A young woman, a bad boyfriend, a small black female german shepherd puppy.
One of these has got to go...
The story of Yelena, her relationship with Bellatrix and how they met the Bethany Anne while the two were trying to save her brother from a Wechselbalg.
And beer...Let's not forget the beer.
For fans of The Kurtherian Gambit series and world. This is set between books 13 and 14 in The Kurtherian Gambit and explains how Ashur's mate Bellatrix comes to be in the group.
And why Bellatrix knows how to properly respond to terrorists in outer space. (For those who LOVED that scene!)
Natalie Grey grew up in rural New England, surrounded by a lot of vegetables and relatively little excitement. Therefore, she was obliged to make up excitement by pretending to be a knight, mage, jet-setting international assassin, jedi, or (occasionally) a shape-shifting dragon. She read everything she could get her hands on, from Lord of the Rings to Modesty Blaise, and eventually started writing her own stories full of what-ifs and snarky put-downs. Now she lives with her two German Shepherd mixes in the frozen wilds of Minnesota, and does a lot of inventive swearing while she shovels.
Another will written paranormal fantasy world 🌎 adventure thriller space opera short story by Natalie Grey and Michael Anderle (Frank Kurns Stories of the Unknown World book three). Yelena is a young woman 🚺 who adopts a small black puppy 🐕. John comes to her and brother's rescue and Yelena joins the group. I would recommend this novella series and authors to readers of paranormal fantasy novels 👍🔰. Enjoy the adventure of reading 👓 or listening 🎶 to Alexa read different types of books 📚. 2023 😮👒😈
Another really fun novella from The Kurtherian Gambit series. This one is about a case of mistaken identity, of torture, and of Bethany Anne’s justice. It’s also about Yelena breaking up with her boyfriend and him coming to take her home and hitting her several times. BUT when Ciprian, the stupid boyfriend, kicked her puppy Bellatrix Yelena proceeded to beat the shit out of him.
Then Yelena’s twin brother Alec was taken and was being tortured and she felt each horrible thing that happened to him, every punch and every stab wound.
And then Bethany Anne, Ecaterina, John, Eric, and Ashur the dog, showed up looking for “weak” werewolves, who just happened to have Yelena’s brother and BA and her group showed everyone their form of justice.
The last of the novella we got to see William and Bobcat, and Bobcat take an instant liking to Yelena. Love is in the air again.
No sex and the F-bomb was used 11 times, along with some of Bethany Anne’s colorful and lengthy swearword phrases.
This is another short story by Frank Kurns. You know the hundred year old guy. Well he fills in a few gaps where stories could have been extended, you know, reasons. But alas they didn't really make the story at the time any better, they do fill in some missing pieces.
Like where did Bella Trix the German Shepherd came from. She just kind of appeared along with her owner Yolana. Also she got involved with Bobcat and Bella with Aushur. Hence the puppies.
It's a great but short reads and as I said fills in a few gaps. I would definitely recommend that you read the Kurenthian Gambit first or they won't make much sense. Enjoy!
Using this as a placeholder for a origins of Bellatrix fanfic I read. It was 60 000 words so I'll be damned if I don't count it towards my goodreads yearly book goal. It's name is Master and Slave by sweetsociopath on ao3. 3.5/5 stars
Something that helps make a book special is when the author is able to write enough back story about a character. The more I know about their history makes their actions more meaningful. It's like taking a pastel drawing and flipping the BOLD switch, (if there were such a thing!), bringing out more detail and depth. It's very possible that these extra books are going to end up spoiling me, hopelessly searching for the same in other series and never finding. Thanks, I think! NOTE: This book has quite a good (bad!) number of typos, something I really hate. Not sure what happened here as compared to the main series, but I'm hoping it stops here. ✋🐺
BELLATRIX is the third installment in the Frank Kurns Stories of the UnknownWorld series by Michael Anderle.
Okay so these books all have this more lax feel, by wide margins, than the Kurtherian Gambit series. I imagine at least part of it is intentional. Take us hardcore fans away from the conniving violence of the other series and bring us to the more personable relationships and hidden gems of interactions between the big groundbreaking pivotal moments.
Although, I think many fans would argue that both Ashur and Bobcat finding a love interest in one book is a pivotal moment.
This was a totally cute addition to the KU series. The story itself dealt with some hard things, but overall, I really liked it. I guess it’s because I love smart animals. I also really enjoy this entire universe. There are tons of series that are interconnected that can be read. I personally do all of this reading using the Kindle unlimited program. I would definitely recommend it it is 9.95 a month and you can read books in the Kindle unlimited store and you can have up to 10 at a time on your device. My only question would be, why is it always dogs? Why can’t there be cats?
