After Chase and his parrot, Scottie, are rescued by a hot firefighter, Dylan, Chase, at his friend Ariana's urging, gives Dylan a copy of his book as a way of saying thank you. Chase had no way of knowing that simple act would bring him a new relationship.
I like the way Dylan and Chase hit it off quickly. There was no angst or questioning whether or not Dylan was gay or straight, because Dylan made it clear immediately that he liked and was attracted to Chase. I wish their relationship had been developed a bit more, though, and that it flowed a little better. I didn't feel their connection to be super strong at the point where the story ended, but only because the author didn't develop their connection enough. Had Hot Flash been expanded to a full length novel or had there been a second installment, then their story probably would have felt better fleshed out and their connection would have presented as stronger. Perhaps more is coming for Chase and Dylan? I hope so because what little I did read of them, I liked them. Both are sweet guys, especially Dylan, and are interesting and likable. Honestly, though, the real star in Hot Flash is Scottie the parrot. He's a hoot!

I volunteered for a free ARC copy of this book for an honest review.
The premise of this book was very promising but the characters were poorly crafted and they were not supported enough emotionally.
There were a lot of inconsistencies and illogicality that hindered the flow of the story. Like I had so many questions about this book!
1. How did he pay for the parrot's cage?
2. Why didn't he expect Dylan to be passionate?
3. How does food appear so quickly in this world? And how can I want be a part of it?
4. Why is he flirting with Dion?
5. Why does every kind man turn Chase on?
6. How is hugging the guy he went on two dates with and slept with unthinkable?
7. And what's Chase's issue with Dylan now? Why didn't he want to spend time with him?
8. What does that mean "at least you're here for me?" Why is that so big?
9. How is he disappointed in the next sentence when he's the one who thought in the previous one that they can't go further because no lube and only one condom?
10. Why wouldn't he doubt Dion's straightness? He's obviously not straight.
11. Why could the doorbell only mean the neighbor? Why not Arianna?
12. What TV show has a bird called Scottie that's so famous that it's obvious?
13. Why does he feel safe going to meet Dion surrounded by a crowd when he's a socially anxious person?
There was no passion between the MCs and it just wasn't worth my time by the end.
I wish it was a much better written story than it was. It had a very promising premise.

Short and cute and a little bit sappy. This is the third book I’ve read by Nicole Casey and I’ve liked all of them, but the relationships seem to move too fast. Some authors can write about love at first sight and make it work. Most of the time I prefer a slow build up to love.

I received this book as an ARC for a honest review
I really enjoyed this book Hot Flash by Nicole Casey. I loved Chase and Dylan, they were entertaining, however Scottie steals the show, he is hilarious, loved his attitude!.The story is well written with a HEA and no cliffhanger. I would recommend the story to anyone who wants a quick steady to fast pace book, its is entertaining and very easy to get into, with no complicated plot line and wonderful side characters.the side characters Ariana and Dion are great.No indepth back story for any of the characters, which I found was great for the story,It could flow instead of being weighed down by the past.

I received an ARC for an honest review. The story is well told and interesting. The two main characters, Chase (author) and Dylan (firefighter) are well thought out. The story is short so the characters are not very complex nor is the story. It is a simple H/h wherein Chase needs rescuing and is rescued by a firefighter (Dylan). This could have easily become a much longer and complex story and I am not sure why the author did not decide to make it so. The reason for only 3 stars is I felt there was a lot more story that could have been told. This is a great start and may be a prequel to a series. If that is the case then I would say it is a 4 star. The only complaint I do have is that the author uses hyphens way to much. So much so, it started to distract me. That is all on me though. Try this book you won't be disappointed. HEA with only a mild sizzle on the sex scenes.

i read this book as part of an arc program. I really enjoyed this cute love story about a young man named Chase who was a writer and lived with his pet parrot Scottie. Chase was woken up by Scottie one night because of a fire in the apartment building. Chase grabbed Scottie and his laptop and went to the fire escape where he got trapped. Dylan was the fireman who rescued Chase and Scottie and when Chase later found him and gave him a copy of his latest book as a thank you, Dylan e-mailed him and asked Chase out. They began seeing each other and developed strong feelings. I loved this book, i loved Scottie. I thought he was adorable and little a small kid. Chase and Dylan both really cared a lot about the other and wanted to be together. I thought they made a great couple with a lot of heat. Good one.

I think the main problem with this book is the short length. What was there was good enough, but there simply weren't enough pages to properly develop the story, the relationship, the characters...
Because it was so short, there was a reliance on coincidence, on everything working out a certain way the first time around, on instant attraction (which I don't necessarily have a problem with, but I like to see more relationship development after).
I did really love Scottie the parrot, but I'm not sure it's a good thing that that's what was my favorite part about a romance book. A lot of potential, well written and edited, so I would give the author another shot.
Recommended if you want something quick and steamy without much depth. Thanks to Booksprout for my copy, I have chosen to review.

This was a very short story... a writer's apartment building burns down. He's saved by a 'hot' fireman. They become better acquainted. There is a reappearance of an abusive ex.
There wasn't enough information on any of the characters to become deeply invested in their lives. I'll look into other books by the author to see if there are any with 4 or 5 reviews because I think there is potential for good stories if they're developed further.

