday in Rome.
So far so good.
But, for her first day in Rome she falls for this handsome Italian policeman! And from that part i felt i did not really enjoy the story anymore.
For a woman professing to become independant , she turned out to be particularily needy. I am sorry to say i did not like Kate at all, or her ways nor decisions.
The story in itself was not bad, there was some funny moments that i enjoyed but that was all.

Was looking forward to a strong female lead and lots of beautiful descriptions of Rome. I got neither. I was curious to see if Kate grew up a little so I read he sequel. Easy reads, but kind of disappointing.

*Book provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review*

Main character Kate has bad bad experiences on Friday the 13th and it doesn’t change, because that’s when her husband dumps her. She decides that it’s time for a change and jumps on a plane to Italy.

In Rome her new adventure starts, she explores the city and meets handsome police man Alessandro. She gets to know different sides of him: Police man Alessandro and loving Alessandro, he even takes her to see his family. This is confusing for her and in some moments during the story, she doesn’t know what to think.

At a certain point in the story she has to make a decision about her life and she does. However, there is also a lot going on at home.

Italy always screams home for me and it was so uplifting to read about Rome in this book. The people, the sights and the story between Kate and Alessandro, just “FANTASTICO”.
We also get to follow Kate around in Manchester, that added a great mixture and also mixed up the characters.

Kate friend Jamie adds another spark to the story as well, which is really refreshing. The way they meet and what they experience together.

Tilly Tennant created a wonderful atmosphere in this story, there are some sparkly moments and the excitement is always there. This forms a great flow and makes it build up in an ideal way. The characters are well lined out, they have chemistry and they are all really authentic.

Rome is Where The Heart is is the perfect story to pull you away from every day life and the final winter days. It makes you forget everything around you and you can just dive into the story and be a part of it.

Rating 3.5/5

This was a crazy, doomed romance, and she had instigated it, encouraged it, made it an impossible thing that neither could live without but might yet break both their hearts. She should have listened to the voice in her head that told her to leave well alone, should have walked away while she had the chance and filed Alessandro way as a brief, fun flirtation on her first holiday as a single woman.

When her childhood sweetheart leaves her then sends divorce papers, Kate decides that now is the time to do things that she’s not been able to do whilst married. The first thing on her list is going to Rome for a holiday. She certainly doesn’t expect to meet anyone or develop feelings for them, especially not a local. With the end of her holiday looming will the relationship manage the long distance or end up just a holiday romance?

What really drew me to this book was Rome as a setting. I’ve never been but I love reading about places that I’ve not managed to visit yet, so that I can get a glimpse into what it’s like. I was able to picture the city really well from the descriptions and loved how it was depicted, that it touched upon the landmarks but we also got a look at the paths less travelled as well. This book has definitely made me feel like I want to go off on an adventure!!

Whilst it encouraged the traveller in me I did have an issue with this book, and unfortunately, it was kind of a big one, I didn’t find the relationship between Kate and Alessandro very inspiring or believable. Let me clarify, I thought the way that they met and then ended up running into each other again was fine; I was on board with him offering to take her out and show her the sights (because this has actually happened to a friend of mine); what I couldn’t get my head around was that suddenly Kate is love with him, having lots of conflicting thoughts about him and then starts almost obsessing about his ex.

There was no lead up to this relationship, and in my opinion very little development of it, I know that there was the time constraint factor but it was too rushed, I didn’t feel anything for them being together and it began to feel a little stale. I also think that anything to do with Orazia should have been taken out, it felt like it had been added in for a bit of drama to create a tension but didn’t really go anywhere and again wasn’t developed enough to make any real mark.

Having said that I loved the relationship between Kate and her sisters, it was really well portrayed. It felt very realistic and there were plenty of times that I could relate to a situation, like when they were bickering or got mad at each other. I can imagine that Anna might not be too popular but I liked her, she was quite hard on Kate sometimes but it was a good dose of pragmatism and I admired that she was the voice of reason to Kate’s flight of fancy. I also thought it was great how even when they didn’t see eye to eye they still supported each other, the way the author writes about the sisters you can see how they feel about each other without having to be told.

Alessandro’s family also felt really dynamic, like the type of people you do want to be brought into the fold with. A large family, having lunches together with amazing food and all with big personalities, they really gave extra character to the setting. Personally, I think this book would have been more compelling and plausible if there had been more of a conflict involving Alessandro, Kate, and his family. That would have been some serious sparks.

It was also great to see Kate turn her life around, and demand better for herself. I appreciated that even though she did want to follow her new dreams that she was practical about it, and I came away feeling hopeful and that maybe dreams aren’t as far away as we think.

Rome Is Where The Heart Is would make a great summer read, it’s an uplifting book that you can escape into. Even though I wasn’t convinced on the romance aspect, the relationships between the other characters and the brilliant description of Rome are what really made this book for me.

Thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for the review copy of this book.