I love ❤️ Dogs 🐶 but mostly German Shephards for being so smart. I cried 😭 cried... had to wipe my tears 😭 away so u could keep reading 📖... good think I was home in bed 🛌 and not waiting in line somewhere... 🤦🏻♀️ I read every time I get a free moment and since Kindle is on my iPhone 📲 ALL the darn time... LOVE All these books and I stop reading the kurtherian Gambit to insert Frank Kurns stories... 😂😂😂
The story truly is focused on Yelena and Bellatrix, with Bethany Anne & some of her Bitches not even showing up until the last third of the story.
As in the first two Frank Kurns stories the whole premise is to give the reader more of the back story of characters that aren’t Bethany Anne. They are fun to read without having to worry about where they fit into the entire Kutherian Gambit universe.
This short story was well written and believable. There were some scary parts! Some good parts too! It was great reading about Ashur and Bellatrix meeting and Bobcat and Yelena meeting too.
I kind of skipped ahead to read this one and am glad I did! Now, back to the main story line. :)
K love almost all of the Kurthan gambit series. If you creative swearing you will really appreciate the first books in the series. Because so many author s have spun out in many different directions. The quality of the books is uneven. Bellatrix is one if the spin offs and should not be read until puppies appear. Enjoy
I love this author, actually I love both of them! I loved this storyline, especially the dogs. I already loved Ashur, now adding Bellatrix is pure genius! Also a year for Bobcat, finally a girl for him. It's great! I hope Natalie Grey keeps writing in this series as long as it last and I sincerely hope that is a very, very long time!
This book provides the introduction of Bellatrix whom I was curious about due to the Ethric Researcher. This was a short read, but the teaser about Helena and Bobcat making beer means there needs to be a followup novel. I have become immersed in the Kurtherian story line, but this is a lighter story that I really enjoyed.
So far I have been amazed with how well all the new authors in The KBG universe are fitting right in like they have always been there. That is not always the case in other book series, etc. But this author has fitted right in and made me want more, GOOD Job!
What what lol you did good...new characters were integrated into the verse I liked the little conflict of John's emotions over Yelena tho knowing his passion in the Bitches and his own honor and emotions your portrait of him rings true
Awwww! Too cute! Her pep talk was great! 'I will get over this mountain (books)' Lol! And that punch though... Go Yelena! I thought I might be able to get thru the main TKG books without reading this side story. I was wrong. It was a good short story.
A very tidy, concise short story about a young woman and her dog. Tangentially affiliated with Kutherians, Yelena gets thrown into a world that has more to it than she thinks. Storylines from The Kutherian Gambit get clarified during this tale.
I love that Ashur now has a love interest! And the ending! I can't wait to read (or listen since I love audio books) how that develops. As always, great characters, world, and all the rest!!!!
Yelena befriends the puppy Bellatrix, and stands up for herself and her dog. Later, enter bad guys, followed by Bethany Anne and co. Lovely ending to a delightful story.
My only complaint about this book is that it was way too short!
This story is of Bellatrix, Ashur's mate, and how she came to be in the stories. It is a very nice, quick read and gives background on how the two met, and how she came to be so intelligent. This book was definitely action packed.
This is another spin-off of the Kathurian Gambit series. Not as much action as I like but the story was interesting. Nice first try for Natalie. I'm sure she will get better.
This series never disappoints! The plots and characters are always interesting and fun. I like meeting the new characters in each new book meshing with the regulars! Bring on the next book!
This series is going to the dogs ... And that's a good thing!
Not just one, but two lovable 4 legged characters romp through this story. Lost loved ones are found and new human love is found too. A very enjoyable read. Read it, you'll be glad you did!
As a dog person myself, this is another of my favorite stories in TKU. Also, having been married to an unkind man when I was younger, I was right in the moment with Yelana when confronted with her ex. No spoilers, but the ending had me happy-crying!!
I love this story. Partly for the resilience of Yelena, but mostly because of Bellatrix. Seeing through the eyes of a dog, taking care of each other… Noble dogs ftw! Also the ending with Bobcat is CLASSIC.
I'm so glad that Ashur has found a suitable mate at last - and Bellatrix couldn't have been more suitable than she was, with a human friend who likes space, and beer, and engineers! Lol