Well this book is hot in more ways then one. Dylan is a firefighter and this is how they meet. He is a writer and decides to give Dylan his book to see if he is interested. I will put out there that this is MM romance so if your not into that this book won’t be for you. This is not my normal read but it was not a bad read over all.

This is firefighter Dylan and author Chase's story.
Dylan rescues Chase from his burning apartment and they end up in a relationship. This is a quick read so not a lot of depth to the story. I loved the addition of Chase's parrot.

I received an ARC of Hot Flash from the author some time ago and then promptly lost it in my jungle of ebooks. I rediscovered and read it tonight. I liked it better when it was lost and just an idea to me. It has a sweet plot, but is rushed and unsupported. Nothing feels natural or believable. The parrot was cute though.

Chase is afraid of being hurt again, but when Dylan comes to his rescue when his apartments on fire, Chase tracks him to thank him and they go from there. Their relationship grows and even though Chase is hesitant to trust again he feels drawn to Dylan. Wish the ending was a bit stronger and more solid.

A well written MM story with nice storyline and plot. I liked the characters and how they interact with each other. The story is short and I would have liked a bit more depth to it. Sometimes it feels to flat and needs more pages to develop both the story and the characters.
It is an enjoyable read but misses a bit.

This hot and entertaining. Dylan is the firefighter who saved Chase and Scottie, his parrot, when their apartment building was burning. Their relationship comes slowly at first, then it revs and speeds up, but is awkward all through it. There's some outside drama for them, which is interesting. The writing is not fantastic, but Scottie is. He's like a talking toddler, but much funnier.

Overall I liked this, but it was a bit short and I would've liked just a little more. Chase is rescued by Dylan when his apartment burns down. It was a decent premise, and I liked them getting to know each other. There wasn't a lot of time to really develop their connection, and I wish we had more. More of a 3.5 star read for me.

This is a short story that moves quickly and smoothly. It's a sweet romance with Chase and Dylan who have an instant attraction and hot chemistry together. I enjoyed reading their story.

If the book was a little bit longer I would of given it a 5 stars
Right from the start Chase and Dylan had filling for each other.
It's a short story with mm in it.
I found I quit enjoyed this read even though its a fast read some steam in the
story that keeps you turning the pages.

Loved Loved Loved SCOTTTIIIIEEE!!!!!He stole the story and it was awesome!! I'm glad the main character Chase a club hopping hoe, who f***s every interested guy before the one comes along. Good short story and straight no pun intended to the point!

This is an absolutely delightful valentine love story. I liked the two MC's Chase and Dylan they made a good couple. I LOVED Scottie, I really need a companion like him! The secondary characters enhance the story.

A Joyfully Jay review.

There are many places I could start with this review and none of them are good. Sometimes you just never know what you are going to get until you start a book. I purposely chose this story because it was shorter in length and it sounded like it could be an entertaining read with a firefighter and an insecure author.
While there was a firefighter and an author, what was delivered was dialogue that was stilted and not conversational in tone, with awkward phrasing and repetitive transitional words. This carried through as the style for the entire book, and at first, it was entertaining for all the wrong reasons, and then I would have rather spent my time elsewhere.
The book opens with Chase’s parrot alerting him that that there is a fire. The parrot was slightly entertaining for the first scene and then maybe tried to become a cute plot device, but didn’t work for me. The spark or attraction between Chase and Dylan never did come off the page. We also don’t learn anything about either of them besides their occupations and that Chase has an alcoholic ex.
So much of the book came off as not having a current feel. When Chase first gives Dylan his book, his email address is there so that’s how they communicate at first, which was fine. But then even after they are intimate for the first time, they continue to communicate through formal emails. There were no phone calls, no texting, and not even any messaging even though Chase did have his laptop. Also, the only person Chase appeared to get email from was his agent and the building manager, so when a new email came in he immediately knew it was from Dylan.

Sweet short story.
Chase is a writer, asleep when his apartment, or an apartment close to him catches fire. In a race to get to safety, he grabs his bird and his laptop and hurries to the fire escape that's a little less than sturdy. Dylan is the fire-fighter who saves him.... and his parot, Scotty... Now, I was a bit confused here because I know that parots can talk, obviously, but this bird seemed to be able to hold intellegent conversations and sigh and stuff lol, do they really do that? Maybe, none I've ever seen though.
Thankfully, Chase's friend Ariana, lets them stay with her until he can get back on his feet. In the meantime, she pushes him to find Dylan and thank him; which he does, with one of his books.
Turns out, Dylan is a fan and they go on two dates before hooking up.... I get the feeling it's just the beginning of something starting for these two because it ends up with a "To Be Continued"

The setup was cute but, for me, the execution was lacking. While I understand it's going to be an ongoing story/serial, I just didn't feel enough between the characters to bother reading more.
“I’m the first guy you’ve been with since your ex,” Dylan said, “aren’t I?”
“How’d you know?” I asked.
“I kinda guessed. Your reservations, your unsureness, your—and I hate to say it—desperation.”
“I am a man,” I laughed, to which he responded with a laugh of his own before sliding his arm back around my shoulders. “I have needs just as much as anyone.”
“A need to have a nice thick cock in that hot, tight ass of yours...”
